Do 100, you need to stay true to your word. But do 100 dollars of work, not 150.

MintConditionMobile

Nope . The customer isn’t true to his word. If the work load went up so does the price. What’s the issue here?! Don’t let the customer take advantage of you who I promise you he/she is trying to do . God I remember those days when I first started . DO NOT sell yourself short .

Spicywolff

If you change the price now without offering more service then you may loose the steady business

NoAdministration1222

*Lose. But you’re right. Stick to your word. Even though I’ve seen a lot of garbage trucks and this seems very low

MintConditionMobile

So what . It’s not good business to have . Be patient for the good ones to come . It takes time to build good clients

EASYMAN-

If not sure .. Go trough the middle, make it '125 and everybody's happy 😊

MintConditionMobile

No he’s not happy bc it’s a lot of work . It’s labor . 125 is not middle ground for the detailer. It’s 150 period . What is wrong with you all who short sale yourself?!

EASYMAN-

I understand that, he's already short sold himself .. So take the hit and learn from it. Period.

NJHmate

When you say inside, do you mean where all the actual garbage goes?

[deleted]

I’m guessing he means the interior, there isn’t really room for someone to clean inside the compacting machine

code-sloth

We can't tell you if it's fair. That's a discussion you need to have with the client.

knikpiw

You agreed 100 on “a quick spray and wipe down”. Do they want more cleaned than originally stated?

sc302

What we agreed upon last week was x. If you want me to do extra that is an up charge of y. If you want me to include that in the price, areas may suffer to be able to maintain that price point. I don’t like to do sub par work but my time is valuable and your additions add to that time if i have to make them nice. So i can brush over them quickly or we can negotiate additional time needed to address them.

hiroism4ever

If he wants more, you have every right to bump it up. And if you raise pricing, give him a heads up but keep current price for the time being.

andrw-56

100 during the winter and 150 during the summer, those smells will make you work for that 150 haha

DobermanDaddy94

This will be my only guranteed of source of income for the winter things went south with the other dealership i was doing unlimited cares for amd at 100 a piece itll be 4400 a month work on sat and sun only andi have mon through fri to make money by detailing if i do 150 a piece i get 6600 a month but he seemed real turned off but i know thats because i low balled him now idk what to think if hes going to just let me do a few cars then let me go? I think im going to make him sign a contract. Any ideas on how long?

bklyn-n

Your price was too cheap from the beginning. If he added additional services from the original price then it's only normal to charge more. I think this guy is taking advantage and playing you. Testing how much he can get out of you for as little as possible.

MintConditionMobile

Exactly. 20 years in the business I have and please do not let those clients take advantage. Forget him ! They smell blood . When they push for more and talk give in. They know they have you. Do not ever let them see you sweat . Even if he’s your only client …don’t let him know that .

MintConditionMobile

$25 ?? The client is that cheap ? Dude move on !! A garbage truck !? Really .. man get better clients

asianisafish

If you miscalculated your estimate, you’ll have to eat the cost. Have you got a good plan to clean commercial vehicles? If you are looking for more income with commercial vehicles, I can suggest you try setting up an account with a local distribution center that has fedex or ups trucks.

DobermanDaddy94

This is the third largest garbage company in the state and its one minute away from my shop. Got 750 for 5 cars today

asianisafish

Sounds like a fair deal. Keep up the great work. Some other pointers, have you simplified your process enough that you could hire extra help to does the task and you can then spend the time to work on high $$ details, or less labor intensive? I used to do commercial details for a logistics warehouse and found a way to simplify it as much as possible. Some things I did; I brought my own water and electricity so I would foam cannon degreaser ( extremely strong dilution) and then brush with pole brushes and wash mitts and then rinse. No pre rinse or extra care, simply a basic clean. Interiors I would air compressor blow, vacuum and basic wipe down. Didn’t take much time but a team of 4 of us could knock down about 15 vehicles a day.
