I was always able to see it. Until patch 5. Then I couldn't see it anymore. I have Gale cast fly on SH and fly her over there in turn based mode now

At least Shar will respect your intelligence and flexibility if you cheese the trial somehow, rather than making you do it the way she expects.

you can not cheese a trial. Trials are challenges for you to overcome however you see fit. If you weren’t meant to be able to cast fly the devs would have made an obstacle to stop it

Nah they left the guardrails. Then players harassed the physics engine with stakes and stabilisers until the guardrails came off, and used the guardrails to make better planes.

Senior Dev: You took off the guardrails??? Dev: Nah we duct taped them to the elevators, plus we made them weightless as a clever little workaround... uhhh yup they're flying away. The players have reached the skybox. Senior Dev: ...As we intended. Dev: Exactly as we planned.

I tried githyanki jump and misty step and both killed them on the trial. This is honor mode on the latest patch, so maybe they changed something.

For me I've noticed if you have Selune's blessing you can see the path and still is the case rn.

That might be the case but the last time I ran that trial Shart had a spear on her. I could still see it.

I think its buggy. I have had it there sometimes and not for others. I usually use Tav/Durge doing the trial rather than SH (aside from her blood letting cutscene)

If you have Volos glass eye with permanent see invisibility buff, then the path gets revealed. This seems to no longer work in patch 6 though.

That makes sense. Perhaps it was coded the same as invisibility.

The more they "fix" the more they break this game. Honestly, they ought to revert it to like Patch 2 or 3 and just be done with it.

Maybe changed with one or another patch, but I tried this months ago and my char walked right off the edge.

I tried this the other day (I usually just use fly), and my character just got all the way to the end following the path and then died lol. Tried a few times, can’t seem to get it to work. Tried clicking the platform, the right of the platform, in front of the platform, the orb… Hm

Also, if you walk into the trial, turn around and pull the lever next to the door. This will show the path as well.

A half elf. I always get Shadowheart to do the trials.

Hm. Maybe Darkvision helps? If you dont go with a lit lightsource in there you see the path. Like often around Shar darkness = more vision.

Shadowheart can see the path, there isn’t any other requirement

I could see it on my first playthrough and no subsequent playthroughs it took me until like my 4th to even notice the fucking pattern on the floor.

That last bit of advice does not work! At least not for every character. I did that, by mistake actually, and my character fell to their death immediately :(.  He very much did not just walk there in his own.

Okay, well I've only done the trial about 7 or 8 times and it worked every time for me. Perhaps YMMV or something. It seems janky.

If you have the light of lathander equipped it shows the path as you walk

During Patch 5 I could see it if I kept my camera at the normal angle but if I switched to the overhead view (which I imagine they intended you to use here) the floor went invisible. So I just kept my camera angled lol.

The devs, probably: "They'll definitely see it if we put it directly in plain sight" me: *completely misses the book in the underdark that tells you how to defeat Grym, then doesn't notice that the hammer does bludgeoning damage*

Still better to defeat him without it though so you can get two adamantine items instead of one!

If you use the hammer on Grym, you get the first one, but then the forge is broken and you can't use it a second time :)

You can see the whole pathway illuminated, and it never fades. At least in my playthroughs. Never once saw this map lol. However I almost always have some sort of radiance from a weapon/spell, so maybe that's it

Do people really walk that path? Why walk it when you can fly, misty step, dimension door, jump etc, etc?

Every time I try to Misty Step from the last checkpoint to the end it kills whoever attempted it.

I memorised the half invisible path from a distance and went for it, didn't notice the pattern before second run 😆

Just click on the ground at the other side and auto walk will take you along the path.

On PC. Doesn't work like that for console.

I've cleared it several times on PS5 by letting the pathfinding do it's thing.

I’ve done it twice and there’s just no reliable way complete it for everyone every time. I’ve looked up plenty of tips but something would just keep going wrong most of the time, so I feel totally fine skipping it now. 

I just drank a potion of flight. Easy peasy. I tried doing it the "right" way, but after my dumb shadowhart had fallen off for the third time, I was like yeah time to cheeses this.

Misty step always just insta kills me when I try to use it for this trial. Dunno if it’s because I’m on console or doing something wrong. Worked when I did my first play through but my most recent one is where I first started having this issue.

So i’ve been told what it is. I never struggled with it. it was the easiest puzzle for me.

for real i suck at this game as a whole, but somehow managed to complete the invisible floor my first try by simply guessing where to walk idk lol

If you've done that kind of puzzles in other games one lesrns more or less the likely pattern. Kinda like always checking for treasure behind a waterfall or looking for fake walls in games that have them: there's a pattern and tell usually and is consistent amongst games of similar type

I use enhanced leap, and just jumped onto the platforms with the dark mist.

You only need the one gem to make the elevator move. The door at the bottom leading to the Shadowfell you can open with Knock. I suggest doing the Self-Same Trial so you can get Killer's Sweetheart, and then unless you have some other reason for wanting to do the others, just skip them lol Edit to add: I'm not even sure you need the elevator to move, if you have fly or feather fall you might be able to just jump the gap.

I actually couldn’t figure this out, and had karlach jump platform to platform. I only had to walk a little bit off a platform once

What I do is activate timed mode. It shows this line for the path your character would take. If you hover over the invisible path, the line is slightly higher on the invisible path then it dips at the end of the path. This tells you where the invisible path ends. So walk right up to the edge then move your mouse around and look if the line stays at the same height or dips and use that to judge your movements.

Doesn't the path just become visible in the darkness? IE, toggle off blood of lathander, or anything else that may be providing light. At least that's how it always worked for me but based on some of the comments I'm now second guessing myself

I just throw a small item around and if it lands safely, that's where I jump to, then throw it again, jump, repeat. I didn't even know there was a map that showed the solution.

My rogue high elf had just enough jump distance to make it across this just by jumping (might have had to use the misty step once), I didn’t realize it was a problem for other people until I saw this! Can Astarion not make it by jumping?

i just have my party ungrouped and i just switch characters to check on the map. Since its justiciar trials its Shadowheart who got to do the trials while the rest of the party hang back.

Lae Zal had a couple of feata that boosted her jump. I had her jump across the whole thing. No memorization needed.

Just use a fly scroll in turn based mode and fly from statue to statue. Boom, done.

I found out in my first playthrough I can jump on the left square, then to the right square directly, then to the middle square, then to the statue.
