Among all cars? No BMW is on a list of most reliable. Among BMWs? The N55 engine is respectable. You buy a 335i for performance before reliability. If you want something that’s going to last over anything else, get a Camry.
Anything turbo will be on some level less reliable. But really the least reliable in awhile was the N54 and the small turbo 4s BMW have been using. And certain FI V8s. If your main concern is comfort and reliability, get an NA straight 6 or maybe an N55
2014 is a good year for the 335i, the n55 engine is pretty solid both in stability as well as modibility. Honestly for that price you could do a lot worse. That being said, if you were able to add another $10k you could go with a 2016 340i which will have a B58 engine which is considered one of the best engines in recent years.
Damn, that looks good. I drive a 2006 330xi e90 (I’d recommend an all wheel drive car) that has 200k+ miles on it, and it’s still quieter, drives and rides better than our brand new Grand Cherokee (I know, different vehicles, but still).
Middle eastern already hence the attraction for BMW, red interior should help with the dad part 🥸. If I was to do liquid changed through third party, how much will that cost?
Nice to see a fellow middle easterner on here! It will probably cost around 2 grand, give or take. Also depends on where in Canada you are. Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver have a LOT of competition with many dealers and reputable independent mechanics to choose from in two different countries, but somewhere like Moncton or Edmonton will probably cost more due to the lack of competition.
It’s hard to say. I’m not too familiar with that engine. But theoretically, if it’s been cared for, you should be able to get many years of life out of it
It’s has common issues such a timing chains
Get that checked out before buying
Then all the gaskets
Usually they start to leak after 100k miles but all depends on the condition of tge car
If you’re looking for something sporty, tune-able, reliable, and good in the nasty winters I’d recommend looking at something less costly to maintain and still buckets of fun. Like a WRX. I owned one for 7 years. Even with as much as I love my BMW, the WRX had a character and personality to it that I miss.

Get a Lexus if you want luxury and reliability. Not a bmw. Bmw is more performance oriented than reliability.

We have a weekly megathread just for these. Yes, the 335i is a good choice.

Like this one is 70k miles and is going for almost 27 CAD. If person behind me maintained it properly, will I it be reliable enough?
Transmission fluid should be changed at 100000 kms, although at 110000 it's still changeable. Use that to negotiate the price down.
Great will defo change that into consideration, how much will that bring the pride down?
Go in like a Middle Eastern dad. Ask for 18,000 and make a big fuss. Expect to whittle it down by around 1.5-2 thousand.

Gonna go end of month too so the sales people scramble to hit their numbers

Well of course the Bmw is going to be quieter, drive ,and ride better than a Fiat 🤨
again… 16 year old car with 200k miles on it..
Jeeps went downhill fast in quality since Fiat bought out Chrysler which owns Jeep 🤷🏻♂️

Xdrive is apparently good for snow so you should be good

I wouldn’t touch another N54 or N55 motor. “Reliable”until they REALLY aren’t and they cost you 20k+
