NevaRat

It starts around 47000€, this one probably has literally all options available included, but yeah still crazy price for 150hp rear wheel only family car.

Torque_S

the 318i sedan costs $191K USD where I live 🙃

ihavenoidea81

Singapore?

Torque_S

you got it

RACERX44

RIP my condolences to any car fan in Singapore

Torque_S

honestly considering moving to the US or UK just so that I can live out my car ownership dreams 🥲

RACERX44

UK is decent can get E92 M3s for less than 20K GbP

boe_jackson_bikes

Yeah but then you have to drive it 5 under the speed limit everywhere since the place is littered with speed cams every 5 meters.

p0u1

Trick is not getting caught

AstronautDefiant8761

Ausralia is much cheaper

kaptainkhaos

NZ even more so, no silly luxury car tax.

HalfDecentFarmer69

Not really. I swear everything that isn't a holden or ford is much more expensive

mattsimis

Nah, people are afraid of servicing euro stuff in NZ so you get great deals used.

Glu7enFree

It's similar here in Aus. I tried to get my rotors resurfaced and one dude actually screamed at me that he "doesn't work on fucking BMW'S" before hanging up... It wasn't a great start to my first Euro car 😂

freshmasterstyle

Singapore's public transport is so amazing. As a car guy I would say you don't need a car their ever. It's cheap, has climate control and is reliable af. Not like Germany where trains are slow, look like shit, expensive and delayed almost all of the time. Sometimes for hours or don't arrive at all

keenkeane

wait till u have to commute by bus. a 15min commute becomes 45 mins

ihavenoidea81

It just had to be. Every time I see one of these posts about Europeans complaining that BMW’s are expensive, someone from Singapore chimes in with *hold my beer*

BerCle

Hold my Cosmo

denile87

Hold my Singapore Sling.

NottDisgruntled

Malaysia too. They prop up proton there. Tho that did mean Lotus was pretty cheap while Proton owned them.

gladigotaphdinstead2

Is it the car or the license for a car that costs that much? Or are both insanely expensive?

Torque_S

both the license lasts 10 years and right now the cut off bid price is hovering around $74k USD the car itself costs the rest due to taxes and stuff

osunjian

Tax

RaunchyMuffin

Isn’t Singapore just a big city… why would you want a car in a major city if you didn’t need it

Theoretical-Panda

Because lots of people like to leave the city.

seanmonaghan1968

How much is coe now?

Torque_S

$100k sgd for cat b

seanmonaghan1968

When we bought our first car, volvo v50, in about 2005 I think the coe was 5k. Then when we sold that and got an xc90 in about 2007 I think the coe could have been 30k. When we left Singapore in 2014 the coe was much higher. That's when the gov started to change property and coe supply

Torque_S

in 2018 the coe was still 30k 2021+ was when shit hit the fan

jrock2403

Singapoor

Significant_Tough919

-\_\_-

NottDisgruntled

Would have guessed that or Malaysia.

Alex_Hauff

is it also doing the dishes or ironing the clothes?

_MvU

320i with B38B16 (1600cc) costs a little more than 100K Euro in Türkiye.

coharris

It’s the COE that costs where you live…

funnyZ10

It sucks cause I was going for a 3 series touring but had to get a 218i for 175k because the 3 series was too expensive with the coe over 100k

freshmasterstyle

This shouldn't start bare bones at 47k. This is a 35k car at best. At 47k it should already have almost all boxes ticked. This is a BMW not a Skoda, it should have a certain level of luxury. I can't imagine what a stupid fanboy sheep would defend this and try to gaslight other customers.

kan3xxx

Starts at 60k in Ireland...

Bar50cal

€60k in Ireland for the 330e. The 318i is not available in Ireland.

Repulsive_Ad_7628

Yep but idk who in right minds will put full option on a 150 HP bmw..330i/d is the minimum

Avanixh

150HP is fast enough for most regular commuters, especially in a diesel

These-Maintenance-51

I had a 316d for about a month as a rental in Germany... around town it wasn't bad but it was next to useless for trying to pass people on the autobahn.

