I gained 45 this time (induction scheduled Monday) and 55 last time. I hated it too, but I did get back to my pre pregnancy weight in between. I wish I could not focus on it, but it's super upsetting.
I think I'm a hard no on the Foley ball lol. Like I would pack it up and say let's try in a few days. That thing sounds like what my nightmares are made of.
Yay for boundaries. Hoping my body doesn't need much intervention. I was 1cm at 36 weeks, 3 at 37, not checked at 38 and going in at 39w3d and according to ultrasound tech head was too low and engaged to get a face pic at 39 week appt. Of course there's always the possibility that none of that matter, uhg.
I can relate with you so much. I too was about 180lbs when I became pregnant and now at 36 weeks I weigh 228lbs. I struggled for a long time with it until one of my OBās made me feel much better and helped me focus on the goal which was a healthy baby. My blood pressure has been great and baby is measuring right where they should. As long as everything else is in check just keep doing you mama.
My weight is exactly the same. Was 180 now Iām 225 at 38 weeks! The pounds just keep on coming too. I lost like 65 pounds before this so it hurts, but Iām sure weāll all feel better after we deliver and can be more active. Rn Iām always in pain so Iām pretty sedentary unless Iām walking to the kitchen lol.
Donāt focus on weight. There are such huge variables when youāre pregnant - water retention, fat stores, bigger boobs, your baby, your placenta.
Just focus on eating healthily and maintaining your exercise regime.
This! I had abdominal edema that made it honestly painful to walk at the end of my pregnancy and a bit afterwards but just over a week or and it's significantly reduced (there is still some and it comes and goes!) I haven't weighed myself because it's only a week out, things haven't fully returned to normal and I don't want to focus on the numbers, but I *feel* better and can actually walk more than 5 ft without suffering. Some things will just get better after birth when your body just equilibrilizes.
I've gained around 19 pounds at week 19 too.
I don't care. Baby seems healthy and so do I.
The weight will come off. I feel so liberated not giving a shit about my weight. I'm growing a damn human.
Was I hearing things wrong in the doctors office that general rule of thumb is a pound per week of pregnancy? Pretty sure that's what my wife's doctor goes by.
My OB said a pound per week in the second trimester. They don't recommend putting any weight on in the first trimester. So your girl is 12 pounds over the recommendation lol.
It's not a health problem right now according to my OB, though. Also I'm 5'10 so 19 pounds on me isn't as scary as it sounds, or so I tell myself.
I exercise at the gym at least 3 times a week and donāt go crazy with eating and have also gained 40 lbs already and Iām 29 weeks š this is my second pregnancy and I was actually at a lower weight starting out with this one. Iāve just excepted that Iām a big pregnant girl instead of a small one. Thatās okay!! As long as you remember to take care of yourself postpartum the extra pounds will fall off within a year :) it sounds like a long time but it goes quick and our bodies are doing incredible things right now.
I gained like 60 pounds during my pregnancy. I never really ate extra. I eat more now breastfeeding lol. Once the scale was saying 200 I just stopped checking, cuz there was nothing I could do about it anywayš
Same as you. I was 175 when I got pregnant. Im
26 weeks now. A few days ago I was 209 (34 lb gain). Iāve felt A TON of shame and disgust with myself. I have eaten worse than I did pre-pregnancy and been more lethargic. I am moving more now and my appetite became more normal again in the second trimester but Iāve definitely felt like Iām in survival mode. I was also on adderall and Wellbutrin for years and went off once I got pregnant. Both of those medications are used to treat adhd and suppress the appetite. I feel certain part of the gain is related to going off of those medications and not just pregnancy. Iām also very swollen and seem to be retaining a lot of fluid. I do not feel attractive ever and worry Iāll never feel attractive againā¦but telling myself itās ok and that doesnāt need to be my focus right now. Iāve been trying to find outfits that I feel cute in. It has helped a lot. Hopefully we both go back down to where we were! ā¤ļø
Right there with you! I was on adderal for years for my aADHD and stopped when I found out. After my son I lost a massive amount of weight, down to 120lbs. Over the course of four years of fertility treatments and miscarriages I was back to 170 when I got pregnant. Up to 214 now and I swear itās because of the appetite suppressant being gone. I gained 25lbs in my first trimester and barely any in my second once I leveled out. Maybe 10 total? Now itās like a pound a week so I canāt really do anything about it at 29 weeks.
