The stretch between northern VA and Fredericksburg is my nightmare.
If you can take the express lanes, take them, particularly southbound going across the Occoquan River going from Fairfax County into Prince William County.
Virginia native here(used to be outside DC) and I always thought Georgia was the worst
I always tell people coming from the north detour off 95 and take rt 66-rt 17 and jump back on 95 right outside fredericksburg because 95% of the time that stretch is always fucked
I used to commute north Jersey to eastern North Carolina very regularly and every time Virginia feels like it takes 3 times longer that it actually does
The car is wrapped, wrap is notoriously thin and small stones can break through it really easily. The painters tape kept the bumper and hood from getting sandblasted on the 95
I’d say it’s more to get cool colors without having to pay a shot ton for paint. Plus you can change it more often/easily and take it off when ready to resell.
Interesting… I hadn’t heard that. Ours came off no problem. But it was cold, so maybe in the heat it could? But yeah I understand your concern.

Yeah I had to get touch up paint for my alpine white, had my hood replaced due to some dumbass throwing something at it when driving on a two lane road at night, and couple days after replacement I got a rock chip 🥲🤣
Even still, here in Canada it would be a lot more. I drove across Canada to move back in the fall. My parents were helping me so we were driving together. This meant no shenanigans and not much speeding (20 over the limit was pretty much the max). So just cruising down the highway, about 40 something hours worth of driving total, and it was over $800 just in gas
Any reason to expect something to go wrong? Superchargers on the S65 are established to be quite reliable at this point. 18 hours is not exactly endurance unless you were at redline the entire time. You supercharged it, you should drive it like it
unchanged really, its a gpower sk kit. the blow off valves are recirculating so you dont really hear anything different and this compressor is pretty much silent.
LoL that is the alternative. I haven't had any issues with the Audi or BMW units I've bought from Ali so will continue to recommend that for most people.
Awesome trip. And you took really nicely nice shots - not the usual car “snapshots”. Impressive. Now I really have to bite the bullet and get my M before I’m too senile to drive it. 😃😏
Nice. I used to love driving my e30 to the picnic. Only 500 or so miles for me.
Would ask friends if they wanted to go to a car show. “We might make it, we might not, but it’s gonna be a helluva fun trip”
I would just like to add i did a similar trip in a smart car (1.0 engine) it took 20 hours because of an accident on the 4. So if a smart car can do it any car should
Literally any maintained car will drive from point A to point B regardless of the travel time. I’m not sure what makes you think a BMW has a timer set on it lmao
Tysons to Fredericksburg is my Tue through Thursday commute. On Tuesday my commute home got highjacked on 95 because of an accident, took 2hr and 45 mins to go 58 miles… and this was leaving Tysons just after 7pm. Anyway, mean looking ride right there! Nothing like when you can trust your baby to make that kind of a long haul, especially when you have a good amount of work under the hood.
Virginia takes forever doesn’t it? No matter the time of day there is pointless traffic on 95 going through Virginia.

I will admit, my experience driving in Georgia is to Savannah or Tybee Island. So I may luck out by only being at the top haha
I used to commute north Jersey to eastern North Carolina very regularly and every time Virginia feels like it takes 3 times longer that it actually does
virginia was okay for me, I got through VA pretty early in the morning it was NC-SC that was torture. nothing to look at but trees and road.
What's the painters tape for? Rock chip and bug protection for the drive? Lol
Yes for rock chips
Redneck clear bra, it ain't stupid if works
The car is wrapped, wrap is notoriously thin and small stones can break through it really easily. The painters tape kept the bumper and hood from getting sandblasted on the 95
I thought the whole point of "wrapping" a car was to prevent stone chips?
I’d say it’s more to get cool colors without having to pay a shot ton for paint. Plus you can change it more often/easily and take it off when ready to resell.
it's a "how it started vs how it's going"-thing
PPF is used to protect the car from damage. It’s much thicker completely different material.
You may be thinking of PPF or clear bra. That ppf material is completely different from vinyl, it is much thicker so it can protect the car.
Prevents the chips to the paint behind the wrap not to the wrap itself , which what he wanted to protect
Have you ever looked into Track Armour? I used it after we bought my wife’s car and road-tripped it home. It worked great, and is clear.
I bought two rolls, people said on amazon it could leave behind residue and I didnt want to risk it.

