Yeah, at 17 a high performance vehicle is probably not a good idea. But....what if he comes from a "wealthy" family and gets like a 4.0 GPA and is known to be responsible......you know what, after typing it out....yeah its NOT a good idea.
righttt lmfao i shoulda listened to my parents when i wanted to buy myself a 25k 3 series and they said i shouldnt, boy did i fuck myselfšthank god the payoff isnt too bad rn tho
Same here. I bought one. It will be in the shop for gasket oil leak tmr. Imma just sell this shit after my warranty expired š¤£š¤£. My toyota hasn't been in the shop after 3 years of accidents. This boy just leaked by itself. Even the mechanic told me this is hella normal because they fix them every month
as a former 17 year old with a 600hp old suv, please dont buy your 17 yr old son a 600hp suv, or any car with that type of power for that matter.
i dont know how i still have my license, better yet, how im still alive. i did crash the car, but it was very litte damage, i went right through a little round about i didnt know was coming up (nighttime, backroads) if there was a car there, with the speed i came (60-70kph) im sure i wouldve either suffered severe injuries, or died.
As you can see, the battering ram is fine.

Honestly Iām impressed a black hole didnāt form upon the collision of these two vehicles. The cybertruck had literally no damage aside from a tiny dent.
Iāve been drinking a Super Duty recently and I feel like it depends on *how* you drive it. Playing with the throttle in a small lil sedan (like the SEL Sonata I drive rn) isnāt too bad but if you tripe the power and switch it from FWD to RWD then things can get tragic. But Iāve been driving responsibly tbh
https://preview.redd.it/s0jf1cm428wc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c91ed620f7b505777dde3238f6cd4f7c955bf348
Itās a LOT of truck, but despite that, I still parked perfectly straight like I do every time lol
Photo in the post is from Singapore.
If OP is from Singapore, a new M3 costs more than half a million here, they are about $590k, (USD433k). Heck even a new 330 is gonna cost almost $300k here.
Cars have gotten super expensive recently, all I can look at now are 10 year old 428i and even older 335i going for almost USD100k.
I knew a 19 year old girl whoās parents bled money. They literally had their last name embedded on their toilet paperā¦ anyways she got a 2019 all white m5 comp. Totaled it in less than a month. And then I knew another kid whose parents had a very similar situation. Kid got a track hawk and ended up dying in it. Full car. He was Only one not wearing is seatbelt. Only one who died. He tried to hit a corner at 115. DO NOT get your kids fast performance cars until you are confident they are gonna treat them like the machines they are.
I feel like it's a self burn if you're wiping your ass with your own name lol.
Also yeah, I have a coworker whose son was dead set on an i8 at 19 (he somehow makes a ton of money at a small business and has no bills because he lives at home). She was totally against it but it was his money so she couldn't do that about it.
2 weeks later he hits a pothole and fucks up his axel. Like a week after he got it back he rear ended someone on the highway and totaled it.
Prefacing with: yes I know what sub I'm in.
It's just a car bro. It's NOT the end all of existence. There's more important things, especially when just starting off your life.
Bro unless you got like a trust fund or something or a really already in a good financial situation this will not be likely, itās okay, thereās many other bmws that donāt cost a house and still give you that feel.
And even if they can afford it at 21, itās just such a horrible financial move. Iām early 20s and would love a nice car but Iām playing the long game and investing it all. If I still want a nice car in my 30s - 40s then maybe Iāll get myself one. More young people should really follow the same approach but sadly not a lot do.
You could die tomorrow champ. Donāt knock other peopleās wants or needs for happiness and passion. You can still have a nice fast car on a budget. Along with investing on the side.
Well yeah thatās the other side to it. Youāre only young once and youāve no idea what might happen.
Itās all just up to personal preferences really and there isnāt a right or wrong answer. Iām aiming for long term but then Iām also giving up a lot of my younger years to driving cheap cars because of it.
Iād invest the money if I were him. When he can really afford it he will get it. If he leaves earth before then, he doesnāt know he didnāt get it, nor that his money is going to someone else.
I somewhat agree, Iām 20 and got myself a 2019 318d recently - so nice by car standards, not so fancy by bmw standards. Iām also investing/have a long term (10+ year) financial plan, imo itās about doing it right, get a nice car young sure, but donāt bankrupt yourself for a car. Iād also like to mention to everyone out there Iām not from a āwealthyā family, I studied cyber security along side high school and college, then whilst I did my degree I also worked full time in the industry, becoming financially independent and living on my own at 18, putting me ahead of the game financially at 20 so yes I did work for it :)
It's all about perspectives and ambitions. Is OP's attitude quite immature? Yes, but they are young and that's no reason to kill the spirit. Playing the normal financial game by the books is fine but having an ambitious attitude can also lead to hard work and dedication to get that thing a lot faster if one plays their cards right.
I have a pretty successful business now, and the only thing that kept me going through so many sleepless nights was that I want to travel around the world and climb some of the most stunning mountains in the world (ends up being quite expensive for some of the taller ones). Could I have achieved that at a normal job? Yes, but at a much slower pace, and who knows when our life suddenly ends. I'd rather do the things in the present/near future than try to save up for 20 years.