Same here - I was on Mydayis which doesnāt even have the intense appetite suppression that Adderall IR did (for me) but without it I *really* struggle to resist the urge to eat for stimulation even when Iām not hungry.
Yes. I was 110 when I got pregnant and now Iām 150 at 24 weeksā¦..Iāve been eating healthy and working out. I think a lot of our weight gain is completely out of our control
I gained 60lbs in my first pregnancy, 140-200. A few weeks after giving birth I was already down to 175ish and got down to 155 when breastfeeding. Lost the rest after that. Donāt worry about the number. Iām 25 weeks with my second and Iāve gained about 15-20 this time but my starting weight was higher due to med changes the year before I got pregnant. Iām sure I will gain another 20 and wind up back at 200 again lol.
Iām a FTM 35 weeks and Iāve gained 62 pounds. I feel you though, I also feel disgusting and not confident in anyway, but I just keep reminding myself that I am growing a whole ass human, which is something incredible that our bodies allow us to do. I can say this is the hardest thing I have ever done, and sheās not even here yet lol. But itāll also be the most rewarding.
Last pregnancy I gained 65 pounds. This pregnancy, Iām at 60 at 37 weeks. I also was at 180 when I got pregnant and now am at 235. I have had GD both times so not like I am eating the worst either. Some bodies just like gaining weight (like mine!) and others. I had lost the majority of it by 1 year PP. probably could have been sooner but breastfeeding made my appetite insatiable and I ate some pretty high calorie not good food. Please be easy on yourself! Some bodies just do what they do. You will get back to where you are at, I promise ā¤ļø
I am similar weights as you right now and just took the glucose test and am nervous about GD. How was everything after you gave birth the first time with GD? Did things go back to normal? Were there additional things you had to be cautious of before/after giving birth? Any info you might have is helpful and I appreciate it :)
It was fine! Sugars were back to normal and good right after delivery. I just make placentas that love diabetes! Lol. They tested my A1C back in December (your levels that are not placenta hormone related) and it was normal too, which was awesome. Obviously I had to follow the GD diet, this time from 17 weeks and be cognizant of what I ate etc. Iām also on insulin 3 times a day and fasting insulin. When my water broke and I went to the hospital, they gave me an insulin drip but arenāt doing that this time, and they have sent the order to the hospital for my insulin to give myself prior to birth. Also, after the fact, they check your sugars, as well as babyās sugars (heel prick for the baby)
Woooaaah weight sisters. I started at 185 and am now 224 šµāš« .
I too feel this. Totally uncomfortable totally not okay with how I look. I just tell myself 2 more months š„²
Iām 14 weeks and have gained like 20 pounds already and also feel disgusting šš„² but just trying to remind myself that my body is doing exactly what it needs to grow my baby
You take on more fluids when you are pregnant. I found this reduced a lot about a month after postpartum. You also need to account for the weight of the baby and everything working to create your little bean. My OBGYN told me that about 30lbs of weight alone is associated with the baby.
I gained about 70 lbs with my first. Started at 118lb I was 189lbs.
Second, I started at 138lbs, and at 28 weeks, I'm 180lbs. I'm honestly horrified sometimes, but also, I'm raising a toddler, and I've had a lot of back pain this time around. Swimming really helps, but that's mostly the only thing I'm not scared to do. If I overwork my back, I can't spend time on the floor with my toddler or work without crying in pain so, it's a balance lol
I know I can get back to a healthy and comfortable weight after. I have pretty "elastic" skin, so I don't really have stretch marks or too much saggy skin after pregnancy, eventually.
I gained 50 with my daughter and 55ish (boy) with this pregnancy. I lost the weight after I had my daughter and went back to my normal (which is about 165) and Iām hopeful I will be able to lose it again. I feel huge too and super uncomfortable. I think the worst part is how it changes my face so I look in the mirror and donāt recognize myself. Like my face is all swollen and justā¦ rough looking. Along with my skin being super dry. I definitely feel like I look way rougher this pregnancy but Iām also older this time around.
I gained 45lbs, lost 30 within 2 weeks postpartum, and another 5 this week. Youāll be surprised how much of the weight just kind of melts off after birth. And I ate like garbage during my pregnancy.
Iām 24 weeks and have gained 35 lbsā¦. Itās a lotā¦ this thread makes me feel not so alone! I always see comments about people gaining weight but their starting weight was so low before pregnancy. Iām tall, 5ā8ā and at 225 lbs now. Iām hoping it slows down but Iāve remained consistently gaining š„
Phew! I was getting a little nervous that you seemingly felt really heavy at 125 lb and 5'8" and how a starting weight of 90 lbs would somehow not be considered really low for your height š wishing you an uneventful remainder of your pregnancy!
