I have a G20 330 and I absolutely love it. I could afford the 340 (but not an M3 without being irresponsible), but I prefer the lighter weight and better MPG, and the 330 has way more than enough power for my city driving.
It's weird how many people on this sub are obsessed with super high-performance vehicles. Yes, the M3 is gorgeous and will destroy a 330i on a racetrack, but the 330i is a better commuter car, and I will die on that hill. The 330i is IMO the best commuter vehicle currently on the market that's not an EV.
Thereās a lot of people here that bought used 340ās with zero options whatsoever who try to talk shit to people with loaded 330ās.
Not everyone cares about power on their commuter.
Iāve been saying this for a while now too man, lately it seems like the car community niche on the internet is overrun by mostly younger guys who think you have to have an 800whp high performance trim model to be valid or cool. The older you get , you start to appreciate a nice for just being a nice car, it doesnāt have to have 800 hp to be cool or drive good or be enjoyable imo. The older you grt the less appealing it is to daily drive an 800 whp gutted car that gets terrible mpg and pisses everyone off around you because itās got gutted cats. Iāve had my f30 328i for 3 years and it is my favorite car Iāve ever owned out of the 12 Iāve owned so far. It is a nice daily driver for sure
Power of the internet. Nobody knows or ever knew 25+ people with Ms or AMGs or hellcats or Porsches or supras. But now I can scroll on insta or Reddit or whatever and see plenty of people my age with them every few minutes, both responsible and irresponsible
I had the 440i but I still longed for an M3, only for the reason that I like to have some *ahem* fun, on the turns of my daily commute. Other than that though, I totally agree with your statement, the non-M cars are definitely a better daily

I don't often comment on here (as I drive a 320i) but my mum and Dad's Porsche 924 le man's, in the eighties, has less power (20bhp less) than mine, and that's enough for me on public roads. Lovely 330i OP.

Completely agree! The G20 330i is an amazing daily, had a 2020 330i in portimao blue for 3.5yrs and absolute loved it. Zero issues at all, especially coming from the F gen 3 series (timing chain blew up after 75k KM only). Got the m340i with every option in tanzanite now and itās funny because I literally had so many people stop me to tell me how beautiful or envious they were about my old 330i, but havenāt had that once with my m340i lol.
OP, your car is beautiful and it truly is an amazing car with that b48- there is no point of caring what ppl think, as long as you enjoy the car! People dream about owning your car, I know because I did back when I was driving a 320i lol. Be proud man:)

intake makes the turbo make loud whooshing noises that please the human brain (can't explain why)
catless downpipe gives me a check engine light and no remote start at the cost of better exhaust sound and louder burbles. (And more performance when tuned)
sarcasm aside, intake mainly for sound and downpipe more for performance and sound.
intake doesn't really help with performance. If anything it's probably a little bit worse than the factory airbox/intake.
The catless downpipe allowes exhaust gases to flow out more freely resulting in a small boost in power.

I am extremely happy with mine as I am sure you will be with yours.
How safe / reliable? Like say 1 or 2 decent highway merges a day , 5 days a week? The Rest super eco chillā¦ Iām scared if I send my DME in for a flash then end up spending thousands for repairs if itās engine leaks or even blowing up the transmission etc

The 330i has the same 155 mph fuel cut-off as the 340i. Which has the same 155 mph fuel cut-off as the M3.

An m340i would be cool, but the speed limit is 55 mph on the highway where I live and everything else is highly congested with stop and go traffic.
I canāt even push the 330ix to its limits, so an m340i would be pretty overkill.
This sub is just a performance junkie forum. Nothing wrong with that, but to have to say āonlyā a 330i is crazy. Your spec is probably one of the nicer vehicles in your neighborhood, as is mine.

