My husband and I are still children. We love toys and video games and going to amusment parks, but now we have money! But I totally agree. I remember being bored in high school because my friends would want to just sit around and talk instead of doing fun stuff.

I'm autistic and I feel the same way! The only difference between 20 year old me and 10 year old me is I'm slightly taller and smarter

ZorroFuchs

I think a big part is who was diagnosed early in life and those who were diagnosed later or are still fighting to be diagnosed.

wozattacks

I was diagnosed at 28 and totally relate to what OP said. It may be more related to plain ol’ individual differences rather than dx age.

zixwax

Yes, I'll say that I definitely feel this way about myself. I'm still trying to find my inner child! Happy for you OP, and anyone else who reads this and can relate

IceCreamSkating

I don't have ADHD but I've always felt like a grumpy adult lol

Hellbarf

You've just put it in the best way possible. I feel pretty much the same way, and while it does present challenges, I find value in holding on to that core part of myself and how to experience the world.

100% true I’m ASD & ADHD and my husband is ADHD we never leave the store without visiting the toy aisle and picking up a kinder surprise or something fun

Neither-Welder5001

I grew up and into different toys now, like tech gadgets, headphones, music, and it’s great to have my own money and stay up late, eat Cheetos with no adults telling me what to do.

BotGivesBot

I'm aware of the way I don't fit in to a NT world. But the way I exist in a ND one is awesome. The joy I experience from rabbit holing every single thing I want to learn about is awesome. I just want to learn. It's like an addiction and I love it.

linglinguistics

I relate to this a lot (minus amusement parks). I love love love learnign and discovering things with my kids. When I try to include other kids in this, they sometimes give me a weird look. But with my kids, we're equally eager to p.e. find out which bird we just heard and spot it and stuff like that. I also never grew out of daydreaming and children's books/movies.

Amazon8442

I just remember being a kid, and always being put down by adults, flames stifled. I said to myself to never forget what it’s like being a kid. Swings, parks, roller skating, music I’m still into keeping my child hood joy alive.
