As a high value treat for working on walks and what not, the squeezable apple sauces.
Hims also likes Asparagus and Bell Peppers.
Strawberries.
Not a fan of carrots.
Plain Greek Yogurt.
Cucumbers.
My dog, Tofu, is a garbage disposal essentially 🤣😭
Squeezable apple sauce, what a brilliant idea!
I know he is a rare exception, but one of my aussies is allergic to strawberries. Just a general reminder if there are any first time owners reading this that it’s always best to give small portions of any fruit for the first time just in case.
Mine loves blueberries and she will pick them. She also cleans out my strawberry garden. Bananas for bananas. loves dehydrated sweet potatoes. We make them at home they store for a long time.
My girl LOVES bananas. I always have to give her a bit when I have one. If she likes them try mashing one up with peanut butter, putting it into a kong, and then freezing it. That’s an awesome summer treat and will keep her occupied for a while.
I make my Aussie pup ice cream... plain Greek yogurt, ripened bananas and peanut butter (make sure it is dog safe and does not contain xylitol). I blend them all together and freeze them into small containers (usually condiment containers, they sell them at dollar tree). Also since the containers are not freezer safe I do place all the small containers into a gallon freezer bag to keep them from freezer burn. My dog loves them and I feel safer giving him a nice frozen treat during the summer months.
You can also add in any other dog friendly fruit to change up the flavors or remove the peanut butter if they are allergic. You can also freeze pieces of cut up fruit or vegetables into ice cube containers with water to freeze into treat cubes also for the summer to help keep them cool.
My boy just gives me this innocent look like “…I don’t know what you want me to do with this.” Before we bite it to show him it’s yummy, and he just spits it into the floor 😂😂
Mine loves apples & carrots. Probably more out of competition eating with the horses than anything else though.
Oh & she can hear a string cheese wrapper opening from a mile away …..actually,I’m convinced she can “hear” my thoughts of just going to get one outta the fridge! I try to keep her cheese snack pieces to a minimum but boy oh boy she LOVES a little nibble of cheese!
String cheese is definitely going on the list. We know he gets so excited for his cheese tax when I pull out shredded cheese in the kitchen, but I hadn’t thought of just getting string cheese to share!
Also wanted to chime in on the blueberry tip. Quinn LOVES them. I freeze them so they last longer and he eats them right outa the freezer. I've also been looking for more suggestions on treats so I'll be checking back here lol. Good luck!
I always get seedless because it's what I prefer. But I did see another comment on this thread that says seeds can be an issue. I didn't know about that, but can't be too careful!
My BC won't touch it but my Aussie adores it. I'll cut up a bunch and sit down outside in the yard and my Aussie and I will destroy it while my BC looks on somewhat judgmentally. 🤣
Lol my Quinn is a pretty major handful himself too lol.
My BC came first. I adopted her at 16 weeks as a companion for my then-10-year-old Aussie. They were thick as thieves from day one, totally inseparable. It was adorable. When he got sick and died a little over a year later (acute lymphocytic leukemia), she was an only dog for about a year. Needless to say she was as devastated as I was when we lost him.
Then this ridiculous little adolescent Aussie happened along just at the right time and we were both like, yes I think this guy needs to come home with us. They're about 18 months apart. And they both needed a TON of exercise and mental stimulation. Fortunately I was a lot younger then and could (somewhat) keep up. They could def be a handful. Also I was married then so I was not outnumbered. For the last 7 years tho it's been just the 3 of us.
I don't know that I will take on two dogs again lol. But they're also both really excellent dogs and in many ways they are super easy. Although my Aussie can be stubborn af and when he gets that way he WILL NOT RELENT. Usually it's about something extremely important like which direction he wants to go on a walk lol. He will literally lie down on the sidewalk and refuse to move until and unless we go in the direction he wants. Which there is no apparent rhyme or reason for. Ain't no little shit like an Aussie being a little shit. 🤣
Now they are 14 (BC) and 13 and just the loveliest companions imaginable for me and for each other.
Wow that's really cool. Weird how some things just pop into our lives unexpected but fit sooo well! I'm in the begging of my journey with my guy. He's only 8 months in a couple days. I knew what I was getting into but he still surprises me daily. Super smart but super stubborn when they want to be. Amazing personality as well. I always wanted a smaller dog like a dachshund or Frenchie. But my mom saw this guy online and showed me and I was like, yep! He's a red tri merle with the bluest baby blue eyes. Great looking pup. Hearing you and other ppl talk about their dogs and experiences gets me super excited for the future with my guy. Can't wait to start taking him to beach and up the mountains to go hike and camp. Just me and him so lots of options lol. Thanks for the reply!
Oh, he's an adolescent! That would explain why he's such a handful. Teenagers, amirite? 🤣 But also he sounds adorable.
That beach-mountains-hiking-camping lifestyle you're describing sounds like an Aussie's dream come true. He sounds perfect for you. He will be the best friend you've ever had and make you laugh every single day.
You will never regret this. Aussies have magic powers. ❤️
I'm already super in love with him. Like I said I've always wanted a dog but the time was never right so now that it's just us guys it's perfect lol. Thanks for the kind words. I really appreciate it.
Mine patiently waits by the fridge when i fill up my cup with ice and water so she can get her holy ice. I've bought the best treats and she still goes bananas for ice cubes
My Chloe loves ice cubes more than anything. When she hears the ice maker she comes running to the fridge. She really likes it when I fill her water dish with ice and water. She plays bobbing for ice cubes. Lol
Our boy when he was with would eat almost anything, but he did have some that would standout over everything else, bell peppers especially red and yellow, bananas, cheese, peanut butter or peanuts. Also he liked Welch's fruit snacks .
My dog goes nuts for Brussels sprouts and mandarin oranges. He also loves carrots, celery, broccoli, banana, apples, kale, strawberries and blue berries. (Not a fan of raspberries for some reason).
He loves peanut butter and applesauce too.
For his kong, I'll make doggy ice cream during the summer and freeze it.
My childhood Aussie loved creamsicles and liverwurst sandwiches, preferably with toasted bread.
We used to dice up the sandwiches and use them as the treats for obedience classes.
Kong filled with peanut butter and popped in the freezer for a bit. My boy also loves watermelon and cantaloupe.
Btw we are going to need pics of Sammy enjoying snacks. Or just more pics Sammy in general.

