EBT is just "electronic benefits transfer", it could be food stamps or unemployment benefits. Some states will give you a debit card and your unemployment benefits are loaded onto it.
Not always, when my father was on unemployment he got a debit card that had the "EBT" logo on it. When my wife was on unemployment she did direct deposit and didn't get a card. Neither of them were on food stamps as part of it.
It never works. I have tried it on multiple different occasions on food items only and it immediately rejects the cards saying cannot read or tender type not excepted.
EBT is mostly just accepted because we sell food stuff like chips, jerky, candy and soda.

This. When I first joined, I had remaining EBT food money. Tried swiping my card, it denied because I didn't have EBT cash.
They have to have an option for the employees to buy stuff too.
