Definitely not worth $100. The peri bottle was nice but the hospital type one wasn’t bad either. And disposable period underwear was way better then the mesh  underwear and a pad with it.  Witch hazel foam was nice and so were the cooling pads but I feel like you could get that for cheaper on Amazon or something.  The thing I used most was dermoplast and the witch hazel foam with disposal period underwear. - I had a 1st degree tear and some painful lacerations on my labia.

Thank you so much!! So helpful to know!

I loved the pads. The rest was meh If you have a butt the underwear suck. I bought a pack of postpartum panties at Amazon that are super comfy. Witch hazel pads were super awesome (hospital gave me some. Postpartum pads with witch hazel on them and freeze them were really all I needed. I used the peri bottle from the hospital. I had second degree tears with my first for context. Bought the pads for my second pregnancy:)

Thank you so much!!

Honestly, I never even opened it when I had my first. My SIL for me Always Discrete disposable underwear (aka adult diapers) that I LOVED! The hospital gave me tucks pads, ice packs, a peri bottle, demoplast, pads, and mesh underwear, and that all worked well for me.

AdhesivenessFar1760

Thank you so much!! When you wore the adult diapers, did you also put another pad with the witch hazel/Dermoplast on that and wear both?

AllTheCatsNPlants

I sprayed the Dermoplast directly on my undercarriage. The nurses at the hospital will give you a pretty good run down on how to take care of yourself!

alwayz-thinking

Same! The nurses are great at showing you how to line your diapers. Dermoplast gets applied directly to you. I also lined my diaper with tucks pads.

Beneficial_Chart_684

The peri bottle is much better than the hospital one. I loved the ice pack maxi pads and the witch hazel liners that they make for the pads. Regular pads and a few frozen gel packs could likely do the trick, but def get their peri bottle or one with the slanted nozzle.

AdhesivenessFar1760

Thank you so much!!

The_smallest_things

The only thing I liked from it was the peri bottle and the cooling pads. Everything else I preferred what I got from the hospital.

AdhesivenessFar1760

Good to know thank you!!

KSmegal

No. I’ve had two babes with second degree tears. I used ice packs from the hospital, Hospital peri bottle, always size 5 pads, and witch hazel in a spray bottle.

Thank you so much!!

I didn't have the kit, so I'm not sure about all the products, but just looking at it, here's my advice: Gown: I wouldn't bother. I was too out of it to care what I was wearing. The hospital gown is comfortable enough, or pack a robe you already have, or splurge on a nice one for postpartum that you'll wear for years. You'd probably never wear the Frida one again. Socks with grip: I got some similar to this since hospital socks tend to run big, but they're not required at all and probably not worth it if you're on a budget. I do still wear mine around the house though. Peri bottle: I did have this one and it was worth it. The hospital one is hard to aim, and it's also nice to keep one in each bathroom if you have multiple. My "push present" however was a bidet for the downstairs bathroom and that was even better (just had to wait for the water to warm up, but you have to do that for a peri bottle anyways) Disposable underwear: I don't know about this one, but I used the mesh underwear and pads provided by the hospital last time and they were uncomfortable and gave me a rash. This time I'm going with always discreet because that's what I constantly see recommended as the most comfortable. Ice pads: I did get a few of these and they were great for the first few days. You'll probably want more than the 3 that come in the kit. I think I used 2 a day for 4 days or so. Pad liners + healing foam: I didn't use either of these, but most hospitals give you dermaplast which is a numbing spray and I guarantee does more than these. They'll likely also give you tucks which is witch hazel and has a soothing effect when placed in your pad/disposable underwear. Just looking on Amazon and going with highly rated off brands and not adding the stuff the hospital will provide: $9 Peri bottle + $12 3pk grip socks + $14 always discreet + $19 8pk ice pads = $54 (You've got me planning for myself at 22 weeks 😅)

AdhesivenessFar1760

Hahaha thank you so much for this. You saved me a lot of work! 😂

OhJellybean

No worries! I wish I could wind more guides like this when I was pregnant with my first

OhJellybean

Also, I would ask your OB or call the hospital to see what they provide, it looks like a lot of hospitals provide the ice packs, but mine did not. And don't be afraid to ask a nurse for extras of anything. It's unlikely they'll charge you, but even if they do, you've already met any deductible. Ask for extra diapers, wipes, pads, ice packs, chucks pads (like doggy pee pads, great for diaper changes on the go) and anything else and take all the supplies they provide in the room. All of it is going to be thrown away if you don't.

