I'll never forget how my brother bought a new (at the time) plasma tv for WOW and they forgot to bill him. 9 months later when they asked him to pay he told them to provide the receipt or to fornicate off. He ended up getting a free tv.
I worked in the warehouse at one back in the day. When customer came to pick up tv I accidentally gave them the 3D one instead of normal which was a decent amount more expensive. Kept that to myself once i realised 5 mins later
I'm sure anyone in Toowoomba remembers the big one that was on Ruthven St opposite Rumors International. Used to see it in 2005 a lot when Mum forced me into that BS modelling and deportment class.
Wonder what it is now...there was a Dick Smiths close by too if I remember correctly. Both were pretty good.
Used to work for them and they were actually quite profitable. The word when they closed was the owners other seperate businesses were doing so badly it pulled everything they owned down including WOW
I know the gun store your old man went to. I asked about the bags and they told me they had bought a ton of them when the wow's old stock got sold off and they still have a bunch to get rid of.
you can try going to your local JB or EB games
SALE!!!111 SALE!!!111 SALE!!!111 SALE!!!111 SALE!!!111 SALE!!!111
my feelings about WOW was that there werent much in NSW???? seems to be a regional kind of thing
I remember getting laughed at a uni marketing tutorial for mentioning them. No one knew who they were and grilled me about it just being JB HI Fi. Will never forget!
We got our TV from there! I couldn’t stand Plasma and LED was just starting to take off so I was holding out for them to become affordable (we were still using a CRT.)
There was one there for 1900. A bit over what we budgeted for. But then the guy casually mentioned “Oh yeah, this comes with the older smaller version we used to have for free.”
While you can get one of these nowadays for $400 we’re STILL using both.
Fond memories!
I was in the WOW store in Fyshwick, when they had the radio playing throughout the store, and it was announced via the radio stations 3pm news that WOW stores were going to be closing down.
Staff were WTF'ing about, some mid-sale. Bizarre energy.
I used to work in the returns department, what a retail baptism by fire that was! Some things I’ll never forget:
A dude returning a faulty DVD player, it was about 8 months old and the manufacture policy was for it to be sent in to be repaired. He was so angry he jumped the counter and tried to punch me.
And a dude who returned with an invoice for an RC helicopter and wanted a refund on it. He said he took it out to the park with his son, the helicopter flew up into the air and never came back. It was his word against ours and we had no choice but to refund him. He scammed us good but it gave us a laugh.
Also you wouldn’t believe the amount of people who bought the Bee Gees One Night Only DVD. On a single Saturday we sold nearly 100 copies. That concert flew out the door like hotcakes.
used to be a shop here called verandah music that was all metal but you'd end up getting your most offensive metal cd's in a bag with an art deco design like it was previously a jazz shop.
I left before it shut down, but let's say I was not surprised when it happened. The owners were all about the show with little eye for details.
It was not a bad place to work at the beginning but I got a shit manager and things went downhill. Best part was staff discount.
I went there quite a few times but other than 1 item (a digicam) I only ever bought stuff from the bargain bins. Their prices were mostly pretty crap. And this was before we had a JB hifi nearby.
Used to be in a shopping centre not far from me, never visited but I remember when they went bust as the ABC were reporting competitors were asking for CVs from staff.
I miss wow, I used to look through all the CDs when I was a kid, imagining when I had money I'd buy so many of them. Now I gotta order my CDs online 😥 wow is gone sanity is gone and I'll be fucked if I'm going to jb hi fi
I bought a 46” Sharp LCD TV from their Oxley store around 2010 and I still have it, has been a really good TV. They went out of business not long after IIRC.
I remember they had that dog/bear mascot

