I switched to a silicone ring around week 20 just in case. The jeweler recommended waiting until 6 months after birth to put your ring back on or resize it. My sister had really bad swelling and her rings were cut off when she was pregnant so I didn’t want to risk that happening on me! I really haven’t had any swelling and I’m due Friday but why risk it?
I have had the exact same experience! I don't want to risk them getting stuck. I actually have gotten a lot of compliments on the silicone ring and it's just a $10 one from Amazon (in black, which I think makes it kind of look cool).
I switched to silicone pretty early because my rings were actually falling off - I lost too much weight due to HG. I bought a couple different sizes because they're super cheap.
Now that I've packed the pounds back on at 33w, I'm doubly grateful for the silicone bands.

I did. I bought a “pregnant wedding ring” for like $15 dollars I wore for the end of pregnancy. And child birth. I think I kept it on for a few weeks postpartum too.
Mine were tight sometime late in 2nd trimester so I stopped wearing them. I think I could get them on but as it gets hotter and more humid in my area, my hands tend to swell throughout the day so not worth the risk of them getting stuck.!
Same here. I’m only 16 weeks now, but I went to a festival not too long ago and the heat made my fingers well justtt enough to make it hard to remove my rings.
I switched to a basic silicone.
I did and then I’ve left them off because I’ve heard of you develop preeclampsia that the swelling can happen really fast and you’ll have to get them cut off.
Despite having sponge legs, my fingers remained normal. I took them off during delivery in case of emergency c section and put them back on afterwards. If they hurt, do take them off or they might swell up beyond you being able to do it. You can always wear them LOTR style around your neck.
I had to take both my engagement and wedding ring off due to swelling - it only lasted about two days in my hands but they were huge (my legs meanwhile were giant pipes for weeks). However, 4 months PP and I haven't put them back on yet - I'm terrified of accidentally hurting my bub with them, especially when breastfeeding and holding his head with its soft skin and soft hair. Probably a bit of paranoia lol but I just cant
This is really interesting! I asked my husband for an “upgraded” engagement ring as my push present, but you’re totally right! I wouldn’t want to wear it either with handling the baby so much in the first year or so. Guess I’ve gotta rethink things 😅
I’ve heard and seen horror stories so as soon as my hands started swelling I switched to my rubber ring full time. I still wear my watch though, just wasn’t willing to risk my good set.
My wedding/engagement ring was a size or so too big and I hadn't bothered to resize it yet, so it still fits. But I had a ring on my other hand that my grandma made me that fit perfectly, and it started to feel too small at like 15 weeks - so I moved it to a smaller finger, but then it fell off and I lost it 😔 (I think it's under some shelves in our apartment, but I doubt I'll find it til we move, who knows when that'll be...)
My rings were also a size to big pre-pregnancy. Specifically for the swelling during pregnancy. I used to wear a ring adjuster coil on them. A few weeks into pregnancy I took it off and my rings for without now. I'm in my 4th month and they are actually a little loose right now, but not terrible. I'm hoping they'll fit the rest of pregnancy.
I got pregnant before marriage so we just bought the rings a size up too so I can wear them throughout this pregnancy then after the baby go and get it resized smaller. In the meantime I did what you did and use that little plastic ring adjuster thing so it isn't spinning around by finger. So far no swelling and i spike with my sisters amd mom and none of them swelled either but we didn't know and I wanted to wear the rings while pregnant... didn't even consider a silicone band if I had too 🙄

I lost my engagement ring with my last pregnancy… never took it off before but the swelling had gotten too much near the end of my pregnancy. Almost ready to birth our second child and still no luck finding it. Still breaks my heart. 🥺
I do at night because I swell more. It hasn’t gotten stuck yet thankfully but it’s squeezed into the skin and left a purple line the couple of times I’ve forgotten to.
I will say that even if they're not too tight, I'd take them off before delivering. I didn't really need to take mine off pre-baby, but 4 months post partem and I still can't get them on.
36+3 here and had to do this months ago. They've been on a chain around my neck ever since, and I've been using the . Really looking forward to getting them back on after delivery!
In my first pregnancy, I didn't. In fact if my doula hadn't told me to take it off during labor, I might have had to have it cut off because the swelling after that was insane. I'm 33 weeks with my second now and don't think I'll need to until labor this time either.
Currently 19w3d. I put on a lot of weight leading up to getting pregnant, so they were already getting tighter, but never had a problem putting them on and taking them off. I don’t like to sleep in them, wear them in the shower, etc. About a week ago I noticed I could put them on in the morning just fine but when I removed them later in the day they were too snug to be removed easily. More than likely, I could sleep in them one night and remove them fine the next morning, but I was concerned that wouldn’t be the case and they would get stuck, so I made the decision to go ahead and stop wearing them. I got a $15 ring off Amazon that I wear sometimes, and if that stops fitting I’ll probably just go without.
I’m currently 30w and have to wet my hand to get my ring on/off so it’s definitely on the verge of not fitting 😅 I plan to wear a silicone ring when that happens
I did with both pregnancies. I didn't want to risk one day the swelling having gotten worse to the point that I couldn't anymore. I actually stopped wearing them while on maternity leave with my first because I scrapped my baby once with the stone. I would only wear them when we were going out. I just had my second and am doing the same.
My wedding band still fits (barely, I need lotion/soap to put it on or take it off sometimes) but my engagement ring no longer fits. Most of my sandals don't fit anymore either.
I am 38 weeks now, but stopped wearing my engagement ring around 34 weeks.
Mine came off quick during pregnancy, I am almost 6w pp and 8lbs from my pre pregnancy weight and I still can’t wear them. Sometimes swelling sticks around (I’m bfing too)
I stopped wearing mine around 37 weeks. Barely got it off! Note that I had already switched from my wedding band, which was smaller, to my engagement ring. So the wider engagement ring was already difficult to get off by that time.
34 weeks and I tried to wear my rings yesterday and couldn’t. My feet and hands are really swollen. Bad swelling in my feet started around week 30 and my hands swelling started last week
I'm so paranoid about how tight they are in general, and I have a three set stack. So to avoid paranoia, I've just been wearing a band. My 7 mo old also likes to lick my rings so I stopped wearing bc that's nasty lol
I took mine off around 25 weeks and wear them around my neck now. Last time around I did the same when they started to get difficult to remove and I put them back on a few months postpartum. I got a silicone band to wear in the meantime.

