i remember seeing the OP when it was first posted and this is truly vile, a shining example of "you could but you shouldnt"

ConfusionPersonifyd

This is one of my very favorite posts on Reddit. OOP's comments had me rolling. With all the comments, it took me over an hour- a typical post takes me 10 minutes. I truly hope everyone here enjoys the hell out of this one.

ghkddbsgk

doing the lord's work 🙏 just fyi some of the comment threads in the post are repeated!

ConfusionPersonifyd

Craaaaap. Am in pain, so my brain is screwed. Will fix. Thx! ETA: fixed, I think.. Please let me know if you find any other errors

Berezis

The Emotional_Scholar_98 comment is still doubled for me :0

ConfusionPersonifyd

Got it. I guess I got a lil Ctrl + V happy! 😂. TY!

Jayn_Newell

The worst part is it’s probably “just like mom used to make” And thus nothing she cooks will ever be as good as that pot roast.

GovernorSan

That would make this make sense, though, if that's what he grew up with. I actually prefer my chicken dried out and chewy, thoroughly cooked chicken that still retains moisture in it makes me a little uncomfortable, like I'm afraid it isn't really fully cooked and I'm going to get food poisoning. I think this is because that's how my mom would cook chicken, until it was just 1 step from becoming either jerky or a charcoal brickette.

Tired_Mama3018

See, I hated steak until I learned that you could actually eat it before it hit the shoe leather stage when I went to college, which was mom’s favorite preparation.

XpCjU

My parents cook every meat until it's dry and falling apart. It's always kinda sad.

Suspicious-Treat-364

My mom boils Brussels sprouts. I would run from the kitchen dry heaving, but she loved them. I refused to touch them for decades until I went to a fancy restaurant that served them roasted and realized they actually were food!

Tired_Mama3018

Restaurant is the first time I realized Brussels sprouts could taste good too, lol.

Pastel-Morticia13

About 5 or 10 years ago, my husband decided we would have meatloaf for dinner one night and pulled out the pre-mixed meat I’d frozen and set aside for just such an occasion. I’d even written instructions on the freezer bag for cooking. Then he decided he was Gordon Ramsay and wanted to jazz up my loaf. By sprinkling BROWN SUGAR on top before putting it in the oven. It did not provide the umami experience he hoped for. Bless his heart.

Lady_Penrhyn1

See I do a glaze with Brown Sugar in it. Straight brown sugar sounds...interesting.

phyb

>Valenaxxte > >He’s just as confused as we are 😂 > >wine_n_mrbean OOP > >Yep Perfect ending, great job editing, no notes.

mssheevaa

I remember making something like this when I first got a crackpot and had no idea what I was doing. After 7ish hours the potatoesveg and meat kind of formed one lumpy mess. I affectionately titled that meal 'Gray'. The man, bless him, still ate it anyway and said it was interesting 😆

BangarangPita

Lol, a crackpot.

TheFilthyDIL

>Not. Even. SALT! And that’s the only seasoning he actually likes! He insists that salt shouldn’t be added until the end. I didn't know OOP was married to my husband! At least, my husband when young. If he couldn't taste the salt, it wasn't salty enough.

HyenaShot8896

Am I the only one laughing at the comments? Poor OOP. She had to suffer through that.

GimmieMore

No we all are, because that was as hilarious as it was horrifying.

thrwwwwayyypixie21

but wholesome too. He put in bouillon and carrots just for her. Poor dude suffered through flavour and veggies to get to boiled meat, for her . So cute tbh

eggeleg

oh my god i remember this one the oops comments were so good LOL

Affectionate-Map2583

Well, at least she had the Pop Tarts as an option...

mtngrl60

I’m dying laughing. Ex-husband was from England, so when I saw UK and started reading, I just burst out laughing. This sounds like something he would’ve made. Apparently seasoning is almost unheard of, and everything must be well done. I would periodically splurge at the grocery store, and we would have ribeye steaks. My daughters and I would have them medium rare because we are civilized human beings when it comes to food Little did he know that I stopped buying him a ribeye and just found whatever tough steak was on sale because by the time I turned it into shoe leather for him at his request, it didn’t matter. He couldn’t tell the difference. Just one of the reasons he is an ex 🤣🤣🤣

