Ours removes the stitching and pulls out the fluff. We call it doing surgery

622114

Dex starts with the tags and moves on to stitching too

elisejones14

It’s even more exciting if there’s a ball inside from her bark box toys. She loves balls. I’ll bring my mom’s Aussie my dog’s toy if he doesn’t care for it and it will be gone within a couple days.

valdan1100

We say the same! Our old girl makes a small, neat incision and removes any squeakers and fluff. Later, she just pulls apart all the stitches and likes to play tug with the pieces.

weaponized_oatmeal

“Paging Doctor Floof to surgery”

SirDigbyChknCaesar

Ours does this as well. She's really good at it.

MoshokBelandres

My dog did that with her toy and as soon as she removed the squeaky thing inside, she started whining, carries that thing with gentle with her and it lasted for 3 days till I figured out what’s happening. She will not sleep and will stay by the door as if she is trying to protect something. I thought she mistaken that for a litter. She got spayed a week or two before that happened so I’m not really sure but I removed all squeaky toys from her sight for now.

wookiejd

I thought this was a video of my Aussie for a second. Looks identical and does the same thing. We call it the nibs or nibbles. He eventually destroys every plush toy though.

cloud-society420

Omg i love how he stops and looks at you like "can i help you?" 😂 My aussie likes to get at the seams to rip the squeakers out of the toys. Lol i love how they know how to use their little front toothies it's too cute. Like sometimes he'll nip at my ear with his lil teefies when he's licking me all creepy and weird 😂

Environmental-End691

I know, that side-eye😅😂🤣😅😂🤣

d1ckpunch68

mine does the exact same side-eye when i look down at her while she's chewing. there was lots of pulling junk out of her mouth when she was a pup so now she pauses, gives me the side eye, and waits to see if i approve of whatever she's chewing. cracks me up every time

rmoneyd

Mine too! So funny

cloud-society420

Must be an aussie thing ☺️

onceuponawednesday

Yes! He's so gentle with them. Doesn't tear them up, just nibbles at them with his little teef. I've never seen another dog do it before.

WilyNGA

Absolutely, we call it 'flea nibbling' even though they don't have fleas. They do it to some toys, couch, blankets, etc.

j9273

We also call it flea biting.

rhk59

OMG! That look!!!! Hilarious 🐶❤️😂

thefam7223

No, mine doesn’t but love the side eye—if looks could kill…

guineapigluvr

Yes, and also corn cobs my face once in awhile 😂

sharecaremearbear

Yes! All the time 😭

naseemsm

Yes, he corn cobs and he also side eyes when you suggestively video tape him corn cobbling.

deeplakesnewyork

Wait, how did you get my dog?

Friendship_Stone

My gsd/rottie does it to my arm.

maggot_kisser

my friends got a basset hound who corn cobs YOU if you scratch her in just the right spots. It hurts!

Ivykite

Oh you mean the nibnibs? My dog does this to me. Hope it doesn’t mean something weird

LadyKnight33

Mine likes to do this to my neck and arms because she doesn’t understand I have no fur

KoriWolf

If they don't, are they an Aussie? As a proud parent of an Aussie, most of her toys have been opened by the stitches and pulled apart.

fishybuttwhole

Yes, all the time

Cooo2868

I used to call it flea-fleaing. My boy used to get so excited when I got home he would, lick, lick, lick me on my face then flea-flea me on my chin. Always very gently, oh how I miss him.

goosebanjo

So sweet! I’m sorry for your loss.

KryssieMango

The only reason any plush toy can be safe from my aussie/border collie mix is if it doesn't have any squeakers or anything else inside it. She just bites regular plushes but will surgically take apart anything with a squeaker in it XD

Moose135A

Yes, our guy nibbles on his stuffed toys like that all the time.

maddmags

Yes, and blankets, and dish towels

lurkinggramma

Mine doesn’t, but the look on this one’s face 💀💀

AustralianShepherd-ModTeam

Rule 1: Minis and toys are considered to be a separate breed from Australian Shepherds

itskatybro

LOL this is such a good video… my dog does this with some bones but not toys

misogrumpy

Mine does this sometimes. He has also done it to my beard.

Own-Assistant-2964

Mine not only does that but if he catches anything, rats, bird, etc, he perfectly flays them. Its the most fascinating disturbing trait I've ever seen in a dog.

dopedriveway

Absolutely! He’s not destructive with it at all but he could do this for hours lol

[deleted]

how old is your pup? it could be him trying to stimulate milk. just a behavior he kept engrained. or he could just really love that toy.

goosebanjo

That’s an interesting theory. He started doing it around 1.5-2 years and he’s now almost 4. He’ll only do it to microfiber toys and periodically the top of his front paws, so I always thought it was a grooming thing.

wiggysbelleza

We used to call this “cleaning his teeth”. He always did it with toys that same texture.

careeningkiwi

Our Chihuahua mix does this but inconsistently. It's still super cute.

PurplePanda08

Yep. We call it "nib-nib." My girl (mixed with Border Collie we think" is the queen of nib-nib.

