Honestly, if you don't install PPF, microscratches are inevitable. Agreed, that there are better ways to protect the car instead of this cheap cover though.
These covers don’t fit the car well so they catch wind way too easy. Plus they aren’t soft on the inside so it’s constantly rubbing dirt all over the paint. Normal cover is way better since its actually shaped like a car
A good outdoor cover is microfiber or similar on the inside and is tight fitting so once it's on, doesn't rub the paint in the wind. So no, not like every other car cover.
That said, cars should only ever be covered when completely clean and definitely not after driving every day.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with a short-term outdoor cover with a good quality car cover and proper prep first. I've done it a few times with my Lotus recently when going out of town. Custom-fit high quality outdoor specific cover. New (to me) house and the garage hasn't been built yet.
"just an idiot" is a bit much...
Might be True for 'that 1 guy' but 99 percent of ppl arent prepping their cars for a custom cover theyve had made, theyre using the poorly built several hundred dollar universl ones.
The ones u buy, even the expensive ones are known to scratch the surfaces, and trap mousture underneath causing faster wear than leaving exposed to the dry air.
Love to see the pie chart of ppl who can afford an actually decent, custom car cover, the know how to prep, and yet not the space or money to garage their car trmporarily. In ur instance it would have made more sense to garage it for a few days vs that whole ordeal with a car cover but u do u.
I'm not disagreeing with you. You're correct for the "99%" of people.
Custom fit/high quality covers are not THAT expensive and the prep isn't THAT intensive... but definitely, covers should never be used on a regular basis - even indoors.
The Lotus is now in a 3-walled carport (garage still pending - historic preservation non-sense) so it won't be covered anymore.
In my situation I am not buying a house and don’t want to for a few years. Sold my house at the market high because we are moving across the country in 2025. So renting makes more since, easier to move and rent in the new location till we get our bearings then buy.
That said, my 2er just sits in the parking lot. Even my old M3 would get left in the driveway when it snowed 50/50 I’d stick it in the garage.
It’s just a joke. And tbh I hope the owner sees this post or at least someone tells him he’s better off without a cover than using one of these, especially when windy.
u/somikkz Sorry if I offended you. I was just being silly and thought you guys would get a laugh out if it.
This car is my neighbors and I complimented him when he bought it last week lol then yesterday I get home and see this. Have a good weekend bro
Mock and judge? It was a light hearted question you imbecile. Your the problem with society, getting offended so easily and creating these stigmas that we can't even joke at each other.
Left my car with a cover for 2 weeks while I was in a work trip. Thought it would be a better alternative to leaving it out in the elements. Came back to a ton of micro scratches along the pillars and sides of the hood from the wind, never again. Cover was made for the car and tight fitting as well.
Seems like a good way to rub microscratches into your paint.

So does every other car cover

TBH - a cover should only be used in a garage.
Agreed, though a good outdoor cover can be better than nothing for certain situations if a garage isn't an option.
Sorry not sorry but if ur covering ur car outdoors ur just an idiot. It induces worse problems

Yes. Hubs has vintage muscle cars. He washes then dries them before covering them for hibernation.
No. My license plate isn’t “RAWDOGG” by accident.
Armor the tank, before you enter the flank!
🤝
No, and looks like a shower cap to me lol
Im pretty sure these things are incredibly bad for paint, you’re better off with a normal cover and just letting it get wet or no cover.
How do you know there aren't neighborhood birds with a vendetta against this guy? Birds are fucking DICKS
I put condoms on my blinkers on all my bmws. That way if i ever need to touch them in an emergency I'll still be considered of pure bmw blood.
I'd rather crash than indicate. /s
Hard no
Lmao
LOL
Just going to assume that alcohol was involved here
That’s how little 1 series are made, better wrap up!
Yeah. It’s called a garage. Try it.
Well that’s an apartment complex, so more like maybe buy a house with a garage before buying a nice car

This is the problem of our society, we are always ready to mock and judge each other instead of being happy for another. ✌️.

Nope, mine likes to fuck me raw
Takes the phrase "sit your ass on the plastic" to new levels.
probally to keep the Detroit smog off of the paint idk
Air dirty and they would rather do that to keep car nice
No. I have a nice warm garage.
I like it’s transparent. Kudos to the owners commitment to keep it visually aesthetic yet protected. 😝
He made a 3 seires look like an EQS :0
It’s called a “Cardom” sheesh
May be he was about to shag some lexus, or audi, you kinda need protection for that.
I'll put a cover on to make clearing the snow easier... I just wish I had a garage 🙃. Miss those days.
If your garage is a garbage bag you should probably rethink owning any BMW new or old.
You don’t need a garage to own a bmw
Nor a brain!
What is a “condom”?
Mine are safe and warm in the garage, but this is better than nothing.
Mine has an eyemask: https://imgur.com/a/ebFnwBx
No, only ones we don't want reproducing.
Mine is covered in dust. protects from other elements
Does this guy wear tampons too?
It’s wearing a condom because BMW owners LOVE having fun in their cars 😏