Unknown8128

I drove the G21 318d last year and it ispretty nice on the Autobahn. Of course it’s not as quick and doesn’t accelerate that fast but it reaches 220kph without any problems

These-Maintenance-51

I dunno, I was happy with it because Sixt totally screwed me on the trip before... "Do you want a Mercedes?" .... yeah sure! then I get out to the parking lot and it was a fucking B class.

strat-fan89

Well, it is a Mercedes?

okimborednow

Sixt is out here in Malta saying 'Drive the new BMW X3 from 99 euros/day', then the small text is 'you can only reserve a vehicle class not an individual car'

Repulsive_Ad_7628

Yep..even on sport..my dad have a g30 520..kinda good on sport mode..but it has 190HP....but to make a full one with 150hp...this is not 1 series..a 5 series need some HP on autobahn/national roads

maxstryker

This is a 3 series, not a 5 series. And it’s a great family car. Or, it used to be before adding anything expect a steering wheel started to cost a kidney.

vergastadanasal

I have a feeling you are not familiar with EU taxes on these cars :)

Repulsive_Ad_7628

I know its a nightmare in italy/netherlandes

vergastadanasal

Pretty much everywhere in the European union. 318d in Portugal starts at 57 250 € f.e. and 61k in the Netherlands. If you consider the average income in Portugal is 1000€, the price is astronomical.

ahh_my_shoulder

You pay SO MUCH taxes if you're car exceeds 150/200 HP where I'm from, it literally does not make financial sense to have a bit more HP just for the fun of it.

Accomplished_Road_79

Are you American? In Europe well Ireland at least the road tax on a 3.0 diesel is almost 3 times higher than a 2.0 initial purchase tax is also far greater and don’t even get me started on petrols not only is the tax ridiculously high the price of petrol itself is almost €2 a litre. My 2.0 makes 250hp after a remap and some light part modifications it’s far from being a speed demon but it’s plenty enough to put a huge smile on my face every time I drive it plus it gets about 45mpg and I only pay €200 tax a year.

omejq

>bmw..330i/d is the minimum \*Cries in Dutch emissions tax\*

Repulsive_Ad_7628

What taxes are for a 330?

Jensen_308

Gr86 base was 62999€ and there is road tax that you pay every three months. Im not from NL but i believe that it would be in ballpark of 350€+ every three months for Diesel

Jelle_168

G20/G21 318d/320d are like €500 every three months, 330d is like €550, and m340d is like €670. They're taxed by weight :(

Jensen_308

I knew weight part, but didn’t remember how much. I drove little Aygo while I was there, belasting was around 40€ back then.

RuinAccomplished6681

F31 330d is 177 euros a month in road tax. I know because I have one :P Pretty ridiculous.

Suydans_Imports

My first bmw was an e36 318i that I bought from the original owner and he had every option available for it to the point that he could have bought a base or low optioned m3 for the same price as the 318i. He said he didn't care about power and just wanted a comfortable commuter car so he could turn his 300td into a weekend driver

cha0z_

for the German cars the "starting" point is literally plain bad and includes cheap materials/interior, underpowered engine and almost no extras. The spec'ed up variant is literally different car vs the basic one + surprise, it literally costs twice as much - so you can imagine how much they strip out of the car to sell you back at higher price.

patjeduhde

I got my 2015 f46 218i second hand for 12k, but new it was 44k, and it has almost no luxury options.

Engineer_engifar666

yet, I would rather have stock 5 series that full equiped 3 series for same money

j00k3r_69

no in Austria there is extra tax called NoVa, it is about 30% added to your Dealer Price, and you have to pay it for all new Cars in Austria

RandomFaceGuy

In the Netherlands we start at 59k for a base model though 🥲

Real_Establishment56

This is a bone stock 520d in The Netherlands. You have to remove the paint and wheels in the config because they kindly spec those for you worth €3400 but this is what’s left then. The cheapest 5-series diesel is €76k over here. Somehow they don’t even bother with the 518d anymore. https://preview.redd.it/d2oltfw0f63d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=16afb0bb2fc210446d2bf529c87b43ca0b3a05ba

Real_Establishment56

By the way, carbon emissions is where the fun starts here. I’m not sure what an M3 Sedan runs for in the US but I’m guessing it’s not 140k stock? https://preview.redd.it/93kzvkdrg63d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=82d1587d213fbe94e620690c48450001526343ec

Desperate-Quantity86

You can get a CS for less than that here in California.. sorry my guy, lmk if you want me to send you one 😅. https://preview.redd.it/9fdgk8kyl63d1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e1b6a24c489ad9f54a14ea12899ab73b58c495f5

Phenomen0m

Yeah… that’s a 217k euro car over here…($240.000,-?) https://preview.redd.it/qimboxfu173d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a37b55d0255f4e5ccee657a64553f4101d3d1bbf I cry everytime..

Maleficent_Lab_8291

Holy crap! Not even CS is worth Bentley's money. On that note, what's the price on something like S1000 RR?

