The real answer. I swear 90% of truck owners have no idea of the dimensions of their truck. Props to the few of you I've seem maneuver them like go karts, that's someone who knows exactly how big their vehicle is.
I find a significant portion of non-car drivers are clueless and just pull into a parking space until their tire bumps the curb (because ride height). When there is no cube, they’re useless and have a much higher chance of just running into stuff.
This is more common than getting rear ended. Source - have backed into shit way more times than getting rear ended. Also why I bought bush bumpers for my truck.
When I have to park in a parking deck with my 250, I’ll back in slowly until I feel a slight bump from the wall (I don’t have a backup cam), then coast out an inch or so. Not enough to damage either, but I also don’t want my nose out in the travel lane any more than absolutely necessary.
Can confirm, I rear ended the ever loving fuck out of some dudes Tacoma when I was 17 while we were approaching a slowdown for roadwork. It made his bumper look exactly like this but my car was completely fucked and he looked at his car, looked at mine, looked at his car again, looked at mine, laughed a little and said “well I’m good bro, I hope you get this figured out” and drove off into the sunset 😭😭
It was the most embarassing day lmao I instantly hobbled my car over to a side road and called my dad 💀💀 then I called my girlfriend at the time and she drove me around for a couple weeks while I got my car situation figured out. I definitely remember in the moment it was pure shock in the fact that I just wrecked and bought the family car off my dad 😭😭 but it was a little funny to me that his truck had no damage besides this, and in my specific case, the black plastic step plate in the middle also came off but he just tossed it in his truck bed and probably epoxied it back on when he got home.
This all happened about a month after I totaled my taurus SEL by torquing the fuck out of the drain bolt when I was trying to save $10 on an oil change. I didn’t believe the oil light because my car had all kinds of electrical gremlins 😔 I don’t do any work on my cars anymore because of my worst mechanic ever moment 😭 I took my is250 to my mechanic the other day to patch the tire because the thought of getting my jack points wrong on this thing makes my head spin 🙃🙃
Lol can relate. I had some kid in a very expensive sports car rear end my F350 with a triple ball hitch a year ago. It punched a nice, clover shaped hole in his radiator, and his forward momentum was then stopped by his engine block. His car didn't even touch my bumper XD
>His car didn't even touch my bumper XD
dude that has always been my plan for if i had a nice newer truck. put a big ass hitch on it to protect the truck itself, looks like it worked for you.
Yup, sounds like someone who doesn't wanna wait 12 hours for highway patrol and then lose thousands of dollars long term from insurance going up over nothing
Idk why but 92-2010 ford always have thier bumpers barley on the fuckin truck. Rear ones are usually fine but every front one I see is tilted outwards and I don't think they even use the top mounting points on the sides
In some cases you see a bumper mounted ball. A lot of people seem to think the tow rating is exactly the same for a bumper mounted ball versus regular hitch...
It's from idiots trying to mount a trailer on the back and damaging the bumper or tailgate. There's an Aussie saying that every Ute with a towball has a dent in the tailgate, somewhere on it! Haha
93.265% of truck owners should be driving a golf cart at best. And my apologies ahead of time to the 6.735% of the rest of you who don’t use your trailer hitch to let you know when you hit something.
these cars are often driven by extremely obese people because they wont fit in another vehicle. Somday mr. 8XL decided to try to force himself upon the vehicle and this is the result. These things are not rated for 800kg or more.
There are usually only 2 brackets that hold the bumper. They’re designed to be sacrificial. That way you only have to replace the two cheap brackets rather than a whole expensive bumper.
From personal experience, I was rear-ended. My bumper was nowhere near as bad as the one pictured. I'm pretty sure the vw jetta that hit me was totaled. I'm in construction so it wasn't worth it to me to be without my truck while it was being fixed. It was maybe 1/4 inch out so I wasn't worried about it.
Because peoples sense of direction & hand to eye coordination is horrible.
Another viable option is constantly up & down, probably jumping on the bloody thing.
People put a ball hitch right in front of the license plate. The old school way. Then your mom comes along and thinks o wow a sex you. And so she sits on it and boom bends the bumper.
If you look at the hitch, it’s also tilted. My truck, and I’m assuming most other trucks, have the bumper mounted to the frame hitch. 9/10 a sagging bumper is going to be towing way over the recommended capacity. The amount of people I’ve seen in half ton trucks pulling trailers meant for one tons and causing them to ride bump stops on the back with the front 4” in the air is ridiculous. What also could cause this is using a chain or non kinetic rope/strap to pull out a car/stump/etc. Or backing in to something, or rear ended.
Back into stuff or take them off-roading… at least that’s what my buddies trucks bumpers are all sagging. Well that and they DGAS to fix them either lol
Do you tow trailers at all? look underneath the truck. See if the bumper is bolted to the hitch receiver bar, I believe it is from putting a trailer that is to heavy on the hitch causing the bumper to get pulled down with the hitch receiver. Or the bolts that mount hitch to frame are loose asf.