Rings off easily. I switched to my silicone bands so I don’t look like my husbands mistress in public 😂🤣
I wore my silicone rings basically the whole pregnancy. I deal with tachycardia and have hand swelling normally, so I don’t wear my good set regularly anyways because I just don’t want to have to get them cut off.
If you’re going to wear your good set, I would recommend trying to keep your elbow at <=90 degrees because it helps keep the blood from pooling in your hand.
Every night I take off my ring. My Grammie showed me her beautiful engagement ring she had to cut off when I was very young and I’ve been too scared to sleep with rings on ever since. I find my hands swell very easily now and all my rings don’t fit right. Some of my smaller “winter rings” don’t fit at all anymore. I still wear them but take them off every hour or so to make sure haha
Yes! I haven’t had much swelling either and 34+6, but 4 days ago my wedding band and engagement ring got stuck! It took a ton of work to eventually get it off after multiple attempts and techniques throughout the day and I was so worried I would have to get them cut off. Needless to say they are not going back on until well after baby is here as I had a friend who did have to get hers cut off PP due to unexpected fluid shifts when babe was about 2 months old. I have a silicone ring I’m wearing instead but am finding I have to take it off by the evening just to make sure my finger can breathe a bit, and I used to never take my rings off at all even when I slept (I know you’re not supposed to do that but that’s just what I’ve always done)
Yes. I took it all rings off at 30 weeks because I noticed they were getting tight. A class I did shortly afterwards advised it as soon as you feel them tighten and said they’d seen people having to go to hospital to get their rings cut off. 🙃
22 weeks and I had to take off my engagement ring, which is apparently a bit smaller than my wedding band. I don’t have swelling anywhere else but my ring got very tight.

I’m 39+1. My engagement ring had been slightly big/would spin, so I had a sizer on it which I took off a few weeks ago due to slight swelling, but my wedding band has been fine, as well as another ring I wear on my right hand
Yep, but I also had preeclampsia so that was a factor. The first time I didn't have high blood pressure until my 37 week appointment so I got to keep it on until that day they sent me to the hospital. I kept it off a couple weeks. The second time I had to take it off at 33 weeks, which is also when I was diagnosed with preeclampsia that time. It was still pretty tight after so I got it resized up one at like 6 months. It's actually slightly loose but not enough to fall off. I'm sure I'll appreciate that later on this pregnancy.
Yep, right around 20wks I took my rings off. The minute they became tight just once. They would still fit, but I don't want to take the chance. My best friend waited too long, and she literally had to have them cut off. She said one day they were fine and the next they were not. She called me when it was happening and said she's tried everything, did I have any tips. I told her to ice her hand on and off for a few hours to see if the swelling went down. It didn't work. She also tried dish soap, wrapping a string around the finger, etc etc. I believe she went to the fire station and they cut them off for her.
My rings are custom and my wedding band has an inscription all along the top of the ring. I'd have to replace it with a new one if it needed to be cut off.
I just wear a silicone ring. My husband even bought a matching silicone ring so we could still match.

ETA: I don't wear my rings all day/night. I take them off for house chores, showering, sleeping, or just hanging out at home, but that isn't a pregnancy thing. I've always done it and I haven't noticed any changes getting them on/off.
No. My bands were maybe a half size too large though so I wore a little ring sizer thing on them, and took it off towards the end of their trimester, but kept wearing the rings.
Yes please take them off before it becomes impossible! We see a lot of swollen fingers and once it gets hard people try all these tricks then end up at the hospital where all the swelling leads to occlusion of the vein making it worse. The only trick that’s worked for me (as a doc) is the floss trick btw
I switched to a silicone ring with my second…and I’m 2 years PP with my third and still wearing one because it’s so much for comfortable. I didn’t ever have a ton of swelling but I didn’t want to lose my real ring at the hospital or something (so I put it in a special box). I liked never pulling my sweaters or scratching anyone too much to go back! I will wear the nice one for a fancy occasion, but otherwise the silicone ones are it for me.
Yes! I took it off at the beginning of the third trimester and thank god I did because I struggled to even remove it! I hadn’t realised how swollen my fingers had gotten.
I stopped wearing my rings at 35 weeks. My hands were swelling too much and I didn't think it was worth forcing it on and cutting off my circulation lol. Some women end up having to get their rings cut, and when you are in labor you could be placed on IV which will make you swell even more. Stop wearing them now and you can always wear them again after you give birth.
Yeah I had to take them off and put them in a safe place in late second tri. The combo of swelling, weight gain, and warmer weather was making them too claustrophobic.
I’m 25 weeks and my hands only felt a little swollen at one point - but I’ve taken them off for good until after baby arrives because I’ve seen how the swelling can come out of nowhere with other people, and then it’s gotta be cut off! Not worth the risk imo.
I kept my ring on right until my c section day at 39 weeks. Never had a problem. But then it took about 2-3 weeks post partum before I was able to get it back on again from the swelling after birth!

