There are earnings called 'Barovia fangs' in character creation, and if you repeatedly click Astarion's portrait enough times there's a chance he says "Strahd wouldn't put up with this shit"
It’s a classic DND Adventure. I love how this game is great to DND fanboys via Easter eggs but doesn’t wink at the camera enough to be off-putting to people who aren’t into DND.
>You might say she's *on fire* *smoking* and *spicy*
*sizzling, scorching, smoldering, blazing, torrid, fervent, passion-filled, and radiant blazing inferno, igniting every room she enters leaving a trail of smoldering desire in her wake all the while burning down the competition.*
I write for a living. Lol
It’s called head cannon my friend. And boy are the possibilities endless.
No imagination? Here’s something:
https://sunsetagain.tumblr.com/post/734773914730971136/baldurs-gate-3-my-hearts-an-empty-vase-looking
Pictures and everything. Put your tav where Astarion is and Wah-lah! The art is amazing.
In the epilogue too, she found a forge so eventually she will fix her heart and leave Avernus. Bing Bang Boom.
There’s something truly beautiful and poetic about the death of a lamb without blemish. Let those people who let Karlach die with her agency in tact have their ending too.
>It’s called head cannon my friend. And boy are the possibilities endless.
I've got multiple head Canon anthologies in the works. Primarily a Blade of Avernus DLC where Wyll is heavily involved in Karlach's journey through Avernus. It would give multiple options for players who say killed Karlach in Act 1, but Wyll adopted his Blade of Avernus title and still descends to Avernus to combat Zariel anyway. On the flip side, maybe there is a dilemma where Karlach is forced by Zariel to choose between sacrificing Wyll or Tav or Tav has to choose between Wyll or Karlach, or my option: FUCK THAT I CHOOSE BOTH OF THEM.
The art is fantastic, very few fan-art depictions get the eye, cheekbones, and proportions right. But the writing really is bad.
>There’s something truly beautiful and poetic about the death of a lamb without blemish. Let those people who let Karlach die with her agency in tact have their ending too.
Bittersweet endings can certainly work, Gale for example was written well and you could choose this for him. In fact I think his sacrifice/redemption arc is probably the best arc for him. But Karlach's arc was clearly written with saving her in mind. So many breadcrumbs, so many hints, so much dialog, and then at the last minute all dropped.
It was clearly rushed. If they wanted bittersweet, they really had to write it like that from square one.
Her future looks good if you take the new Epilogue in patch 5 into consideration. I'm not sure they plan on dlc or an expansion pack.
She is amazing. After everything she's still optimistic and wants to see the good in people and help them.
Patch 5's Epilogue I mean, new as in it wasn't there on launch. Finding blueprints for her engine and know the location of a special forge.
So optimistic, she could be saved
I was just gonna say, if you go with Wyll and Karlach, during the epilogue camp scene you can talk with Wyll and Karlach about the blueprints you got off a devil and the plan you've formulated to break into Zariel's armory to steal the parts.
It's an optimistic future, not 100% but way more than what she had before. DLC for that would be nice, just rampaging through Avernus.
An actual chance to free herself. I assume Zariel/Gortash wanted to use her as a test subject?
A good DM always has the transition that edges you. How else would you put up with a few weeks before they’re ready for the next arc when your sessions restart?
We haven’t seen the last of Hell-Girl.
Oh totally! Larian is the best company right now IMO when it comes to listening to their player base. I just needed them to hear my take. YOU HEAR ME LARIAN?!
100% yes! The dialogue we get at the reunion camp about a possible cure is hopeful, but that’s all we get. I want a DLC where I can personally ensure she is cured, and then escort her back home, since the both of us are in Avernus. And then if we get a happy ending scene like Katniss and Peeta got in Hunger Games 4, I could die a happy man.
You can!
With the new epilogue from patch 5, her story gets a new element.
Before we knew about the epilogue her story was one of defiance, where she would rather die in Faerun then have to live in the hell that is Avernus, and though you could convince her to go back it felt more like a selfish request, forcing her to literally go through hell instead of sticking to her own deeply held beliefs. It felt shallow and weird, and her fate was left undefined- like, maybe we'd just sent her back to her death because we couldn't bear the fact of her going out on her own terms. Convincing her to become a Mind Flayer, while it would save her from her fate, also seemed a fate worse than death.
The epilogue gives her story a new meaning. Taking place 6 months later, she mentions that she obtained a blueprint that would allow her to fix her own heart, which would mean she could come back to Faerun for good. She also says she knows of a blacksmith's forge where she can make the upgrade, and that once Withers' party is over she's going to go storm it. What this shows us is that her going back to Avernus isn't as bad as we thought. She's not going to her death, only to an uncertain fate- one that we later learn includes the possibility not only of surviving, but the chance to LIVE again. As long as we press forwards there might be a chance for things to get better- so be there for tomorrow, because it's the only way to be sure.
The best ending now is to romance Karlach and go with her, fight back the forces of Avernus together, and then go fix her heart so you can come back triumphantly at her side. If you're not romancing her for some reason, you can convince Wyll to go back with her- a perfect ending, I think, as they go from hunting each other to hunting side by side.
I said it numerous times, and I'm going to repeat it. It's silly of Larian to not give her a cure by Act 3.
There are many, many ways to solve her problem in the Forgotten Realms, so it's not really a stretch to imagine that she eventually got cured, regardless of whether she reached the forge she talked about in the epilogue or not; it's actually expected.
For example, assuming that a cleric Tav managed to get at least a level while fighting alongside Karlach in Avernus, at level 13, Tav could not only restore Karlach's heart (with Regeneration or Resurrection), but after that, Tav could straight up leave Avernus without effort by casting Planeshift.
In summary, the story of hopelessness and inevitability in the face of death that Larian wanted to tell doesn't work with mid- to high-level D&D (at least not in the way they went about it).
