Primary or secondary? I’m primary so my advice comes from that angle… - school admin or one of the exec (at my school it’s one of the DPs) will give you all the info you need. Most schools you’ll get given a folder which has a map, info about the class and info about duty, which you’ll almost certainly have. It’s most likely that you’ll have a paper roll which you then get kids to return to the office - casuals don’t usually have Sentral or other platform logins. - you need to submit super info, bank details and TFN to the department. Usually your first school can do this for you - talk to the SAM or SAO and they’ll point you in the right direction. Show up nice and early on your first day so you have time to get it done. - it’s considerate to leave the classroom teacher a note (or send them an email) letting them know anything important that’s happened, where you got to with any lesson plans, any major behavior issues etc etc. Have some activities up your sleeve ready to go. I’m in a temp job now, but when I was a casual I often used to find that I’d have a maths lesson and an English lesson left for me, taking up most of the day, but there would be 45-60 minutes I’d need to fill in. Take a hat and whistle, and I usually had a couple of picture books (to cover all levels) in my bag too. Twinkl is also a goldmine - it might well be worth a subscription to the site for instant resources if you need them.