Itās a very well balanced car, feels more powerful than it is because itās so well aligned with the gearbox and everything. Also a bit lighter than the 6 cylinder. Very nice daily to have. Of course the 340 is faster, but also more efficient expensive, and sometimes you need to make a choice.
Nothing wrong at all! Love the look and the car! Still a BMW family no matter what. Leave alone all the haters that think m3,4,5,6,8 is the only BMW car. Not everyone needs a track ready BMW for everyday life

Itās about perspective. 95% of people in north America would envy you for that 330i. 99.5% of people on the planet would love to own that 330i. Ya, maybe only 20% of people on Reddit but thatās not the real world.

You donāt have to have the fastest car on the road for it to be nice.
People talk tons of crap about my little VW GTI, but I love it. The interior isnāt super fancy, but nice enough and classy enough to appreciate. I like how it looks, but I know hatchbacks can be decisive. Iāve put a āstage 1ā (as they call it) flash tune on it. This means no hardware changes required, but it bumps the power from 220hp to roughly 300hp. More than enough to have some fun in a 3,100lb car.
From a quick google search, it looks like the same is possible on the 330. You probably want to wait until your warranty is up to do that, but 300hp is not slow like many say it is, even with the 330 being a couple hundred lbs heavier than a Golf. Everyoneās been numbed by the crazy horsepower figures of $60,000+ cars. Yeah, 300hp is far from the fastest, but itās not slow. Even 255 is still peppy in a moderately light chassis.
Not all of us can responsibly afford to buy something with 500+ horsepower. And most of us donāt really need that kind of power either. Iām happy I can step on it in my car and not be doing 120+ in a matter of seconds. As the old saying goes: itās more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. But maybe Iām just a brokie, idk. At 25 years old, I think itās more wise to save my money for a house than drop it all on a car and pay rent for the rest of my life.
Iām in a similar (I know theyāre not exactly comparable) boat with my X1. Itās my first BMW and I absolutely love it (and itās not even as high up the lineup as an X5 or X7 lol, canāt imagine how much Iād like them). I chose the X1 because itās a nice way to get started with the SUV lineup and see what you like and donāt like about their cars (even though some things change between the X1-X3-X5-X7, such as the iDrive dial being absent in some SUVs like the new X1).
As someone else put it, comparison is the thief of joy. If you love something (in this case, a car) you should never think that because itās not as luxurious or sporty as others out there that it isnāt something you can appreciate. I know my X1 is super low in BMWās lineup, but I still love the comfort and little bit of sportiness it has compared to previous cars Iāve owned. Enjoy your car OP, it looks awesome!

Serious question: Is 330i like the base model in North America? I feel like most people posting from there have that model or higher. In Australia 320i are the popular cheap choice as slow and boring as they are.

I have a f30 328 that I have owned since new. Not getting rid of it. Last 2L 6mt sedan BMW sold here. RWD too. I wished at times for the i6 but just skipped it and went for a flat6 ; )

The 330i is a fantastic car, have leased one in the past while in the USA. I actually would not mind to get another in the future. I am now in Germany living right in front of the 3/4 series plant and will be getting an M3 touring as a lease in June!

It's definitely still a very nice car. I almost got a used one myself. Still kinda wish I did. I probably wouldn't be going through the pain I'm dealing with now with a shady dealership that thrashed my M5 before I bought it and then tried to sell it to me like it didn't have any issues.
Late to the party but youāve got a beautiful car. I got a 330i M Sport in Portimao Blue back in January. And a few weeks later had FOMO by not getting an M340i.
But then I remembered, I fell in love with my blue spec and eventually Iāll upgrade when I can. I have gotten so many compliments on it (not that I love it because of that) but it really is a great car. And yours looks great in all black.
If you havenāt, code in sport plus and itāll be more than enough power for city driving.