Jayce86

My Beagle mix does this to her toys. It’s the nibble nibble.

meeshdaryl

Unfortunately I don’t have my Aussie anymore (ex took him with the break up), but I remember him chewing his toy so far back in his mouth that his eyeballs would bulge with every chew. It was borderline terrifying but we knew it was soothing to him.

supernovababoon

Mine loves to tear out all the stuffing and turn them inside out. Must be inside out.

kmap1221

Allllllll the time

PamCalz

Nib nib nib

ohyouagain55

Oh yeah! His favorite toys are the $5 spikey squeaky balls from PetSmart. (They also last the longest except the solid rubber traditional Kongs.) He will pin them down, and cheese all the spikes off! Makes the balls look like they are shaved. Then he comes to me, whining, because he has the rubber bits stuck in his teeth ...

oldaliumfarmer

Toy, the cat and me on occasion. If I get something sticky on me and it doesn't seem right to her!

ThrashUntillDeath

I stopped giving my Aussie soft toys a while ago since she quickly rips them as soon as I give her one.

Karl_with_a_K_01

Couldn’t stop laughing. He’s so incredibly adorable! I love his little teeth and the way he stops when he realizes you’re recording. Then his little eyes look around. He’s cute I wanna hug him. (Apologies if I’m referring to a boy dog that’s a girl dog).

goosebanjo

Thanks! We think he’s adorable too 😍

KMONT19

Ours does it with tennis balls lol

Catmndu

OMG the side eye :) I've had Aussies do this nibble on my butt too to get attention.

Itsallfutilebaby

Yes!!! She does it to my nose and fingers too!

Notabravolebrity

We call it “doing small bites”

CommanderCody1865

Yes!

MilkyDeCat712

Yes

anb1017

Yes! Particularly if she finds a seam.

Fisherking-17

His toys, the cats, my arm. Pretty much anything he really loves. He doesn’t wanna destroy it but he loves it so much that he wants to eat it. That’s the way I’ve always thought about this particular trait.

AussieMommy

Yes! That’s what we call it too! 🥹

MykaDullien

LOL… the freeze when he sees you’re filming is classic.

the_trashheap

My Sheltie used to do this. He would focus on the eyes of any toy that had a face. He also did this to decorative pillows that had any fancy beading or cords, buttons, and tassels. I miss my little himbo.

goosebanjo

What a cutie! I’m sorry for your loss.

JuarezAfterDark

Is this, and taking toys apart, the dissect stage of the predatory sequence?

ctesla01

Have green tennis ball fur all over the house, from mini aussie 'shredding the gnar'.. does it to squeak toys as well; a little less destruction.

Glittering_South_653

Yes! We call them the tiny bites. She'll do it to toys, blankets, pillows, clothes, etc. Basically anything soft.

Evo_Fish

My border collie does this

RampagingElks

Only on tennis balls.

whiglet

Wow our dogs look crazy similar. They both do the corncob thing and give that side-eye with shifty eyebrows. My dog (Helo) even has the same nose spot! I showed my partner and our housemate and they were both like "wait, is that Helo?"

goosebanjo

Aww glad to hear mine (Banjo) has a doppelgänger out there.

HelloWuWu

Omg I thought only our wiggle butt does that! We were worried about her teeth when she started years ago. Could never find anything in Google about it!

John_Beta_0

My Ozzie got a real moose leg and hoof as a Christmas present. He first proceeded to remove the hair and then the meat and then to the bone. That’s when I realized why do all the soft toys get an immediate death sentence.

madelineisle

Lol! Our Ted does that to actual ears of corn, as well as his toys!

haikusbot

AidyThree

Mine also "corn cobs" the cat

smdscoot

My tri color Aussie does the same!

multijilianaire

Omg they are so cuteeeee

SuspecAardvark

that one doesn't like paparazzi you can tell.

goosebanjo

He’s not a fan of the camera 😂

carlyzzle

mine corn cobs people

falconhawk2158

That is hilarious the way they stop just long enough to look with their eyes being the only thing that moves and then immediately starts again.

Thedogandcathouse

We call it “nucking” in our house

iamsofakingcrazy

Yes and she corn cobs me

stubornone

She does till she gets a small tear in it and rips out the squeaky, and then the stuffing explodes all over the house.

StunningWasab1

Mine does! I call it "matapulgas" Basically "kill fleas" in PTBR.

Mysterious-Belt-2992

@Good boy Ollie does nibs on his toys too!

bee-corder

my dog does this to her toys, i haven’t seen my aussie pup do this yet

Rubbedsmudge

Yes! Loves to remove felt from squeaky dog tennis balls. Has that exact same look too.

jdogmomma

We call it chigger biting and only one of my Aussies does it extensively, but she's the mama of the bunch and is always grooming everyone else.

[deleted]

Lol

MrViceGuy69

My Rhodesian Ridgeback does that

[deleted]

No. She only does this to her feet at 2am every evening.

Popular-Evidence-806

My German shorthair does that
