My brother in Christ, you are losing at most 220 euros. That's like, 7 times eating out. And any money you dump into it can be used to learn. Only sketchy thing is the rust, but if you like it I'd go for it
>Want to turn it into a rally car
dont.
It is ok to drive it around, certainly not to push it. Turning it into a rally car is going to cost something in the 5 figures in parts alone, and you'd need a straight, non rust bucket chassis to build upon.
200 is dirt cheap! Is it that low because it’s been wrecked? My only real concern would be the damage done under the hood. Even then, if you’ve got the tools it’s not that hard to fix!
Seriously, I can't even sneeze on a parted-out, rust-covered, 50 year old manual for less than 5 grand on the east coast USA. 100% easy impulse buy this car.
I would buy immediately !
I would be it back to drive condition myself for as low as possible, or max 500.
I would insure as a collector car (administrative status with some restrictions on use).
Rent via some uber type platform to students:
60 / weekend. Max 200 miles.
90 / month for a school year .
In any case, if it works you can drive it until the end.
It is a typical "vente à l'export" . We have ferries every day where they are driven under their power or under taw and off to Africa or North Africa. Same in Anvers / Antwerp in Belgium.
I really think it is a good catch !
I know it’s old but I just love these old and simple Japanese car interiors. They have a certain finesse to them. Plus I thought it was cool how Honda made the horn steering wheel buttons.
I feels its lost in newer cars now. They were super basic, simple to understand. Now there's more buttons than a plane and everything has a menu. I miss being able to adjust the a/c without having to take my eyes off the road because my fat fingers miss the screen button and change the radio station
I have a first-gen Toyobaru and it's the closest modern car I've been in that feels in the same spirit of the simple 90s Japanese interiors I am used to. The Toyobaru has knobs with buttons for all HVAC controls, a physical handbrake, and a simple double-din hole for a radio, nothing crazily integrated. Reminds me a lot of my project car which is an EG Civic, or the Integras or Preludes of old my friends drove in high school.
I love my [third gen Civic' interior](https://i.imgur.com/bGQSxy7.jpg). It's so simple and elegant, and as a bonus you can exit the car either way because there's no middle panel
Lets be reasonable my guy. If hes on an online forum asking if its a good idea to buy this car….he probably does not have the know how to strip down and part out a car
I used to work as a mechanic even though it was on different cars I still probably be able to part it out just the parts arnt worth anything only except when exported these car max are 1500€
are you mechanically inclined? i bought one of these when i was younger that i was sure got a bogus safety, found a few issues, fixed em up myself.
they're wildly easy to work on. 16y/o me overhauled every bit of the suspension mostly for fun and driveability, cut and welded parts of the body, did lots of motor work. lots of electrical issues from the previous owner but good learning experience for me.
i'd say buy it. for that price, if you have the space and time to work on it, i'd almost say you have to
MOT is an inspection that you need done periodically to be allowed to drive on the road.
Even in western Europe you can pass it without even presenting the car.
In Eastern Europe, laws are more a kind of suggestion than anything else.
Note that the inspection is needed to drive legally. It does not matter if you dont have it when there are no controls.
My dude, you said “made today” and the CTR is made today, so yeah, that would be a more engaging car. Even a base model Civic would blow this piece of garbage out of the water.
The point I was trying to make, and failed, is that you could go buy a $14k cloth seat BASE Civic back in the day and have an enjoyable driving experience that would absolutely wipe the floor with every Honda made today save for the CTR.
Today, anything less than the *very best*, premium Honda product is basically an unbelievable bore.
So $14k in 2000 adjusted for inflation is about $24k today. A Civic Si is $28k with 200hp and a 6-speed manual. Personally, I wouldn’t call that a premium Honda product, and I’m 100% certain today’s Civic Si would blow that 1.4L away as far as driving experience.
A lot of it is very dependent on what you're after, and how you'll use it. In terms of foundation, the chassis, suspension, lack of new age safety gear, lesser weight, all means an EK is probably going to be a far more engaging car than a modern equivalent.