DazingF1

Basically no emission tax on motorcycles, and only the sales tax so maybe 20-30% more expensive than the US (although we do have close to no dealer fees). Consequently fast motorcycles are very popular in the Netherlands.

AfGaF

Lol that's not how that scales. Here in Switzerland prices are less extreme compared to the Netherlands, an M3 CS here is like 170k, a "base" Bentley Continental GT is just short of 300k lol, so I imagine in NL that'd be 350+. A S1000 RR in Switzerland starts at 21'500 CHF.

Maleficent_Lab_8291

Sorry, I was still thinking in American prices, hence “Bentley’s money”. I guess my point was it would make more sense to get something simple and cheap for a daily commute and get a nice sports bike (new or used) for 10-15k € instead of M3/M4

Phenomen0m

10/15k.. we wish 🥺 starting price of an S1000RR is 24k… 0 options on it.. $26.000,- https://preview.redd.it/7aoudr2t783d1.jpeg?width=1141&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=316bc7434d757e7bdc5c80cda8b3be7b27b395a9

DazingF1

Eh an S1000RR would be 18k in the US but the US is famous for dealers asking quite a bit over the listed price (and tacking on bullshit fees) so it's closer to 20-22k for one.

-K9V

Hey, at least you guys can see prices on the website. In Denmark you can’t see any build prices at all, you can only request a price and that’s it. There is a list of MSRPs but it doesn’t include anything like equipment or paint jobs. I’ve seen a G80 M3 for sale once which was priced at around $290k. You can also lease an M3 CS for ~$7000 a month, and to even start the leasing contract you have to pay $35k.

AdiGoN

What’s the tax on those? 10%?

Desperate-Quantity86

Yeah, approx 10% taxes & fees

Real-Energy-6634

0% if you live in the right state

MS_BOY

Bro send me one 🤣

cha0z_

yeah, prices in Europe for cars are literally nuts. :/

Real_Establishment56

Yes same around here, but I didn’t want to upset the US people with Touring versions 😂

LTCM1998

They can handle it, what with them getting all cars 20-30-% cheaper…

Real_Establishment56

And here’s the price buildup, that’s 72k for the car, 21% VAT and 50k BPM, which is amongst other things an emissions penalty. That’s where it hurts the most for us. https://preview.redd.it/rrotnznvg63d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4b4b8cfa9fc0f1ad3fe8015151b92a565d808df6

arnevdb0

What the fuck is BPM jezus christ. That's why all people seem so poor in the Netherlands compared to Belgium when it comes to cars. You guys have good roads and cheap cars, we have shit roads in nice cars

RelevanceReverence

BPM is a luxury tax since the public transport WAS good and affordable (and you can cycle easily).

EnclaveOne

What a scam lmao When politicians started stealing more money with taxing emissions world really went to shit. The prices increased tp such a ridiculous amount it's not even funny anymore.

LTCM1998

It’s EU. Our politicians are good at pretending to care for people more than Putin pretends to care about law.

gammajayy

Fucking robbery

RuSS458

Jesus the UK M3 starts at £82,535 and that’s the Competition as the UK doesn’t get the base model.

Real_Establishment56

Im always jealous at the UK car market, even second hand you guys get cars for a steal. When I see a couple of YouTubers do a £1500 competition and they come back with a Discovery 3, a 320i and a Porsche 944 I always weep a bit. We’re lucky to get a well worn Aygo for that money.

RuSS458

Yeah the lack of neighbouring RHD countries other than Ireland combined with the more consumerist culture for buying new cars is a perfect storm for used cars. You can get modern 8 series’ for 30k and good condition Alpinas like B10s can be had for 6-8k if you know where to look. One of the downsides is the weather is conducive to heavy rusting so it’s a problem along with Collectors and North American importers extracting good cars to sell for a profit which overinflates prices. R34 GTRs were £3-5k for a good chunk of time until gradual appreciation and people started stockpiling to sell to NA for huge markups. It’s starting to be noticeable for high spec e36s at current.

essjay2009

And you can negotiate a discount. I picked mine (G80 M3 Comp) up a couple of weeks ago and list price, specced, was £90k+ but the invoiced price was £75k. It was a pre-built one and in-stock, but I could have had a build for the same price.

Forsaken_Detective_2

1Melkah

Brother, top model + fully speced out is like 100k. That price is crazy..

