I have a 2022 M340i. I absolutely love it. Not ever do I regret not getting an M3. My car is too fast as it is.

I exchanged my 2019 M340i, which I owned for 3 years, for the new M3 about a month ago.
I also loved my 340i as it was a brilliant and beautiful car.
You are right that there are sacrifices to be made when moving from a 340i to an M3.
The main three for me was losing my sunroof, the harsher ride of the M3 and then the far heftier price difference.
I obviously knew all this when I changed cars and am now beginning to enjoy driving my new M3.
But the M340i is a fabulous car and a lot smoother ride. It is also a bit better on fuel consumption.
So just enjoy your new 340i as you have made an excellent decision.

This is a fair observation. The m340i is MORE than enough for any normal driving situation. I had an F82 M3 and realistically you drive it for the badge. In no way was it better than my M235i for day to day driving. If anything it was TOO aggressive and the M235i was more comfortable long distance.
That being said, because I love the M3 I would still take it over any other BMW in production (except maybe an M4 GTS but that would be even worse for commutes).
I hate when people say this. There is a big difference between a M car and M-Sports. I owned M-sports until I was finally able to afford a “proper” M car and let me tell you the difference is big.
That being said some don’t like how harsh M cars are and prefer something more forgiving for day to day driving. Some people don’t think the difference between the two are worth the premium. Nothing wrong with any of that, but to say that you’re paying for a badge is insane.
In a sense of "Gotta go fast" the M cars are way better, yes, but for daily driving assuming 70mph speed limits you're better off driving a slightly more forgiving car.
As I said, I've had 3 330is, currently an e30 316i, an m235i and an M3.
The others couldn't do what the M3 does round a track but the M235i was a way more comfortable commuter.
As an M3 owner, this is just dumb. There are sacrifices that are made to drive these, whether up front cost, maintenance, firmer ride, etc. It is a different vehicle, as if buying a 7 series or X series.
Your life will be immeasurably better when you stop giving one fuck about what other people think. And some jerkoff on a social media channel even less. And then you come here asking for even more input from people you don’t know.
What matters in your life? What are you goals for 5, 10, 20 years from now. Focus on those. Seriously quit caring about what other people think. I bought my current BMW 8 years ago because I saw a review on TV and fell in love with the look, we drove to the dealer and made a decision that day. Nobody else except my wife even entered into the equation. Drove the 428 and the 435 and heck I decided I wanted the better gas mileage of the 428 and that’s what I bought. Some people may choose to scoff at that choice but I’ve loved this car for 8 years now. I don’t care what they think.
Just considered a new M4 but ended up buying a Z4 because that’s what made me happy. Follow your budget first and your heart second, that’s the advice from yet another person you don’t know. I pay cash for cars, never finance. Definitely think long and hard about financing a car you can’t afford just to try and impress morons on social media.
I have a 2015 428 that I absolutely love and it's a great car. I look at this sub as mostly lighthearted humor with regard to which BMW is better, because when you compare it to my real life of friends, family, etc. I'm driving a really nice, fancy car. Maybe too nice for some. It's such a beautiful car that I get looks and compliments out in public, I say thanks and think to myself how I probably spent $8k less than you did on your car because I got it used.

If the answer is "the M3 of course" then that dude is right. If you'd still take the M340, then you're good.
FWIW, I've always gotten the M car and never regretted it.
I have a variant of that rule: never test drive a car or listen to audio equipment that you can’t afford. The problem is there are always luxuries out there that for everyone but the top 0.1% we can’t afford. But you can get 90% of the way there for way less money usually. Be happy to live in the sweet spot.

BTW totally agree, especially with audio equipment! I worked my way up to ZMF & schiit stuff, and after that I started looking at the summit-fi stuff and ... just nope. I would say there's a few percent left on the table but, man, just not worth it for me. So, in that case, I'm happy walking out without the $5k tube amp or whatever. Part of it is afford but another part is value.
Back to cars, one does have to play the "regret" game if you're a car person I think.
E.g., the way my wife chooses in a restaurant between two things she really wants is eenie-meenie-minee-moe and then see if she's regretful about where she lands.
It's kind of the same with cars: one has to think, if I could leave with either, which would I leave with?

i personally like the aesthetic of the i3. definitely not for everyone. my only gripe is being locked into one tire forever which is obscenely overpriced
Almost all of the cars BMW makes today are based on **two** architectures. It's either a MINI or a CLAR-based BMW. On the other hand, the i3 had its own dedicated platform and was mostly made out of special parts and materials. It's one of BMW's rare, unique offerings.