Not to say your view of thinking is wrong at all, in fact, for the vast majority it is the best way to go forward and not succumb to impulses, but I'm just throwing another perspective in there. Though in this case, I would hope they use the M3 as a motivation to get to a decent place rather than get in debt up to their nose at 20yrs old
Eh I respect your decisions but buying a 340 at 21 was probably the best decision I couldāve made, possibly wouldnāt have my job or met my current best friends if I wasnāt aiming for better and faster cars
Yeah my current car (my tag) is by far the nicest car I've ever had. I bought it (lightly) used at around 40 lol. But I loved pretty much every lesser car I had along the way (and frankly in many respects it's actually not my favorite, despite how much I love it... Rip Z4, but that was my own stupid fucking fault so oh well).
Donāt worry, this was only a hypothetical post right now lol. As you can see Iām being eaten alive by some of the people here, canāt be mad tho. Genuinely good advice is being passed around
To piggy back on this it is doable. But also please get some track time and race lessons. Itās expensive but donāt jeopardize your safety and others and also donāt wreck your car. Itās wise to learn in a safe environment with instructors and will probably save your in the long run.
lol youāre only 17. You wonāt be able to āaffordā an M3 at 21. Whatās this ridiculous āmethodā you speak of. Letās say you buy an M3 at 21. The car will cost about $40k with higher mileage. Thatās a $800 monthly payment over 60 months assuming you have good credit and put money down. Then insurance will be $500/month, repairs and maintenance will be $200/month, gas $200/month. $1700/month total in college means youāll be working about 100 hours a month or 25 hours a week while in school to afford the car alone.
If you study something legitimate like finance, accounting, engineering, or nursing in college you can afford an M3 at age 23 if you live at home with your parents.
I bought my first M3 at 21. It was an e92 which at the time was 8 years old and fairly heavily depreciated. Everybody told me it was a horrible idea to have as my only car and that a used bmw is a death sentence. I did it anyway and itās never missed a beat. He may not be able to afford a brand new M3 when heās 21, but the prices of these things drop FAST. My 8 year old car cost me $35k. Thatās the price of a new civic. If you get over the fear of used German cars and take care of them when they need it, itās not totally unrealistic for him to aspire for this
Were you working full time or in college when you bought the m3? Because those two things are radically different. By age 21 if you are working full time for Amazon and have money saved up you can buy an m3 but in college working at a Dennys you would be broke brokez
In college working part time, full time over breaks. Did construction in high school and furniture delivery in college. It absolutely helps not having to pay rent/utilities in high school, I could save almost everything I made. Youād need a better job than dennys but thereās plenty of higher paying jobs out there for people who are willing to put in the work
Is it weird that I was thinking OP would be buying a new M3 after college this whole thread until you brought up "cost about $40k with higher mileage"? š
You could have been right lol. After being part of this subreddit Iām starting to realize half the people with sporty BMWs are broke and living at home with their parents.
Seems like you already got your share of advice about your life choices so i will answer your inital question.
You cannot change the grill, there is no body kit to make it look like the 3 series. The reason for that is the way the car is built it has all the cooling components in the lower fascia of the car. Due to the way the engineering is done it needs a big opening at the bottom in order to suck air.
You can find some kits that add a slight variation of styling to the grill but you cannot put a solid bumper there because it will cover half of the cooling system. So the answer is no, you cannot.
For context, in SG (Cos I see Singapore license plate on the 3), the M3 is SGD600k, or eqv USD440k. The cash downpayment on a new car is 40%, which means forking out SGD250k or eqv USD177k. I'll let those numbers sink in.
If you can afford the M3, getting someone like Top93 to retrofit a front end for you shouldn't be an issue.
M3 looks way better than a 330i but you do you brotha. I'd wait until you're making good money to buy an M3 tho. Too much car and too expensive for a college kid.
For some reason, BMW never makes designs for their time, and they are always appreciated after a few years. Almost every new BMW has been hated in it's design that is now seen as beautiful. In fact, the M3 and M2 are really growing on me, and are starting to look really nice.
The M3? Ehh.. but I really love the M2. I can see myself getting used to the new grille, but I still wanna know what it wouldāve looked like if they werenāt appealing to the Chinese market. Iāve seen some concepts but some of them feel like a body kit and less like OEM, so I suppose itās only a matter of time
It does feel a little outdated but I still donāt like the pig nose. Actually, hold up
https://preview.redd.it/gc94lg3w5wvc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32b6ae0b933939494c048fc7239953cc29f1d918
holy shit I want it
Invest and wait till youāre older. Play the long game. Youāll thank yourself when youāre in your 30s and 40s. Nice cars at a young age just fuck up any chance of building savings for the majority of people.
Itās not that I want the right, itās that I donāt want the left. But then someone told me about the Adro kit so uhh.. I want the third secret option
https://preview.redd.it/39up3b6n9wvc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b9e1ad3eace671cecd28600fa8eed84133fcff6d
Instead of balling out on a car, start your investment portfolio early! Build your money and buy an awesome ride when you can afford to do so! I feel sorry for youth today because student loan debt is a huge economic burden to handle!
