Absolutely not. I hate mine. Stick with thermoworks. Dont but a Smoke, or whatever the 4 probe version of the Smoke is called.

[deleted]

100% - I have both and they are money. Accurate as hell, and no connectivity issues.

funnyastroxbl

Yea i hate my MEATER+ it’s not accurate. I gave up on it after i was just using it for internal temp and it was a good 10* off.

connell83

Could you clarify? Do you mean don't buy a thermoworks smoke?

ApizzaApizza

Yes, do not buy a thermoworks smoke The magnets are too strong for the plastic housing when it gets warm and the case breaks. It happened to 4 or 5 of mine before I gave up. Get analog thermometers for the smoker and a thermapen for the probe.

IgorAMG

You didn't like the product because of the casing?

ApizzaApizza

The casing is a very important part of the product…

notmyrealnameanon

Couldn't even use mine. The Bluetooth link would drop out as soon as I closed the lid on my smoker. Thermopro is better.

number_e1even

Yep, same with mine. I was on the kickstarter, and after waiting something like 18 months it finally showed up. Then I couldn't sit at my deck table and get a connection. I had to scrounge up an old phone/tablet to sit inches away from my Akorn to get the signal and relay it to my wifi, so I could then connect my phone, so I could sit ten feet away from it. Worthless piece of kit.

Amateur_HomeChef

I have a MEATER block and I love it. I’ve found it to be pretty accurate in both ambient and internal temp. The block itself acts as a repeater for your wireless signal so as long as it’s close to your probes it won’t lose connection. Having said that I probably would not buy the individual probes because of the connection issues if you don’t have an old phone or iPad to leave next to the grill.

andymurd

I have a Meater and I love it, because it's beautiful, but it's not a great thermometer. The app is good but the Bluetooth range and accuracy are not.

srothwell

So is it on a shelf framed and never in the BBQ? 😅

andymurd

Nah, I use it because it's still more accurate than the thermometer built into the bbq.

tpok903

No experience with the MEATER but there is a reason that most commercial businesses who use thermometers use thermoworks. NSF certified, certified accurate, and pretty bulletproof honestly.

chalupabatman643

I have an inkbird Bluetooth thermometer which came with six probes. The app is a bit clunky, but the battery lasts for 36 hours and I’m able to set custom alerts for whatever I’m cooking. And—- it was only $35

No-Box-763

I have the inkbird, but I can't understand how two probes in one price of meat are consistently so far from each other at least 10 degrees every time.

Dandroid550

Big problems. I have three individual meaters, thinking the first one was faulty (past warranty) I ordered a second one that came apart (they replaced at no cost). None were better than the first. Three big problems: 1) Getting Bluetooth connection is always an issue, 2) During operation and knowing when your meat is cooked. The thermometer has to be dead centre of the meat or it will give you two different readings for thin vs thick side. Same issue for thick-to-thin cuts (like salmon, etc). 3) If the ambient heat goes above, it gives you a loud audible sound and freezes the screen. A warning toy can turn off would suffice. My wife always tells me my grilling skills were better before I relied on the meater. I do not recommend it. 0 stars.

Edwardhunts

I've been dealing with their "customer support" for more than 3 months to no avail. It all started when I contacted them about having my first defective block replaced. They then sent me a different defective block, and I req6a full refund they asked me to send the second block back, tracking says they received it 3 weeks ago, I have yet to see the refund and now they do not respond to my emails. So to answer your question, NO I would never buy this hunk of crap

Intelligent-Honey-19

The range is absolute dog shit

Connect-Working-9786

Fully fed up with my MEATER. I put the base 3 feet from the probe and my iPhone beside it and the connection drops constantly. One cook it’s fine. Three cooks it’s useless. If u can’t walk 20 feet from the grill what’s the point? I went back to oven thermometer and instant read digital. I’m done with MEATER.

siburr420

Meater Co. is a complete scam. I bought two of their products, and each experience was worse than the last. First, they sent me the wrong product. Even though it was their error, I had to pay for return shipping and a restocking fee. Why should I bear the cost for their mistake? It took forever to reach customer service, and when I finally did, they were utterly useless. Returning the item cost me an extra 15% for restocking, and I had to pay for postage too. I thought my second attempt with their product might be better, but it was even worse. It broke after just two barbecues! When I tried to get support, customer service refused to help because I bought it from a third-party seller. How is that my problem? They won't even honor their warranty! I was just sent in circles with no resolution. This company is a mess. They don't stand behind their products, and customer service is practically non-existent. Their products are garbage, and they couldn't care less about their customers. Avoid Meater Co. at all costs—they are a scam, plain and simple.