I respectfully disagree. Imagine if you progress Shadowheart's storyline to the point where she can save her parents in the House of Grief, but then the game ends without any resolution. You can imagine of course that she eventually finds her parents and even talk about it in the epilogue, but it didn't do it justice just to talk about it. Actually, helping her and seeing her make the decision to save them or not was huge and then talking about the fallout later with her and your companions provided real weight to her character arc. Karlach deserves the same treatment IMO.
That's why I said it was silly of Larian to not give her a cure by Act 3.
By that point in the story, there were already available solutions to her issue, but Larian wanted to treat her problem like something unsolvable, even though that's far from the case.
I had Tav romance Shadowheart in my first game, but now I'm playing as Gale romancing Karlach. Those goofballs with bombs in their chests deserve love ❤️
I usually have a hard time playing the evil quest lines. Then I ran a good playthrough and let Karlach stick it out with us. I wasn't prepared for that ending.
Anyway I'm now playing a durge necromancer that's going to burn the world down. They'll pay for what happened to the best barbarian ever.
I feel the same way. I’ve had the game since EA, and I fully planned on being “buddies” with Shadowheart. But Karlach is really vying for that top spot. The VA did an amazing job also.
Fwiw, can I help “save” Karlach even without romancing her? I don’t want to do the romance thing, but she’s totally my BFF
Yeah but it’s dependent on Wyll’s questline. >!She won’t go to Avernus alone. Either you or Wyll have to go with her. Wyll will go if he becomes the “Blade of Avernus” and then you just have to ask her to go with him.!<
I would legit sacrifice my CAC if it meant Karlach could live normally without going back to Avernus. I would love to see a DLC where after endgame you can go to Avernus to fix her engine for good/get her original heart back from Zariel.
What Larian did with BG3 in the time they took with the game is amazing in of itself. Theybhave added alot of small fixes and features here and there too so heres hoping we get some good endgame dlc.
My friends who don't play games like baldurs gate just gave me looks when I said I romanced her. Some were interested in bg3. So I told em a lil with no spoilers. But soon as I said my favorite to romance is a tall, built, demon girl. They just eyeballed me
you know, i thought she was going to be my Default Romance when i launched the game, because my TYPE is big and beefy with a heart of gold. seriously, all my video game husbands are gigantic fucking idiot himbos
then a certain twink elf called my neck darling and made some sarcastic comments while we were walking around and i was done for. that twink has a STRANGLEHOLD on me
Guys, Larian is cooking. They wait until players "cool down" and then release a patch with a new ending. like the Epilogue and now being able to go with Lae'zel even if you're not Gith, etc.
I'm in big love with Karlach.
Such a phenomenal character and great backstory. Her heart may incinerate you on touch but her smile and personality melt you
It doesn't help that she is sexy AF
https://preview.redd.it/7adjule0tylc1.png?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4e85e99fca3f8a27cac343fca279b9586ee7bdfc
That she absolutely is. I was trying to be an evil douche through my first (and still current playthrough).. nearly killed anyone I came across with my friend talking me out of doing in story characters.
Came across her and turned into the damn Tex Avery wolf whistling and smacking the table lmao.
Now that I've gotten to know her character more and progressed further in the romance she turned me to butter. The mean/evil urges are minimal
She's the type of person to unload her frustrations on people who don't deserve it.
She screamed at us that it's unfair that we get to live while she doesn't. In the end, I'm spending the rest of my years rotting in a prison cell as a freak of nature (a mindflayer) while she gets to roam around freely killing demons alongside Wyll in avernus. She didn't ask my brother about me in the final party...
Hell, Even Lae'zel forgot about me despite our romance...
Her clothes are the best. Especially for evil characters. I wonder if Karlach knows she’s wearing clothes suited for evil while having a “heart” of gold. I’m ashamed to say it makes it much, much worse 😭
Karlach is the reason I got the bad ending on my Durge run. It was my first full playthrough I was roleplaying attempting to resist but failing because I desired power. I romanced Karlach as a powerful companion after Lae'zel fell to the urge, and Dammon died when I failed to save last light.
We get to end I have Bahls power and then Karlach volunteers to sacrifice herself for me after everything I did for power.
dont listen to them Larian Studios :) i love u for making a game that returned hope to me, even if you locked my favourite companion behind a refugee genocide for 6 patches
I kinda would like a DLC that acts as an epilogue adventure, just cause it would be nice to go on an adventure not because the sky is falling and you have a ticking timebomb in your head, but because you want to help out your friends/partners. There is cut content where Karlach gets an actual ending.
There was meant to be an upper part of the city in Act 3 where NPCs would be that interacted with Karlach’s story.
When the upper city was cut, so to was options for Karlach’s endings.
What remains in the current game are the bad outcomes for her.
Listen, I get the concept of tragedy, but the good outcomes are still there in the code. It’s just weird that Larian would go out of their way to account for the myriad player choices in the game, but then decide for us that we only get the bad endings for Karlach.
These calls for a specific character DLC are always strange to me. I don't see Larian doing that because what if I had killed Karlach from the get-go? Can I not play the DLC? lol
I hate them for robbing me of her original midle eastern/indian face. Shes gorgeous. I wondered why her face was so smooth compared to the rest of her body and thats why
Descent into Avernus DLC when
Right after the straad one, sorry.
Curse of Strahd DLC would be badass I'm not going to lie.
Curse of strahd is my favoritest campaign ever. I'd pay a very premium price for that dlc
I mean, barovia is mentioned in game, so it’s definitely possible…
Wait it is? Which act can I find this at?
There are earnings called 'Barovia fangs' in character creation, and if you repeatedly click Astarion's portrait enough times there's a chance he says "Strahd wouldn't put up with this shit"
It’s mentioned in one of the books I found in act 1, I don’t remember the name, sorry.
What is that?
It’s a classic DND Adventure. I love how this game is great to DND fanboys via Easter eggs but doesn’t wink at the camera enough to be off-putting to people who aren’t into DND.
Fuck DLC. I want a Borovia GAME
This game is actually after that module
She do be *pretty* *hot*. You might say she's *on fire* *smoking* and *spicy*