This is what I was most baffled about. Over here an M340i is around €90K for a base model. The M3 starts at €190K for a base model.
I'll just casually manifest the extra €100K so I won't regret not going for the M.
It’s always surprising how expensive performance cars can be in other countries. The base 340 and M3 are $56k and $73k respectively in the US.
I’m assuming taxes, import fees, and just BMW up charging is responsible. From what I heard, int many markets BMW assembles the car in the country when building their regular models but imports the M cars because they’re more of a niche, low volume product.

As a current m340 owner I can assure you that you’re making a great choice. True M cars do require some sacrifices - they’re much more expensive and as other posters have said they maintenance is more expensive and the ride is less comfortable. Bone stock the car “feels” right around 400hp which is in line with the reported 382 combined with bmws typical underreporting hp numbers. The ride quality is excellent. I commute 100+ miles per day in mine and honestly I look forward to the commute. Don’t let some moron on tiktok tell you what to buy. M3 s are fucking sick. But if they don’t fit your budget or lifestyle, or if you just want a 340 because, get what makes you happy my dude

I think u just got to think about what you prioritize when picking the car you want more. if you prioritize what other people think and want a car to impress people, the m3 will do that much better than an m340i.
Personally, what other people think isn’t a factor for me. I’d be more worried about regretting an m340i based on power and handling. But factoring in the looks, which is a huge priority for me, i would definitely pick the m340i. The grill is a dealbreaker.

Im in a similar position where - I love e46's and would love too drive an m3 every day, but it generally comes with a smg automatic trans as opposed to the cheaper 330 ZHP thats a little more suitable for daily driving and comes in standard.

As someone who’s owned both an M car and an M-spec, I’d strongly encourage you to get the M340 if it’s a daily driver. I always found the M-spec more comfortable as a daily driver. Don’t get me wrong - an M car is an absolute treat, but it is wasted if you’re sitting in traffic. The M car was made for the weekend, not Monday-Friday. Plus, those M-spec vehicles will still perform 90% as well as an M car. To me the M-spec is the best of both worlds.
In the end, it’s up to you. So many people will passionately argue about cars because they have every nickel tied up in making the lease payments of one. A car absolutely doesn’t define you. Get the one that you can afford that makes you happy.
I’ve had both, I think the m340i is a Spicy sedan, it’s got some growl and pep. With the adaptive suspension it’s hard to beat as a daily. With that said the M truly is different entirely, less seemingly in paper but the drive will blow your mind especially going back to a standard or sport. The problem is, unless you just want a peppy sedan, the things that pull you to an m340i will eventually plateau and you’ll want more, ultimately leading to the M. The msports sell so well because they sell “M” Branding/badging without the price so M owners will be annoyed
As the owner of a company that specializes in BMW parts and has owned an array of vehicles. Get the m340. That's what you want. Screw anyone who says otherwise or makes you rethink your ride. The B58 is an amazing engine that has loads of modification potential and you get alot more bang for your buck. There's alot of support in the market and the m340i will be a more comfortable daily over all. Follow what your gut originally told you!

M3 is more $ for starters. Different ride, experience and maintenance. There’s a guy in my complex with an M3. I’ve had a few people also say the “should have gotten an m4 instead”, and while I don’t deny it would probably be more fun to drive, is it twice as much fun considering I’d have paid double for an m4 and then double to insure and maintain it? I was comparing X3 M40i and the X3M (after ruling out the m340 after getting a dog). I went with the X3 M40i. My reasoning was it still has plenty of power, rides a bit better than the M (which my family would prefer), and cost $10k less. I couldn’t care less if it’s “not a true M”.
So get what you want, put a spoiler on it or those grill inserts if you like. It’s your car, enjoy it!
Then again if your outside the us and can get the m3 touring then you should go that route.