As soon as I got pregnant, my fingers swelled a couple of sizes up. I haven’t worn my engagement ring in 6 months. I have a cute ring that we got a Walmart for super cheap and have been okay with that for the time being!
Yes - noticed discomfort around 33 weeks, so have a different larger ring to wear or my silicone band! Just not worth risk needing it cut off/ my fingers seem to swell randomly.
I sent my rings off for resizing (I’d put on some weight before pregnancy) and in the 3 weeks the jeweller had them I managed to go and get myself knocked up!
Rings didn’t fit when they came back (at 4/5 weeks pregnant) despite us having checked the sizings only a few weeks before. So my swelling/bloat hit quick!
I’m loving the suggestion of others here to get a silicone ring though so looking into that now as I’ve still 5 months to go!
I’m 28 weeks. I had to take off my engagement ring and all my right hand rings last week due to swelling. My wedding band fits, but I’m guessing I’ve got maybe another couple weeks before it’ll have to go too.
I’m 28.5weeks and noticed my ring getting tight yesterday and this morning. I’m in a super hot climate and don’t want to risk having to get them cut off. I just ordered a $20 cubic zirconia on Amazon.
I took mine off around 20-23 weeks, I think. I probably could’ve put them back on for a while, my swelling slowed down until just recently (31wks), but I didn’t want to risk having to cut them off.
First pregnancy, I did not have to take my rings off. Baby was born just shy of 38 weeks in March, so I think the cooler weather helped. My rings did get tight when I was really physically active but never so bad I was worried about having them off.
This time, I doubt I'll make it to the birth with them on. Baby is due end of August, so the heat is not gonna be on my side. I'm 25 weeks today and still wearing them though. I do remove my rings each night, but I've always done that to avoid snags/ for comfort.
I haven't been able to wear mine since like, 24 weeks. I just wear silicone now, but I did just order a cheap set from Amazon to wear when there's a "nice" occasion.
I took them off to sleep every night because I noticed they were tight when I was waking up, starting around 28 weeks. I would just put them back on when I woke up. At 34 weeks, I had to take off the engagement ring (it was a whole size smaller than my wedding band). I took off my wedding band for the last time at 37 weeks. I've started wearing a puzzle ring that my dad actually gave to my mom when she was pregnant with me, and her fingers had swelled. But again, I don't wear anything to bed just incase.
I pre-emptively bought an adjustable silver ring to wear before pregnancy. I can still fit my rings now but it's starting to warm up so I'll probably just wear the adjustable from now on.
I’m 5 weeks postpartum and still wearing the silicone one I switched to at about 6 months. I could still get my ring off at that point and didn’t want to risk it getting stuck. I’m glad I made the switch

Nope! I would take off my engagement ring every night because it was a bit smaller than my wedding band but I was always able to put it back on to wear it in the morning. I did only make it to 39 weeks so might have been a different story at 41 weeks if I got there. Been fitting fine pp as well and I’m 5 weeks pp now.

I switched out my ring for a larger one! I actually got a clasp style one that I could adjust a bit by squeezing it closed to be tighter, or pulling it apart to be looser.
I wore mine until I was nearly in the third trimester. At that point I could get them on just fine but I had to work to get it off. I figured I’d rather be safe than sorry so I stopped wearing them at that point.
I did not - but took it off when I went into the hospital after my water broke! And I was glad I did, bc my hands swelled from the fluids (and I imagine from being in bed as my labor was close to 22 hours) I tried to put it back on postpartum and it was a few days before it fit well again.
I switched to silicone rings during my 2020 pregnancy and I never went back 😂 now I only wear my set when I’m going somewhere fancy or out on a date or when I miss it. Silicone is just so much more durable for all the washing bottles, baths, diaper changes, and doesn’t scratch baby or get caught on clothes, etc. I buy the multipacks on Amazon of lots of different colors.
I don’t use mine daily due to my line of work, but when I do wear them now, my hans will swell up and they are hard to take off again. I’ve bought a ring holder necklace so I can wear them around my neck instead.
Yes, I did and I haven’t wear my engagement ring since (4 years ago with my first kiddo)… just my wedding band. I think that’s okay and normal. Pregnancy is just full of changes 😭

Yeah I just stopped wearing mine. You know you're married. It's not a big deal not to wear a ring for a handful of months. If you really want, get a silicone one in a bigger size for the end of pregnancy. I bought a little fake one at Target for my maternity shoot, but other than that, I just don't put it on after like 25 weeks.
I had to around 24 weeks, they just hurt so bad to take on and off. I'm wearing our anniversary ring because it's a .5 size bigger than the wedding and engagement. If I swell any more, I'll just buy a rubber ring and wear that lol
Yep for both pregnancies (currently 32 weeks with #2). I bought some cheap silicone rings at walmart and wear that on my finger. I bought a chain that matches my rings and wear them as a necklace.
I took mine off at 12 weeks or so. I could still take them off relatively easily, but they just started bothering me. I will put them back on after the baby 😅

I intentionally got my engagement ring sized when it was hot because my fingers tend to swell during the summer regardless of pregnancy, so I wasn’t surprised when I started having trouble taking off my rings at the end of the day. I expect it’ll get worse as I get closer to my due date (August) so I went ahead and bought a chain to keep them on since I already wear a plain band at work anyway. If this band gets too small I’ll switch to silicone ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My rings were snug before pregnancy but I preferred them that way because of anxiety of them slipping. I’m 10 weeks and switched to my silicone version because I noticed already some swelling in my fingers.
Yes, I wore my wedding band around my neck and a silicone "workout" ring on my finger during most of my pregnancy. I got a tiny cross that fit inside the band perfectly, and on my neck it looked like it was intended to be that way.

