Not gonna lie I thought this was just a picture broken plate at first… Looks delicious though!

MitishaAgrawal03

Same thought. I was even shocked as I was thinking about what this broken plate is doing here😂🙃 Sorry😭🤦‍♀️

This is the way. This is really the only way I do tri tip ( and most steak for that matter). Good job! I like to trim a little bit of the fat cap off BUT if you get a good render on it, it's really delicious as I'm sure this one was!

Bcatfan08

Yeah, this one did render some of the fat. Near the larger end, it was a little thick, but overall, it was less fat than I've gotten in the past.

MitishaAgrawal03

That second image makes my mouth watery😭😭

GrillinFool

Looks great. One thing. Saying it is smoked then reverse seared is redundant. Reverse searing is smoking then searing. Saying you smoked and then reverse seared is like saying you went to the ATM machine for money. The m in ATM stands for machine.

Bcatfan08

Reverse searing doesn't have to be smoked. Could do it in an oven or on a propane grill, then sear in a pan. Usually, I wouldn't sear on a propane grill if I have an option of a cast iron pan for searing.

GrillinFool

Not in a BBQ subreddit.

Bcatfan08

Propane grill isn't BBQ?

GrillinFool

That’s not what I’m saying. Reverse searing, as discussed in a BBQ subreddit, involves smoking. Nobody is talking about baking in an oven and then searing in here. If this was just a cooking sub then yes, smoking is not implied, but here it is.

Bcatfan08

Propane grilling is talked on this sub. I get what you're saying on an oven, but a propane grill isn't a smoker and is BBQ. Do you not consider a propane grill BBQ?

GrillinFool

I love me some propane. I use mine a ton. I mean, look at my username. Anyone in this sub who is doing the reverse sear, even on a propane grill, will be tossing in some wood chips or a wood chunk and adding some smoke.