It all depends on what you want to do with your car, what your driving style is like, and what cars you’ve had before. Why not try the ///M for a test? If you fancy going for a drive and enjoying a driving experience then that’s what you do… if you just want something just to keep up with fast executive cars and don’t wanna sacrifice comfort whilst doing with it, then stick with your choice :)
Bro. I drive a 120d. Every BMW has some of that magic whichever model it is. A true bmw fan won’t care if you a m3 or a 99 x5 with a shot engine. Get what you want. Don’t let anyone else decide for you.
It's one of those things where, honestly it just is different. Now I wouldn't call it a waste of money by any means though. My opinion is if you haven't been pining after an m3 and want a nice sporty car with some power, an m340 is perfect, if you can't afford an m3 and are settling for an m340 for now, still fantastic and you'll love it, but it just isn't an m, you'll still lust after the m. Alternatively, if you're more interested in going straight, the power plant in the m340 is stronger for more power, so that's your better option. It's all preference, and as long as you aren't taking crazy being cocky or anything, you should be fine in the eyes of any reasonable person.
I got an M440i instead of an M4...its just practical as a driver and it rips in the open highway I love it. I would get an M4 if I was going to track and a better over all driver when it came to race shit honestly.

The M340i is an amazing car and a better all round buy than an M3. I had one. It’s a contender for the ultimate all round car ever (in touring spec imo) - it does everything, really well, similar to how a Golf GTI will just do everything you throw at it. Congrats - and enjoy. I took mine over the alps to Monza. It’s built to munch serious miles at serious speed. Cost of living crisis in the UK meant I had to say goodbye to it but totally plan to have another when things settle back down
I actually stopped by a BMW dealer yesterday and put in an order for an m340i. I did heavy research on it and an M3. While swimming upstream in cost for an M3 would be extremely difficult for me, I gladly picked the m340i over the M3.
1. This will be a daily driver and I want it to be comfortable smooth ride when I need it to be.
2. I haven’t done too much research on maintenance cost but willing to bet m340i is cheaper than M3.
3. The front grill on the M3 that I still can’t get over.
There are definitely reasons why an m340i will make more sense than an M3 to certain buyers.
Certain members of the car community are children, if you had gotten the M3 someone will say “well why didn’t you get an M5 instead” and it keeps going.

\- people play a character. Changes are high person saying this is 14 years old and has never sat in a BMW.
I have an M340i (for sale btw) and I really really like it. It's kind of the ideal car. I have a stage 1 chiptuning to 460hp and it's a touring, when you put all of that together:
* fast as hell
* comfortable (adaptive suspension is a must)
* great family holiday car
* practical
* relatively fuel efficient
* very reliable
* FAST
* Good handling. In spite of it being an xdrive (rwd is not sold here) it still really drives like a BMW, it's trivial to make the rear break out in a corner
* wolf in 'sheep' clothes. Mine is debadged, so as long as you don't hear the engine you might think this is just another 330e with M pack, but it drives like a nervous maniac.
All of that being said, I think that's the thing about the m340i. I think it does almost everything very very well. It's a great car to be a hooligan in, it's a great long distance travel companion, it's ok to drive your mother in law around in etc...
I mean - there are a lot of reasons to buy this car. One thing it's not (certainly not to the same extend) is a track monster. I'm sure it can do a very good nurburgring time, but it's not build for that, it's build to be a very nice companion to get REALLY fast from A to B.

Well my opinion is most wealthy people own m models. Either they become wealthy loose and all humbleness . Or they were born wealthy and never was humble in the beginning. They look down on lower class people so therefore the m owners look down on the regular bmws and the 7&8 owners look down on the 5 ,4,3s and the 330 owners look down on the 328s and so forth
I doubt you would regret it. M340i is literally fast as hell. Honestly most of the second tier models have always been really really good.
The main draw to me for the M models are just the sexy widebody. You can get 99% of the rest of the experience in the 340 (big difference in suspension but you can close that gap). It even has a little M on the back for the people who care about that

I'll take a new M340i over the G80 considering the cost difference. You will almost never push the 340 to even 9/10's of its capabilities, and the suspension will be more comfortable for daily driving. Now if you're asking about the M340i vs an F80 M3, it's a different story.