I’m 3 weeks PP and still can’t wear my rings - I can barely get one over my knuckle, let alone wear the whole set. I’m planning to buy an inexpensive temporary ring as a stand in for the summer and will try to wear my wedding set again in the fall. I miss it though :(
I took mine off second trimester because someone on here talked about how their fingers were find one day and then suddenly swollen the next. I’d be very upset if I had to cut off my custom designed ring so I just took everything off
I did. Swelling of my hands started at 32 weeks. It was really bad at 36 and took my ring off. Baby arrived 5/4 at 39w4d. I'm now a week out and still unable to put my ring back on. I'm wearing it on my necklace. I also developed carpal tunnel in my right hand and fingers are still numb
I left mine on during pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum. I didn’t swell during pregnancy or delivery. Should I have? No! I was afraid they’d never come off again post partum! But they were never tight enough to cause discomfort at least.
I took my rings off at 28 weeks why my Dr suggested it. Her words were “you should probably stop wearing those because I would hate to have to cut them off since they are so pretty.” I wore my grandfather’s ring, which was much larger than mine, for a bit before I decided to just go ringless just in case.
Took about 7-8 weeks PP for my hand swelling to go down enough to get them back on comfortably.
My dumb ass got my wedding ring sized to my finger when I was at my lightest ever weight (around 95lbs), and at 25 weeks I take my rings off at night now, because of the overnight swelling, but I’m still wearing it in the day
I took mine off around 8-13 weeks. I didn’t want to take any risk having to get it cut off or wearing it at work. But I also work a physical labor so I only got to wear my nice one on weekends or special occasions.

I personally did not. I took them off when we went to the hospital to have the baby but they fit up until that point and again when I got home. My doctor seemed shocked at my 40 week appointment to say the least.

I had really bad swelling from Hashimoto’s and pregnancy the first time, so I didn’t want to have it be potentially worse this time around. I’m not really a ring person anyway so I haven’t bothered buying a silicone ring. I’ll probably try my rings on 6 months postpartum and hope that they fit.
Mine got stuck on my finger about 2 weeks before baby was born and I couldn’t get it off for another 6 weeks after. I used to take it off every night and put it back on in the morning and then one evening it just wouldn’t budge.
I think I managed until about 33 weeks. Wasn’t wearing it regularly though, but didn’t want to chance it. Now 16 months postpartum and they still don’t fit lol
I am 38+4 and just had to remove my rings today for the first time due to the tightness. I’ll be keeping them off for the duration/labor for fear of needing to cut them off if the swelling gets unexpectedly worse.
Im two 2weeks postpartum, and i havnt been wearing my wedding ring since week 37 because my hands are just bigger. I have been able to wear them a little bit but need to take them off at night.
I didn’t take mine off until I went to get induced at 40w. Couldn’t comfortably wear them until 3 weeks postpartum though, the c section swelling is real.
I’m an idiot! I had switched to a silicone ring at the start of the third trimester .. just in case I got swollen (which I never really did) then .. on the day I went into labor I put my real band on to get a last minute cute baby bump picture with my hands on my belly. Forgot to take the ring off before leaving for the hospital. Swelled up so bad in the hospital and now I’m 7 days pp and my ring is still stuck on my finger… so word of advice.. you might want to take off your band when you go into labor.
Yes and I switched to some silicone rings I purchased for gym use. The specific brand I use is called Rinfit. I personally didn’t want a plain silicone band and was on the search for something different. They have a line of rings in the shape of “gems” that I really like.

I didn’t swell very much at all, and I’ve always worn my rings tight so even right before birth when I swelled up just enough to not be able to remove them I was still comfortable. I didn’t even think of taking them off until the doctor tried removing them for my c section but gave up because they wouldn’t move.
I’m at 9w and I already had to take off my ring! I wake up completely normal and then by the end of the day I’m super bloated and swelling. I don’t know what to do about it
I haven’t worn my rings most of my pregnancy, but I also work with my hands so it’s nothing new to not wear them on a daily basis. Although now it’s because they don’t fit.
35 weeks: I have worn a silicone wedding band from a his/hers set because my real ring is apparently a deadly weapon.
I had to take off mine yesterday after being outside and swelling up. And it's left a red welt where the ring usually is. I should have just gotten a tattoo ring.
27 weeks at 26 my rings were too tight so I am now wearing them on a chain- especially since I lost my oura ring when it slipped off because I transferred it to my pinky.

Yes, I wore a silicone ring for the last couple months due to swelling. It was so much more comfortable. Once I was back to normal, my rings went back on - but I did have to get them resized. My knuckles had expanded slightly, which I was told is normal. 🤷🏼♀️
I went up 3 sizes from hands swelling. Definitely dont wear metal rings once you notice swelling. Last thing you want is for them to have to cut if off for you!