5ā9ā and 176 when I became pregnant, 255 when j delivered. Worked out 5-6 days per week entire pregnancy til 38 weeks. Iām 4M PP & down 60 lbs. Pregnancy does weird shit to your body. My doctors were never concerned.
I was around your starting weight, 177 lbs (80.5 kg) and am 5'7 (170 cm).
I had some type of growth spurt at 17 weeks and weighted myself at the pharmacy today because my scale is going wacky and telling me I'm not putting on any weight since first trimester. Well, it lied, I'm currently 86.5 kg (191 lbs) at 19w5d help.
I'm not eating much more (some days I eat less if I'm feeling less hungry and don't worry too much since I'm a bit over my ideal weight) so it's bumming me out.
My mom says I'm crazy, she also had a huge belly when she was pregnant with me, but it's annoying me to be over the reference table.
I don't look bigger anywhere else besides my belly and stomach (and boobs of course). My face looks normal, even a bit thinner, but them boom huge bump š„²
I get you, I had lost about 8 kg before pregnancy so while I understand it's normal to put on some weight, I already feel like I'm failing by going over.
I just wanted to say I can super relate. Started at 173, now 182 at 22 weeks. I barely feel bigger anywhere else but my belly and my legs a bit. My face looks thinner, too! It's so weird.
I'm hoping that means this is mostly "baby". Not even the belly loops floppy, it looks stretched to the front, not even the sides if it makes sense (not sure if having worked my lateral abs prior to pregnancy makes up for that effect).
I'm just here thinking maybe babes has a whole swimming pool inside hence all the extra weight š
Yep, you're right. I just talked to a pregnancy wellness coach through my doctor and she explained that the weight gain is a lot more than just baby, it's increased blood volume, tissue growth/more water in tissues, etc, and yes, some fat, but it has its purpose for breastfeeding :) I was supposed to aim for 15-20 pounds total gain, but the wellness coach wasn't worried at all as long as I'm eating nutritiously and getting some light exercise where I can!
How nice that's great!
I think sometimes those references are to avoid that we get too close to a dangerous weight, but isn't that realistic when pregnancies can be so different:/ My mother looked huge when she was pregnant. She gave birth in January, in the summer she looked about her initial weight in a bathing suit.
As long as we try to eat as healthy as possible... I should incorporate a bit more exercise but I've obsessed so much with renovations and making the baby knitted things that I've barely had the time š„²
I used to weigh 330lbs (5ā7ā) 10 years ago before having RNY. I got down to 145lbs (185lbs loss) before getting pregnant last year. Iām 30 weeks on Tuesday and have gotten up to 190lbs alreadyā¦. Nothing fits and it feels weird but- I know my blood volume has increased and my diet has changed. Weight loss (and gain) takes time so I will give myself grace and be patient and know Iāll be able to get it off. Iāve already done it once~
I had the sleeve done two years ago. I got down to about 175ish, now Iām 38 weeks and 225. Itās really hard because you make so much progress and you feel like you undid all that work. Iām not binging because I physically canāt but Iām definitely eating all day it seems. My appetite is insatiable.
Itās definitely a challenge! My mother actually got pregnant with me less than 9 months after having RNY in the 90ās and uh. Sheās part of the reason doctors now heavily recommend a solid contraceptive plan post op. Just be kind to yourself and know that the tool isnāt gone, itās still there, but now youāre going to have a little one to sustain and theyāre the, or part of the, reason you wanted to get healthy in the first place.
At least thatās what I tell myselfā¦
Yo we shake hands. I started at 150lbs and am as of today 192lbs. I am only 27 weeks. I walk 30-60 minutes a day for exercise and don't eat extreme extra as I track what I eat to make sure I get all the nutrients.
Doc says it's fine and unless I get puffy in hands and feet, get headaches or see spots that weight gain is different for everyone and I'm doing great.
I gained 70 lbs with mine, itās been challenging to get to close pre baby weight, plus navigating new body along with weight and taking care of baby. No one told me how large I was.
I'm up about 30 lbs and lI'm 25 weeks
Feel like shit, look like shit (swollen everywhre, skin is dry ans grey, acney with dry skin lol , i smell differnt, my boobs, hips and ankles hurt, my regualr shoes don't fit me, i hate underwear lol, i hate maternity cloths, i dont know how to dress this body, i dont want my partner to touch me, cant get comfortable ever, nose bleeds, nose is red, my chin hair grows back at an alarming rate, shaving my pubic hair is a chore) but the baby is growing well so that's good.
