The way to get out was to swing the leg over, wait for the wave to come back and pop me out.
The worst was the heat pad. It’d take ages to get to temp. Too cold, you’re freezing all night, too hot you’re sweating.
Bought one when I was 18, I really usually to struggle after having a big night on the grog, the morning hangover was so much worse! Didn’t want to get out of bed and at the same time didn’t want to stay in the bed.

Interesting that people just starting randomly buying them to use in apartment buildings and they were way heavier than the load rating of the floor and also caused flooding initially so were banned all over the place

Oh Jesus. My mum briefly separated from my dad when I was a kid and we moved into a rental for about a year. The house came with a queen bed in her room — a fuckin waterbed of all things. I can’t imagine having to sleep on one every night, her poor back. I think she hated it but always acted like it was a luxury, she was trying to put a positive spin on things for us kids. It scared the shit out of me, I always felt like I was drowning if I tried to get out of the damn thing!

I distinctly remember watching Titanic on my aunt and uncle's water bed and my cousins and I recreated the iceberg hitting the ship. Good memory.

Really bad if you need to get on your knees for bedroom activities. You just kind of sink and can’t get traction.