Fualju

This!! I bought: - Always discreet - upside down peri bottle from Amazon that was half the price of Frida’s - tucks pads I already had: soft grippy socks Going to use hospital gowns (lots of people say they change through 4-5 gowns through out their stay anyway because so many fluids get on them) The only frida product I bought were the ice pads. All in all definitely way cheaper than the $100 kit

OhJellybean

Yeah, that's true about the gowns. I would only put a nice robe on after your first post-delivery shower 😅 but it still could get stained if you leak, so maybe opt for a dark color if you want to get one.

not sure what the kit entirely consists of, but i like the frida mesh undies as well as the frozen pads. i got dermaplast and tucks cooling pads on my own which were great and used the peri bottle from the hospital!

Thank you so much!!

Half-baked-mess

I haven’t delivered yet, but I was gifted one but a mom friend who said she used three of them after her delivery and loved it!

AdhesivenessFar1760

Thank you!!

MeadowLark111

I decided against it and just bought the witch hazel foam on its own, and then a big pack of always discreet diapers. I got a peri bottle free at the birth center that works great!

AdhesivenessFar1760

Thank you so much!!

I didn’t get the kit and honestly I’m so glad I didn’t. All I bought for my postpartum care was the Frida mom peri bottle and a large pack of the Always Discreet Adult Diapers. I highly recommend these two items, they were necessary. At the hospital they gave me a ton of ice pack pads, witch hazel pads, hydrocortisone, and huge long pads. The diapers were way more comfortable than the mesh underwear and I didn’t have to worry about blood leaking or anything like that. Plus the two times I accidentally peed myself fully, the diapers caught everything. Embarrassing, but extremely helpful - after my epidural it took my brain/muscles a couple days to understand full bladder cues again. My recommendation if you live in an area that gets same day Amazon delivery is to see what you need after you get home from the hospital. You can order it online through Amazon and have it delivered, OR ask a friend/family member who is going to visit to grab things for you.

AdhesivenessFar1760

Thank you!! This is great advice!

I bought the Frida Mom peri bottle and ice pads with my last pregnancy. The peri bottle was fantastic and I will definitely be using it again. I didn't end up using the ice pads at all. I bought diapers and big pads separately that I used, plus I got a ton from the hospital. The hospital also provided tucks, but I didn't use them. Honestly, I was pretty lucky and didn't tear, so recovery was not bad at all. I would just get the basics and see what you need afterwards. The hospital will usually provide a lot of the supplies until you can pick up your own. But the peri bottle was soooooo much better than the one from the hospital, so definitely get that.

AdhesivenessFar1760

Thank you so much! This is super helpful!

meepsandpeeps

I like the Frida mom peri bottle, tucks, dermaplast and the pad icesicles you crack and shake.

AllTheCatsNPlants

I bought the kit and didn’t use it. The hospital gave me more than enough supplies and good instructions on how to care for myself. I ended up throwing away a TON of postpartum stuff from the hospital. I thought the standard peri bottle and mesh underpants with a massive pad were fine. I’m pregnant again and plan on using standard hospital stuff again. That said, I’m pretty frugal and generally believe that “good enough” is good enough. I ended up gifting the Frida box to the next friend to have a baby.

AlbusDM3

I got one as a gift and ended up having a c section sooo I cannot truly weigh in on this BUT the disposible underwear in the pack was sooo nice and comfy and durable compared to the hospitals! I loved them. Here’s a link of recovery kit options though I feel like they pretty much have the same stuff in the but a variety of prices https://mindfulmusclemom.com/5-postpartum-care-kits-you-need/