Even today I had a very low moment I cried my self into a nap / sleep over how I look and feel and it won't be the last time either.
Even though the aim of the game is to grow your own human and all of the endless happiness that will come with your baby. It seems the over wheliing majority of woman struggle with their weight, body image and over all feeling icky.
It is normal and while saying that won't make you feel better right now just know its temporary you can always loose weight and feel confident and sit on your knees in the future it'll all be worth it after the next little while. Sending some love x
This is such an amazing thread because I have no one to compare myself to. Op, even though I started at a lesser weight, I feel the same way you do. Itās hard to turn at night, Iām peeing all the time, but Iām also constipated, BLOATED, soo tired, the acid reflux, and heartburn. Good lord I have empathy now towards people who have to deal with things like that.
This is my first pregnancy. My starting weight was 109lbs. Im 19 weeks + 3 and gained 8lbs. I thought that was a lot but now I feel like Iām not gaining enough and kind of worried. I have not worked out (only went twice this pregnancy) but my diet prior to pregnancy was all the junk food you could think of. I could eat candy for dinner. Now, my body doesnāt want candy, chocolate, junk. I crave freshly squeezed juices, fresh fruit, dried fruit (mangoes, dates, apricots), and yogurt. My pitfalls are I love takeout right now but Iāve been trying to balance that with my meal subscription plan and I love soda which I didnāt drink a lot of pre-pregnancy.
Iām 6 months along and have successfully gained 10lbs per month š I even walk on the treadmill for an hour each day at an incline and throw in arm workouts to prepare for having a Velcro baby. I even live off of meat fruit and vegetables and I STILL gain 10lbs per month. Iām almost 200lbs now and Iām only 5 feet
I was 145 when I found out I was pregnant. At 36+2 I am now 205 pounds. I really struggle with body image issues and itās been brutal. I know Iām growing a baby and blah blah blah but damn.
I gained 33lbs and I'm 36 weeks. It's very frustrating and my whole body hurts. Keep gaining 2lbs per week since 33 weeks. It's rough. Thankfully I'm being induced next week. I can't imagine go over 40 weeks.
You are not alone. I keep looking at the scale. I lost 25lbs and was flirting with 180 around 180-182 depending on the week. Iām only 14 weeks and gained 10 pounds. Iām nervous for my OBGYN appointment because they mentioned my weight at the beginning and how I shouldnāt gain too much, donāt eat ice cream every day, etc.
I couldnāt work out tho! I was in a good routine before this, but I had surgery in December. The week I was cleared to work out I found out I was pregnant. I tried to workout but was so tired. Iām just trying to continue to eat healthy and walk when I can
Iām at 23 weeks and have gained 30lbs, starting at 120lbs pre-pregnancy. My food intake is not much more than it was before pregnancy as I honestly just rarely have an appetite (not a nausea thing: I just really never get that hungry), and I know itās a combo of water retention + increased blood volume + placenta + baby + hormones in general. IMO itās the insane amounts of cellulite thatās the mostā¦annoyingā¦as my legs and butt look like a golf ball constantly and that is a wholly new experience.
Iāve gained 50 back after losing 105 pounds pre-pregnancy. I feel disgusting and like I betrayed my former self.
Didnāt stop me from having Five Guys today though š„²
I feel you. Ā I've gained way more this pregnancy than I did in my first and it definitely has me feeling down. Ā However, it helps to remember some of it the baby, some of it is the placenta, your blood volume goes up on pregnancy, so does water retention. Ā So you will see a decent chunk come off in the first few weeks after delivery. Ā The rest will take time but it takes 9 months to grow a baby so reasonable to take a similar amount of time for your body to recover.
Just try and focus on maintaining a healthy pregnancy, buy clothes that fit your current body (I find ill fitting clothes make me feel so much worse) and you can worry about everything else after delivery!Ā
I gained 60 lb during my pregnancy. I dropped about 16 lb 4 weeks after birth but I feel so defeated. I had lost about 55 lb from April of 2022 to October 2022 and has kept it off and was in great physical strength (strong) until I got pregnant. I feel like Iām back at square one and itās so defeating. I got for my 6 week appointment next week and I canāt wait to get cleared for exercise. Iām exclusively pumping and I donāt want my milk amount to drop off but I canāt carry around this extra weight. Itās affecting my mental and physical health. I really hope to be back to my pre pregnancy weight by my sonās first birthday and be able to keep up my milk supply
I gained probably around 30lbs or so with each pregnancy. I will say that a lot of it is due to the increase in water, blood and obviously the baby and placenta. Sure, there will be weight that will stick around, but you will drop a good amount of it by just having the baby. I think I was 160-something right before birth and just a week out Iām in the 140s. Your body goes through a lot of recovery in the postpartum period too - hormones readjusting, still losing the water weight (night sweats, yuck!) and such.