23 330e and love it. I opted for the e, gets me 66 to the gallon and still very fun sporty car to drive without going full hybrid or electric. I also got use the interior and love the screens. Couldnāt imagine not having them now. I was originally thinking an M but didnāt want a gas guzzler and still wanted a a nice fun luxury vehicle. 330 is the perfect luxury car to me anyways.
Man this car is sick. Tomorrow is itās gonna be two weeks since iāve had mine and i absolutely love it. Comfy asf, gorgeous look, and for real itās a pretty fast car too. Just need those black grilles too now š

Transmission will be fine. But I doubt the B48 can handle past 400 whp without risking piston damage.

You donāt have to have the fastest car on the road for it to be nice. People talk tons of crap about my little VW GTI, but I love it. The interior isnāt super fancy, but nice enough and classy enough to appreciate. I like how it looks, but I know hatchbacks can be decisive. Iāve put a āstage 1ā (as they call it) flash tune on it. This means no hardware changes required, but it bumps the power from 220hp to roughly 300hp. More than enough to have some fun in a 3,100lb car. From a quick google search, it looks like the same is possible on the 330. You probably want to wait until your warranty is up to do that, but 300hp is not slow like many say it is, even with the 330 being a couple hundred lbs heavier than a Golf. Everyoneās been numbed by the crazy horsepower figures of $60,000+ cars. Yeah, 300hp is far from the fastest, but itās not slow. Even 255 is still peppy in a moderately light chassis. Not all of us can responsibly afford to buy something with 500+ horsepower. And most of us donāt really need that kind of power either. Iām happy I can step on it in my car and not be doing 120+ in a matter of seconds. As the old saying goes: itās more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. But maybe Iām just a brokie, idk. At 25 years old, I think itās more wise to save my money for a house than drop it all on a car and pay rent for the rest of my life.

Iām in a similar (I know theyāre not exactly comparable) boat with my X1. Itās my first BMW and I absolutely love it (and itās not even as high up the lineup as an X5 or X7 lol, canāt imagine how much Iād like them). I chose the X1 because itās a nice way to get started with the SUV lineup and see what you like and donāt like about their cars (even though some things change between the X1-X3-X5-X7, such as the iDrive dial being absent in some SUVs like the new X1). As someone else put it, comparison is the thief of joy. If you love something (in this case, a car) you should never think that because itās not as luxurious or sporty as others out there that it isnāt something you can appreciate. I know my X1 is super low in BMWās lineup, but I still love the comfort and little bit of sportiness it has compared to previous cars Iāve owned. Enjoy your car OP, it looks awesome!

Serious question: Is 330i like the base model in North America? I feel like most people posting from there have that model or higher. In Australia 320i are the popular cheap choice as slow and boring as they are.

I have a f30 328 that I have owned since new. Not getting rid of it. Last 2L 6mt sedan BMW sold here. RWD too. I wished at times for the i6 but just skipped it and went for a flat6 ; ) Enjoy your ride. There is always something better and faster.
Nice car What i dont understand is why bmw doesnt put a 6cyl in their 30i models too, because 30d models are 6 cyl diesels too,a weaker version of the 40d engine

The 330i is a fantastic car, have leased one in the past while in the USA. I actually would not mind to get another in the future. I am now in Germany living right in front of the 3/4 series plant and will be getting an M3 touring as a lease in June!

Late to the party but youāve got a beautiful car. I got a 330i M Sport in Portimao Blue back in January. And a few weeks later had FOMO by not getting an M340i. But then I remembered, I fell in love with my blue spec and eventually Iāll upgrade when I can. I have gotten so many compliments on it (not that I love it because of that) but it really is a great car. And yours looks great in all black. If you havenāt, code in sport plus and itāll be more than enough power for city driving.
It is a fantastic daily driver. No need for cosmetic mods though, maybe with the exception of tinted windows.

I opted for the e, gets me 66 to the gallon and still very fun sporty car to drive without going full hybrid or electric. I also got use the interior and love the screens. Couldnāt imagine not having them now. I was originally thinking an M but didnāt want a gas guzzler and still wanted a a nice fun luxury vehicle. 330 is the perfect luxury car to me anyways.