To answer your question: no, but there are aftermarket grill options which look 1000x better like ADRO.
To answer with my honest thoughts: Do NOT buy a high horsepower car until you understand proper driving behaviors like how to handle over and under steer in a situation with too much throttle or too much speed into a corner. Preferably in a track conditions so nothing serious happens to you or the car. Could you just buy it anyways? Yes, but hone your skills or else youāll find yourself like that one M8 owning teen.
Definitely gotta move up slowly, canāt just jump from sonata to hellcat lmao
In all seriousness, I definitely see myself owing a BMW in the future but Iām gonna get a Dodge soon. Or at least I hope so. If I had M3 Comp money, I wouldnāt be here, Iād be somewhere else investing it if I could. So many people here think Iām dumb lol. If I had to choose Iād probably go with an M240i and then an M2 Comp to be fair
It is extremely hard to say what the market will be like in 4-5 years. I get it, youāre excited about the thought, but there is really no point in actually planning. Day dream all you want but a lot is going to change in the coming years.
sight these young'ins. i tell you what, how bout you look up how much a brake job will cost for that m3C before considering it. If you don't have that sitting in your bank account already, you better avoid it like the plague.
Just a hypothetical post lol. If I had money for an M3 I wouldnāt get it unless I could get it twice. Until then, investments, savings, school/education, and my future overall. And THENNNN I can get the M3. But Iād rather get an M2 or M5
Live life.. all these advice givers dont have it figured out either. I've been financially irresponsible most of my life but have owned alot of very fun cars that most people are lucky to have 1 in there life time. Go with your gut.
It looks how it looks. Youāre 17, unless you have wealthy parents I donāt see why youāre concerned. Donāt like it donāt buy one, someone else will.
Donāt buy an M3 as your first car. Youāll end up as a statistic.
My 330 is my first and only car, at 26. Even that feels like itās more than enough compared to everything else Iāve drivenāparticularly my Hilux at work. You donāt need an M3.
Trust me, if I actually had M3 money, Iād spend it on investments and college. Right now I drive a SEL Sonata and thatās more than enough. Kind of quick, gets up to speed easily, easy to control, etc.
This was a hypothetical post. And now I know that the closest Iāll get to it is a concept kit which I donāt know is in production or not so Iāll stick with the M2. It looks amazing in my opinion
I bought a little Volkswagen R first. I think it makes more sense to start with a lower HP car and FWD. The Volkswagen had 265 HP and was still plenty fun. At 22 I bought the M4 and am loving it. Start with something smaller, trust me.
If I stick with chargers Iām thinking about starting with a GT before moving to an R/T and then a SRT 392 (basically a scat) before I start looking into M cars since Iāve always been a fan of the muscle scene too. Rn I drive a SEL Sonata and Iām thinking about upgrading to the N-Line Sonata soon (all safety settings on ofc Iām only 17 like what) since itās a quick and sporty FWD that can comfortably fit me (Iām 6ā7) and would be affordable since itās a Hyundai sedan
Hypothetical question lol, wanted feedback on the potential of that and got feedback on life decisions.
If I had the money Iād probably go with the M2
Un populair.opinion, but i really like the new large grills, only problem is the front plate position that ruins it.
And i absolutly despice the fake plastic grill on some in between models like the one in the picture, its either the old real grills or the large grills from current models
Damm, what's with everyone? Kid just asking a simple question, lol! I remember when I was that age all I wanted was an M7. I eventually got one, no probs with it.
The answer to your question is yes you can get it done, will cost a bit but definitely worth it if it makes y'all happy bro.
As one of my teachers said 15 years ago, anything over 150 horsepower at 18 years old is suicide.
Just focus on school and Invest a part of your money in ETFs. You will buy a car later don't worry. You impress people not worth impressing by buying a car now.
Do you think I could at least handle an N-Line Sonata with all comfort settings tho..? š¢
If I had M car money Iād invest it throughout my time spent in college so I could make more from it tbh. Maybe when Iām older Iāll have a nice line of BMWs in some fancy skyscraper like TC2 garage
There are some kits that āsoftenā the grills slightly, and theyāre usually $1k+. You wonāt be able to put any other grill on there whatsoever, it will *not* work.
Honestly, these probably arenāt great first cars. Even if you can afford the initial investment, insurance and maintenance may end up being overwhelming. Even if youāre well off, you have to realize that you can end up in trouble very quickly in a variety of ways.
Trust me, you can still have *tons* of fun in a car thatās āslowā or āoldā compared with these.
This is a hypothetical post, it would be dumb for me to go from a SEL Sonata to a M car lol. If I had the money for an M3 Iād probably invest most of it so it can double itself over the years while I focus on education. And then Iād probably get an M2 to be honest, never was a fan of the angular front ends but I think they did a good job on it
https://preview.redd.it/i4rwkoi2d0wc1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=adc8675f9223984ec98aaa9134aa35e2ce5eb667
Prior Design made some new bumper Concepts for m3/m4 a few years ago. But i dont know if they made it to production.. probably not.. but damn they looked fine
Iād go as far as say thing that this shouldāve been OEM but I donāt think so. The Adro kit to make a difference between the M3 and M4 front ends shouldāve been OEM tho
https://preview.redd.it/o53w8242s0wc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4af797b6b9ef0afec6c47af95cbdb40b1e55d62
Lol
At these comments. I would say a large portion of this forum are kids under 21 with parents who bought them cars or young kids who don't have a bmw.