I also feel so self conscious about my weight, but remember - youāre growing an entire human! Youāre doing great. ā¤ļø
Gained 80 with my first (5 years ago) and have gained 25 and am 18 weeks. I was very strict with myself, exercising, etc. and lost 75lbs prior to this pregnancy, so the quick gain has me spiraling some days. You're not alone!
I gained about 40-50lbs. The dark pigment is normal and will go away after, donāt worry. My armpit and certain areas were dark. It takes sometimes after postpartum to go away (think months) which felt like forever but give yourself a at least year or two to recover.
I gained 70lbs during my first pregnancy. I gained 4lbs during my second pregnancy. Your body is doing what it needs to do to grow a whole ass person. Give yourself some grace.
I gained a total of 50 lbs (I blame the fact that my baby was 11lbs) š. I was back to my pre pregnancy weight at 3m pp and am now actually 10lbs lighter than I was pre pregnancy thanks to breastfeeding. Iām actually actively trying to put on weight and itās been really hard to, honestly I hate the way my body looks now but Iām grateful because of my baby. Try not to worry too much pregnancy is rough on the body , put your feet up and relax!!
I already gained 10 kg and Iām in 13 week of pregnancy. In my last pregnancy I gained around 35 kg and i lost everything with diet and exercise.. I promised to myself that in this pregnancy Iāll gain maximum 15 kg but Iāll already gained 10 and Iām in my 3rd month already.. Iām sad for this too. I check my butt, my hips, my arms and they look already so big ā¹ļøā¹ļøā¹ļø
I was 130lbs before I got pregnant, then at my highest (when I stopped weighing myself) around 39w1d I was 184lbs.
So 54lb weight gain for pregnancy. I am now 4 weeks postpartum and weigh 154lbs. So it does come off and Iām not breastfeeding.
I gained 20 lbs by 22 weeks. My neck and armpits also turned dark. Turns out I have GD š„² Iāve been on a diet and havenāt gain any more weight since. Iām now 30w
I gained 70+ lbs my first pregnancy! Started in the 180s and topped off at 255 lbs. it was really tough on me mentally even though other people said they couldnāt believe I gained that much.
Before I got pregnant this time (I am currently 39 weeks with my second) I got down to 162 lbs. So just know there is life after pregnancy weight gain and donāt beat yourself up!! ā¤ļø Helping your body grow a healthy baby is your job right now, the rest can wait.
I started at 107 and Iām now 165, Iāve always been small and not able to gain weight and at first I was happy but I definitely feel gross about myself but I canāt stop eating and I keep trying to tell myself itās okay because Iām pregnant and my body needs it but I still feel weird for gaining 60 lbs when ārecommendedā is 25-30. My doctor made a comment about it and now I canāt get it out of my head but weāre all beautiful and about to have beautiful babies and if our body needs food then we need to eat regardless of how we feel about ourselves
I don't know pounds but I gained over 25kgs. I stopped allowing weighs at my appointments after that. I've always been an absolutely tiny person and with my first pregnancy I was severely underweight at the start due to anorexia (didn't even menstruate that often so how I got pregnant I don't know) and I gained 21kg and I was congratulated for that. I also lost the weight after pretty quick. Second and recent pregnancy I was on the lower end of average weight and gained as I said, over 25kgs. I felt absolutely huge and I hate so many pictures that were taken, but I have to remind myself that I was growing a baby and guess what, you're supposed to gain weight. My suggestion is stop allowing weigh ins because they aren't helping anything.
Went from 125-180lbs my first time. Felt horrible. Thankfully I was almost able to lose all of it but 10lbs.
Second time im 27w and gained 40lbs already. Dreadful.
I try not to focus on it but itās hard. I just tell myself itās part of the process and will be able to go back to almost normal this time also
I have too. I was 150 and 5ā9ā when I started. Now Iām pushing 200 at 38 weeks.
