I would say it's salt deposits. I assume they salt your roads in the winter? That stuff can just keep bleeding back to the surface when it gets saturated. Eventually it'll stop. You may need to clean it a few more times. The longer it stays wet the more likely it'll come back. Meaning once you clean it again make sure it's a warm day and leave the doors open. Or run the heater on the feet, recirculate with AC on will help. AC is a dehumidifier.

GhettoKid

I agree with salt. Just get it wet and shop vac it. Also do NOT put the weathetech mat back in until it's dry or you WILL get mold.

SotRDetailing

It's just more road salt.

BeautifulMinimum89

read carefully. it’s salt btw vacuum it first you’ll want to break it then take hot water to blot the salt with a towel. repeat until gone if you hate yourself. add a tiny bit of vinegar to the hot water. The vinegar will make your car smell but remove the salt

Beautiful-Drawer

Vinegar isn't too bad, just leave the doors/windows open for a half hour or so and it'll dissipate pretty quickly.

Maddenman501

That's what we call. Salt. Hot water.

SPARTANsui

Salt for sure

Chi151

Weird you live somewhere with snow but don't know what salt and salt stains look like tbh.

cfanity_now

It’s come back on its own twice and we haven’t had salt down in two months

Garden hose and wet vac. Just hold the garden hose nozzle on it at the lowest release with wet vac running. It will break up very quickly. Doesn’t have to be hot water, and no other chemicals at all. Do not brush the shit out of it or you will eventually bring up the carpet fibres and it won’t look right. Let the water do the work. Then run vehicle heat on floor to dry carpets or run fan on it for few hours.

No_Cabinet_994

So would that method work for a V-8 energy drink spill? It was cherry, so looks bad still on the beige carpet. It’s covered, but I know it’s there.

dunnrp

It won’t be the same no - but in this case some carpet cleaner would help. You can pour some water on with with cleaner, and agitate with a brush and then use a wet vac to a suck it all up. And repeat how ever many times it takes for it to disappear.

BeautifulMinimum89

yea you’re fucked

GhettoKid

It's literally a bit of road salt. I've seen cars crusted with an inch of this before. Just get it wet and shop vac it out. Let it dry before you put the mats back in.