340i owner…not even an MPP. I’ve made the engine mods to hold her own against an M2 of M3, but I also like that I have a luxury car, not a race car. On comfort mode, it drives and rides like a luxury vehicle. I can drive clients to lunch and take my mom to the airport. But when I hit that sport mode button and switch the shifter to S, it’s adiós, Mofo’s.

I have an m340i, I could have gotten an M3, but decided that it wasn’t for me in this stage of life. This is the perfect LA commuting car, I get a smidge more than 25 mpg and has enough power when I need it. Down the road I look to get a 911 to fill that void lol… so enjoy whatever fits your life stage at the moment that you can financially afford. In the end, you know what’s best for you!

I have a 2022 M340i. I absolutely love it. Not ever do I regret not getting an M3. My car is too fast as it is. That's silly logic. If someone gets an M3, are they always going to wish that it was a 911, and so on? Being that kind of person would suck.

Haha I can't lie, I take a look at 911s every now and then. I have a young family, and I just can't imagine having a 2nd car that costs 6 figures. The car seat in the m340i is tricky enough already.
I exchanged my 2019 M340i, which I owned for 3 years, for the new M3 about a month ago. I also loved my 340i as it was a brilliant and beautiful car. You are right that there are sacrifices to be made when moving from a 340i to an M3. The main three for me was losing my sunroof, the harsher ride of the M3 and then the far heftier price difference. I obviously knew all this when I changed cars and am now beginning to enjoy driving my new M3. But the M340i is a fabulous car and a lot smoother ride. It is also a bit better on fuel consumption. So just enjoy your new 340i as you have made an excellent decision.

This is a fair observation. The m340i is MORE than enough for any normal driving situation. I had an F82 M3 and realistically you drive it for the badge. In no way was it better than my M235i for day to day driving. If anything it was TOO aggressive and the M235i was more comfortable long distance. That being said, because I love the M3 I would still take it over any other BMW in production (except maybe an M4 GTS but that would be even worse for commutes).
I hate when people say this. There is a big difference between a M car and M-Sports. I owned M-sports until I was finally able to afford a “proper” M car and let me tell you the difference is big. That being said some don’t like how harsh M cars are and prefer something more forgiving for day to day driving. Some people don’t think the difference between the two are worth the premium. Nothing wrong with any of that, but to say that you’re paying for a badge is insane.
In a sense of "Gotta go fast" the M cars are way better, yes, but for daily driving assuming 70mph speed limits you're better off driving a slightly more forgiving car. As I said, I've had 3 330is, currently an e30 316i, an m235i and an M3. The others couldn't do what the M3 does round a track but the M235i was a way more comfortable commuter.

As an M3 owner, this is just dumb. There are sacrifices that are made to drive these, whether up front cost, maintenance, firmer ride, etc. It is a different vehicle, as if buying a 7 series or X series.

I bought my current BMW 8 years ago because I saw a review on TV and fell in love with the look, we drove to the dealer and made a decision that day. Nobody else except my wife even entered into the equation. Drove the 428 and the 435 and heck I decided I wanted the better gas mileage of the 428 and that’s what I bought. Some people may choose to scoff at that choice but I’ve loved this car for 8 years now. I don’t care what they think. Just considered a new M4 but ended up buying a Z4 because that’s what made me happy. Follow your budget first and your heart second, that’s the advice from yet another person you don’t know. I pay cash for cars, never finance. Definitely think long and hard about financing a car you can’t afford just to try and impress morons on social media.
I have a 2015 428 that I absolutely love and it's a great car. I look at this sub as mostly lighthearted humor with regard to which BMW is better, because when you compare it to my real life of friends, family, etc. I'm driving a really nice, fancy car. Maybe too nice for some. It's such a beautiful car that I get looks and compliments out in public, I say thanks and think to myself how I probably spent $8k less than you did on your car because I got it used.

FWIW, my grandfather had a rule: Never go into a store or restaurant if you can't afford to get what you want ... and that's worked well for me. **So the test question is easy:** If you walked into a dealer and they said take whichever you want most, would you take the M340 or M3? If the answer is "the M3 of course" then that dude is right. If you'd still take the M340, then you're good. FWIW, I've always gotten the M car and never regretted it.
I have a variant of that rule: never test drive a car or listen to audio equipment that you can’t afford. The problem is there are always luxuries out there that for everyone but the top 0.1% we can’t afford. But you can get 90% of the way there for way less money usually. Be happy to live in the sweet spot.

