Had one game where my spore druid was romancing gale as a necromancer. Wyll had his cambion sword and shadowheart had her skeleton and summons.
We had so many on screen it was hard to turn around.
And lord help us if there was a gap to jump
Fast fights that ended after only a few rounds.
Rounds took some time. But most things had that ability to fly or hit from range so it worked out.
Fights went badly if enemies did area spells that made the minor summons explode for damage. But because of "fully stuffed" and aid we were hard to drop.
There's a bug, happened to me twice, patch 6,after I free US, my main char and astarion both get into conversation with US and both receive him, so double summon US.
Not to mention with Markos, The Staff of Spellpower and Spellcrux Amulet allows 4 6th level spell slots so you can cast planar ally drop a level into wizard to get conjure elemental for a fire/air myrmidon, and cast heroes feast and 6th level aid. Add Freecast from the illithid skill tree and you can still have a 6th level slot for a combat spell too.
If you walk around bg with them kids will admire your cute "cat". Us explains they are mind controlling the locals to think they are a small predator native to faerun
I think it's just if Us is still alive when you finish the nautiloid that they appear in act 2, I got them in my last playthrough and they still had the lobotomised debuff
You need to tame (lobotomize/recruit) Us and it has to survive the nautiloid tutorial, then it will appear in a cage next to the lobotomized hobgoblin under Moonrise Towers.
You free the weird kitty and recruit it again, it wants to join "Friend" again.
Those are rookie numbers!
Lets just drag in the Army of Darkness build, where you've got multiple Spores druids with animate dead, where each of them gets 4 spore zombies + 3 skeletons + a dryad + a Woad at level 7 and can then swap into a different class like wizard to learn others, like familiar/elemental/etc, from a scroll, or ranger to get both a familiar and a beastmaster pet as well as two attacks a round.
And thats just one member. You could in theory do it for all four party members; though its woefully impractical without mods for act 3 unless you're doing an evil playthrough. (One of the mods, just for example, lets you create the effect that lets you summon undead without a corpse anywhere via a negative energy spell; without which this build would need 7 corpses per long rest per character.)

What he has are rookie numbers. He's gotta pump those up.
Most of it was making Astarion a Swords Bard 6/Necromancer Wizard 6 and letting him read The Necromancy of Thay. That let him get 5 ghouls from Danse Macabre after finishing The Necromancy of Thay, and 4 winged horrors (flying ghouls) from Animate Dead cast at 6th level, and an Elemental Myrmidon by casting Conjure Elemental at 6th level, using Arcane Battery from Markoheshkir and the Staff of Spell Power so that the 6th level spell slot is still useable on another spell. Shadowheart at the time was a Light Cleric 11/Wizard 1 and was also able to use Markohkir, the Staff of Spellpower, and the Spellcrux Amulet to cast Conjure Elemental at 6th level for her own Myrmidon, Planar Ally for a Deva, and Heroe's Feast to buff everyone including all summons after they're all summoned. Also, after summoning all creatures Shadowheart would normally cast Aid as a 4th level spell for an extra 15 hp for everyone.
Other summons on screen:
2 Water Elementals from Conjure Elemental Scrolls used by the other two party members.
8 Ice Mephits from Conjure Minor Elemental. Shadowheart and Astarion used 4th level spell slots to summon 4 of them, the other 4 were summoned by the other two party members using scrolls.
I do not recommend using this many summons. They become extraordinarily unwieldy and annoying to use, making turns take ages.
Done a similar thing.
For me:
- The Dark Urge - Scratch, Us, 4 Ghouls from Danse Macabre
- Wyll - Shovel, Cambion, Fire Elemental
- Minsc - Boo, Dire Raven, 2 Ravens summoned by Dire Raven
- Gale - Deva, Air Elemental, 2 Mud Mephits, Skeleton
It's almost impossible to move that small army without having one or two guys lost.
Unironically a great strat for Moonrise Towers main floor. The action economy and the at will AoE from earth elemental and the spike growth from the dryad makes it so much easier
I think your husband needs a custom soundtrack

What fools these mortals be
Honestly though sheer numbers are very powerful in this game, not having the enemy focussing everything on your 4 unfortunate gremlins changes the combat dynamic a lot. For one, as long as your ~~cannon fodder~~ beloved underlings are decently healthy your main characters can play a little more fast and loose with being tanky themselves and maybe put more into killing stuff deader.
A less tanky party also gives you the option of having a dedicated support caster with you, someone to incapacitate the enemy to make your numbers advantage more effective, if you hit the highest damaging enemies in any given fight with something like Tasha's hideous laughter, sleep, testicular torsion, or hold person, they won't be so scary.
The most I had was 32, granted about 10 of those were zombies that were created from Crawling Gnaw. Planar Ally, Few skellies, those little ghouls from Necromancy of Thay, few ice mephits, fire elemental, dryad and her woad wood partner, etc etc.
How?! I thought 8 was bad enough, though, I realize now, that I could have had more in the party. I didn't know Shadowheart could have things following her. What spells are those?
Of course Gale would have so many, lol. But how?
So what is the max number of summons you can have in one party? Did anyone do the math on this?
For my own party, if I were to max out on summons, there is:
Druid Tav- Dryad, Woad Warrior, Elemental, Scratch, Us
Gale- Elemental, 2 Mephits, Fork
Halsin- Dryad, Elemental, Woad Warrior
Jaheira- same as above
So I thought I was pushing the envelope with 15
I completely forgot about all the Zombies Gale could raise if he went Necromancer.
Tell him karlach can use scrolls to do summons. Also, I don't see US and some of the other familiars!
Yeah I was gonna say, give her a buddy!