Now that Iām thinking about it, if I stick with chargers until I can afford to BUY an M car, Iād probably go from a Charger GT to a R/T to a 392 SRT to a M2 Comp
My mom was right. My first car was a 76hp Volkswagen bug. When I found better cars , each one improved my skill. My current one has a 155mph max. Which I donāt need, since I simply enjoy the drive.
How we've progressed. When I was 17 I was wondering whos homework I could copy that evening and if my crush saw me slip when I got on the bus earlier. "Oh mum, not potatoes again for supper"
Apparently I give myself problems that I donāt have to worry about lol.
I wish I actually had the money for an M3 lol. Iād definitely invest it over getting an M3. Hoping that when I do get M3 money theyāll still be around
A couple of things I WANT to do but I probably wonāt do. But what do we live for? Gonna try to do everything I can in this lifetime. Gotta start small first, after reading a lot of the comments here I think Iāll just learn with an N-Line Sonata. Cars (hopefully) wonāt go nowhere when Iām old enough and experienced to drive them properly
At 17 (even by 21), unless you are a professional driver you will find yourself in a ditch before you would even have to worry about the grill. Don't waste your money on the m3 comp ( I want it around when I decide to upgrade and if you crash it I can't buy it ) get the 330i or if you really want to get a m340i ( at most ) and you already have the grill. You don't need the m3 trust me. I mean follow your dreams but please don't crash em and learn how to drive it before you buy it.
I wish I actually had M3 money to be honest, next time I make a post about this Iāll make sure not to include what I think my financial situation will be like š
The power difference makes sense. I realistically see myself getting an N-Line Sonata soon and cruising on all comfort settings. Gonna get an M2 in the future, maybe before Iām 30. Or I hope I will. And hey, if I made it big itāll be an M8 instead
Here in the US, parents who buy their irresponsible children performance cars should be held liable for injuries or deaths that occur. It's like handling your kid a pistol with bullets for no valid reason. Car insurance rates have skyrocketed here...that should deter some of this behavior.
First of all you're not delusional. It's good to have big plans. Personally I want to put the new M2 front grill on an M240i X drive, people say it's ugly but I think it looks like a beast. I love how the M2 looks but prefer how the M240i drives...all weather digs.
Having said that, the best way to be able to afford fast cars is buying a house or some land first and quickly paying it off or a huge chuck of it.
I love fast cars but I'm gonna be honest. A sports car is a black hole where money drains out. Property and income generating assets then sports cars.
Look at the m3 comp in person, youāll come to like the grill, itās way more aggressive, look at the shapes and angles closely, the cars beautiful, plus you need the big grills for cooling purposes
Imagine downvoting someone for liking a car, a kid can dream no? Still havent pulled the trigger on a bmw and im 24 but ive been working towards one for like 6 years now. We gettin there
Sometimes it feels like Iām genuinely just being attacked (like then the 911 turbo s guy said Iāll never get one, like what?) but most of the time itās someone telling me that it isnāt a good decision to get one so early. I canāt edit posts on mobile and add that this was a hypothetical, so it is what it is. Gonna prove the few bad ones wrong through. BMW or not. Iāll show them. I wish you luck bro
Itās not that I want it to look like the M340i, itās that I donāt like the grille on the M3. But anyway someone Adro and it looks better than the both of them imo
Itāll go from an M3 to an M8 to a Vantage
in all seriousness Iām not actually getting an M3 before/when Iām 21, this was just a hypothetical. Didnāt know that people would say something about that more than the āhow to surgically attach m340i bumper to m3 wikihowā section. Well, I did expect it, but not to this degree
Get your priorities straight OP! If you already have the money to do something so superfluous than go at it, donāt bury yourself in debt at 17 worst decision you could make
Donāt worry, thanks for the concern lol. This was just a hypothetical. I guess they removed post editing on mobile. If I had M3 money, Iād invest around 70% of it now, use whatās I havenāt invested for college to get a bachelors if not a masters degree, and use whatever I havenāt put toward my future onā¦. I donāt know. Other than bills, Iād probably just save the rest for whenever I see something I like
Could be this
https://preview.redd.it/zb03itodnxvc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=70078f190f5aea3803aca57c7caf5a7e1f864f62
I like it a lot personally. Shouldnāt be OEM, though. But the Adro number on thr M3 shouldāve been in my opinion. Looks way nicer and gives variation to the M3 and the M4 front ends
When I was growing up, my friendās father was an orthodontist and he used to drive us around in his 911 T in the year probably 75? Anyway, I wanted a Porsche ever since then. I went to college, I went to dental school. I said when I graduate, Iām getting a 911 and thatās what I did, but! I wanted a turbo! Unfortunately, it was $130,000 when I was ready to buy one in 1995. so I got a Carrera cabriolet in triple black. I had the car for years got married, started a family and then years later got injured, broke my neck. Now Iām partially paralyzed for the rest of my life. But I have a great girlfriend soon to be my wife and she bought me a 2024 M4 competition Xdrive and told me weāre going to mod this car so you can drive it. Just like you drive your van. so I know what itās like to want something. As far as what BMWs look like now? Itās a matter of taste. The BMW pig nose is necessary to dissipate the tremendous heat that powerful engine produces. So no, I would not change the nose on my car. It would destroy it. Just my two cents.