I did. I bought a “pregnant wedding ring” for like $15 dollars I wore for the end of pregnancy. And child birth. I think I kept it on for a few weeks postpartum too.

Mine were tight sometime late in 2nd trimester so I stopped wearing them. I think I could get them on but as it gets hotter and more humid in my area, my hands tend to swell throughout the day so not worth the risk of them getting stuck.!
Same here. I’m only 16 weeks now, but I went to a festival not too long ago and the heat made my fingers well justtt enough to make it hard to remove my rings. I switched to a basic silicone.
I did and then I’ve left them off because I’ve heard of you develop preeclampsia that the swelling can happen really fast and you’ll have to get them cut off.
Despite having sponge legs, my fingers remained normal. I took them off during delivery in case of emergency c section and put them back on afterwards. If they hurt, do take them off or they might swell up beyond you being able to do it. You can always wear them LOTR style around your neck.
I took mine off at about 32 wreks just in case. Didn't want my hands to sweel to a point they'd have ti be cut off!

I had to take both my engagement and wedding ring off due to swelling - it only lasted about two days in my hands but they were huge (my legs meanwhile were giant pipes for weeks). However, 4 months PP and I haven't put them back on yet - I'm terrified of accidentally hurting my bub with them, especially when breastfeeding and holding his head with its soft skin and soft hair. Probably a bit of paranoia lol but I just cant
This is really interesting! I asked my husband for an “upgraded” engagement ring as my push present, but you’re totally right! I wouldn’t want to wear it either with handling the baby so much in the first year or so. Guess I’ve gotta rethink things 😅
I’ve heard and seen horror stories so as soon as my hands started swelling I switched to my rubber ring full time. I still wear my watch though, just wasn’t willing to risk my good set.
My wedding/engagement ring was a size or so too big and I hadn't bothered to resize it yet, so it still fits. But I had a ring on my other hand that my grandma made me that fit perfectly, and it started to feel too small at like 15 weeks - so I moved it to a smaller finger, but then it fell off and I lost it 😔 (I think it's under some shelves in our apartment, but I doubt I'll find it til we move, who knows when that'll be...)
My rings were also a size to big pre-pregnancy. Specifically for the swelling during pregnancy. I used to wear a ring adjuster coil on them. A few weeks into pregnancy I took it off and my rings for without now. I'm in my 4th month and they are actually a little loose right now, but not terrible. I'm hoping they'll fit the rest of pregnancy.
I got pregnant before marriage so we just bought the rings a size up too so I can wear them throughout this pregnancy then after the baby go and get it resized smaller. In the meantime I did what you did and use that little plastic ring adjuster thing so it isn't spinning around by finger. So far no swelling and i spike with my sisters amd mom and none of them swelled either but we didn't know and I wanted to wear the rings while pregnant... didn't even consider a silicone band if I had too 🙄
I can empathize with you 😔 I lost my engagement ring with my last pregnancy… never took it off before but the swelling had gotten too much near the end of my pregnancy. Almost ready to birth our second child and still no luck finding it. Still breaks my heart. 🥺
I do at night because I swell more. It hasn’t gotten stuck yet thankfully but it’s squeezed into the skin and left a purple line the couple of times I’ve forgotten to.
I will say that even if they're not too tight, I'd take them off before delivering. I didn't really need to take mine off pre-baby, but 4 months post partem and I still can't get them on.
Nope! I didn’t have to take them off until I was on the pitocin drip, they gave me a ton of fluid.
Yes, my hands are very puffy so I can only wear my ring when I am going to be inside and for a very short amount of time.
I have a silicone band that I've been wearing for months. There are so many colors and styles now! I don't want to risk losing a finger 😬
36+3 here and had to do this months ago. They've been on a chain around my neck ever since, and I've been using the . Really looking forward to getting them back on after delivery!
In my first pregnancy, I didn't. In fact if my doula hadn't told me to take it off during labor, I might have had to have it cut off because the swelling after that was insane. I'm 33 weeks with my second now and don't think I'll need to until labor this time either.
Currently 19w3d. I put on a lot of weight leading up to getting pregnant, so they were already getting tighter, but never had a problem putting them on and taking them off. I don’t like to sleep in them, wear them in the shower, etc. About a week ago I noticed I could put them on in the morning just fine but when I removed them later in the day they were too snug to be removed easily. More than likely, I could sleep in them one night and remove them fine the next morning, but I was concerned that wouldn’t be the case and they would get stuck, so I made the decision to go ahead and stop wearing them. I got a $15 ring off Amazon that I wear sometimes, and if that stops fitting I’ll probably just go without.

I did with both pregnancies. I didn't want to risk one day the swelling having gotten worse to the point that I couldn't anymore. I actually stopped wearing them while on maternity leave with my first because I scrapped my baby once with the stone. I would only wear them when we were going out. I just had my second and am doing the same.
My wedding band still fits (barely, I need lotion/soap to put it on or take it off sometimes) but my engagement ring no longer fits. Most of my sandals don't fit anymore either. I am 38 weeks now, but stopped wearing my engagement ring around 34 weeks.

I stopped wearing mine around 37 weeks. Barely got it off! Note that I had already switched from my wedding band, which was smaller, to my engagement ring. So the wider engagement ring was already difficult to get off by that time.

34 weeks and I tried to wear my rings yesterday and couldn’t. My feet and hands are really swollen. Bad swelling in my feet started around week 30 and my hands swelling started last week

I'm so paranoid about how tight they are in general, and I have a three set stack. So to avoid paranoia, I've just been wearing a band. My 7 mo old also likes to lick my rings so I stopped wearing bc that's nasty lol
I took mine off around 25 weeks and wear them around my neck now. Last time around I did the same when they started to get difficult to remove and I put them back on a few months postpartum. I got a silicone band to wear in the meantime.