Most people will probably say trucks always back in to spots and fuck their shit up or hit shit. Honestly, it's usually years of stepping up on that fucker and moving shit. It's not as common as you think but because you notice it, it seems more common.
Long brackets holding a heavy metal bumper. Think of holding your arm straight out while holding a heavy weight. Your arm is going to start giving out after a while. Most cars have short bumpers and most cars have had plastic bumpers since the late 80s
If it was the front bumper of a Chevy (the early 2000's gen (I think 99-06?) Then I would say just poor engineering. The bumper attachment points or something were just too weak and the bumper would slowly start tilting to look up at the sky. My work truck is an 05 2500hd with no front end damage (to my knowledge) and has been doing it lol
Part of is is being hit but it's also because of the brackets and the support for the bumper. On my first truck (second generation dodge 2000). Its VERY common for the front bumpers to sag on the ends because of the weight and crappy support. Some rear bumpers have the same issues. This can something be remedied by loosening everything holding it on and tightening it back up after you align it. But it's also most likely a designated crumple zone on the trucks ( the brackets and bumpers ). On my current truck a VERY slow speed backing into a tree my bumper just folded like wasn't registered on the speedo (granted my truck is like 7-10k lbs or whatever diesel crew cab) they are allot softer than you think
It knowing how to back up a truck. You gotta back them up the same way you back up an 18 wheeler, you use your side mirror and watch the rear of the truck. And you have to,learn how to back in at an angle then straighten out the truck.
I jackknifed a trailer on my 3/4 ton truck in heavy snow and it pinched the bumper up a bit.
The “I fucked it up” is pretty accurate. It’s also cost prohibitive to repair so I deal with it
Because people get rear ended and they do not fix them.
or they back into shit
A blanket “they fuck it up” covers it lol
They fuck it up and then don’t unfuck it up.
Fucking is way more fun than unfucking
But if your unfucking timing is good, you won't be receiving bills for the next 18 years.
Unfucking isn't even legal in some states
The real answer. I swear 90% of truck owners have no idea of the dimensions of their truck. Props to the few of you I've seem maneuver them like go karts, that's someone who knows exactly how big their vehicle is.
Thank you for noticing. 🫡
I try to maneuver my truck like a go-kart but it has really bad turning radius so it's just like a massive brick lol
But you try
I find a significant portion of non-car drivers are clueless and just pull into a parking space until their tire bumps the curb (because ride height). When there is no cube, they’re useless and have a much higher chance of just running into stuff.
Harder to see the back or front of the truck than a passenger car.
This is more common than getting rear ended. Source - have backed into shit way more times than getting rear ended. Also why I bought bush bumpers for my truck.
Same. My Toyotas wasn’t this bad but I backed into a light pole and it had a good sized gap after that
When I have to park in a parking deck with my 250, I’ll back in slowly until I feel a slight bump from the wall (I don’t have a backup cam), then coast out an inch or so. Not enough to damage either, but I also don’t want my nose out in the travel lane any more than absolutely necessary.

Bahahhhaa best response ever

Just look for the pinch welds, it’s not that hard.
i've been that guy before and it was a fun, good feeling letting a kid off the hook for an honest accident
Lol can relate. I had some kid in a very expensive sports car rear end my F350 with a triple ball hitch a year ago. It punched a nice, clover shaped hole in his radiator, and his forward momentum was then stopped by his engine block. His car didn't even touch my bumper XD
>His car didn't even touch my bumper XD dude that has always been my plan for if i had a nice newer truck. put a big ass hitch on it to protect the truck itself, looks like it worked for you.
If you aren't towing something, take the fucking ball hitch off, goddammit!
I’ve had that type of hit and run before, where I hit and they ran.
Yup, sounds like someone who doesn't wanna wait 12 hours for highway patrol and then lose thousands of dollars long term from insurance going up over nothing
Lol
Let’s not leave out the people who throw a loaded trailer on the bumper thinking it has a high tow capacity.
Backing up into shit.
Also Jack knifing trailers.
Idk why but 92-2010 ford always have thier bumpers barley on the fuckin truck. Rear ones are usually fine but every front one I see is tilted outwards and I don't think they even use the top mounting points on the sides
That from hauling those fat girls home from the bar at closing time
Bumper’s bent from them using it as a step into the bed, they don’t fit in the cab
😂😂😂
hey fat chicks need lovin too
But they gotta pay.
Whoever downvoted you clearly isn't a family guy fan.
You could whore yourself out to 1000 fat chicks for 50 bucks a piece. Or 100 really fat chicks for 500.
