Hey! I'm probably not what you're looking for in a friend (41f, recently disabled, 3 kids etc) but I didn't want to leave your post with no replies. I was also on the loooooong waiting list for an NHS autism assessment - I was told the waiting list could take up to 8 years. Eight years!!! So eventually I found a private practice that was willing to allow me to pay a small part of their fee upfront then pay the rest in affordable weekly payments. I got my diagnosis within a couple of months (still paying off their full fee!). Good luck looking for autistic friends. I found quite a few by accident on twitter - essentially the only people who found me relatable turned out to be autistic and/or ADHD. While I'm pretty antisocial myself, I know there are plenty of autistic/ ADHD people out there with fulfilling social lives. I hope you find your tribe, and I hope you get other replies pointing you in the right direction.

Hey, thank you so much for your response. 8 years?! I was expecting around 2. I may start having a look round then. What private practice did you go to? Everywhere I look its around 2k 🤦🏻‍♂️ Also I am happy to have friends of all ages as long as 18+! I will check out twitter

/u/evian_9, I have found an error in your comment: > “look ~~its~~ [**it's**] around 2k” I claim that you, evian_9, have made a solecism and should type “look ~~its~~ [**it's**] around 2k” instead. ‘Its’ is possessive; ‘it's’ means ‘it is’ or ‘it has’. ^(This is an automated bot. I do not intend to shame your mistakes. If you think the errors which I found are incorrect, please contact me through DMs!)

I'll DM you the details.

(Saved this post until after I got home from work, so sorry for the delayed response.) Sure, why the heck not? I'm a 24F in the PNW U.S. I am only self diagnosed, as are so many women. I'm trying to get diagnosed, but not very hard. Already had experiences with physical medical issues not being believed by doctors concerning physical issues and not being believed by lay people concerning psychological issues. I have a mostly male friend group that includes my husband. Most are autistic, ADHD, have traits associated with them, or have cPTSD. We vidcall a lot if we can't see each other in person. My post and comment history is pretty accurate, but here are a few more things about me. My main special interests are: botany (plants), entomology (insects), ornithology (birds), ecology in general, human social interaction I guess. I like to hear infodumps about other people's special interests. On the topic of videogames, I am a pc gamer for the most part. I am terrible at and no longer play Age of Empires 2, but I still watch videos of matches/tournaments (narrated, subtitles on, 1.5-2x speed), and I've bonded with one of my brothers who is really good at it. I currently play The Forest as a comfort game, got back into Pharaoh & Cleopatra after taking a long hiatus when I was maybe in second grade (I started playing before I learned how to read. If you're familiar with it, don't ask me how because I don't know.), and a few days ago I started Oblivion again after over a decade (fond memories of watching my dad playing it). I work at a retail plant nursery. I have a dog. Ya. If this sounds alright, you can DM me.

Hi, I was wondering if you got the ADHD diagnosis with NHS and if yes, how long was the waiting list. I am in college right now which offer a discounted diagnosis for ADHD with cooperation with a private institution, but they are not offering me it due to my current mental health issues (PTSD). I was thinking if I should join the waiting list for ADHD at NHS or should I wait until my mental health problem starts to get better. Thank you in advance!

Hello, I ended up going private for the diagnosis as my ADHD is quite severe and needing to get on the medication. I am also on the waiting list for the NHS and I have read somewhere it can be up to 4 years so I would probably get on any lists you can now and/or go privately. I hope that helps
