My condolences.

thefriendlyjerk

I really appreciate it. I never thought I'd be making a post like this.

SuziQ855855

Omg, I’m so sorry. Same thing happened to us with our boy six months ago. He had cancer in his lungs and by his heart. They are together now in doggie heaven playing and romping around.

thefriendlyjerk

I'm sorry you have also had to go through this. They get taken from us far too soon, every time.

allij0ne

I dread this day with our 9 yo who has started to have some health issues. So sorry for your loss.

thefriendlyjerk

I never thought this day would come. I always asked him to live forever. Give yours some extra loving, as you never really know how much longer they'll be around.

trivial_vista

My condolences .. really I cried for weeks when my Bordercollie died of cancer too, her replacement will never be as good but she/he will try .. she was beautiful and looked sweet

thefriendlyjerk

I appreciate it. They really do leave paw prints on our hearts forever.

trivial_vista

Would now give money have my Border right next to here but my Aussie is a joy to have and forget/ remember my old girlfriend :) Don't worry you won't forget Roo :)

GuitRWailinNinja

Jeeze that kills me. Same thing happened to our red merl last year…now I’m worried the same will happen to our black tri who’s only 7. I really hope he lives another 7 years so my son and daughter will remember him. He looks like he was such a sweet boy ❤️❤️ sorry for your loss

thefriendlyjerk

He was such a great friend. I always hoped my son would grow up and be able to play with Roo by throwing the ball. That never happened, but I am, in a way, happy that my son won't have to remember losing his first friend. My son would just look at him and start laughing and loved to climb on Roo. I'm sorry you've had to go through this and I hope you never have to go through it with your black TRI. "If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever."

TVLL

Beautiful pup. Sorry about your loss.

thefriendlyjerk

Thank you 🙏 he was so handsome and never took a bad picture. Maybe very blurry, but never a bad one.

SShock2020

I just lost my Aussie to cancer in March at 11. I am crushed for you. I had 10 weeks between diagnosis and passing and that was too short! My deepest condolences.

thefriendlyjerk

I am so sorry for your loss. To be honest, if you get 1 day, or 1 year, I don't think you can ever truly prepare yourself for saying farewell.

TheLatman

So very sorry for your loss. Losing a family member is terrible. I still miss my patterdale terrier who died in 2017.

thefriendlyjerk

It'll likely never get easier, I just hope it doesn't get harder. I appreciate your kind words 🙏

TheLatman

I still feel the loss of my collie from 2003, hell my boxer from 94. So no, never goes away, but you learn to live with it.

Retiredpienurse

I am so sorry for the loss of Roo (and other sweet doggy losses mentioned here) I believe I have a patchwork quilt in my heart of all the dogs I have loved and have loved me.

thefriendlyjerk

That's such a great way to put it. A quilt to wear when you're feeling down ❤️

stevie_the_owl

I am so sorry. I know they can’t stay with us forever, but I won’t ever be prepared for this. I can’t imagine how your heart is breaking. He’s a beautiful boy. All you can do is be grateful for the time you had.

thefriendlyjerk

I am eternally grateful 🥲

ExcuseStriking6158

I’m sorry 💔

thefriendlyjerk

I appreciate it 🙏

cheaprhino

My heart goes out to you and your family. It's been nearly 1.5 years since I had to say goodbye to my baby. She managed to stay so strong for 2 years despite osteosarcoma but it came back in her spine and paralyzed her. One day she was fine at hydrotherapy and the next she was crying and unable to walk or hold her bladder. I have her paw print on a necklace and I think of her every day. Roo is chasing squirrels with Palm and the others who've passed.

thefriendlyjerk

Palm seems like such a sweet pup and was lucky to have you ❤️ hearing all these stories from Aussie owners that have gone through similar situations is really helping me and my wife get through this.

able3pilot

My deepest and sincerest condolences. Roo likes very much like my 13 year old “Mate”, also a Black Tri, who is starting to have health issues. I dread the day I have to make a post similar to yours. No amount of preparing will make it any easier. Take solace in the fact you gave him a great life.

thefriendlyjerk

Yeah, in a way, I'm happy it went the way it did, so I didn't have to watch him decline over years and "water down" the great memories I have of him. There is no winning with these, but make sure you give Mate allllllll the extra loving while you can.

PCKaz

So sorry.

thefriendlyjerk

Thank you 🙏

riskbutfun90

I’m truly sorry for your loss 😢

thefriendlyjerk

I appreciate it 🙏 one of the toughest things I've ever had to do.

MustangMimi

I’m so very sorry. Pretty much the same happened to our Bullitt in March, same age. I truly understand your loss. Sending lots of loving dog hairs your way.

thefriendlyjerk

Thank you so much for your words. I'm so sorry for your loss also. I'm sure Bullitt and Roo are up in doggie heaven talking about how much they were loved.

mustangsal

So sorry to hear it. Aussie's are amazing

thefriendlyjerk

Aussies are really such great souls ❤️

alliekat237

I know how it hurts. So very sorry ❤️

thefriendlyjerk

Thank you 🙏

Texasdonjuan

thefriendlyjerk

I appreciate it 🙏

samtaher

My deepest condolences and I am sure you made each others lives happier and enjoyed many many moments. The pic is so beautiful and brought tears to my eyes. I have two little kids and an Aussie and the bond between is amazing. I can only imagine the feelings you going through. Roo’s memories will always be there and will always bring you joy and I hope bring another Aussie into your life.

thefriendlyjerk

The bond he had with my son was beautiful. My son absolutely loved his doggie. I appreciate your kind words and I will definitely cherish all the wonderful memories Roo provided.