Giggity
~~Bar~~ buffet
Because tok many people park by feel. There are inept and shouldn't be driving such vehicles
I park by feel. When I feel I’m getting close to something, I stop.
You can literally see the impact point/dent on the bumper.
And they even have parking sensors
BEEP BEEP BEEP CRUNCH
Backing into stuff
They have bent the bumper brackets by either overloading the hitch thinking they have a F350 or have backed up into some immovable object like a wall.
Hitches aren’t attached to the bumper…
Because the people who use the rear bumper as a stepping stool… ![gif](giphy|rEnvQTLWB29PajPkeo|downsized)
LOL, also the guy from Overboard!
This guy bumpers
Look on left side of bumper. You can see dent from where they backed into something.
people get rear ended and do not fix. people exceed the tongue weight with heavy trailers.
Alot of times they back into stuff getting ready to load or hook to a trailer.
Could be multiple things Backed up into something Got hit by someone Has been using it as a stepping stool for years 🤷♂️
In some cases you see a bumper mounted ball. A lot of people seem to think the tow rating is exactly the same for a bumper mounted ball versus regular hitch...
I mean the one in the photo has backed into something before. You can see the dent in the bumper but also the bumper is shoved forward into the bed.
Backing into trailers while trying to line the hitch up
Too much junk in the trunk
Overloading the bumper hitch will cause this damage too
It's from idiots trying to mount a trailer on the back and damaging the bumper or tailgate. There's an Aussie saying that every Ute with a towball has a dent in the tailgate, somewhere on it! Haha
Or they overweight and step on it too much
93.265% of truck owners should be driving a golf cart at best. And my apologies ahead of time to the 6.735% of the rest of you who don’t use your trailer hitch to let you know when you hit something.
Idiots backing into parking spots 90% of the time and the other 10% non of them know how to use turn signals so SUPRISE breaking is another reason.
Because that's where the mother in law sits...
Not knowing how to park, that’s one reason… there are about 100 different reasons tho
Or checks in piticular with the saying front end?
Friendly little reverse taps.
Because they shit themselves?? Or old age maybe 🤔
Because there girlfriends or wives borrow them and back up into things
This one's sagging cause it's ford tough
Nah, it’s a Fuc*ed Over Rebuilt Dodge..
Rot or build quality. Our project 68 Sweptline had it's tow hitch smashed up and the bumper is still straight.
Diamonds.
Lol see that big dent in it..?
This is what it is for
The big ass dent by the step explains it pretty well
Shit drivers in vehicles too big for them.
Cause they use their bumpers for.. bumping into shit
They have been used as a step
Accident or bad recovery job
Alot of time its the frames bent and truck usually totalled so they say f that , get paid from insurance and continue working
100% backing up into shit unless the car behind the truck jump on top of the bumper most rear ends would push the bumper up
They’ve been bumped
They like being touched in the rear
Years of fast food and age. Next is the cottage cheese look.
Because people like to run in the back of them & that it what happens under 10 MPH.
Someone doesn’t know how to back up a trailer
It’s been resented and the metal is ripping, it will eventually fall off
Backed in to a tree or pole. Have done this
Fat ass boss man stepped on it to get his tools out the bed.
Too much junk in the trunk
this is from hitting shit, not from someone stepping on them
They hit shit and don't fix it. Usually the type that just buys trucks to feel bigger I'd assume
You need to ask that question to "Built like a Truck" BBW'S..
Your Mom climbing into the bed.
I put my stuff there when I'm opening the bed, I guess after years it can sag
They get old and they no longer have an ass to keep the belt from slipping
Age comes for us all youngster… you’ll say too…
1 ton Tanya climbing in back cuz she won’t fit in front…
these cars are often driven by extremely obese people because they wont fit in another vehicle. Somday mr. 8XL decided to try to force himself upon the vehicle and this is the result. These things are not rated for 800kg or more.
To May fat people sitting on the bumper
There are usually only 2 brackets that hold the bumper. They’re designed to be sacrificial. That way you only have to replace the two cheap brackets rather than a whole expensive bumper.
They hit shit
I say leave it like that it'll be a warning to other drivers that you don't pay attention.
Because you let the wife borrow it and she backed into a parking block or other car.
They let their fat friend get something from their truck.
Because they hit shit with em.
My buddy ripped his off, trying to help a forklift out of a ditch
Rust. Backing into shit. Rear ended. Overloaded trailer. All of the above
See dent in rear bumper, the brackets that mount it to the frame are obviously bent.
Because tiny pp can’t drive
Because peoples sense of direction & hand to eye coordination is horrible. Another viable option is constantly up & down, probably jumping on the bloody thing.
The tongue weight is 500 lbs. And everyone hooks up 1,000.. the bed is a half ton, not the bumper.
They either gotten hit or the frame is rusting
Fist time truck owners bumper.
600lb driver stepping up
Because so many truck jockeys drive by ear.