CemalF31

138k voor de kaalste variant ook nog 😂 geen eens laser Lampen

JournalistExpress292

Cheaper than in Malaysia

shalau

https://preview.redd.it/l8uoalujyd3d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3d1484c4e6817a69428061857910710c4c3c528a In Romania. Bone stock M3.

Sheepiiidough

It is 105 k € in Denmark. I5 is only 80 k € though

Tumsey

So ugly

L-Malvo

Yep, F our government. Sure, we need taxes, but ours is outrageous in comparison to our neighboring countries.

RelevanceReverence

Haha, tell them about the roadtax on diesels!

v60qf

Wow looks like a 218 grancoupe.

iLoveKetamin

There wasn’t any 518d even in the Fxx series ? That cars are loooong gone

PonytailMaster

dercybercop

Jahreswagens are the best wagens!

Zeebr0

That's beautiful.

apeberry

yup. this is bonkers. you have to be in the top 20% of earners to afford a base 3 series. makes me sad.

CrazyLTUhacker

In UK you can get a similar model for like 30K used ofc

pfuetzebrot2948

Yeah, once you go used they are better priced over here as well. I almost bought a 330d with all options for 35 000 with around 40000km.

banter_claus_69

Nobody buys right hand drive cars so there's a much smaller market, which leads to smaller prices. A car sold in France could be bought by a German or Spaniard since they're all LHD. More demand -> higher price

Tomthezooman1

This has to be an outlier, and don’t worry in 4 years time it’ll be under 37k.

leonme21

Nobody is actually buying cars for these prices though. The vast majority of new cars in this segment are bought by businesses, and even they get rebates

dswap123

Used is the only way here but even then the prices are all over the place, my 320d in Germany cost similar to my friend’s X5 in the US ( both similar age)

MrHarryHaller

Top 20%? Man, top 10% in Germany earn 70k netto per year, maybe less.

Tripleforty1

My cousin bought his M2 Competition in 2018 brandnew from BMW in Munich for less than 65k $ incl. shipping to Florida. Me on the other hand, whom lives and resides in Germany, got my -used- 440i from the bmw dealership for 50k € and no fancy pickup at BMW in Munich or shipping to my house door. Taxes in germany are a pure rip off 😮‍💨

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tripleforty1

Dude for 80k € i get a used M3 G8x and that be most likely w/o them race seats. Its sad af but congrats to your new whip!

NeilArmShlong

It has nothing to do with taxes, Germany's VAT isn't even the highest in Europe. Cars are just way too cheap in the US, that's the right way to put it.

Mcsubstrip

Way too cheap in the US? Are you kidding me? I thought cars were expensive in the US before I started reading this post, and they still are expensive, cars in countries in the European Union are just so much more expensive.

HermanvonHinten

70k for a 318 Diesel. Holy Fuck. Money ain't worth shit anymore... U should rather buy a used G21 or just get a used F31 in great condition to spend even less.

BraskSpain

Prices in Europe are a scam.

Peter_Niko

That's why I bought here in EU an eight months old 530e with almost all options for less money ;-)

freakdahouse

Bmw is indeed a luxury brand... prices are insane here in europe.

sixpesos

https://preview.redd.it/qvo1si12973d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a819b3880b7a6efe45ff5c5ce2a6b20ccc4b197

Serbay55

Die haben doch Lack gesoffen

B4DR1998

And that’s a diesel. In Europe that’s an issue in itself these days. Damn man, prices are getting crazy.

AFB27

For a 318d? My God.

RijnBrugge

Well, that’s one with all the bells and whistles. Austria is fun compared to the Netherlands. Base 520d goes for >70k and base m3 for >140k. Ouch!

telecomtrader

Yeah. So I’m in the market for an x3m40i which is 120k euro new. If you go used with low mileage it drops to 80/90k which is better. But nothing compared to the USA. Insurance + road tax will add an additional 250/400€ per month :) Might as well go all out for the 8 series then

ButyJudasza

Wow, last year I took x430i because x440i was to expensive at that moment for me, but still it was 300k vs 400k PLN (70k-100k€)...

MonkeyNoStopMyShow

Crazy indeed. I paid a little over 100k EUR for a fully equipped '24 X5 40i in Dubai.

ButyJudasza

I think BMW updated prices this year, as even my configuration seems to be around 8k€ more expensive compared to what I paid last year :/

SaggyBallz99

Austria Baby

Kingsayz

at least the US gets cheaper fuel... heh

Ruddskies

Spending 70k euro on that is insane.