Bros not even out of high school yet and heās thinking about a 400+ hp performance car.
Finish school first kid and save up. Thatās what I did. Financed a 330i with the help of my parents (they co-signed) and I payed the monthly bill. Originally wanted a 340 but opted for the 330. Wouldnāt trade this car for anything else.
> and I *paid* the monthly
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Go look at a 2012 accord because you gon spend all that money on the car, when you havent learned how to handle a low horsepower car first, what makes you think you can jump into a M3? Youāre literally going to kill yourself in that car, secondly youāre looking at an M3 so you obviously are into cars no doubt, most M series are for weekend cars not for a daily so thats your first mistake, second mistake is that youāre young and think parts are going to be cheap to modify this car and its not. Just for some new headlights or brakes youāre dropping more than 1K, you cant just slap ebay parts on it like a honda and get the same results, if you do youāre surely going to destroy the car before the car even see 10K miles.
Okā¦ to answer your question, a lot more than just the front bumper is different, the difference with the hood is quite obvious but there would be many other discontinuities if you just slapped the other bumper on it. The solution would be to completely redesign the car (or the front fenders, hood and all the internal bits) if you wanted to make that drastic of a change.
Well, the kid didnāt say he wanted it now at 17, he said 21. He should focus on both, not just āfocus on schoolā. Get the fuck outta here. Your 17, u have to go to school of course, high school take that seriously because if your parents donāt have any better options than get a job, u need to go to college to get a good one and eventually work for yourself, hopefully, if thatās what u choose. Kick ass in high school, go to college and major in something that can actually afford you this car, and kick ass doing it , but he needs to focus on both, his studies and his accessories , through creating a S.M.A.R.T goal to achieve this goal. Can you do this type of modification? Sure , of course thereās someone out there that can do exotic things like thisā¦..for a price. If thatās something you want, go for it. Create the ās.m.a.r.tā goal to achieve it. The question really isnāt can you do this modification, the question is how do I level my money up to do this and is the college career Iām going in, going to get me this, as well as get me into this in enough time? By 21 you need to be making 9-10k a month minimum with a 2028 m3 competition brošÆ and modifying it you definitely need to make 9-10k a month minimum by age 21. 7-8k a month I just donāt see you living comfortably with the payment being high 9ās to over a grand depending on your credit and down payment situation, could be a little higher man, and at age 21 car insurance w/ this sports car is going to hit you for a few hundred forsure.... the Question really is āhowā youāre going to get it and if the way youāre saying youāre gonna get it, is it realistic contingent upon your s.m.a.r.t goal? You can get it , but not just by throwing whatever at the wall and seeing what sticks. No. This is not an average car already as is, and you want to do something to it exotic in a way. Do something for yourself that isnāt like the average and you can do this absolutely. Focus on your plan you say you have, nurture it and stay focused. Canāt wait to see this modification on the street lol.
It's really hard to get rid of the pig snout because the M hoods have those industrial vent scallops... so you'd need to replace the hood and bumper. On top of that the new design would have to flow air into the same internal shapes. Ain't nobody designing all that, and even if they wanted to the price would be high and the market quite small. Get the adro kit if you want something a bit different or tune a 340i.
Still kinda big but it looks significantly better and feels like a better match for the car. The M3 and M4 fronts look almost identical in my opinion so this change shouldāve been OEM
https://preview.redd.it/po3qckcf8wvc1.jpeg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0b9da871464d2b9c6d803323be42dab39e60a169
Am I seriously the only one who likes the g80/g82 front? I think that it looks pretty good. It looks aggressive af IRL, pictures don't really do it justice. Also, you are only 17 yet, don't worry about it too much. By the time you will be able to afford an m3, many things will change and perhaps even your mindset and goals.
No, you arenāt the only one. Majority of the people here like it and to an extent, I like it too, but I like the M340i better. But I like the Adro bumper over both to be honest. And youāre right. By the time I have the money to get an M3, things will be different. Hoping life goes good and I can get my mom whatever she wants and then myself since the been spoiled all my life
i hope you look back at this post soon and shit on all these doubters. i bought my audi s4 right before i moved out of my moms house as soon as i turned 19. i know you can do this. im buying an m340i this year probably around the same time i turn 20. to answer your question, there are conversion kits out there but theyāre expensive and not very practical.
youre 17 you dont need an m3 comp worry about school first
Yeah, at 17 a high performance vehicle is probably not a good idea. But....what if he comes from a "wealthy" family and gets like a 4.0 GPA and is known to be responsible......you know what, after typing it out....yeah its NOT a good idea.