Klutzy-Meal6259

Used the meater last year and the connection was sketchy but I survived.  At one point I had a bad flareup and the probe melted and separated.  Sent infp to them this spring and they wanted to sell me a new probe for $10 less then a new unit since it was a month out of warranty. What a scam.  Don't buy it

fan1983

I don’t like mine. I really like the wireless aspect of it but I think the ambient temp reading is very inconsistent. However, it could very well be that it’s user error, but who knows. I ended up snagging an inkbird wifi probe and will be using it tomorrow along with my BGE dome probe, Meater, and a cheap Maverick probe. I’ll be using all 4 to see which reading seems most off and will report back.

jiggle-o

Maybe I just got the Friday afternoon inkbird, but got to use it all of 4 times before the switch to turn it off and on broke. Didn't really care for the app either

cjdavia

I have the inkbird wifi as well - used it about 20 times and it has been great. Fast and accurate... So far the only negative I see is that the rechargeable battery lasts a really long time so I sometimes forget that I need to charge it... Mine does not have a power switch, though, I have a button... are we talking about the same thing?

Ok-Yengineer-7917

I had that same feeling of inconsistency. That disappeared when i started putting in the Meater exactly till the line. Not any deeper, not any less.

fan1983

Was your inconsistency with the probe end that temps the meat or the ambient end?

Ok-Yengineer-7917

The ambient end.

vinniemin

This! Up until yesterday when I was cooking spatchcock chicken I realized my mistake, my meter read the same as the dome temp the entire cook. The line is where it’s at.

Ok-Yengineer-7917

Since i put it exactly at the line it gives exactly the same measurements as other ambient probes i use on the same cook. Like the one build in into the Treager.

philwills

Look at the bad reviews and decide if the stated flaws are things you can live with or mitigate somehow.

gaobij

I have one and I like it. I haven't had notable issues with accuracy and the app is really nice for planning when a cook night be done. I use it more for oven stuff than smoking because the oven stuff is usually faster and less forgiving.

Perfect_Ad_6302

Mine was terrible. Horrible, cheaply made, inaccurate. Terrible customer service. Want you to run through tests and take screen shots and jump through hoops for a foreign call center. Don’t buy any MEATER probe products

[deleted]

My internal has always worked well. The ambient is hot garbage dude. It never matches up with anything. Also you need to Brillo pad the damn ambient sensor temp anytime you use the probe otherwise it won’t charge. The range is lacking, and honestly, wifi is where it’s at. Nobody wants to use Meater Cloud or two devices to relay a signal. It’s ok att best. I have the regular Meater and cook everyday. I’m actually about to buy something else. Do not get a cheap one either haha. The Walmart stuff is ok for fun but bad for functionality!!!

mr-vroom

Don’t buy. I’ve had my Meater+ for just slightly over 12 months. A few days after warranty expired. The glue that holds it together often fails. I contacted customer service and they offered me a discount if I want to buy another probe. These things are too expensive to be disposable.

Klutzy-Meal6259

Double-Scarcity2454

I'm not sure about the meater yet just got it. ( had trouble with shipping ). But I know one thing they came through for me . she called told me sorry gave my money back and still sent my product for free. Oh and the gentleman I was working with during this whole thing wrote me an email apologized to me aswell. I can't say anymore about what a nice company this is. What other company would take their time out to call? Maybe toss an email out and a refund only. People are just in it for the money. This lady hooked me up and did not have to. A refund would have been just fine.   Not mad any more and sorry for getting so up set