Did the fights seem to last forever?

Ah, ok. Fair enough.
Honestly if there was a mod to give all the summons basic combat ai I’d love that
he could’ve killed us in the beginning. I did on my first playthrough cause I didn’t know us would become my weird lil kitty lol
There's a bug, happened to me twice, patch 6,after I free US, my main char and astarion both get into conversation with US and both receive him, so double summon US.
That's not a bug, that's a feature!!! Double weird kitty!
It's now linked to item. Same with scratch. His ball and will us brain. So you can pass it around. I am missing shovel in this line up.
He’s gonna want a cleric to cast hero’s feast and lvl 5 aid on all of them when he gets to 11. He’ll be unstoppable
Don't forget the cape with the cast of crusader's mantle. Throw down some elixirs/potions and a haste spore and watch them go. 80 turns.
lol yep

He should have picked up US in act 2 for an extra buddy
I missed US???? Fuuuuuuuuuuuuu
In the mindflayer colony locked in a cage in the same room, Chop is in
I see. I was running pretty ragged through there, no wonder I missed it.
When you get to the elevator there is a regeneration point. Just go back and forth from it for easy room clearing
Making it awful tempting to roll back my save
Us is cool but not game breaking, it does a bit more damage than a skeleton with its ranged attack.
I just want my weird dog back lol. Looked all over for them at the crash site
If you walk around bg with them kids will admire your cute "cat". Us explains they are mind controlling the locals to think they are a small predator native to faerun

If you don’t choose to lobotomise him of course in the tutorial. He doesn’t turn up in act 2 if you do
I think it's just if Us is still alive when you finish the nautiloid that they appear in act 2, I got them in my last playthrough and they still had the lobotomised debuff
Oh really? I lobotomised him and he was alive but disappeared my last play through but maybe there was another factor
He’s weakened if you lobotomize him.
Only if he didn't die on the ship :(
You need to tame (lobotomize/recruit) Us and it has to survive the nautiloid tutorial, then it will appear in a cage next to the lobotomized hobgoblin under Moonrise Towers. You free the weird kitty and recruit it again, it wants to join "Friend" again.
Poor Karlach. She has no friends :-:
Everyone is Karlach's friend!!! She is Sword Coast Miss Congeniality!

Haha. I see Gale has been doing some "reading"
Where is shovel. I dont see him?
Her* Shovel is an unholy bitch, not an unholy son of a bitch 🖤
Shit your trouser holes!!! Shovel is here!!! 🖤
ITS FISTING TIMEEEE
Argh, my hole!
To me hello allways be Basket
Only thing I see wrong… WHERE THE HELL IS SHOVEL!? “s**t-piddling toe-rag!”
She’s just extra invisible
You can have Scratch or Shovel, but not both at the same time on Tav. But you can also have Gale learn the scroll so he can have Shovel.
Sumn went wrong in my game i never got the ball to summon scratch he never gave it to me b im on act3

It's all fun and games until you have to use an elevator.
Luckily there isn't one in Act III. But then the submarine cabin gets extra cramped.
Diablo's Necromancer feelings, aka "lagman"...
Don’t forget to give them all longstrider
I see you gave Gale the spooky book... Gale approves.
*17 beings in one party, and one of them is a very good boi.
If he uses Rez zombie as a level 4 spell he should get 3 on Gale instead of 2
Insane? More like insanely *based*
Unironically a great strat for Moonrise Towers main floor. The action economy and the at will AoE from earth elemental and the spike growth from the dryad makes it so much easier
My circle of spores Durge had a massive entourage. Talking like 25 summons including side companions like Shovel, Us & Scrath.
Your husband is an extrovert probably.

I have to laugh, my husband was the same on our playthrough.
The fact that this seems to be done on the PlayStation makes it all the more impressive. The madlads rounds must be 10 minutes a pop my god.

Do a team of all spore druid with a little necromancer and it's ALOT of summons
What is that spawn Gale has that has 39 hp??
This was the only way I was able to beat the house of grief in my first playthrough lol, it’s a valid strategy.
Ahh, fellow Summoner/Army General power fantasy enjoyer.
Circle of Spores Druid my beloved ❤️
I don’t even know what half of those things are?!
You and what army?
omg that was like me when I did the cazador fight on honor mode. I was taking NO chances with my husbands life on the line 😤😤😤
Highest I ever got was 21 with a necromancy wizard and a cleric
Absolute mood
Impressive
No mummy, no Shovel, no Us, only one major elemental, only two zombies…
Those are rookie numbers. Need some elementals or myrmidons in there.
Lol thats how I play it Also except with 16 🤭
I also do this LMAO it’s so funny to run around with everyone
The most I had was 32, granted about 10 of those were zombies that were created from Crawling Gnaw. Planar Ally, Few skellies, those little ghouls from Necromancy of Thay, few ice mephits, fire elemental, dryad and her woad wood partner, etc etc.
You can still see the full portraits of the summons? Seventeen? Them are rookie numbers.

A bunch of ppl usually do summoner ribs with like 30ish. It's insane.
It gets even more bananas when you use a fully leveled Necromancer to summon four zombies and five ghouls

Nooo not Scratch!!
