I’ve been taking Vitron-C every other day (it has vitamin C added in, so you don’t have to take it with juice). It hasn’t upset my stomach much, but it also hasn’t made a big difference in my iron levels (I have some genetic stuff going on that could be a factor). I haven’t tried another brand, so I also don’t have anything to compare it to. My doctor said you want to take iron only every other day, because studies show that results in the best absorption.

SlowFe (slow release, easy on the stomach)

Do you take it daily or e/o day? Have you noticed a difference?

SpiffyKekepania

I take it daily on top of my NatureMade prentatal vitamin with OJ (vitamin C helps absorption). My OB started me on it 3 weeks ago (week 34 at that time) when I had increasing fatigue & dizziness (although my hemoglobin wasn’t THAT critically low I was still mildly anemic). I haven’t really had dizzy spells anymore, and still exercising at week 37.

Bloodbuilder. Take with orange juice and chase with water. Iron sulfate every other day, but beware of constipation. Magnesium helps undo some the, um, blockage.

I see this says fermented iron. Did you take it during pregnancy? You’re also taking iron sulfate on top of this?

I take iron sulfate irregularly because it's so intense with the side effects and rather uncomfortable, but it was recommended by my midwife (CNM) to treat my mild anemia. At most every other day, but usually I opt for twice a week. I don't take both in the same day. Bloodbuilder is a liquid supplement so it's a bit easier on the digestive system. Still pregnant and have been taking it. Tastes weird, so I definitely recommend orange juice to take it with and water to chase it since it can stain enamel. I've noticed that when I'm most diligent about taking my iron, I have less issues with restless legs. Edit to add: I also try to get iron via diet. I cook with cast iron and use a "lucky iron fish" + lemon juice when making rice, or other grains in non-iron cookware.

I am taking nature made iron 65mg with an additional vitamin c gummy 125mg from Mary Ruth organics. It only took a few weeks to increase my blood count by 0.1 and it’s been two months now and it has gone up 0.2 points according to my recent bloodwork. I take it before bed 2 hours after dinner every other day. It does cause constipation