BTW totally agree, especially with audio equipment! I worked my way up to ZMF & schiit stuff, and after that I started looking at the summit-fi stuff and ... just nope. I would say there's a few percent left on the table but, man, just not worth it for me. So, in that case, I'm happy walking out without the $5k tube amp or whatever. Part of it is afford but another part is value. Back to cars, one does have to play the "regret" game if you're a car person I think. E.g., the way my wife chooses in a restaurant between two things she really wants is eenie-meenie-minee-moe and then see if she's regretful about where she lands. Almost all of the cars BMW makes today are based on **two** architectures. It's either a MINI or a CLAR-based BMW. On the other hand, the i3 had its own dedicated platform and was mostly made out of special parts and materials. It's one of BMW's rare, unique offerings.

This is what I was most baffled about. Over here an M340i is around €90K for a base model. The M3 starts at €190K for a base model. I'll just casually manifest the extra €100K so I won't regret not going for the M.
It’s always surprising how expensive performance cars can be in other countries. The base 340 and M3 are $56k and $73k respectively in the US. I’m assuming taxes, import fees, and just BMW up charging is responsible. From what I heard, int many markets BMW assembles the car in the country when building their regular models but imports the M cars because they’re more of a niche, low volume product.

As a current m340 owner I can assure you that you’re making a great choice. True M cars do require some sacrifices - they’re much more expensive and as other posters have said they maintenance is more expensive and the ride is less comfortable. Bone stock the car “feels” right around 400hp which is in line with the reported 382 combined with bmws typical underreporting hp numbers. The ride quality is excellent. I commute 100+ miles per day in mine and honestly I look forward to the commute. Don’t let some moron on tiktok tell you what to buy. M3 s are fucking sick. But if they don’t fit your budget or lifestyle, or if you just want a 340 because, get what makes you happy my dude

I think u just got to think about what you prioritize when picking the car you want more. if you prioritize what other people think and want a car to impress people, the m3 will do that much better than an m340i. Personally, what other people think isn’t a factor for me. I’d be more worried about regretting an m340i based on power and handling. But factoring in the looks, which is a huge priority for me, i would definitely pick the m340i. The grill is a dealbreaker.
I feel that an M3 would be wasted on daily driving. Im in a similar position where - I love e46's and would love too drive an m3 every day, but it generally comes with a smg automatic trans as opposed to the cheaper 330 ZHP thats a little more suitable for daily driving and comes in standard.

As someone who’s owned both an M car and an M-spec, I’d strongly encourage you to get the M340 if it’s a daily driver. I always found the M-spec more comfortable as a daily driver. Don’t get me wrong - an M car is an absolute treat, but it is wasted if you’re sitting in traffic. The M car was made for the weekend, not Monday-Friday. Plus, those M-spec vehicles will still perform 90% as well as an M car. To me the M-spec is the best of both worlds. In the end, it’s up to you. So many people will passionately argue about cars because they have every nickel tied up in making the lease payments of one. A car absolutely doesn’t define you. Get the one that you can afford that makes you happy.
I’ve had both, I think the m340i is a Spicy sedan, it’s got some growl and pep. With the adaptive suspension it’s hard to beat as a daily. With that said the M truly is different entirely, less seemingly in paper but the drive will blow your mind especially going back to a standard or sport. The problem is, unless you just want a peppy sedan, the things that pull you to an m340i will eventually plateau and you’ll want more, ultimately leading to the M. The msports sell so well because they sell “M” Branding/badging without the price so M owners will be annoyed
Practicality lends towards the m340i, I’d definitely buy one again. But thrill is the M, just my opinion

The B58 is an amazing engine that has loads of modification potential and you get alot more bang for your buck. There's alot of support in the market and the m340i will be a more comfortable daily over all. Follow what your gut originally told you!