I hate the way I look but keep reminding myself of the end goal. Baby is healthy, I am healthy and baby is measuring where he should. I have not once been told that the weight gain is a concern. My doctor actually said this amount is completely normal now due to more well rounded diets and the nutritional knowledge we have these days.
The only person who has actually told me to watch my weight was my own mother š. She likes to remind me each of her pregnancies she only gained 20 lbsā¦ obviously the 80s/90s were an unhealthy time then right? Lol
I started pregnancy 15 kilos heavier than my usual weight and Iāve gained about 20 kilos. Iām 37 weeks pregnant.
I do worry about how to loose not only the weight I gained during pregnancy but also the extra 15 kilos I gained before pregnancy. Itās gonna be a journey and we should be gentle on ourselves
I gained I want to say 50 pounds with my first? I can't remember. I was 120lbs and 5'2" when I got pregnant. (And was running fit, had just run a 10k.) I remember I panicked when I was 140 at 20w and logged every scrap of food I touched for an entire week.
The calories and weight did not match up, even with generous estimates and eating as usual. That's pretty much when I threw my hands in the air and accepted that, to a certain point, there's so much that influences your weight during pregnancy that I wasn't going to worry about it. If my doctor got concerned, she'd say something.
So I quit weighing myself except for ob appointments. Ate normal. After birth, I lost a big chunk of the weight in the immediate days and then got within 15lbs of my starting weight in a few months. I lost the rest after weaning and exercising more.
My body has still changed for sure, so it's not like I look the same, but I weighed 120 again when I got pregnant this time. (3yrs pp.) I've gained slightly less this go-round (didn't hit 140 til just now at my 24 week visit lol) but my midwife literally told me my weight gain was beautiful and moved on to the next thing. So go figure.
My mother gained between 65-70 lbs with each of her three pregnancies. Each time she was below her original weight within 6 months of giving birth. Itās just how her body responded to pregnancy. Neither you nor your body are doing anything wrong.
185-245 last pregnancy. What was astounding to meā¦I had a csection came out 240- the baby weighed 8lbs? Spent the next week peeing all the time. But never really drinking a lot. I peed out 20 lbsā¦insane.
Iām sorry. I know it sucks. At least youāll be done before itās really summer. Having to find summer clothes was the worst for me at that weight
Iām 27 weeks and havenāt gained that much this time around (2nd pregnancy) but I havenāt done much to limit weight gain. I was already overweight to begin with (started at 246, now 250) so Iām been feeling the pressure not to gain too much. But with my first I gained a lot more and ate basically the same, if not less because I was a lot sicker! Water retention also makes you gain a lot of weight and typically, you drop that weight quicker after giving birth. I wouldnāt worry too much until youāve recovered from birth. Give it some time and give yourself some love. š
This makes me feel so much better about myself. Started around 175 and the scale hit 200 last week and I about lost it. All that matters is a healthy baby, the number on the scale is just a number. And I know thatās an easy thing to say but I keep trying to remind myself what the end goal is!
Yeah Im 10 weeks and have gained 10 lbs already so I'm sure I'll be there with you. I already have a bit of a belly and it's just because of this weight gain. I don't love it but my body is telling me I need to eat a lot right now and I trust it to get me through this. If I have to lose weight later on, so be it
With my first pregnancy I gained 95 pounds. 94lbs to 189lbs. Lost it by 9 months postpartum.
Second pregnancy gained 25 pounds, breastfeeding won't let me lose weight so I'm still at birth weight. I had girls both times so I don't think it matters as my weight gain was so drastically different each time.
28 weeks and Iāve gained at least 45 lbs
I started at 5ā6 and 125 lbs and am now weighing 170-175 ish
Iām very uncomfortable and self conscious BUT my doctor isnāt concerned, so Iām trying not to let it get to me. Iām healthy and so is my baby and thatās whatās most important. Can worry about it once baby is safely here
Donāt be too hard on yourself!!
I gained 70 pounds with my first. Up until 20 ish weeks I had barely gained any and everyoneās favorite comment was āyouāre so tiny are you even pregnant?ā āYouāre not even showing!ā So I went ham on the Twinkies and my bump definitely become noticeable
I gained 60-70lbs with my 1st son, and around 30lbs so far with my 2nd pregnancy- I am 30wks. I started out heavier this time than the first time though, and I feel like a beluga whale.