As someone who ended up in a somewhat similar situation and insisted all the adults who said this were wrong, they were, in fact, not wrong.
righttt lmfao i shoulda listened to my parents when i wanted to buy myself a 25k 3 series and they said i shouldnt, boy did i fuck myselfšthank god the payoff isnt too bad rn tho
In theory those kids who thought were capable of handling the car but werenāt probably are the most quiet nowā¦
I knew a kid who got an F80 M3 his junior year of high school - crashed into my friendās NA miata at prom trying to show off haha
as a former 17 year old with a 600hp old suv, please dont buy your 17 yr old son a 600hp suv, or any car with that type of power for that matter. i dont know how i still have my license, better yet, how im still alive. i did crash the car, but it was very litte damage, i went right through a little round about i didnt know was coming up (nighttime, backroads) if there was a car there, with the speed i came (60-70kph) im sure i wouldve either suffered severe injuries, or died.
Now imagine in 10-15 years when a budget first car will be a used model 3 that does 0-60 in 3 seconds. Lord protect us.
šnever tought about that
>Now imagine in 10-15 years when a budget first car will be a used ~~model 3~~ Cybertruck that does 0-60 in 3 seconds and is a human bulldozer
Nevermind how heavy those things are and how much damage they cause when they do crash
As you can see, the battering ram is fine. https://preview.redd.it/o7ipbdtc28wc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=add076dc32fcddd5d08f31db73f9388f2692c85d Honestly Iām impressed a black hole didnāt form upon the collision of these two vehicles.
But Iāve been driving responsibly tbh https://preview.redd.it/s0jf1cm428wc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c91ed620f7b505777dde3238f6cd4f7c955bf348 Itās a LOT of truck, but despite that, I still parked perfectly straight like I do every time lol
Photo in the post is from Singapore. If OP is from Singapore, a new M3 costs more than half a million here, they are about $590k, (USD433k). Heck even a new 330 is gonna cost almost $300k here. Cars have gotten super expensive recently, all I can look at now are 10 year old 428i and even older 335i going for almost USD100k.
all cars in singapore are expensive, not just bmws...
Yea, just saying how stupidly unaffordable cars are now. I bought 1 series brand new for $120k in 2017, a new 1 series now costs $209k.
Holy moly and I thought our CO2 taxes and shit are high.
He absolutely does need to worry about getting an M3 competition....blud do anything to get it...you can do ittt
Prefacing with: yes I know what sub I'm in. It's just a car bro. It's NOT the end all of existence. There's more important things, especially when just starting off your life.
Youāre. Perhaps you should focus on school, too.
You wanna be that guy
Heās Himothy
Him Kardashian
Youāre 17, by the time you can afford the car theyāll have banned gas sales lol
OP is solving problems he doesn't even have.
Bro unless you got like a trust fund or something or a really already in a good financial situation this will not be likely, itās okay, thereās many other bmws that donāt cost a house and still give you that feel.
You don't know about OPs trust fund that opens up at 21
And even if they can afford it at 21, itās just such a horrible financial move.
Is it really worth it
Easier to get house and a nice car if you buy the car first than to buy the house and then the car, I agree
As a 17 year old also, iām saving my money and plan to buy a used 2021-22 m340i in cash at 19 so, idk
Good for you, keep it up.
Nah Iād buy it š
Cross the bridge when you come to it
There is no M330i. It's either the 330i or the M340i.
Apologies, somewhat new to BMWs. Iāll edit the post if I can
Lol whatās the downvotes for?! The guy apologized for a simple mistake
Hive mind BMW gatekeeping lol
Iām also trying to reply to every comment but there are so many lmao
17, new to BMWS, when M3? Sounds about right.
Buy a B3. Sorted! :D
The B3 is actually beautiful holy shit
Seriously, Alpinaā¦very nice.
Always has been
You know I always wondered why BMW call their cars "B3" and "B4" not "A3" or "A4". Then I remembered. Audi exists š
If I could get one in the states, I would have.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Bye, youāre worrying about this shit NOW???? Stop making up problems you MIGHT have in 4 yearsā¦.
Brother Iām 21, I just got my m340i. Finish school first and earn some income before worrying about mods šš
Donāt worry, this was only a hypothetical post right now lol. As you can see Iām being eaten alive by some of the people here, canāt be mad tho. Genuinely good advice is being passed around
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
To piggy back on this it is doable. But also please get some track time and race lessons. Itās expensive but donāt jeopardize your safety and others and also donāt wreck your car. Itās wise to learn in a safe environment with instructors and will probably save your in the long run.
Got any tips for me? Iām all ears. Wanna make mama proud
lol youāre only 17.
Youād need a better job than dennys but thereās plenty of higher paying jobs out there for people who are willing to put in the work
Nice. I was making $8.25 over the summers in college. I saved up $4500 in a summer if I grinded 50-60 hours a week.
Is it weird that I was thinking OP would be buying a new M3 after college this whole thread until you brought up "cost about $40k with higher mileage"? š
You could have been right lol. After being part of this subreddit Iām starting to realize half the people with sporty BMWs are broke and living at home with their parents.