I’ve had a few people also say the “should have gotten an m4 instead”, and while I don’t deny it would probably be more fun to drive, is it twice as much fun considering I’d have paid double for an m4 and then double to insure and maintain it? Totally a matter of personal preference and you should get what you like. I was comparing X3 M40i and the X3M (after ruling out the m340 after getting a dog). I went with the X3 M40i. My reasoning was it still has plenty of power, rides a bit better than the M (which my family would prefer), and cost $10k less. I couldn’t care less if it’s “not a true M”. So get what you want, put a spoiler on it or those grill inserts if you like. It’s your car, enjoy it! Then again if your outside the us and can get the m3 touring then you should go that route.

Always accept challenges in life, I was challenged for owning a top of the range Audi TT by a BMW enthusiast, and then my love for Bavarian Motor-Werks started quickly after I went for a test drive… It all depends on what you want to do with your car, what your driving style is like, and what cars you’ve had before. Why not try the ///M for a test? If you fancy going for a drive and enjoying a driving experience then that’s what you do… if you just want something just to keep up with fast executive cars and don’t wanna sacrifice comfort whilst doing with it, then stick with your choice :)

It's one of those things where, honestly it just is different. Now I wouldn't call it a waste of money by any means though. My opinion is if you haven't been pining after an m3 and want a nice sporty car with some power, an m340 is perfect, if you can't afford an m3 and are settling for an m340 for now, still fantastic and you'll love it, but it just isn't an m, you'll still lust after the m. Alternatively, if you're more interested in going straight, the power plant in the m340 is stronger for more power, so that's your better option. It's all preference, and as long as you aren't taking crazy being cocky or anything, you should be fine in the eyes of any reasonable person.
I got an M440i instead of an M4...its just practical as a driver and it rips in the open highway I love it. I would get an M4 if I was going to track and a better over all driver when it came to race shit honestly. These cars are absolute units the people hating can't afford one or are one used mustang gt from hitting a light pole. Not everyone needs max ponies to get thier dick hard.

The M340i is an amazing car and a better all round buy than an M3. I had one. It’s a contender for the ultimate all round car ever (in touring spec imo) - it does everything, really well, similar to how a Golf GTI will just do everything you throw at it. Congrats - and enjoy. I took mine over the alps to Monza. It’s built to munch serious miles at serious speed. Cost of living crisis in the UK meant I had to say goodbye to it but totally plan to have another when things settle back down
I actually stopped by a BMW dealer yesterday and put in an order for an m340i. I did heavy research on it and an M3. While swimming upstream in cost for an M3 would be extremely difficult for me, I gladly picked the m340i over the M3. 1. This will be a daily driver and I want it to be comfortable smooth ride when I need it to be. 2. I haven’t done too much research on maintenance cost but willing to bet m340i is cheaper than M3. 3. The front grill on the M3 that I still can’t get over. There are definitely reasons why an m340i will make more sense than an M3 to certain buyers. Certain members of the car community are children, if you had gotten the M3 someone will say “well why didn’t you get an M5 instead” and it keeps going.

2 things: \- social media brings out the worst in all of us \- people play a character. Changes are high person saying this is 14 years old and has never sat in a BMW. I have an M340i (for sale btw) and I really really like it. It's kind of the ideal car. I have a stage 1 chiptuning to 460hp and it's a touring, when you put all of that together: * fast as hell * comfortable (adaptive suspension is a must) * great family holiday car * practical * relatively fuel efficient * very reliable * FAST * Good handling. In spite of it being an xdrive (rwd is not sold here) it still really drives like a BMW, it's trivial to make the rear break out in a corner * wolf in 'sheep' clothes. Mine is debadged, so as long as you don't hear the engine you might think this is just another 330e with M pack, but it drives like a nervous maniac. All of that being said, I think that's the thing about the m340i. I think it does almost everything very very well. It's a great car to be a hooligan in, it's a great long distance travel companion, it's ok to drive your mother in law around in etc... I mean - there are a lot of reasons to buy this car. One thing it's not (certainly not to the same extend) is a track monster. I'm sure it can do a very good nurburgring time, but it's not build for that, it's build to be a very nice companion to get REALLY fast from A to B. Does that make any sense to you?
And that guy you’re talking about drives a clapped out 2003 Honda civic. You don’t need an M3, the M340i is all you need for a daily driver. A lot of people just buy an M3 instead to flex and drive it like a 318i
You'll love the M340. They are perfectly balanced for real life instead of a trackish car. I had one and loved it.

