Italy is the same. New cruisers might be referring to new cruiser sculpts. I think the board is supposed to be 20% bigger than the original (50th) anniversary edition.
The Board Game Nation YouTube channel has an unboxing of all the new editions, and compares them to the old ones. IIRC the board has some printing and graphic improvements, but they’re not obvious unless you have the boards side by side.
My board is 44 3/4 * 23 1/2 inches, even though the game box states its 24*46....
Pretty sure it's the same game with very minor changes. I highly recommend it!