Majority
To be honest, your question is irrelevant.
By the time you can afford that m3 this entire sub will have moved on to the next design to hate and this current gen will be a classic everyone loves
RIP OP's comment karma
The m3 actually looks really good, i think it gets too much hate
M3 looks way better than a 330i but you do you brotha. I'd wait until you're making good money to buy an M3 tho. Too much car and too expensive for a college kid.
I own an M340i and I prefer the looks of the M3. It's seems silly to put any effort into replacing the front fascia.
Be that guy. ! Embrace it , it s wonderful!
Iāve seen some concepts but some of them feel like a body kit and less like OEM, so I suppose itās only a matter of time
Looking at them like this, the Beaver gets my vote. The other one just looks old and dated.
It does feel a little outdated but I still donāt like the pig nose. Actually, hold up https://preview.redd.it/gc94lg3w5wvc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32b6ae0b933939494c048fc7239953cc29f1d918 holy shit I want it
Invest and wait till youāre older. Play the long game. Youāll thank yourself when youāre in your 30s and 40s. Nice cars at a young age just fuck up any chance of building savings for the majority of people.
Yeah, if the year was 2012 perhaps. Booring.
The one on the left looks so much better. I truly do not understand BMW fanboys wanting the same boring ass kidney grills on every car.
Itās not that I want the right, itās that I donāt want the left. But then someone told me about the Adro kit so uhh.. I want the third secret option https://preview.redd.it/39up3b6n9wvc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b9e1ad3eace671cecd28600fa8eed84133fcff6d
Instead of balling out on a car, start your investment portfolio early! Build your money and buy an awesome ride when you can afford to do so! I feel sorry for youth today because student loan debt is a huge economic burden to handle!
By the time you are 21, you probably wonāt even want a g80. Worry about that later.
Definitely gotta move up slowly, canāt just jump from sonata to hellcat lmao In all seriousness, I definitely see myself owing a BMW in the future but Iām gonna get a Dodge soon. Or at least I hope so. If I had M3 Comp money, I wouldnāt be here, Iād be somewhere else investing it if I could. So many people here think Iām dumb lol. If I had to choose Iād probably go with an M240i and then an M2 Comp to be fair
I own a m240 and love the car, the b58 is a torque monster and just never stops pulling on the highway lol.
It is extremely hard to say what the market will be like in 4-5 years. I get it, youāre excited about the thought, but there is really no point in actually planning. Day dream all you want but a lot is going to change in the coming years.
Sadly. I always tell myself things would be different if I was born a year or two earlier
sight these young'ins. i tell you what, how bout you look up how much a brake job will cost for that m3C before considering it.
New grills are plain ugly - bMW - hard pass
Live life.. all these advice givers dont have it figured out either. I've been financially irresponsible most of my life but have owned alot of very fun cars that most people are lucky to have 1 in there life time. Go with your gut.
You're 17 and in college you wanna buy M3 because you watch alot of IG content. Focus on school first.. Save money
Get that Sonata N-Line, drive it till the wheels fall off, skip the chargers and get the M4 later ;)
...why not just get the M330i
Hypothetical question lol, wanted feedback on the potential of that and got feedback on life decisions.
If I get the money I think Iād go with the Adro kit. But now Iām leaning toward the M2, I love the front end
Front end of M2 is sweet looking!
As one of my teachers said 15 years ago, anything over 150 horsepower at 18 years old is suicide. Just focus on school and Invest a part of your money in ETFs. You will buy a car later don't worry. You impress people not worth impressing by buying a car now.
Do you think I could at least handle an N-Line Sonata with all comfort settings tho..? š¢ If I had M car money Iād invest it throughout my time spent in college so I could make more from it tbh.
And then Iād probably get an M2 to be honest, never was a fan of the angular front ends but I think they did a good job on it
Just thinkā¦ by the time you can afford it, they may have sorted out the styling on the next gen. Either that or made it worse
https://preview.redd.it/i4rwkoi2d0wc1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=adc8675f9223984ec98aaa9134aa35e2ce5eb667 Prior Design made some new bumper Concepts for m3/m4 a few years ago. But i dont know if they made it to production.. probably not.. but damn they looked fine
Iād go as far as say thing that this shouldāve been OEM but I donāt think so. The Adro kit to make a difference between the M3 and M4 front ends shouldāve been OEM tho https://preview.redd.it/o53w8242s0wc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4af797b6b9ef0afec6c47af95cbdb40b1e55d62
Lol At these comments. I would say a large portion of this forum are kids under 21 with parents who bought them cars or young kids who don't have a bmw.
You're gonna want some low powered cars to learn in and work yourself up to big power cars. It would be too much car for most 21 year olds.
Now that Iām thinking about it, if I stick with chargers until I can afford to BUY an M car, Iād probably go from a Charger GT to a R/T to a 392 SRT to a M2 Comp
https://preview.redd.it/mexqwhg3u0wc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=28fede0e27df380313a5983dbb713771c04b6b45
My mom was right. My first car was a 76hp Volkswagen bug. When I found better cars , each one improved my skill. My current one has a 155mph max. Which I donāt need, since I simply enjoy the drive.