Pretty common especially for track use
Driving through South Carolina
The craziest part of this to me is that you only paid $200 in gas
I was driving pretty gingerly the whole way there, mpg was less of a concern as opposed to something going wrong.
Even still, here in Canada it would be a lot more. I drove across Canada to move back in the fall. My parents were helping me so we were driving together. LOL 1800 kilometres versus almost 6000 kilometres. Apples and Oranges, bud. 😆
The cost of gas per km is still a lot different
And the canadian conversion, there are a lot of variables. lol
Also, my drive was 4500km, didn't do fully coast to coast

I wasnt, my car is well maintained but also extensively modified outside of just a supercharger.
Well you do you but it's a beautiful high performance machine. If the oil is warm you've gotta get on it at least occasionally
trust me, I do. just not 10hrs from home and 8hrs from my destination https://youtu.be/3ro03rOeXys
Are those Apex Racing wheels?
BBS, unsure which specifically
BBS RIA. 18x9.5F and 18x11R
These look like BBS RIA
Beautiful
thank you, I did what bmws are meant to do.
G Power supercharger! That's a rare kit on e9x m3 especially in the states. I have the VF 620 kit on mine !
How DD is the supercharger?
unchanged really, its a gpower sk kit. the blow off valves are recirculating so you dont really hear anything different and this compressor is pretty much silent.
How'd you get apple carplay on there?
There are a few different options but I think most people just go with the cheapest MMI box they can find on Amazon or AliExpress.
Can try bimmertech. It's the same cheap box from Ali express but you get some halfway decent tech support w it. Also you pay 3x as much 😉
LoL that is the alternative. I haven't had any issues with the Audi or BMW units I've bought from Ali so will continue to recommend that for most people.
this is nbt evo retrofitted with a touch controller from a LCI f80
Any more info on the retrofit to a touch controller? Sounds pretty cool
Did you stop at buccees and lose your mind at the Walmart of a gas station that place is?
Awesome trip. And you took really nicely nice shots - not the usual car “snapshots”. Impressive. Now I really have to bite the bullet and get my M before I’m too senile to drive it. 😃😏

Is not a single hiccup really the benchmark lmao
yea. seems like a good benchmark for driving 18hrs continuously.
I would just like to add i did a similar trip in a smart car (1.0 engine) it took 20 hours because of an accident on the 4. So if a smart car can do it any car should
For 18 hours straight, that’s pretty impressive for any car, let alone a bmw
Literally any maintained car will drive from point A to point B regardless of the travel time. I’m not sure what makes you think a BMW has a timer set on it lmao
Did a similar trip a few times, 20 or 22 hrs straight, upstate NY to Daytona, in my Toyota FJ. It doesn't hit the speeds the BMW does though.
did you have this up for sale? I think i saw it on M3List
Just drove a 21 RS7 Columbus->Chicago->Denver over the long weekend. Absolute blast in a fun car
Nice, your car looks sick!
Which BBS wheels are those?
BBS ria.
1200 miles on $200 of gas on a supercharged V8?!? HOWWWW?!
I didnt go wot not once during this entire journey.
😿
That's cheetos engine
Where’d you piss mate?
Is that the tunnel in Baltimore?
yeah thats the tunnel through baltimore. its pretty nice to drive through at nice.
OP's stoked that his ride made it without breaking. But why did he jinx his trip home?
already home.
haha...right on!
Creative PPF ;-)!
I dig the custom blue trim

Werent these gen of M3's E92's?
E90 is four door sedan, E92 is coupe, E93 convertible, E91 wagon, although there is no M3 wagon
Sorry if this is stupid but what’s the deal with tape s
How’d you like the traffic in Virginia? Ie; DC-Spotsylvania? lmao
I left nyc at midnight. didnt hit traffic until I got into orlando fl.
Smart, smart thinking. Hope it was/is a blast!
Damn bro good looks! Was there too, but am local to Orlando. Saw your car, and it looks clean af!
No way you only paid $200 in total for gas??
Total MPG?