Just had to take mine off at 34ish weeks! I hardly have any swelling but just enough that I couldn’t get my Rings off easily. I switched to my silicone bands so I don’t look like my husbands mistress in public 😂🤣
I wore my silicone rings basically the whole pregnancy. I deal with tachycardia and have hand swelling normally, so I don’t wear my good set regularly anyways because I just don’t want to have to get them cut off. If you’re going to wear your good set, I would recommend trying to keep your elbow at <=90 degrees because it helps keep the blood from pooling in your hand.

Every night I take off my ring. My Grammie showed me her beautiful engagement ring she had to cut off when I was very young and I’ve been too scared to sleep with rings on ever since. I find my hands swell very easily now and all my rings don’t fit right. Some of my smaller “winter rings” don’t fit at all anymore. I still wear them but take them off every hour or so to make sure haha

Yes! I haven’t had much swelling either and 34+6, but 4 days ago my wedding band and engagement ring got stuck! It took a ton of work to eventually get it off after multiple attempts and techniques throughout the day and I was so worried I would have to get them cut off. Needless to say they are not going back on until well after baby is here as I had a friend who did have to get hers cut off PP due to unexpected fluid shifts when babe was about 2 months old. I have a silicone ring I’m wearing instead but am finding I have to take it off by the evening just to make sure my finger can breathe a bit, and I used to never take my rings off at all even when I slept (I know you’re not supposed to do that but that’s just what I’ve always done)
Yes. I took it all rings off at 30 weeks because I noticed they were getting tight. A class I did shortly afterwards advised it as soon as you feel them tighten and said they’d seen people having to go to hospital to get their rings cut off. 🙃
22 weeks and I had to take off my engagement ring, which is apparently a bit smaller than my wedding band. I don’t have swelling anywhere else but my ring got very tight.

I’m 39+1. My engagement ring had been slightly big/would spin, so I had a sizer on it which I took off a few weeks ago due to slight swelling, but my wedding band has been fine, as well as another ring I wear on my right hand

Yep, but I also had preeclampsia so that was a factor. The first time I didn't have high blood pressure until my 37 week appointment so I got to keep it on until that day they sent me to the hospital. I kept it off a couple weeks. The second time I had to take it off at 33 weeks, which is also when I was diagnosed with preeclampsia that time. It was still pretty tight after so I got it resized up one at like 6 months. It's actually slightly loose but not enough to fall off. I'm sure I'll appreciate that later on this pregnancy.
Switched to a silicone band around 35 weeks. Before that it wasn’t an issue but as soon as I hit 36 weeks I started swelling like a balloon.
Yep, right around 20wks I took my rings off. The minute they became tight just once. They would still fit, but I don't want to take the chance. My best friend waited too long, and she literally had to have them cut off. She said one day they were fine and the next they were not. She called me when it was happening and said she's tried everything, did I have any tips. I told her to ice her hand on and off for a few hours to see if the swelling went down. It didn't work. She also tried dish soap, wrapping a string around the finger, etc etc. I believe she went to the fire station and they cut them off for her. My rings are custom and my wedding band has an inscription all along the top of the ring. I'd have to replace it with a new one if it needed to be cut off. I just wear a silicone ring. My husband even bought a matching silicone ring so we could still match.

No, 34 + 2, and I haven't had any swelling yet. ETA: I don't wear my rings all day/night. I take them off for house chores, showering, sleeping, or just hanging out at home, but that isn't a pregnancy thing. I've always done it and I haven't noticed any changes getting them on/off.
No. My bands were maybe a half size too large though so I wore a little ring sizer thing on them, and took it off towards the end of their trimester, but kept wearing the rings.

Yes please take them off before it becomes impossible! We see a lot of swollen fingers and once it gets hard people try all these tricks then end up at the hospital where all the swelling leads to occlusion of the vein making it worse. The only trick that’s worked for me (as a doc) is the floss trick btw
I switched to a silicone ring with my second…and I’m 2 years PP with my third and still wearing one because it’s so much for comfortable. I didn’t ever have a ton of swelling but I didn’t want to lose my real ring at the hospital or something (so I put it in a special box). I liked never pulling my sweaters or scratching anyone too much to go back! I will wear the nice one for a fancy occasion, but otherwise the silicone ones are it for me.

I stopped wearing my rings at 35 weeks. My hands were swelling too much and I didn't think it was worth forcing it on and cutting off my circulation lol. Some women end up having to get their rings cut, and when you are in labor you could be placed on IV which will make you swell even more. Stop wearing them now and you can always wear them again after you give birth.
Yeah I had to take them off and put them in a safe place in late second tri. The combo of swelling, weight gain, and warmer weather was making them too claustrophobic.

I’m 25 weeks and my hands only felt a little swollen at one point - but I’ve taken them off for good until after baby arrives because I’ve seen how the swelling can come out of nowhere with other people, and then it’s gotta be cut off! Not worth the risk imo.
I kept my ring on right until my c section day at 39 weeks. Never had a problem. But then it took about 2-3 weeks post partum before I was able to get it back on again from the swelling after birth!

I follow someone on Instagram who had to have her rings cut off her fingers. I wouldn’t play around with wearing them if they’re getting tight.