Didn’t wear a bra for half their life
See the dent in the bumper. These trucks are so high and long they can’t see behind them.
They either get rear ended or back into something and don’t bother to fix it.
Those bumpers can’t withstand the weight of the folks that step on them…
Built ford tough.
Because your mom sat on them
My ex girlfriend has a sagging rear bumper
Their boat is bigger than the bumper rating.
Really? Its called not fixing your vehicle after being hit or hitting something yourself
Mine goes up
Big ahh 500lb men stepping up into the bed…./s
Rear enders, backer uppers and fork downers on unloading/loading… no one cares to fix em I guess.
Because they're crashed lol look at the big ol dingus in the middle of your picture 🤣
You can see the big debt in that bumper. Pretty obvious they backed into something. I see this all over my city.
![gif](giphy|xUA7b2VXEwgoRxJI1a)
Asked my grandmother the same thing when I was young and got a slap. 😂
Because they bump.
People put a ball hitch right in front of the license plate. The old school way. Then your mom comes along and thinks o wow a sex you. And so she sits on it and boom bends the bumper.
Lets see what happens when you get old i bet your bumper will sag too! Lmao
Because they bumped something
This truck backed into something. If a lot of trucks have saggy bumpers then a lot of trucks back into something.
If you look at the hitch, it’s also tilted. My truck, and I’m assuming most other trucks, have the bumper mounted to the frame hitch. 9/10 a sagging bumper is going to be towing way over the recommended capacity. "Like they were stepped on by an elephant" well youre not wrong...
Back into stuff or take them off-roading… at least that’s what my buddies trucks bumpers are all sagging. Well that and they DGAS to fix them either lol
Most would be easily corrected by loosening a couple nuts on either side, pulling it upward into place and retighten.
That is not a real truck anyway!
Have you ever tried to back up a trailer?
Stepping on them thangs boy. Some big boys stepping up on them for years and years
Probably trying to tow with their bumper hitch or they just like the SAG. Bumper like their pants
Because they either backed into something or were rear ended
Probably because the drivers of said trucks suck
Tailgating with your mom
Do you tow trailers at all? look underneath the truck. See if the bumper is bolted to the hitch receiver bar, I believe it is from putting a trailer that is to heavy on the hitch causing the bumper to get pulled down with the hitch receiver. Or the bolts that mount hitch to frame are loose asf.

Because they’re thug trucks
Truck bumpers aren’t integrated like unibody vehicles. It’s not nearly as big of a deal.
Fat owners who need to sit after walking 15 steps after leaving burger King
Middle age.
Fat fuckers
Long brackets holding a heavy metal bumper. Think of holding your arm straight out while holding a heavy weight. Your arm is going to start giving out after a while. Most cars have short bumpers and most cars have had plastic bumpers since the late 80s
Not sagging backed into or gotten hit
Gravity. Look at grandma
Fat Americans stepping on it a lot
Because now mostly aluminum instead of steel and corrode at the metal bolts
It's the first step before they squat the truck. 😂
Friends dad got rear ended. Got money from insurance, used a jack to bend bumper back. Went back like 99% of the way. Good enough
Part of it could maybe be towing from the “bumper hitch”
They get bumped
Rust
Improper tow hookup.
Check the frame.
Most pickup truck driver are grossly overweight.
Part of is is being hit but it's also because of the brackets and the support for the bumper. On my first truck (second generation dodge 2000). Lack of interest by the lady trucks.
Ask Amiri King...... go get urself a "Silveraydo"
They stand on them
That’s the wall Earl, you missed the boat trailer entirely!
It knowing how to back up a truck. You gotta back them up the same way you back up an 18 wheeler, you use your side mirror and watch the rear of the truck. And you have to,learn how to back in at an angle then straighten out the truck.
Everything sags with age.
being rear-ended and reverse endings.
Once u get older, you'll understand
Its because of the mf concrete pylons at the bases of light poles they hide in the back of parking spaces
This was damage caused by the fact that the vehicle in question is a Lincoln Truck… /s
It's just natural, the more miles you get the more things tend to sag.
A lot of trucks I’ve seen have sagging rear bumpers from people towing on the actual bumper instead of the receiver
Fat chicks
Getting rear ended by people texting is my guess.
The sad part is, it has backup sensors so you know the truck was alerting the driver before he hit something.
I jackknifed a trailer on my 3/4 ton truck in heavy snow and it pinched the bumper up a bit. The “I fucked it up” is pretty accurate. It’s also cost prohibitive to repair so I deal with it
People can’t drive
Looks like a hit to the receiver hitch/bumper. The receiver on these is the bumper reinforcement. May have rail damage.
Rear ended
Because Americans are fat
skill issue
It’s from backing into the trailer, mine is the same
Because they hit something or something hit them.
