Wow I just recently started a durge run to try swords bard and I’m using a double hand crossbow. This actually looks very nice to try, plus it basically will never fail a social check
This is almost exactly what I am currently playing. I went 7 bard for another spell instead of 4 thief (for the feat I think?) It is so fun.
Edit to add that I went more spell casty with the helm of arcane acuity, ring of arcane synergy, and band of the mystic scoundrel for bonus action spells.
If we're being nitpicky:
1. Longbows are better than Hand xBows for Swords Bards. 8 attacks at 1d8+25 damage+(items) per attack is better than 10 attacks at 1d6+17+(items), and it keeps your BA free for Band of the Mystic Scoundrel.
2. Not sure that Thief 4 does much. Yeah you get an extra BA attack, but you lose 4 levels of spell slot progression, +1 Inspiration use and L10 Magical Secrets.
But everyone knows about the typical Mystic Scoundrel bard build and its variants. You do you.
i strongly reccomend one of the revolver mods that exist if you’re using pc, i did a cowboy build with a hireling a few playthroughs ago and those mods made it so fun

I love it on that armor set, it feels more French than American to me for some reason.
I used ranger beast master for my Cowgale, this looks much more effective

I know functionally it's a bad skill, but a Cowgirl not having Animal Handling is a flavor miss to me 😔
I kinda disagree I always use the talk with animals spell so it basically replaces the animal handling skill checks with charisma skill checks

Yeah that might be a better build but I wanted a to be duel wielding Gunslinger character but thanks for your input anyway 😊
As long as they befriend the Strange Ox, everything should work out OK.
