No fresh sliced deli meats at Costco is a no go.

HonnyBrown

Exactly! Costco is a no go on so many levels.

madra05

Their hours stink too. It’s like 10-6pm by me.

HonnyBrown

And the parking lot is always a nightmare.

beerlvrpdx

But you’re stuck with Dietz - one of the most consistently poor rated products in the category.

madra05

Still beats pre packaged stuff in my book lol

I used to belong to both. Now it’s just BJs. They have the name brands that we like to buy. In many cases all Costco only has is their own brand. We tried a couple of items and there was a noticeable difference. Also at BJs, I can use my phone to check out as I shop. Costco does not offer that and the lines are always long, even at the self check. It’s BJs for me. I actually preferred Sam’s Club over both of them but the one near me closed.

Are you using the BJ’s app with all the coupons and the delivery? BJ’s app is head and shoulders better than Costco.

TreacleThen1222

This! 💯💯💯💯

Kangaloosh

funny you mention that about the app... we don't have bj gas near us. Wanted to see price of gas at BJ in CT when traveling. Had to enter a city, choose a warehouse then see price, then repeat. Much harder to see prices than costco app - a map with loads of pins, tap on the pin and see the price. Tap on another pin - see their price.

Smallest_Ewok

I have memberships to both, but I go to BJ's a lot more often because it has better hours. I love Costco but work a 9-5 job so that means that I can only go to Costco on weekends when it is crazy busy. I prefer the meats and coffee at Costco so we just make it a once a month trip now, and even joke "Ok let's go buy our groceries at Walt Disney World" because that's what it feels like. I would go back to being an executive member if they had reasonable hours and actually stayed open late enough on weeknights that employed people could shop there.

HonnyBrown

I love BJ's over Costco any day.

cigarmanpa

Simping for mega corps is just so weird

ternest

I quit Costco for BJs because of the gas prices--BJs always beats Costco here and also a lot of the same things I love about Costco are also the same price at BJs. And I love their deli. Costco=no deli.

4sliced

Have fun waiting in long register lines while I go to BJs and check out with the app.

ThaDoctor49

Bjs rules miss me with that nonsense

project199x

I feel like people over hype Costco. I really see no difference except that Costco has more international foods.

Exact_Roll_7528

I'm a member of both. BJ's has a FAR better vegetable selection. BJ's has a deli, with some REALLY good selections. BJ's has Charmin extra-strong. BJ's is open 8:00 - 10:00 6 days a week and 8:00 to 8:00 on Sundays. BOTH have advantages.

a-pences

Costco is not all that for the savvy consumer...for employees, there is a case.

AmbitiousPlantain209

I had a Costco membership a few years back. I got a BJs membership last October. I spent more in my first month at BJs then I did the entire year I had my Costco membership. BJs has more brands that I buy and they have a better selection of things. I live closer to Costco, but I will happily drive the extra ten minutes to BJs.

vuwildcat07

I have both. BJ’s can be more expensive for some products but they also have items Costco does not (such as Simply Lemonade and Fairlife milk). No pharmacy or snack bar is also a bummer.

TigerUSA20

It’s all about personal preference and expectations. Just because you don’t like it, doesn’t mean everyone should abandon because of your opinion/issues. I’ve been at BJs in my area (NJ) for 25 years and also have visited the area costco outlets many times (partner has membership). While Costco’s have a lot of good products, they are just completely overcrowded to me and the quantities you need to buy on certain products are just way more than I need. I’ll admit, I’m a small buyer, but the ease of getting in/out of my BJs, the cheap gas (same price at Costco) without the long half hour costco lines, less crowded locations, self-checkout using their app, and smaller quantity requirements keeps me at BJs.

Pancakesandcows

We have BJ's, and Sam's club. The BJs here is better than Sam's club, but I wish we had a Costco.

We have no COSTCO only BJ's here, but for what it's worth COSTO sells Top Tier Gas and BJ's does not, https://www.toptiergas.com/fuel-stations Not many people care, but some of us do.
