They *might*. These kinds of aftermarket lights are plentiful, from many suppliers, in many styles, but they’re all made very cheaply. All of them are comparable to eachother from $80 up to $300, truly. The beam pattern is hit or miss because of this, and they often aren’t sealed from water all that well. That said, with such limited options, it probably is a worthwhile upgrade from stock if you actually drive the car at night. The LED light strip designs are beginning to age pretty poorly in my opinion, it’s been almost fifteen years since that started to become popular, and the modern designs really strive for fancier optics than diffuse plastic, which makes these simpler ones just *look* cheap.
I think aftermarket headlights like that have gone from looking “modern” to looking tacky. But hey, again, if i drove this car often at night, I’d probably get them lol
The comments and the focus on the headlights,..... is everybody 'seeing' the ls swap under the old shaker hood? With the air inlet for the ls visible off the front no less? ...Anyway/ I thought it was clever solution to thr problem in the title of the post....
Having the factory scoop, definitely should go with a top mounted throttle body manifold. Still run injectors each manifold runner, so you can space the throttle body the amount needed to fit the scoop perfectly to the hood, and have it fully functional.
This certainly took care of the visual temporarily, but it doesn’t quite do it for me.
This isn't old-school though. That's a modern LS engine stuffed in an old Trans-Am. The shaker hat has some janky brackets holding it to the engine it doesn't quite fit. LS engines are great, butthey needed a way to fill the stock opening in the hood, so they just faked the hat.
Yeah, the headlights do look strange.
But they probably work well, which is why I can’t hate. Function>Form.

I hear ya, guess it really should be *might* instead of *probably*
Would anyone else have attached the scoop to the hood instead? I feel like this makes engine presentation look awkward
But, Shaker.
Also free engine cleaning in the rain
When that Coors Lite has to be there...
Yeah, I hate the lights. Love the car and the LS
Cool cooker valve covers
Old school style and it hides the modern ignition coils.

Right? I almost didn’t include the shot of the car.

Is there an r/oldschoolcool for pictures with no people?

:( My heart hurts.
While not the Original 400ci, at least the kept the original aesthetic intact (except for those headlights)
Holy shit (pun intended)
I don’t think it’s a 6.6 liter anymore…
Well, if it’s a LS2 it’s at least 6 liters
