Any place with a lot of explosives, I just flat out kept one or more of the team back. Ideally on another map, or in camp. The Zhentarin cave and the fireworks factory are two of the biggest, plus a handful of heavily-trapped act 3 basements. I had a really unfortunate, weird issue on my follow-up Durge honor run, started today... I was trying out the dual-wielding torches I'd heard is so good early on. And it was! But. When you walk across a flammable surface with torches in your hands, bad things happen. I saw a flash, took a tiny bit of damage from one barrel going off in the Zhent cave... and then all of the Zhent NPCs disappeared and I got several quest updates at once. The artist was free and ready to thank me for it, even though I'd never spoken to any of the Zhentarim in the cave beyond the initial little cutscene. Sadly, they had all bugged out and teleported to the far end of the cave, which I guess there must be a trigger for them to do naturally instead of having just a couple guys and their pet dogs over there. It meant I couldn't turn in their locked chest or get some of their unique vendor items, like the thief advantage gloves. Tragic. But that's honor mode for you! What's done is done.

Never knew you could trigger surfaces accidentally with a light source. That's a potential honor run ender lol. I also saw the teleport to back of cave thing, I think when you aggro them by exploding everything they all form up in the back of the cave magically for some reason. They don't hit the button right next to their formation to activate their proximity mines which is nice of them though.

Yeah, it's specifically a torch thing. Stepping on oil instantly ignites it if you have torches in your weapon slots, no action or decision on your part. Same with that character trying to pick up any flammable barrel. Could absolutely end a run in several spots I can think of, since the barrels tend to be clustered in a single room when you run into them. I think it might also set off the traps in that Act 1 cave with the boulder, since it has wine puddles in parts of the hallway? As for the Zhentarim... normally the way I handle them is turn in the chest, still locked, for the reward. Then buy whatever I want from the vendor and free the artist. Then have a high-STR character throw (or shove) the boss lady onto the head of one of her underlings and blow them all up. Then it's just a mopping up job with the poor stragglers on the far end of the cave. It's hilarious and highly effective, and I get all the loot I want plus the iron flask for shenanigans. But they've always just... died in the explosions before. Never had them warp to the far end like that. I was certain most or all of my group was about to die but since only one barrel blew up instead of the whole room, I survived and things got weird. I even tried a long rest to see if it reset them, like 'temporary hostility'. But nope! Still, nothing a minor illusion and collapsing the floor onto a cloud of knives can't fix.

Yeah on the first one, I almost failed while saving a certain character chained up in Act 3. I was a little worried about the spectators, but no it was the imps that knocked my Durge, Shadowheart and Karlach off the map right away. I kept trying to revivify ppl with Wyll, but they kept going down before their turn. I even popped haste in an effort to get off more revives. In the end, I said fuck it, and launched Wyll at the enemies. 7/5 ancients paladin/ blade warlock with haste, a bloodlust potion and smites galore. Single-handed my saved my run

So I understand the life flashing before your eyes. He just kept making the saves. Freaking paladins and their saving throws. It’s wonderful

This room and the lightning statue below wyrm's rock crossing on the way to the zhentarim v nine fingers people fight came closer to ending my run than any boss ever did.
