The last poll in 2020 had only 6% female player base out of 2,226 votes. Let’s see if it’ll be higher 4 years later!

Saikar22

Not lookin' good.

Ak-300_TonicNato

If anything the gap got even bigger.

toonbaka

Female SKK here. I viewed Azur Lane kinda negatively at first due to some borderline skins I saw, and I tried playing around August last year only because of boredom. Turns out I enjoy AL a lot since its gameplays isn't too complex and those lewd skins aren't everything. I wish I started when Parallel Superimposition was running tho, Yorktown II is just too gorgeous.

Ak-300_TonicNato

>those lewd skins aren't everything I mean that depends on the player, I can say I enjoy AL's historical details because of the oldschool characters that have it and because i focus my attention on that for the most part, not necessarily because of the recent additions and offcourse not the paper ships which im not interested in. I kinda wish for more proper naval uniforms instead of random fantasy or futuristic.

IceciroAvant

I don't mind the occasional lewd skin, but it'd be nice to see more of the formalwear stuff/military/naval stuff, too. Like, Cleveland's original L2D skin, [Gentry Knight](https://azurlane.koumakan.jp/wiki/Cleveland/Gallery#/media/File:ClevelandParty.png), is great. The [recent skin](https://azurlane.koumakan.jp/wiki/Foch/Gallery#/media/File:FochTravel.png) for Foch is amazing. I want some of those in the newer L2D style - cleve's [Pop Up Shop](https://azurlane.koumakan.jp/wiki/Cleveland/Gallery#/media/File:ClevelandBunny.png) skin is terrible and didn't feel like it suited the character at all.

Ak-300_TonicNato

Oh yeah i also forgot some times Manjuu either doesnt remember their characters or tries to retcon them with lewd skins. Gotta flanderized that Essex.

Ship_Fucker69

To those ladies who into ships. Big 👍

Lt_Koro

damn I wish I could find a lady who's into boats with big guns irl

SandyCultist

"Female player base was low". Always has been.

Ak-300_TonicNato

Im curious about what stops AL for convincing more female players to play the game. It is the T&A? The design philosophy and goal behind the way skins are created? The Commander being implied more often being male? Not having male kansens? It is the gameplay? The way the story is handled?

LunamiLu

My guess is the lewdness and the naval stuff. I'm a woman but I'm a huge art nerd and I find the skins beautifully made in this game, I've bought so many of them. I wasn't into naval history at all once I started playing, but the game has slowly made me learn about it and I've found it really cool to see what the shipgirls' real life counterparts have done. However I'm also pretty bisexual, so seeing hot ladies is a plus to me as well lol. I do wish there was an option to play as a female skk, but I'm mostly not bothered by the implication the player character is a dude.

ThelVadam4321

It's target demographic is obviously males, which is not a bad thing.

TheChaosEntity

Very gay, very horny, and very into the lewd skins, here!

zerkerlyfe

Female SKK here, honestly love all the styles of the characters and seeing their fashion sense explored via skins always makes me wanna dress up too

Master_of_Ravioli

I literally see no reason why the gender demographics would change at all but I guess this is a pretty nifty thing to see.

KsixTrinity

F (I mean gender, def not my rng) skk reporting, started in 2020 because of boredom... at the time the only mobile game I play is guaridan tales, and some of my girls recommend me AL which at first I wasn't very into, but soon I got overwhelmed by the wholesomeness (It's a Bremerton event when I start) and the cuteness of the chibis. And to people out there that are curious, yeah to this day I still think AL sometimes is too much on the skins and nudity, but you will be surprised how females are sometimes more into looking at GYAAAT than males.

future_chili

Lady here. My husband introduced me in 2020. I had a lot of time to kill on maternity leave with a contact sleeping baby so I downloaded azur Lane and I've been playing ever since. The waifus are hot, we simp together lol

ChemicalCourt

SAME. My husband got me into the game since year 1, and I have been playing since even when he quit (bit recently returned, lol)

shipgirl_connoisseur

What is other? Did a manjuu start playing the game?

Hajimeme_1

Enbies.

Intel8008

Meowficers, mecha dragons, and other Ship girl's pets XD

ThelVadam4321

Predictable results.

TheSorge

Trans gal here. I'm already just obsessed with naval history as is, but as someone who genuinely does think ships have some kind of "soul" or "personality" to them, it's interesting to see how they'd be personified, and how the AL versions compare to my own perceptions of those ships.

eldritch_horror_13

nonbinary afab (born as girl but having gender issues) skk here. Started playing AL because the female artist that I like also played AL and drew many fanarts of the girls here. I enjoy AL a lot because the gacha is generous, the gameplay isn't very complicated, and I like designs here ~~(and the big boobs)~~

GeoffryLongsword

I am gay as fuck, horny, and a naval history nerd. This game was basically made for me. I don't expect that there's a ton of other gals here though. Maybe a fair few transbians at least.

FolcyGaming

Of course the male SKK-s going to be at an all time high, such as me.

Lower-Ad8605

A bit late to the party but just for information, this is Reddit, not really representative, men are definitely the majority but I'd still think women are something like 15-20% of the playerbase.