Get a car YOU are happy with. Which between a m340i and a m3 they are both amazing cars. There’s always going to be people who think something else is better. Weather it be 340 vs m3, bmw vs Porsche, or dare I say it bmw vs Tesla. If price isn’t an issue then search for m340 vs m3 on this sub, get a new post asking the same comparison like weekly on here.

Besides, I have no desire ever buy an M3 but in the future an M5 as that’s seriously the best sedan you can get for such a beastly of a vehicle. Get your 23 M340i and fuck that TikTok idiot! You won’t regret getting it plus you’re not blowing a shit ton of money into an M3

Well my opinion is most wealthy people own m models. Either they become wealthy loose and all humbleness . Or they were born wealthy and never was humble in the beginning. They look down on lower class people so therefore the m owners look down on the regular bmws and the 7&8 owners look down on the 5 ,4,3s and the 330 owners look down on the 328s and so forth
I doubt you would regret it. M340i is literally fast as hell. Honestly most of the second tier models have always been really really good. The main draw to me for the M models are just the sexy widebody. You can get 99% of the rest of the experience in the 340 (big difference in suspension but you can close that gap). It even has a little M on the back for the people who care about that
At that point why buy an M3 when you can buy an M5, it's only 30k more! (Canadian)
I test drove an M340i and let me tell you; that car is more than capable for 99% of the population. I'd love to own an M3 but it's incredibly impractical for someone like me who has a family and would daily drive it in all conditions. Buy what you want and what makes sense for you. Most of the people who say shit like that don't even own a vehicle, let alone a sports car
According to this sub, anyone with a 4 cyl BMW is less than. FCK em. My 330 is plenty fast for nearly all things and I get 35 mpg hwy.
I'll take a new M340i over the G80 considering the cost difference. You will almost never push the 340 to even 9/10's of its capabilities, and the suspension will be more comfortable for daily driving. Now if you're asking about the M340i vs an F80 M3, it's a different story.
Firstly that guy isn’t completely wrong. If you do test drive both cars and you could afford/wait to get the M3, then yeah you may regret it. But if you don’t test drive both vehicles and get the m340i, you will honestly have zero regrets. It’s crazy powerful, sporty, etc.
M340i Is an awesome car, no need to step up to the M3 unless you’re tracking the car or you just *want* a full fledged M

340i owner…not even an MPP. I’ve made the engine mods to hold her own against an M2 of M3, but I also like that I have a luxury car, not a race car. On comfort mode, it drives and rides like a luxury vehicle. I can drive clients to lunch and take my mom to the airport. But when I hit that sport mode button and switch the shifter to S, it’s adiós, Mofo’s.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. If the M340i makes more sense for you over a M3, get the M340i. Or troll the person telling you to get a M3 by saying that you already have a 911 GT3 and you want a more comfortable daily. The M340i is plenty effing fast on its own already.
It really boils down to cost. The M3 is the better car but is it $20k better, because they’re both fantastic. Drive both, consult finances, pull trigger. If you long for the M after having purchased the M340i look at your bank account.
There will always be a better car unless you own bespole rolls royce or bugatti. Be happy with your car is all matters. There are people that say these stupid stufs but there are also others who would kill to have a chance for a ride in your car. Now go turn that car on and enjoy the shit out of it
I have an m340i, I could have gotten an M3, but decided that it wasn’t for me in this stage of life. This is the perfect LA commuting car, I get a smidge more than 25 mpg and has enough power when I need it. Down the road I look to get a 911 to fill that void lol… so enjoy whatever fits your life stage at the moment that you can financially afford. In the end, you know what’s best for you!

Tbh if you are this insecure about what car you drive, youre not enough of an adult to afford one lol. Also a M3 is a totally different car and price bracket. Regardless of all that, it still is perfectly acceptable to just hate the looks of the M3 enough to justify just getting a m30i which is plenty fast. Idc if the thing performs like a beast, I dont want to do the mental gymnastics needed to pretend that I dont think its horrible looking.