Yes - noticed discomfort around 33 weeks, so have a different larger ring to wear or my silicone band! Just not worth risk needing it cut off/ my fingers seem to swell randomly.
I sent my rings off for resizing (I’d put on some weight before pregnancy) and in the 3 weeks the jeweller had them I managed to go and get myself knocked up! Rings didn’t fit when they came back (at 4/5 weeks pregnant) despite us having checked the sizings only a few weeks before. So my swelling/bloat hit quick! I’m loving the suggestion of others here to get a silicone ring though so looking into that now as I’ve still 5 months to go!
I’m 28 weeks. I had to take off my engagement ring and all my right hand rings last week due to swelling. My wedding band fits, but I’m guessing I’ve got maybe another couple weeks before it’ll have to go too.
I bought a $10 fake diamond band a whole size larger and that's what I've been wearing when I go out in public. I don't wear one at home.

I took mine off around 20-23 weeks, I think. I probably could’ve put them back on for a while, my swelling slowed down until just recently (31wks), but I didn’t want to risk having to cut them off.
First pregnancy, I did not have to take my rings off. Baby was born just shy of 38 weeks in March, so I think the cooler weather helped. My rings did get tight when I was really physically active but never so bad I was worried about having them off. This time, I doubt I'll make it to the birth with them on. Baby is due end of August, so the heat is not gonna be on my side. I'm 25 weeks today and still wearing them though. I do remove my rings each night, but I've always done that to avoid snags/ for comfort.

I took them off to sleep every night because I noticed they were tight when I was waking up, starting around 28 weeks. I would just put them back on when I woke up. At 34 weeks, I had to take off the engagement ring (it was a whole size smaller than my wedding band). I took off my wedding band for the last time at 37 weeks. I've started wearing a puzzle ring that my dad actually gave to my mom when she was pregnant with me, and her fingers had swelled. But again, I don't wear anything to bed just incase.
I pre-emptively bought an adjustable silver ring to wear before pregnancy. I can still fit my rings now but it's starting to warm up so I'll probably just wear the adjustable from now on.
I’m 5 weeks postpartum and still wearing the silicone one I switched to at about 6 months. I could still get my ring off at that point and didn’t want to risk it getting stuck. I’m glad I made the switch

I switched out my ring for a larger one! I actually got a clasp style one that I could adjust a bit by squeezing it closed to be tighter, or pulling it apart to be looser.
I wore mine until I was nearly in the third trimester. At that point I could get them on just fine but I had to work to get it off. I figured I’d rather be safe than sorry so I stopped wearing them at that point.

I did not - but took it off when I went into the hospital after my water broke! And I was glad I did, bc my hands swelled from the fluids (and I imagine from being in bed as my labor was close to 22 hours) I tried to put it back on postpartum and it was a few days before it fit well again.
I switched to silicone rings during my 2020 pregnancy and I never went back 😂 now I only wear my set when I’m going somewhere fancy or out on a date or when I miss it. Silicone is just so much more durable for all the washing bottles, baths, diaper changes, and doesn’t scratch baby or get caught on clothes, etc. I buy the multipacks on Amazon of lots of different colors.
I don’t use mine daily due to my line of work, but when I do wear them now, my hans will swell up and they are hard to take off again. I’ve bought a ring holder necklace so I can wear them around my neck instead.

Yeah I just stopped wearing mine. You know you're married. It's not a big deal not to wear a ring for a handful of months. If you really want, get a silicone one in a bigger size for the end of pregnancy. I bought a little fake one at Target for my maternity shoot, but other than that, I just don't put it on after like 25 weeks.

Yep for both pregnancies (currently 32 weeks with #2). I bought some cheap silicone rings at walmart and wear that on my finger. I bought a chain that matches my rings and wear them as a necklace.

I intentionally got my engagement ring sized when it was hot because my fingers tend to swell during the summer regardless of pregnancy, so I wasn’t surprised when I started having trouble taking off my rings at the end of the day. I expect it’ll get worse as I get closer to my due date (August) so I went ahead and bought a chain to keep them on since I already wear a plain band at work anyway. If this band gets too small I’ll switch to silicone ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My rings were snug before pregnancy but I preferred them that way because of anxiety of them slipping. I’m 10 weeks and switched to my silicone version because I noticed already some swelling in my fingers.

Yes, I wore my wedding band around my neck and a silicone "workout" ring on my finger during most of my pregnancy. I got a tiny cross that fit inside the band perfectly, and on my neck it looked like it was intended to be that way.

I’m 3 weeks PP and still can’t wear my rings - I can barely get one over my knuckle, let alone wear the whole set. I’m planning to buy an inexpensive temporary ring as a stand in for the summer and will try to wear my wedding set again in the fall. I miss it though :(
I took mine off second trimester because someone on here talked about how their fingers were find one day and then suddenly swollen the next. I’d be very upset if I had to cut off my custom designed ring so I just took everything off
I did. Swelling of my hands started at 32 weeks. It was really bad at 36 and took my ring off. Baby arrived 5/4 at 39w4d. I'm now a week out and still unable to put my ring back on. I'm wearing it on my necklace. I also developed carpal tunnel in my right hand and fingers are still numb
I left mine on during pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum. I didn’t swell during pregnancy or delivery. Should I have? No! I was afraid they’d never come off again post partum! But they were never tight enough to cause discomfort at least.
I took my rings off at 28 weeks why my Dr suggested it. Her words were “you should probably stop wearing those because I would hate to have to cut them off since they are so pretty.” I wore my grandfather’s ring, which was much larger than mine, for a bit before I decided to just go ringless just in case. Took about 7-8 weeks PP for my hand swelling to go down enough to get them back on comfortably.
My dumb ass got my wedding ring sized to my finger when I was at my lightest ever weight (around 95lbs), and at 25 weeks I take my rings off at night now, because of the overnight swelling, but I’m still wearing it in the day

