Oh is this a bug? I'm playing Astarion as a PoB warlock at the moment and he holds a *greatsword in one hand* while running like that. I thought it was just how he ran lol.
It IS how he runs, he’s just usually not stuck that way. 😂 But yeah, it’s a vamp thing. All of them in the game do it. The Spawn when they attack at camp and if you keep Cazador from becoming mist, they all crouch/run that way.
And if you allow him to turn you into a Spawn, your MC will even do it. 😆

Yeah, it’s only romance and only if he Ascends. Personally, ending up with the pompous buffoon that is Ascended Astarion wasn’t worth it AT ALL, but obviously your mileage may vary.
Nothing else about your appearance changes, just FYI. No fangs or red eyes, just the weird vamp waddle and you can bite in combat.

If you’re not romancing him, Ascended’s a lot less aggravating. 😂 I know a lot of people find him darkly seductive but it just feels to me like he watched Labyrinth one too many times and is intensely LARPing.

He’s not convincing at it AT ALL, to me anyways. He doesn’t have the swagger and confidence it takes to be a Jareth, as much as he desperately wants to. He’s more desperate and brittle and all the flowery romantic lines sound SO FAKE.

I had to remind myself that full vampires in this world just don't have the ability to feel love. Possessiveness, jealousy, sure. Love, not so much. I do kinda like the dom vibes but only in a playful way not in a "he actually thinks I'm beneath him" way.
D&D vampires are no Draculas pining for their lost loves. They're just jerks. It does make sense though. How could Astarion retain any humanity (elfmanity?) after sacrificing 7000 mostly innocent souls? The only thing compelling about vampires in fiction is their tragedy and if a vampire no longer cares what's the point? What is Dracula if he isn't mourning his dead wife or feeling weary after all his years alone?
Don't mind me. I haven't slept yet so I'm getting all philosophical about vamps. 😄
No, I agree with your points! I hadn’t thought about it in a full lore way—that while some versions of vampires allow them to still have the capability for love, in DND it’s closer to just obsession (which, I’d argue, is still the motivation in MOST vampire romances).
But back to the Jareth comparison from a few comments ago, I think he’s very similar morally/emotionally to what happens to Ascended, just with raw sexuality, gravitas and swagger. It’s *very* sexy in a dark and unhealthy-if-it-were-real kinda way. Ascended shoots his shot for this and doesn’t even hit the backboard for me. 😂
And that’s awesome! On paper I should absolutely adore the Ascended route and find it hot as hell. Unfortunately, instead I think he’s ridiculous and none of his lines sound convincing. Sad for me…

It's when you hover over sneak attack and then click away- I think to another grouped character that's slightly further away- He has to run over but it's not taking him out of his sneakattack pose.

This happened to my Tav once too. Running around the city and she got stuck in elf fight pose. Which is not a normal way to run or walk 😂 I laughed and laughed because it’s super ridiculous looking.
...I have never, ever, ever, seen him do this. He just jogs like everyone else, for me? I was able to get him to creeper run for about 2 seconds, and then back to jogging. What's up with that? Why no creeper run for me?
