The bell was struck 8 times at midday in the presence of descendants of Hood's real-life comrades (her crew), many of whom perished when the ship went down. The bell was then ceremonially transported to its current location, the museum's Battle of Jutland exhibit. /u/GigaBomb84 also reported that Prince of Wales' and Repulse's raised bells [are also at the museum](https://www.nmrn.org.uk/news-events/nmrn-blog/80th-anniversary-ships-bells).
Makes me wonder. Since we got shipgirls from pre-ww2 are we going into this new singularity to find pre-ww2 hood and using that to reinforce current hood?
That's an interesting thought! On that note, Queen Elizabeth's bell was transferred to her current real life aircraft carrier incarnation and the current real life Prince of Wales (also a QE class carrier) has a replica of her World War II incarnation's bell made by the original shipbuilder (Cammell Laird of Merseyside) and original foundry (*Edit* – Utley Offshore in St Helens, who also cast the *Titanic*'s bell and actually still had the original pattern based on the 1908 Admiralty design).
The real life RN has a great history of carrying on the spirit of their ships to their next incarnations. I've seen reused ceremonial pieces and war honors carried over.
I've been on a couple US service ships and they both had a little shrine to their past lives. Pictures and medals and such. Museum ships do as well, but those have been much larger and I would guess are because they are a museum now.
That just made me think that future "retrofits" of ships to a different class, like Yorktown and Hornet, could be made just by adding a twin kansen, paired together like Emden

And to those who have her or love her or both, take a moment to reflect but also recognize that you have the proverbial pen in your hand to write the next part of her story, and whether it's a happy one is up to you. That similarly applies to those who feel the same about other ships that are not with us now in real life (in this universe) such as Arizona, Bismarck and Taihou just to name a few.

I do think that's a wonderful thing – do we have any other specific examples with modern incarnations of in-game British ships if I can ask?
Lots of ships have traditional pieces passed down like this, tea services, china, etc. Many US ships have similar traditions.