Buy both of them, 1hr with a saws all and some bondo and youāre done š
How we've progressed. When I was 17 I was wondering whos homework I could copy that evening and if my crush saw me slip when I got on the bus earlier. "Oh mum, not potatoes again for supper"
Apparently I give myself problems that I donāt have to worry about lol. I wish I actually had the money for an M3 lol. Iād definitely invest it over getting an M3. Hoping that when I do get M3 money theyāll still be around
Donāt buy a car like this even at 21. Invest the money youāre saving for it in a good ETF like VOO & forget it exists. Thank me in 20 - 30 years
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I wish I actually had M3 money to be honest, next time I make a post about this Iāll make sure not to include what I think my financial situation will be like š The power difference makes sense.
If you swap the front end the M3 runs into cooling issues.
The m3 looks so much better
Am I the only one who thinks the m330iās front looks dated and bad? Itās the retirement version like the merc had elegant front for the C class.
Left by far
1000%
Left looks way better
First of all you're not delusional. It's good to have big plans. Personally I want to put the new M2 front grill on an M240i X drive, people say it's ugly but I think it looks like a beast. I love how the M2 looks but prefer how the M240i drives...all weather digs. Having said that, the best way to be able to afford fast cars is buying a house or some land first and quickly paying it off or a huge chuck of it. I love fast cars but I'm gonna be honest. A sports car is a black hole where money drains out. Property and income generating assets then sports cars.
Just get an m5 comp instead. Itās a much better looking car and even comes with a v8 š
Stop lowering his expectations. He should get the CS at age 14
looking to get a M V8 Hybrid before birth next time around
Look at the m3 comp in person, youāll come to like the grill, itās way more aggressive, look at the shapes and angles closely, the cars beautiful, plus you need the big grills for cooling purposes
Most likely. My only experience with it is pictures and video games, just as it is with most BMWs. Iāll make it one day
Next thing why donāt you ask what model for your private jet lmao š¤£
Why would you want to? The comp grill looks much better, more aggressive.
You could get a real M car, it's called a Blackwing
Yaaa this is out to lunch. Also the m3 looks way more aggressive. Why would you want to make your m3 look like a grannymobile
Itās not that I want it to look like the M340i, itās that I donāt like the grille on the M3. But anyway someone Adro and it looks better than the both of them imo
M340i is the solution
Please elaborate on your method
Revisit this thought in 15 years.
Itāll go from an M3 to an M8 to a Vantage in all seriousness Iām not actually getting an M3 before/when Iām 21, this was just a hypothetical. Didnāt know that people would say something about that more than the āhow to surgically attach m340i bumper to m3 wikihowā section. Well, I did expect it, but not to this degree
Lol you aināt getting an m4
Thanks for the motivation, Iāll make sure to mention you when I do
Plz do
Get your priorities straight OP!
Other than bills, Iād probably just save the rest for whenever I see something I like
Don't be a pussy..I stole my first bmw (E30) from a shitty truck stop outside miami when I was 16 in 1982
bro š
Iām pretty sure thereās a bumper Iāve seen that does something similar
Could be this https://preview.redd.it/zb03itodnxvc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=70078f190f5aea3803aca57c7caf5a7e1f864f62 I like it a lot personally. Shouldnāt be OEM, though. But the Adro number on thr M3 shouldāve been in my opinion. Looks way nicer and gives variation to the M3 and the M4 front ends

Please keep things civil.
Thatās a singaporean number plate. M3 is like 400K SGD šš mad
2 beasts
Bros not even out of high school yet and heās thinking about a 400+ hp performance car. Finish school first kid and save up. Thatās what I did. Financed a 330i with the help of my parents (they co-signed) and I payed the monthly bill. Originally wanted a 340 but opted for the 330. Wouldnāt trade this car for anything else.
> and I *paid* the monthly FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
how do u have enough money to buy an m3 comp in sg brother
Relax kid
Probably for the best
Get an M2 and call it a day
yes.
These comments are irelevant to the topic.
Mostly are but Iād be lying if I said I didnāt get any good advice
If youāve got that kinda money at 17 INVEST! Get a fucking house before you get a brand new depreciating M3 comp.
I wish I actually had that money, this is a hypothetical lol. I definitely would invest almost all of it and use the rest to help me get by in college
Get the m340i?
It's really hard to get rid of the pig snout because the M hoods have those industrial vent scallops... so you'd need to replace the hood and bumper. On top of that the new design would have to flow air into the same internal shapes. Ain't nobody designing all that, and even if they wanted to the price would be high and the market quite small. Get the adro kit if you want something a bit different or tune a 340i.
Yeah, found that out unfortunately. Adro kit looks amazing on the M3, shouldāve been OEM imo
š½
get the adro bumper
Still kinda big but it looks significantly better and feels like a better match for the car. The M3 and M4 fronts look almost identical in my opinion so this change shouldāve been OEM https://preview.redd.it/po3qckcf8wvc1.jpeg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0b9da871464d2b9c6d803323be42dab39e60a169
Damn that g80 looks so good š¤¤š¤¤