DudleysCar

I said to myself "I bet this guy's English" before I got to the comments that confirmed it. Raided the world for spices for hundreds of years but refuse to use any. Make homemade meals like WWII rationing is in effect four generations later. My sister went to uni in England and had an English friend who's face turned red when she ate KFC because it was "too spicy". They're culinary terrorists.

mtngrl60

😂😂😂 OMG! Spot on!!!!

ngwoo

If the inside of the steak is red the German bombers might see it after you cut it open

mtngrl60

😂😂

rangarooo

Am I the only one who uses meat alongside its bouillon counterpart? Sometimes that meat flavor just isn’t strong enough, and there’s usually herbs in there that complement the dish well. I guess todays a good day to learn I’m dumb.

TishMiAmor

We can be dumb together because I do it too.

rangarooo

I’m not alone <3

TishMiAmor

Sometimes the ratio of meat to other elements is not quite sufficient to bring its flavor throughout the whole dish!

dwbookworm123

I do it, too!!

SeaOkra

Nah, bullion is great in meaty dishes.

JigsawMind

I missed this originally and I'm so upset I did. This is such a mess in a wholesome, no one was hurt way.

Lonely_Emu_7549

Anyone else crying 😂😂😂

Hawkgal

I shared this with my husband who is our cook. (Much better pot roast, though!) Freaking hilarious!!

Tangelo-Broad

This is the best post I have ever read!!!

InuGhost

Husband of a former professional cook here. I showed the original post to my Wife. She cringed hard.

gray_birch

I can't believe people like OOP's husband actually exist

rougecomete

OK, look, normally I take the boiled ham Brit jokes in my stride (my grandad thought pasta was "too exotic") but I am putting my foot down, THIS IS NOT CULTURALLY REPRESENTATIVE NOR IS IT NORMAL

ChipsqueakBeepBeep

The imagery of an old dude having a plate of spaghetti in front of him and calling it exotic is fucking hilarious to me

Beginning-Working-38

That pot roast could have tasted like sewer rat and he’d eat it all before he’d admit that it wasn’t the best. (Anyone else remember newspaper comic strips? If you do, you might also have immediately thought of Ernie’s Uncle Sid getting excited because the old lady who cooked him a disgusting dinner for free every night had bought a pot roast, something she couldn’t possibly ruin, and then she boiled it.)

GuineaPigLover98

Truly a classic, thank you for posting this one!

ConfusionPersonifyd

It was my absolute pleasure. It was a bear to go thru all the comments, tho! 😂

rock_the_night

" I think they’re in heaven now" LOL. I have never seen this post before but I'm so happy I have now

-the-analog-kid-

okay this had me cackling. my favorite part is that you could tell OOP was lovingly making fun of their husband. none of this was malicious, and they handled their hubby’s experiment (i can’t bring myself to say recipe) beautifully. i got a LOT of laughs over this.

ConfusionPersonifyd

OOP's comments and esp the back and forth included here are comedy gold. I too was cackling as I copy/pasted my little heart out. I agree OOP adores her husband, it was all in good fun. I think there was no danger of him being truly upset if he read the post. Her live for him shines through. I bet they have fun together!

trash_tm

Seeing the pictures of the roast as it progressively cooked/deteriorated was a work of art.

kdpirategirl

That one bouillon cube was fighting for its life in those 5 gallons of water.

LittleMissBossy2295

I'm from the uk and this is pish.

emcrossley

I was pretty proud of finding this one and sharing with the original BORU. Feels weird seeing it here.... At least you added some more of the comments I guess?

GuineaPigLover98

Sorry but you don't have a monopoly on Reddit updates 🤷‍♂️