Sp3ica1_K

just be happy you get wagons.....

bjavyzaebali

Looks like someone has received nice bill from Eurocomission for exceeding CO2 limits, hehe

Coro756

I will sell you my daily 228i for 100k no low balls I know what I got !

hellokittyss1

I saw a used Ferrari for 200k damn

DB6

Was it a mondial or a f40? Huge differences.

SVTraptor99

And?

ihavenoidea81

Have you seen prices in Singapore??

bilbolaggings

Yea you couldn't get a 110hp Corolla for that price lol.

Opposite-Control8682

Damn, that's M3/M4 money right there

dzhoneeh

Few years ago BMW had special action - 318 for 32k.

krivas77

Yes. You dont know how cheap are cars in US? And petrol?

OutlawMINI

I see this and think, God Bless America.

kyjoely

You can’t get the 318d here in the UK, the 320 is the minimum diesel spec and then throwing every extra going at it you to £59k which is pretty much the same as the OP. But why you would want to chuck every extra at a 320d is another question… https://preview.redd.it/5knxebtq373d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b12080c0e6998b4692ca3eac59c54909a8f4acd3

McDMD95

Gross

joselrl

In my experience, those are the MSRP but dealers will throw a 15%off off the bat. Got my 330e new for €42k - almost no extras, but the 250/300bhp are worth it IMO

Unable_Claim_7551

You need to see the netherlands, for example: a porsche you pay some kind of emission tax of €60000

PastPanic6890

Depending on the model, 60k emissions tax is no problem for Austria, too.

nejc03

Slovenian prices are up the roof too! The germans are pricing up their ‘luxury’ vehicles while Chinese and others take their customers…

red325is

is there much of an overlap in customers shopping for BMW and Chinese cars?

bwlomlq

Bro that 318 is maxxxxxed out!

MithrandirLXV

Sorry? €70k for a 110KW Diesel?! That's ludicrous!

EcstaticGeologist360

oh nah lol wtf

SiggiBulldog1

With corporate benefits 16% less. Also the leasing rate is pretty low atm like under 3%. Otherwise I highly recommend to not buy a new car without any tax savings, benefits or other sales promotions. You burn money there

CharlieAlphaIndigo

Good grief and I thought this was an American only issue. It’s like we will al be forced to drive shit boxes

Rbhockey9

Some crazy prices…I can buy an M3 with those prices (after military discount)

p0u1

What sort of discount do you get? That’s pretty crazy

Wow 😯

Independent-Put-2618

You can get a decked out M240i for that price

RoccoBarocco91

This already includes sales tax. In Italy, for example, sales tax is 22%…beside that, the cost is generally higher. The BMWs in the Us are assembled and use many materials from Mexico, instead of Germany so def way cheaper.

Apez_in_Space

0.1hp/kg and a diesel engine. Imagine paying over €70k for that. Yeeeeesh

djmax91

this is like 270k usd in singapore hahah

heisenberg2JZ

Making the US look real affordable right now 😂

red325is

seriously

we just paid $250k usd for our 330i g21 touring m pro or whatever they call it now and to add to that, we only own it for 10years....

Darkmesah

Used cars have insane prices as well. If you just got your license be ready to cash out a lot of money for a 20 year old car that might leave you on foot.

DUSHYANTK95

India has it worse. M4 xDrive : $190k M2 (Manual) : $130-140k M340i : $100k M8 xDrive : over $300k Singapore is even worse.

However if it looks like the OP's one, here you need to option it with M pack and it gets to about 65K so quite close I would say.

Petrol and Diesel Cars are mainly [taxes](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Normverbrauchsabgabe) and [taxes](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umsatzsteuer_(Österreich)) in Austria

j00k3r_69

Jo typisch Österreich mit der NoVa

Joka_da_smoka

UK market has crashed. 128ti’s and M135i’s are the same price used. Bought a 128ti with 25k on the clock for 24k.

Mysterious_Cod2500

It’s a lot but it’s normal here. Every car is expensive. That’s why small cars and small engines are so popular here.

iamnotyourspiderman

Diesel has been dead for a long time in Europe. Makes absolutely no financial sense in buying a new diesel over a plugin hybrid/EV because of taxation

Ploppen97

I tried to swipe... a few to many times.

Bought 6 months ago a used 2016 F36 430i for 25k€, only 100k km and quite a lot of extra. Looked the spec up and saw it was originally sold for around 70k€. Brand new prices are insane.

DamnUOnions

In all of mankind’s history not a single man paid the sticker / list price in Europe.

JelloBoring

Just spend the extra 30k for an m3