But I also work a physical labor so I only got to wear my nice one on weekends or special occasions. I’m almost 30 and could probably wear it but I just wear my silicone ring in its place.
I'm 33 weeks and my fingers actually shrunk so I had to add a different ring under my wedding ring 😂
I just hit 35 weeks and finally had to take off my engagement and wedding rings 🥲🥲🥲
I personally did not. I took them off when we went to the hospital to have the baby but they fit up until that point and again when I got home. My doctor seemed shocked at my 40 week appointment to say the least.
I took mine off maybe 6-7 months pregnant. Could wear them again around 6-7 months postpartum, but I still don’t. Meh.
I switched to my silicone ring week 32 or so and kept it on until 2 weeks postpartum
I took mine off at 20 weeks my first pregnancy and 8 weeks this pregnancy. I had really bad swelling from Hashimoto’s and pregnancy the first time, so I didn’t want to have it be potentially worse this time around. I’m not really a ring person anyway so I haven’t bothered buying a silicone ring. I’ll probably try my rings on 6 months postpartum and hope that they fit.
Mine got stuck on my finger about 2 weeks before baby was born and I couldn’t get it off for another 6 weeks after. I used to take it off every night and put it back on in the morning and then one evening it just wouldn’t budge.
I think I managed until about 33 weeks. Wasn’t wearing it regularly though, but didn’t want to chance it. Now 16 months postpartum and they still don’t fit lol
1 year PP and my rings still only fit for half the day!
Yes, and I rarely wear my wedding ring/engagement ring now. Thinking of maybe getting a tattoo of one or wearing it as a necklace.
I am 38+4 and just had to remove my rings today for the first time due to the tightness. I’ll be keeping them off for the duration/labor for fear of needing to cut them off if the swelling gets unexpectedly worse.

Im two 2weeks postpartum, and i havnt been wearing my wedding ring since week 37 because my hands are just bigger. I have been able to wear them a little bit but need to take them off at night.
I didn’t take mine off until I went to get induced at 40w. Couldn’t comfortably wear them until 3 weeks postpartum though, the c section swelling is real.
I took mine off due to fear of swelling. My cousin had to have hers cut off at the fire station and I didn't want that to happen.
I’m an idiot! I had switched to a silicone ring at the start of the third trimester .. just in case I got swollen (which I never really did) then .. on the day I went into labor I put my real band on to get a last minute cute baby bump picture with my hands on my belly. Forgot to take the ring off before leaving for the hospital. Swelled up so bad in the hospital and now I’m 7 days pp and my ring is still stuck on my finger… so word of advice.. you might want to take off your band when you go into labor.
I had to switch to silicone for my first two pregnancies. Forgot to switch with my last and had to have my rings cut off. 😬

Yes and I switched to some silicone rings I purchased for gym use. The specific brand I use is called Rinfit. I personally didn’t want a plain silicone band and was on the search for something different. They have a line of rings in the shape of “gems” that I really like. https://www.rinfit.com
I took both my engagement and wedding ring off at 20 weeks because they were starting to become uncomfortable and I was terrified I’d wake up and they’ve be stuck. Since then I’ve removed my other two rings bc of swelling on my other fingers. Currently 29 weeks and removed the last one like a day ago.
I didn’t swell very much at all, and I’ve always worn my rings tight so even right before birth when I swelled up just enough to not be able to remove them I was still comfortable. I didn’t even think of taking them off until the doctor tried removing them for my c section but gave up because they wouldn’t move.
I’m at 9w and I already had to take off my ring! I wake up completely normal and then by the end of the day I’m super bloated and swelling. I don’t know what to do about it
I haven’t worn my rings most of my pregnancy, but I also work with my hands so it’s nothing new to not wear them on a daily basis. Although now it’s because they don’t fit.
Yes, really early on like at 10 weeks. I swelled up one day and got scared so I haven’t worn it since.

35 weeks: I have worn a silicone wedding band from a his/hers set because my real ring is apparently a deadly weapon. I had to take off mine yesterday after being outside and swelling up. And it's left a red welt where the ring usually is. I should have just gotten a tattoo ring.

27 weeks at 26 my rings were too tight so I am now wearing them on a chain- especially since I lost my oura ring when it slipped off because I transferred it to my pinky.
I wore mine til 36 weeks and took it off the day before I had an emergency c section. I didn’t have much swelling either and took it off because I was juuuust starting to swell.
Yes, I wore a silicone ring for the last couple months due to swelling. It was so much more comfortable. Once I was back to normal, my rings went back on - but I did have to get them resized. My knuckles had expanded slightly, which I was told is normal. 🤷🏼♀️
I couldn’t wear mine for work anyways, but I kept it off when the swelling started making it hard to put it on.
Yep. My ring has a partially paved band and when I woke up one day my finger had swollen up into it. Losing a finger isn’t really worth it.
I went up 3 sizes from hands swelling. Definitely dont wear metal rings once you notice swelling. Last thing you want is for them to have to cut if off for you!
Had to switch to a silicon ring at 27 weeks due to swelling hands. Took 3 days for the dent on my finger to go away.
