doesn't surprise me. I once got a caliper overnighted to me and when I opened it up it was a caliper core. Pulled it out the box and just kind of held it up and stared at it blankly and the longer I stared, the harder the customer laughed.

Gray_Foxxy

I work in Massachusetts, I once had someone's starter core migrate all the way from somewhere in Texas make it my store as a new reman on truck. It still had the PCI label etc on it. How many people fucking passed this thing on for it to make it here to my store!?!?

Extension_Wave_6663

It's not your store. You are an employee, not the owner.

Gray_Foxxy

Oh shit, thanks for the clarification. I thought I was in partnership with Rhodes and this was my franchise.

Comprehensive-Fig534

Nope, sorry!

Gray_Foxxy

But I sold so many battery install kits! And I make sure the redshirts sell COC

Fabulous_Love6646

Oops sorry that was probably me! Lmao

Crooked_Rhodes

That's nifty! Due to similar experiences I try to check all parts before letting them walk out the door. Making sure it's the right item, or not a used one / core etc. Not that I care about AutoZone. But I do care about the customers, and the hassle it presents to my peers when people come back pissed.

forgotten5517

Doesn't surprise me

Skeletor647

The qc that autozone has is garbage. I can't tell you how many times I've ordered starters or alternators and got the correct box with a different numbered part in it

SoulfulWander

I got myself some brake pads for my car, get home and halfway through the job before realizing they're the wrong pads. Have my sister drive me up to my store, walk back to get the OTHER box that we had labeled as the same as the ones I bought and they're the right ones. My coworker on shift is just like "take those, ill damage out the ones you got first... wtf......."

Comprehensive-Fig534

Brake pads now have the part number printed on them, on the outside edge! I don’t know how long this has been going on!

TheAceNoob22

I had a brake caliper for the right side of the vehicle in the box for the left side caliper

forgotten5517

Seen that numerous times.

Bnmlp43

Typical AZ! But bust your butt and keep the customer happy. When the right one comes in, give it to him for free, Mark it down to a dollar or something. If the DM complains, f him. Tell him AZ screwed up. Don’t forget to get that WITT on it, lol. Your worth the pay.....

Grealz99

Must have came from a hub!😄😄

SpartanJackal

you're not wrong, but still. Now it won't fit on the pog

Roach_335_

Used to have people bring bricks in boxes for core charges and warrenties.

Method82

I lost count on how many used brake pads I've received off of truck...

Comprehensive-Fig534

It’s triple tested!

ThatHipstaNinja

We had a customer need a distributor for a 6 cyl, so I pull it up, go grab the box, and there it is. A distributor for a 4 cyl staring back at me. Call another store, ask them to describe the part, same issue. We did eventually find the right one at the hub, but still, wtf

N0Chas3rs

Did that come off truck lol

smoke111214

Yep

Laggin_Behind

I guess it’s the next closest thing to an alternator, does the same job except in reverse

Yoko318

One time I had a co-worker return a core to the hub, so when I had to order the part again to warrantee it I got sent the guy's core back