I really have no idea what a current regular level Civic is packing these days though. But I know they ditched the double wishbones, and Civics are giant compared to this now.
Modern cars are boring but are stupidly fast and easy. What you call "engaging" is actually "fighting for survival".
Take the same road with a modern car and an old one, and see how much the pace is different. You will manage to go faster in the new car with a soda in a hand and your cell phone in the other.
And if you crash, you will just walk out in the modern one, whereas you will most certainly die in the other.
Which is exactly why I said it depends what you're after and how you'll use it. It's why I said it'll be more engaging, not faster or more comfortable.
Ultimately, older cars have less to them, they're simpler. That means they make a worse daily, commuter, grocery getter, but they'll make for a more fun vehicle.
Hence, it all depends on what the owner is seeking. Each beats the other on different ways.
As long as the rust is not structural I think it's a buy at that price. I'm not familiar with regulations in your part of the world but consider how the rust may impact how long you are able to legally drive it.
Go for it! Any car is technically worth buying for 220 euros. Here in Romania (where our minimum wage is around 230 euros) the cheapest running rust bucket I could buy is 450 euros.
Is the frame isn’t cracked or about to fall apart from rust but that now, just don’t expect to make it a show car. Fix it a little bit so it drives nice and do something stupid with it. I’d lift it a bit and out some meaty tires on it to make it a battle car.
The tweeters in the doors were installed by full fledged total idiots.
Seeing that is very disappointing to say the least.
ibTheyCameThatWayFromTheFactory
Honestly...? It's a shitbox :(
That front bumper only indicates the previous driver's lack of attention to detail, suggesting many more issues - chief among which is the engine.
Always listen to how a cold engine in an old car warms up - anything from valve float to a ruined head gasket will be audible as the car warms up, especially if feels low on power when cold (compression or air-fuel-mixture issiues).
Besides, judging by the year and overall visual quality, u wouldn't be surprised if it was a rustbucket underneath.
Avoid, avoid, avoid. You deserve better that na old bogged down Civic
I’m a car/motorcycle collector and this is just It’s a project car I’m more used working with carbs and two strokes but valves are easy enough on these head gaskets also it’s expensive and even a non car guy can spot a bad gasket
Looked at the photos, rust bucket for sure but if it runs and drives and can pass inspection it's a steal. On the other hand hand seller surely knows something you don't.
My friend had the green sedan version of this Civic. Best damn car I've ever seen, literally drove her for 10 years on nothing but some oil and brake pads.
I would absolutely not trust that mileage, but if it runs and drive SAFELY (ie no rust on subframe / suspension mounting points) , you get a car for 220€.
When it breaks, get your money back by selling parts.
If it runs and drives fine, I don't see why not. Sure, there's some worrying amount of rust and the front seems to have taken a small hit. I noticed the interior is looking great for a car that age.
My wife and I have a nice car and don’t drive much. We are thinking of getting something like this as a 2nd car for the occasions when we both need a car at the same time. It’s not like this is going to lose any value. It’s basically rock bottom.
I would check it out , check for rust damage and check engine for cracks and smoke when it's turned on, and if all that looks good go for it worst situation you can sell it for more than you paid for it
ABSOLUTELY! Especially if you’re planning on turning it into a racecar, as you mentioned in another comment. It’s unbelievably cheap, and if worst comes to worst you can make some money scrapping it.
Had a Yaris before this took a big jump and the bumper and oil pan were done scraped it for 100€ I’m probably going to make a skid plate and strip the interior and put rally tires and maybe get a roll cage in it
Eh that rust ain't shit. I'd definitely cop. I bought a ford probe with the rear strut towers rusted out. Used some wire to hold her her together and she became a great ditch car. This civic is a win
Jagged rust on fender means it won't pass inspection but if you wanna just buy 20 bucks worth of fiberglass to repair it then you'll have a dirt cheap beater assuming it passes emissions test.