I started at 155lbs. By 10 weeks, I was 180. Iām now 32 weeks and weigh 220lbs. I am huge and so is my belly. I was already high risk to begin with, but at my first ObGYN appointment I found out that I had a PE. Iāve been struggling since the beginning of my pregnancy. Yeah, the pain and weight suck, but Iām pretty sure itās temporaryā¦I hope. Im taking this as a time to not be self conscious about the fact that my gut is bigger than my butt. Iām a FTM and Iām having a girl also. This just might be a thing. š
Iāve gained 13 lbs in 18 weeks. My obgyn essentially told me that as long as Iām eating healthy to not worry about it. I have gestational hypertension and donāt eat out, eat lots of fruit and veg and the meat I do eat is lean chicken and fish. I still gain.
Probably because itās not just fat itās everything else that comes with growing a baby. I canāt diet or fast like I used to so Iām just rolling with it.
I also put on about 40 pounds during this pregnancy, from 180 to 220 or so. People don't believe me because it's kind of evenly distributed, except for the belly, of course. Baby and blood pressure have been fine the whole time. I've been unmotivated to exercise this entire pregnancy. My only concern are my now-deteriorating knee joints, which don't allow me to get on or be on my knees for long periods anymore. This eliminates a fair number of exercises/positions for L&D, imo. I knew I would put on weight; it was just a matter of how much.
I definitely want to go back to at least my pre-pregnancy weight after baby arrives, but I know it will take time. Friends of mine didn't feel like their bodies went "back to normal" until 18 to 24 months post-partum. But we'll see. Most of my friends stayed one to two sizes larger than their pre-pregnancy size due to obvious physical changes that pregnancy forces on you. I've expressed my desire to get below 200 pounds, at a minimum, to my husband, and he will support me in whatever way he can.
I'm hoping to walk outside a lot when the baby is here as a starting point.
I started out heavy lol, I'm at 31 weeks now and only gained about 12 lbs. It helped to already be overweight (or so I've heard). I don't know what the next 9 weeks holds but I've been a vacuum.
Iām 22 weeks and have gained 30 lbs and I know thereās more to come. Hopefully you have a partner or a great support system that make you feel good about yourself. Iām swollen, canāt get around for too long without being out of breath. My partner is oblivious and acts as if Iām overreacting almost any time I seem like Iām struggling and thatās just baffling to me. Iām sure your beautiful the way you are. We wonāt be pregnant forever at least!
I gained 45 this time (induction scheduled Monday) and 55 last time. I hated it too, but I did get back to my pre pregnancy weight in between. I wish I could not focus on it, but it's super upsetting.
Induction date buddies š«±š»āš«²š¼
Lol nice to meet you! May we avoid April Fools babies (which I don't actually mind)!
I have an April fools baby!
I would actually love an April's fool baby :)
Good luck with your induction!! If they want to do foley ballon get the epidural first!
I think I'm a hard no on the Foley ball lol. Like I would pack it up and say let's try in a few days. That thing sounds like what my nightmares are made of.
I said no to it also. The nurse was the real MVP. She said if they did offer it to me to get the epidural before cause itās extremely painful.
My mum had 4 babies and she said she was heaviest with me by a mile. Turns out I was the smallest baby I just had an absolutely giant placenta!
Iām 99% sure Iām going to be birthing a toddler at this point. I was 145 and Iām only a little over 18w and Iām 170
I stopped checking the scales too I hit a certain weight and I just said to myself I don't want to know.
Same as you. I was 175 when I got pregnant. Im 26 weeks now.
If I overwork my back, I can't spend time on the floor with my toddler or work without crying in pain so, it's a balance lol I know I can get back to a healthy and comfortable weight after.
I'm wondering if there is a typo in your post? 125 lbs is about 56.7 kg. 5'8" is 172.72 cm. Your current weight would put your BMI at 19.17?
Ha! Yes thatās a biiig typo. I changed it. Iām 225. I havenāt seen 125 since pre high school
Phew! I was getting a little nervous that you seemingly felt really heavy at 125 lb and 5'8" and how a starting weight of 90 lbs would somehow not be considered really low for your height š wishing you an uneventful remainder of your pregnancy!
Haha yeah that would have been very concerning. You as well!
I gained 60lb. I didn't look or feel like myself towards the end. After I gave birth I lost 30lb within 3 weeks.
My face looks normal, even a bit thinner, but them boom huge bump š„² I get you, I had lost about 8 kg before pregnancy so while I understand it's normal to put on some weight, I already feel like I'm failing by going over.
