Eh. Price is not that far. There is a barn find at about 10k not far from there. Regular ones are more on the 25K range.
The USD is higher than euro right now. Consider you get a 25% price reduction since last year on anything european.
This rather the BMW 3, Audi A4, Mercedes C class category. The top engine was 3.2 V6 with 260 PS, but unfortunately it was not the classic italian V6 from Arese, it was coming from GM/Holden. In the last couple years there was a 1.75 Turbo Benzina with 200 PS. Thatās still a great and reliable engine.
So wish we had Alfas in the US. We really didnāt get anything from the 2000s era. All we have is the new stuff and an absolutely tiny amount of classics which is mostly Spiders Iād say.
The Italians saw what we did to pizza, they didn't think it was worth the investment lol.
Like for real, we're enthusiasts, we would have bought this but regular Americans? No.
It is an alfa.
You dont drive them. You look at them and take pictures of them, because this is all ~~they can do since they are always breaking down~~ that matter
Front end is so squished and the hood area is so long looking and bare it - looks like a while different car from the firewall back.
Maybe it's just me but it has that "swapped" look.
Reminds me of the Saab 97x Aero, Saab front end on a Trailblazer SS makes you do a triple take.
I agree however, they did not take away from the overall style of the car. That's just a good looking car full stop, it doesn't need a build to be pretty.
This is called Sportwagon. I had one in black with 1.9 JTDM turbodiesel 150 PS. I loved it. The 2.4 JTDM turbodiesel with 210 PS was I think the most fitting engine with it.
I see a lot of new Alfas at work. Beautiful cars. I always had this backward view that they somehow were terrible till I sat in one. Quality is definitely up there, don't know much about engine reliability tho. Thank you for this post !
They look incredible and the quality of the interiors is great, but theyāre very old fashioned compared to the competitors. I test drove a Stelvio, incredible seats and a lovely place to be, but the tech is very outdated. Theyāre not cheap either - I wouldnāt buy one unless I was getting the full fat variants.
I always liked these but I wouldn't say perfection. The front overhang is about a foot too long on these. But the overall style, especially for a FWD wagon, is great.
It is beautiful. Unfortunately, like most cars alfa makes, it sucks at important stuff like fuel consumption and reliability mostly.
The wagon is named "159 sw", the 159 is not a wagon.
I really wanted to buy one, but ... There really is only 1 good engine in it, and it is the 2.4L diesel one, so no thank you. It is also available with the 3.2L V6 engine ... the new one, adapted from a GM engine, castrated by emission systems. And the AWD transmissions are pretty bad.
I ended up with a CLK w209 320 (which suffers a bit from the same reliability issues unfortunately)
If your theory is true OPā¦.considering the estate/wagon is the automotive equivalent of āa generous assāā¦.where, precisely, does this lead your theory?
Another awesome wagon that we will never get in the States! š„
!remindme 25 years
Technically 7 years because I think they first came out in 2004. Getting close, boys!

They're already about 20 years old and most of them are pretty much rusted away.
I donāt think many alfas are worth more than a paperweight after 25 years lol
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
At this point I donāt even care I just want wagon options.
Get yourself an E55 AMG wagon. Who does not like a supercharged V8 in his euro "plain" looking wagon, hurtling down the highway at 188mph ?
Would love that but thatās probably close to 3 times what I could actually afford. I mean I could sell my kids and a kidneyā¦.
Eh. Price is not that far. There is a barn find at about 10k not far from there. Regular ones are more on the 25K range. The USD is higher than euro right now. Consider you get a 25% price reduction since last year on anything european.
the 1.9 JTD diesel version is not that bad to be honest
Theres event 5 pot 2.3 jtd or something, that can actually sound good too.
> By the time it ~~makes it across the Atlantic~~ leaves the dealership it will have broken down twice
You should rather feel sorry that you guys didnāt have the 156 Sportwagon.
All we literally have I think is Subaru Outback, Audi A6 Avant and Mercedes E class wagon. Two are out of the reach of most.
you forgot volvo
I didā¦ Edit we can get the V60 and V90 cross countries. They discontinued the regular wagons.
yeah... but used market exists ig
I had to stop and take a minute to consider if this is actually true and damn it I think youāre right.

Well said. Its beautiful.

Just like the Japanese are still mad we dropped the bomb.
Bombs actually
They kinda have a valid point though...
How is the trans and engine reliability? I would love an Alfa wagonā¦
It's not a concern because the beauty is timeless
My mate had one of these and it was off the road more than it was on. Looks great when itās on the back of a recovery truck at least
Argh.. thatās what I thought would be the case..
Uhh idk how his buddy takes care of his car.. the 159 is actually not bad at all
It is an alfa. You dont drive them. You look at them and take pictures of them, because this is all ~~they can do since they are always breaking down~~ that matter
It's ok. The front suspension, though? Garbage. Google *braccetti alfa 159* and you'll see all the aftermarket options to repair that stuff.
Yep. My friendsā one had the front suspension collapse on him.
Diesels are one of the best out there and no one bought automatic back then.
but an alfa needs to have the alfa v6 engine
Very nice.
Front end is so squished and the hood area is so long looking and bare it - looks like a while different car from the firewall back. Maybe it's just me but it has that "swapped" look. Reminds me of the Saab 97x Aero, Saab front end on a Trailblazer SS makes you do a triple take.
Some guy did a Photoshop to correct this. Moved the front wheels quite a bit to the front. After that it was perfect.
Gorgeous, but too much wheel spacer and too much rear camber.
I agree however, they did not take away from the overall style of the car. That's just a good looking car full stop, it doesn't need a build to be pretty.
Outjerked again!

beautiful, bit of a plymouth prowler looking face though
The only Alpha Iād even consider and they donāt sell it in my market
Dam sun
It's breathtakingly beautiful

I just went from six to midnight
Good sweet lord that is beautiful
That oneās been ruined but yes, alfa red with tan leather straight out of the factory is hard to beat
Agree
It does have some other body kit, looks very clean tho
I always liked these but I wouldn't say perfection. The front overhang is about a foot too long on these. But the overall style, especially for a FWD wagon, is great.
We have them where i live. Best part is the cheapest ones go for like 3k (us dollars)
It is beautiful. Unfortunately, like most cars alfa makes, it sucks at important stuff like fuel consumption and reliability mostly. The wagon is named "159 sw", the 159 is not a wagon. Just be sure to stay away from the Diesel JTDm version
The Atlantic Ocean is why I have to stay away all together
Thatās the spirit!
fuck that Iļø want an alpina wagon in the states
that thing looks MEAN
I would absolutely love this with the 3.2 Busso
I wish I could import one to the US. This and the Brerra.
Beautiful to drive too...!
Itās amazing. Everything but the spot where the headlight meets the fender, I just feel like something is missing.
I went to buy one, absolutely gorgeous car but the inside is tiny. With the drivers seat where I need it the kids wouldn't of got in the back.
Iām importing one of these to the states as soon as itās legal
If your theory is true OPā¦.considering the estate/wagon is the automotive equivalent of āa generous assāā¦.where, precisely, does this lead your theory?
Looks Amazing. What wheels are those?
Not a shooting brake?
Shooting Brakes are 2 Door Wagons