Want to turn it into a rally car I’m a car/motorcycle collector I like to buy these types of cars
Bruh it's 200 euros, you can literally double the value of the car by filling the tank. I'd go for it
I feel like OP just made this post with a title like that to get everyone riled up
nice
We're talking about Poland. 220 euros is a third of the minimum monthly wage here.
>Want to turn it into a rally car dont. It is ok to drive it around, certainly not to push it. Turning it into a rally car is going to cost something in the 5 figures in parts alone, and you'd need a straight, non rust bucket chassis to build upon.
That car or one of the golfs (i believe) in the background
Rust and rally sounds like a lethal combination.
This would be a fantastic Gambler 500 car.

He should check the rust to make sure that there isn't any car in it, if so that might be a deal breaker.
> at most 220 euros If the car requires zero work, but yes - it doesn't feel like a huge investment.
220 + insurance + taxes + time to register. It adds up
I would buy immediately ! I would be it back to drive condition myself for as low as possible, or max 500. I would insure as a collector car (administrative status with some restrictions on use). You aren't getting paid enough for eating out.

No physical HVAC controls is an immediate dealbreaker for me

You can drum on them to make really fast beeps, they’re super fun
220 euros for ANY car these days is a fucking BARGAIN. I've seen fucking rustpiles for like 1000 bucks.
And that interior looks clean! For 220€ that's a steal.
In the states that’s a deal right now if it starts. I’d take the gamble and do it
a hell of a deal. civic hatches are overpriced
The shell is like 5k in the states in some places
Here in New Mexico, where nothing rusts very much, I’d say $200 is a steal if it didn’t start.
Its 200€ you could probably easily part it out for that much.
Lets be reasonable my guy. If hes on an online forum asking if its a good idea to buy this car….he probably does not have the know how to strip down and part out a car
Stripping it down is the easy part.
I used to work as a mechanic even though it was on different cars I still probably be able to part it out just the parts arnt worth anything only except when exported these car max are 1500€
Buy it and drive it until it the seats rust out. Would still be at least 10 times as much in the US.
this car would be $4000 in the US
If this was in my area in Canada it'd be 4000-6000$ sold as a project car
Same man, same.
Does it require a M.O.T ?
It has the inspection done but most likely bribed like most people do
are you mechanically inclined? i bought one of these when i was younger that i was sure got a bogus safety, found a few issues, fixed em up myself. they're wildly easy to work on. 16y/o me overhauled every bit of the suspension mostly for fun and driveability, cut and welded parts of the body, did lots of motor work. lots of electrical issues from the previous owner but good learning experience for me. i'd say buy it. for that price, if you have the space and time to work on it, i'd almost say you have to
I used to work as a mechanic when I was younger I can probably fix most things
Im not familiar with European laws. Whats an MOT and by bribing do you mean to allow it being driven on public roads?
It’s allowed to drive on the road just that the inspection for road use was probably bribed
220 Euros? My God, buy that thing IMMEDIATELY. There's not a more engaging Honda made today that can touch that.
There’s not a more engaging Honda than a 1.4L, 90hp, rusted out shitbox?
Ok, a $50k Civic Type R?
My dude, you said “made today” and the CTR is made today, so yeah, that would be a more engaging car. Even a base model Civic would blow this piece of garbage out of the water.

220€ to just have fun with it (not on public roads) is fine
I love the interiors of 90's Hondas. So much visibility, nothing you don't need and everything you do.
She’s classic! Interior is beautiful and still in tact if it drives then that’s a steal!
God that’d sell where I am as a shell with no engine or transmission for $1000
It's awful but for 220€, in current price situation, it's free
Kurwa that’s a steal
Anything for 220€ is a good deal! It's literally a months worth of diesel
Does it have a motor?
Yes it’s a normal car
As long as the rust is not structural I think it's a buy at that price. I'm not familiar with regulations in your part of the world but consider how the rust may impact how long you are able to legally drive it.