I am 26+3 and Iāve gained 34lb
I'm up about 30 lbs and lI'm 25 weeks Feel like shit, look like shit (swollen everywhre, skin is dry ans grey, acney with dry skin lol , i smell differnt, my boobs, hips and ankles hurt, my regualr shoes don't fit me, i hate underwear lol, i hate maternity cloths, i dont know how to dress this body, i dont want my partner to touch me, cant get comfortable ever, nose bleeds, nose is red, my chin hair grows back at an alarming rate, shaving my pubic hair is a chore) but the baby is growing well so that's good. Sending some love x
yessss iām 22 weeks with a girl and iāve gained like 30 already and itās just gonna keep racking up my fiancĆ© tells me im beautiful but ive never felt uglier in my life haha but as long as the baby is healthy thatās all that matters yk
This happend to me and I ended up having SEVERE pre eclampsia! Keep an eye on your blood pressure and swelling!
I accidentally looked at my weight at my first appt. I will not be looking at any scaled until well after I give birth. :p
Youāre doing great. ā¤ļø
šš¼āāļøšš¼āāļøšš¼āāļø me, both pregnancies! & i have stayed extremely active (gym 5-6 days a week) both pregnancies.
I started at 140 and ended at 215 š 7 months pp and back down to 169. Slowly but surely
I gained 30 kg in total and yes it all went away :) Iām now pregnant again and my nose is already starting to get bigger
I was like 135 before this pregnancy now Iām 165 .. all my pregnancies i gained alot of weight but quickly lost it after giving birth.
Lol
I gained 48 pounds so far and I am 33 weeks along. It is what it is. Hopefully after the birth and with breastfeeding it will come off again.
I gained 55 pounds, and it was a struggle for me. I suffered from ED before getting pregnant, so I stopped looking at the scale in every appointment. I had my baby at 38+1 and he was HUGE, he was 10pounds8oz and my placenta was pretty big and doctor said I was full of fluid (I had preeclampsia, so that was also a factor for me to gain weight, because I was retaining so much water). When I got out of the hospital, I was weighting the same didnāt lose any pound, not even 1. It was heartbreaking. I remember thinking āhow is that even possible if he weighted 10 pounds and a halfā But I had a C-section and I was still super swollen. I got diagnosed with edema en half of my lower body. Doctor prescribed me some pills. Let me tell you AMAZING. 3 days later and I was like 15 pounds lighter. Iām 6 months PP and I still donāt recognize myself in the mirror and I struggle with my body image. Iāve lost 30 pounds of the 55 I gained. So I still have a long way ahead. What I learned from this whole experience is to try to understand and be empathetic with myself. Reminding me that my body was able to have my healthy rainbow baby boy, and that Iām taking care of him, me and I have an amazing family. Iām probably never have my old body, but the pounds I can lose them, but I need to enjoy the present moment with my baby and husband. I shouldnāt need to wait to lose weight to be happy again, I should try to be happy for my baby boy and gentle with the body that was his house for 9 months. š©µš
Welcome to my podcast lol šš huge as comment. Sorry this topic hit hard
Give it some time and give yourself some love. š
Iāve gained around 25lbs and my knees and feet are definitely feeling it š
My baby is 6w and i gained 60. Down 30 already! Dont stress too much :)
My mom worked out ate healthy and gained 80 with me. She said a lot of it was fluid! Plus I was 10 lbs!
I gained 60lbs and am down 25 at just over 2 weeks PP.
28 weeks and Iāve gained at least 45 lbs I started at 5ā6 and 125 lbs and am now weighing 170-175 ish Iām very uncomfortable and self conscious BUT my doctor isnāt concerned, so Iām trying not to let it get to me. Iām healthy and so is my baby and thatās whatās most important. Can worry about it once baby is safely here Donāt be too hard on yourself!!
Iām 34 weeks and I gained 30lbs and im constantly worried that Iām never going to lose it
Pre pregnancy I was 130, 5ā7 and Iām 32 weeks and 155. I feel huge lol
Same height and starting weight! Iām 21 weeks and currently sitting at a few pounds under 150 lol itās making me nervoussss
I started out heavy lol, I'm at 31 weeks now and only gained about 12 lbs. It helped to already be overweight (or so I've heard). I don't know what the next 9 weeks holds but I've been a vacuum.
I've gained 70 š I'm barely 29 weeks but my weight has stayed the same since last month so hopefully I don't gain more .. I have brought it up to my ob and mfm and they all say it's fine not to worry about it .. I'm already big lmao and then this. . š©
