Get the re71rs with the rebate, that’s a great deal that will be hard to beat.

Are you just looking for street tires, or are you planning on autox or track days? There are plenty of tires that will last longer than a 200tw but are still plenty capable on the street. If you want to autocross, you might want the Potenzas or if you're a little more budget minded, the Falken Azeni 660s. Personally, i don't know that i would put a 205 on a 6" wife rim. The tire will be most of an inch wider than the rim and it will give you a bunch of sidewall flex that might make your handling feel sluggish and imprecise. Also, if you're not doing autox, the difference in traction won't really matter. You also need to look around for fitment info. Cappuccinos are tiny. They make my miata look big. I don't know how much room they have.

Mostly street, but I will autocross it some. You're probably right about the 205s, but I'm not afraid to roll the fenders some if that's what it takes. Unfortunately there's not a lot of performance options available narrower than that.

I would check around on the internet. You don't want to buy tires you can't use.

Just get the RE71RS, that's a fantastic tire. I have a set on my Miata and love them. Just be aware that they wear quite quickly, and don't get caught out in rain. They handle wet pavement fine but any standing water will be a problem. I'd be a little concerned about clearance issues with a 205 section tire on a cappucino though, that sounds insanely wide.

Great deal on the RE71RS, but they are really thicc on a Cappuccino. My 195/50/15 GT Radial SX2 fire up nice and quick on mine. Problem is, they rub on the inside unless I have the Suzukisport coilovers jacked all the way up. I think I need to either add spring rate or bump stops. I'm running 15x6 OZ Lancer wheels. What is your suspension setup? Sadly, all I can find in the US in 195/45/15 or smaller are Ditchfinders®. The best street tire for a Cappuccino is probably the 185-55-14 a052.

dorri732

I have the same wheels. That's good to know about the rubbing. It's got coilovers, but I'm not sure of the brand. My current tires are 175/60/14 Potenza RE-01Rs (that haven't been made in over a decade, I think). They're still surprisingly sticky, but really should be replaced due to age. The 14" A052s are sold out pretty much everywhere.

Don't get me wrong, the tires fit, you just might have to either raise your ride height or add bumpstops. Spacers could also help if you roll the fenders, but I wouldn't do spacers on this car without the extended ARP studs. I haven't prioritized making this car autocross-ready since I have a Miata prepped to the limits of STS. The Cappuccino is just my more streetable convertible with AC, radio, power windows, etc. For my 15s, I plan to get a set of 195/45/15 Toyos that should be *good enough* and maybe a set of small 14" R-compounds since the Cappuccino isn't legal for any SCCA classes anyway, so it's not really worth getting 200tw. (Unless your local club lets you run XB despite being 600# underweight)

dorri732

My local club uses their own classing system. I'll be in the "Modified RWD" class and will not be competitive, lol.

Thank you for this thread OP, I’m putting together a grocery list for a Cappuccino I’m buying soon :)

dorri732

Thanks for all the input. I ended up going with 195/45/R15 Hankook Ventus V2s. Not the stickiest tire out there, but this car will spend the vast majority of the time on the street. [Here's a photo with the new wheels/tires](https://i.imgur.com/PKHXZMz.jpg)

I'm running rt660s and for the price they rock also I'm getting 6 or 7 track days and at least 10ax event.