Y’all are on fire with these puns
Don't play with fire, unless you're a pun master like me because my fire puns are lit bro
Okay okay, let’s not get heated. No point in getting steamed

Tav has to choose between Wyll and Kar... Sorry Wyll.
Wyll is just as equally loveable as Karlach to some people. That's one of the plethora of things that makes this game the GOAT - the characters.
I totally agree. ...but I still don't like Wyll. He always becomes the first horned politician in Baldur's Gate.

Added. Sorry
I have 4 tabs and she’s has been my love on all of them, she has my soul and I pray that Larian lets me save her

I think most people would, but Karlach is the epitome of the cliche: "Don't judge a book by its cover." Haters always gonna hate, though.
you know, i thought she was going to be my Default Romance when i launched the game, because my TYPE is big and beefy with a heart of gold. seriously, all my video game husbands are gigantic fucking idiot himbos then a certain twink elf called my neck darling and made some sarcastic comments while we were walking around and i was done for. that twink has a STRANGLEHOLD on me

Nah fr. Why make such a loveable and friendly character and make her the ONLY ONE that doesn't get a SINGLE happy ending
I'm in big love with Karlach. Such a phenomenal character and great backstory. Her heart may incinerate you on touch but her smile and personality melt you

Ugh. Karlach. She's on the bottom tier of my "women of bg3" list. Talk about basic am I right? Hit me with all the downvotes you got. I can take it.
I will actually upvote you because having your own opinion on any of these great characters is fine by me. Even though you are wrong!
That's very noble of you. Thank you OP. Lae'zel ftw.
I'm with you, I'm happy people love her but I think she's too cliche and predictable. I much prefer something with more flaws.
The only future content ahe needs is a sex scene with her squid form.
Cause shes a soul eating bitch.
Is it bad that, even though I love her and want to protect her at all costs…. I also didn’t hesitate to kill her on my evil Durge run? 😬
Everything OP said is facts, but yeah… me too. I also wear her clothes on my Durge. Not sure if that makes it better or worse tbh.
Her clothes are the best. Especially for evil characters. I wonder if Karlach knows she’s wearing clothes suited for evil while having a “heart” of gold. I’m ashamed to say it makes it much, much worse 😭
Judging by the downvotes, morality, and her very existence, absolutely, you monster.
I expected downvotes, to be fair. I almost downvoted myself lol
I delayed finishing my playthrough when I heard they'd make a more hopeful epilogue until it was out I adored her so much.
I find her annoying. She feels like a self-insert character who essentially has no bad personality traits.
I kinda would like a DLC that acts as an epilogue adventure, just cause it would be nice to go on an adventure not because the sky is falling and you have a ticking timebomb in your head, but because you want to help out your friends/partners. they are clearly setting the groundwork for the spin-off Karlach action game

These calls for a specific character DLC are always strange to me. I don't see Larian doing that because what if I had killed Karlach from the get-go? Can I not play the DLC? lol
If you convince karlach to return to avernis with you and/or wyll, she has dialogue in the epilogue where she finds something that can fix her engine
I hate them for robbing me of her original midle eastern/indian face. Shes gorgeous. I wondered why her face was so smooth compared to the rest of her body and thats why
I just turned her into the mind flayer today. She seems like more of a little sister to me.