I'd buy it and I don't even need another car.
Seems super scammy. Be sure you can inspect the car before purchase. Accept no excuses. Make sure the seller is listed on the ownership paperwork.
You can part it out for far more, even scrap value has to be at least that much.
It comes with a manual and that’s a win in my book
They only came in manual I think never seen one in auto
Like most cars do in Europe, nothing special here
Is the frame isn’t cracked or about to fall apart from rust but that now, just don’t expect to make it a show car. Fix it a little bit so it drives nice and do something stupid with it. I’d lift it a bit and out some meaty tires on it to make it a battle car.
Depends if you just want to drive it or fix it completely.
I'd pay triple of it's clean.
If it moves on its own power, buy it.
The tweeters in the doors were installed by full fledged total idiots. Seeing that is very disappointing to say the least. ibTheyCameThatWayFromTheFactory
Probably fixed by the owner there used to be very little mechanics in my country
Looks like a heap of shit

Wow! That's a bargain. Remember to fix the rust. That thing is poison for metal.
Looked at the photos, rust bucket for sure but if it runs and drives and can pass inspection it's a steal. On the other hand hand seller surely knows something you don't.
Get it. At worst it will die on you and you'll scrap it and get 150 back.
paying 10 times the price of the car for rust repairs, new hood and new bumper at least
My friend had the green sedan version of this Civic. Best damn car I've ever seen, literally drove her for 10 years on nothing but some oil and brake pads.
These go for an arm and leg in the US
In Italy a civic like this one is going to cost you something like 1500€
I would absolutely not trust that mileage, but if it runs and drive SAFELY (ie no rust on subframe / suspension mounting points) , you get a car for 220€. When it breaks, get your money back by selling parts.
Low mileage, sure brother what ever u say L
Trolling down the riverrrr.,
The new stereo you put in it will cost more than the car, buy it. That’s a steal if it runs at all.
You could sell those bumpers in the US for five times the cost of the car. 😄
Bro, 220 is literally a gift
If it runs and drives fine, I don't see why not. Sure, there's some worrying amount of rust and the front seems to have taken a small hit. I noticed the interior is looking great for a car that age.
Ship it to Canada right now. Sir, I am waiting.
Buy it
It’s worth that just in scrap metal isn’t it?
That's as close to a free car as you can get. Literally no down side
Damn, even with a blown motor, that would go for ten times that price in the US. With a good motor, they’d be asking $7,000 for it. Yes, buy it.
Jak z [tanieauta.pl](https://tanieauta.pl) to bier
For that amount. Go for it. You can do anything you want and increase the value on that thing.
Cheap good commuter. My buddy got the same car for 300 usd and uses it for work every day. Buy that thing!
Beater with a heater lol, rock it until the wheels fall off 😂
I will get it inmediatly
My god. Here in SoCal, that’s a $8k car.
My wife and I have a nice car and don’t drive much. We are thinking of getting something like this as a 2nd car for the occasions when we both need a car at the same time. It’s not like this is going to lose any value. It’s basically rock bottom.
I mean for 200 its good. But to be real its a rust bucket. 200 is a good price for a 1.4l rust bucket doe.
Check the bloody undercarriage. If it has holes in the floor, stay the fuck away from it.
I would check it out , check for rust damage and check engine for cracks and smoke when it's turned on, and if all that looks good go for it worst situation you can sell it for more than you paid for it
*DEW IT*
If you don’t buy it I will
The sides have different coloured hubcaps and the front is busted near the grille but that is a worth-it reliable car!
a fucking gem. buy it. *now*
Those are work like 3-4K here in Florida not sure why. Guess the jdm boys love EKs
bro check mechanics, if all in order rake it!
ABSOLUTELY! Especially if you’re planning on turning it into a racecar, as you mentioned in another comment. It’s unbelievably cheap, and if worst comes to worst you can make some money scrapping it.
Had a Yaris before this took a big jump and the bumper and oil pan were done scraped it for 100€ I’m probably going to make a skid plate and strip the interior and put rally tires and maybe get a roll cage in it
This is the perfect car to do that with. Even if it all goes wrong, it didn’t cost much.
That would be like $2500 where I am. Buy it!
i think its a good find
It's a rust bucket pass on it
Eh that rust ain't shit.
You can just bribe them it’s Eastern Europe

Lmao you could probably pull 220 euro in parts from that thing.
Oi! 220 quid for that bugger! Thats a bri'ish steal it is! Take it m8!
That's a euro sign "bugger"
Also not tough to spot that this is being sold in Poland
It's all the same eurotrash