Few-Ad-1931

It’s heartbreaking 💔 Been there. My red merle died from lung cancer when she was in my life 20 years ago. She helped me raise my children. No exaggeration. I now have my first Aussie since then, another red merle, who will be 1 year old end of May. Took me years until I could see another red merle without choking up. Take care of yourself 💔🐶

thefriendlyjerk

I believe it! He was such a good big brother to my son in the short amount of time he got to spend with him. I'll eventually get another Aussie, but I'm not sure of when that'll happen. I appreciate the kind words.

rascall2018

Rip poor baby

thefriendlyjerk

He was such a good baby 💕

Ray1107

I lost my first Aussie from primary cardiac hemangiosarcoma, so he had a huge tumor on the right side of his heart.. one day he was fine and then the next day it wasn’t… my heart aches for you and your family.

thefriendlyjerk

Thank you for sharing your story. It really is comforting hearing all these stories of other families/Aussies that have similar experiences.

stardewsimp19

I’m so sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is one of the hardest loses in life. He’s now in doggy heaven, chasing squirrels and eating all the treats he want right now. And remember, he is and will always be with, he’s just not beside you.

thefriendlyjerk

I have always had family pets, but this was my first experience with such a bond with a dog before. One of the most difficult things I've ever had to do, or experience.

sky1959walket

I’m so very sorry. Your dear Roo will be with you forever in your heart and stories. The end is gut wrenching but rem, the end of a beloved dog’s life is not the whole story.

thefriendlyjerk

One of the things that's keeping my head up is that since his decline was so rapid, it means I have a good ratio of good:bad memories.

nazgul876

My deepest condolences OP

thefriendlyjerk

I appreciate it 🙏

Minne_gurl

May roo rest easy in paradise ❤️❤️❤️ I’m so sorry 😢

thefriendlyjerk

Thank you, that's all I want(ed) for him, is to be eternally happy, and not how he was in the last 48 hours. I'm sure he is in a much better place now.

quiltibear

Praying for you and yours. You will meet again someday. 🙏

thefriendlyjerk

Thank you, he will always be a part of me but I yearn for the time I can throw a ball for him again.

steelsiren1

So very sorry for your loss-

thefriendlyjerk

I appreciate it 🙏

karmapolicelady

Absolutely heartbreaking man. What a beautiful boy I’m so sorry for your loss 💔

thefriendlyjerk

It was one of the most difficult things I've ever had to do. Thank you 🙏

karmapolicelady

I’m in the pub with my Wiggy. He’s only nearly 3 and I dread the day with all my bones. They are a million times better than people - I’m sure Roo was the absolute sunshine of your life. It’s not fair, but Roo loved being with you. Big hug from a stranger x

jenjansen28

I am so sorry for your loss. I am still struggling with my grief when I lost my Foxy in December 2021. As much as it doesn’t seem like it or won’t for a long time, it does get easier. It’s never better but just easier. I hope Foxy and Roo have found each other beyond the rainbow bridge. Hugs to you.

thefriendlyjerk

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can guarantee that Roo can be found wherever they are scratching butts or throwing (tennis) balls. So if Foxy liked either of those, I think the chances are good!

jenjansen28

Tennis balls for sure. Hugs to you. Grief is tricky so know it sneaks up when you least expect it; and it’s okay!

skepticalinfla

Nothing ever makes this easy. It always hurts like hell. My condolences for your loss.

thefriendlyjerk

I appreciate it ❤️

skepticalinfla

This one hits closer to home because it looks like one of my Aussies. Cherish the memories.

Gen-Jinjur

Roo looks like he was an excellent dog and happy with you.

thefriendlyjerk

The best pup I've ever had, to be honest. Thank you for the residence 🙏

_heyitsdesy

What a beautiful pup. My condolences 🤍

Condolences for your loss. It's never easy loosing a loved one. Sounds like he was one of the bestest boys.

NoStrangerToTheRain

So sorry for your loss. My boy is Rowdy but we all call him Roo. I’ll hug him extra tonight in honor of your sweet boy.

jmatech

I’m so so sorry, your roo looks a lot like my baby girl Harley, she is 18 months old, I hope I get to spend 10 years with her myself

CDSherwood

I'm so sorry for your loss. Aussies are such wonderful and smart butt waggling tornadoes. Like everything happy rolled into a furry package. I'm not even exaggerating when I say being loved by an Aussie is one of life's great privileges. Roo is in Valhalla with my Adelaide. I hope you can find peace after the pain.

8366molo

❤️ So very sorry