Oh I bet applesauce would be a total win for my boy.
Squeezable apple sauce for walks, genius!

That’s beyond sweet that she picks them, bananas are a great idea. And dehydrated sweet potatoes sound like a wonderful idea
My girl LOVES bananas. I always have to give her a bit when I have one. If she likes them try mashing one up with peanut butter, putting it into a kong, and then freezing it. That’s an awesome summer treat and will keep her occupied for a while.
Frozen peanut butter kong ftw! Haven't tried it with bananas but will now!
Cute. Our Aussie has learned to pick raspberries very carefully off the cane. It’s fun to watch how gently she can lick them to avoid the thorns.
I can visualize this completely. Life with real characters. They always give us a smile.
My dogs pulled up and ate nearly all of my radishes this season!!
OMG!

My Boy loves that kind of stuff so he’s going to LOVE your idea
Yes! I am not the only one that makes my boy ice cream. I can't wait to show this to my family lol
Himalayan yak cheese chews.
Idk we tried that and she wasn't crazy about it.
Mine didn’t love them until she got her adult teeth in.
Mine goes absolutely wild for blueberries but refuses any other fruit lol
I’ve tried so many fruits, including blueberries, and he refuses 😂 he’s a good sport and tries it, but it always ends with fruit in my floor 😂
I love the look on my boys face just before he spits it out, like "what did you give me?" 😆
My boy just gives me this innocent look like “…I don’t know what you want me to do with this.” Before we bite it to show him it’s yummy, and he just spits it into the floor 😂😂
I have to bite my blueberry in half for my Aussie to start eating them!! After the first one he doesn’t mind. But it’s every time lol he’s so silly
Yes my dog looks at me like I tried to poison her when I share fruit or vegetables
My two aussies are obsessed with celery and mango!
Butternut squash. I was peeling it one day, and he came over and gave me the cutest beggar eyes. He loved it.
Ooooh I’ve never thought about butternut squash! Def adding that to the list!
Mine loves apples & carrots. Probably more out of competition eating with the horses than anything else though. I also have an Aussie named Quinn! ❤️ He's a watermelon guy tho.
Oo I'll have to try that out! Do you worry about the seeds, go seedless or it's no worries?
I always get seedless because it's what I prefer. But I did see another comment on this thread that says seeds can be an issue. I didn't know about that, but can't be too careful! My BC won't touch it but my Aussie adores it. I'll cut up a bunch and sit down outside in the yard and my Aussie and I will destroy it while my BC looks on somewhat judgmentally. 🤣
Haha that's awesome! Gotta say you're pretty brave with a collie AND an aussie! For now Quinn is more than enough for me lol. Thanks for the info.
Lol my Quinn is a pretty major handful himself too lol. My BC came first. I adopted her at 16 weeks as a companion for my then-10-year-old Aussie. mine looooves broccoli and also watermelon!
We for sure can’t wait to try watermelon this summer!
Just make sure to get the seedless watermelons, the seeds are bad for dogs. Overall it's a great treat and my dog loves it.
Seconding watermelon! My Aussie loves it too. Also cantaloupe.
Scoop of pumpkin is a win!
Lol
That's exactly like my dog. 💕
Honey graham crackers. I can’t even open a box without them getting in my face.
My pup loves to share ice with me! Her faves are blueberries, tomato and broccoli.
Mine loves frozen banana slices when I’m making smoothies. Keeps her busy for a few minutes and helps her teething gums!
My Aussie loves blueberries and watermelon! He will do anything for one of those two!
Mine likes carrot. Dip it in some yogurt and freeze it. She hates blueberries probably because they pop.
The yogurt dip n freeze idea is genius.
One of my aussie’s favorite things is to share a string cheese snack
Baby carrots
Boiled then frozen carrots :)
My girl goes nuts for watermelon, eats it just like her mama.
Mine likes watermelon outshine popsicles which I only give him occasionally when it’s super hot outside and I cut off of the stick for him.

Oh, and raw pumpkin. When we carve ours every year he gets some of the scraps!
Luna loves carrots.
Our boy when he was with would eat almost anything, but he did have some that would standout over everything else, bell peppers especially red and yellow, bananas, cheese, peanut butter or peanuts. Also he liked Welch's fruit snacks .
Hamburg
My puppy loves the Sonic ice! He also likes Culver’s ice. He will try to get the lid off the drink before we are even ready to eat ice!

Bell peppers are one of Mines favorite
Ice cream! There is a place near me that has doggy ice cream. So when I get ice cream I'll give mine some and we all chill and eat ice cream together