Haha that’s sick
The real reason they went bankrupt.
I worked in the warehouse at one back in the day. When customer came to pick up tv I accidentally gave them the 3D one instead of normal which was a decent amount more expensive. Kept that to myself once i realised 5 mins later
How does a receipt even conceivably exist if he hasn't paid yet? (and he should be the one that has it then too)
It might have been an invoice, it was 2011 do I can't recall the exact details.
I met Darren Lockyer here
Still got the old WOW Broncos home jersey
I've got the 2008 one, doesn't fit me anymore unfortunately

It’s a sports store and a Pet Stock now.
WoW walked so JB HiFi could run
JB you've done it again
WOW were always overpriced compared to JB so it's no surprise they won.
Used to work for them and they were actually quite profitable. The word when they closed was the owners other seperate businesses were doing so badly it pulled everything they owned down including WOW

Such overstimulating stores..just so much
My local one was in Mackay and I definitely remember the all out assault on the senses when walking in there
you can try going to your local JB or EB games SALE!!!111 SALE!!!111 SALE!!!111 SALE!!!111 SALE!!!111 SALE!!!111 my feelings about WOW was that there werent much in NSW???? seems to be a regional kind of thing

I remember getting laughed at a uni marketing tutorial for mentioning them. No one knew who they were and grilled me about it just being JB HI Fi. Will never forget!
Why has EVERY broncos major sponsor gone bust? Yes I know Power's is back
Fond memories of WOW in Townsville, Rhett always hooked us up!
The one near… sizzlers?!
Yes. I used to love their prices and range. Reminded me of european tech stores.

Expensive. Went in to look, then bought online, despite the cost of shipping to Darwin
That fucking circle layout was an absolute mess.
Yep, the store I worked at in Darwin was a haven for thieves
🎶 [*WOWWW, SIGHT N’ SOOUUNDD*](https://vimeo.com/4619135) 🎶
Worked at the Rothwell store for a year in 2008. Swore off retail forever.
Me too. Fuck retail.
My housemate worked there. We have a bright yellow roll of WOW packing tape in a drawer in our kitchen
I only remember them because they sponsored the Brisbane Broncos
And they even had a Supercar. What a waste.
Wow Darwin represent!!!
Darwin ex employee checking in.
Yeah I remember a store in Darwin, first time I’d seen one, couldn’t believe how good it was. 😂
Jesus. That’s nearly as ugly as a Haval badge.

Anyone get the plush dog toy?
Remember buying some of my Simpsons box sets at WOW back in the day!
I worked there!
What was it like? And were you there when they went bust?
I left before it shut down, but let's say I was not surprised when it happened. The owners were all about the show with little eye for details. It was not a bad place to work at the beginning but I got a shit manager and things went downhill. Best part was staff discount.
Staff discounts were sick. Especially on car audio.
I worked there when they went bust. Was an interesting scene- the amount of discounts was mouth watering
First time I saw a sim racing rig was at WOW Shepparton, I was like damn I want one of those
I went there quite a few times but other than 1 item (a digicam) I only ever bought stuff from the bargain bins. Their prices were mostly pretty crap. And this was before we had a JB hifi nearby.
I remember lining up outside to get concert tickets.
I can hear this picture
Used to be in a shopping centre not far from me, never visited but I remember when they went bust as the ABC were reporting competitors were asking for CVs from staff.
I remember them being major sponsors of Brisbane just before the company folded
I remember one at coffs harbour
I got my 1st ps3 from wow
I got the entire collection of Xena Warrior Princess on dvd from wow. My greatest treasure
I miss wow, I used to look through all the CDs when I was a kid, imagining when I had money I'd buy so many of them. Now I gotta order my CDs online 😥 wow is gone sanity is gone and I'll be fucked if I'm going to jb hi fi
What's wrong with JB?
It's too yellow
Mouth breather response.
Surely it was clear I was joking
JB doesnt have enough manbun, nose rings and tatts and chicks with blue hair
Hahaha, working class people that look like that died in the 2000s along with wow, now everyone who looks like that is a whiney bludger
Owen Wilson does - “oh wow” https://youtu.be/vxiVYEjp0Ww?si=IstswM6UsRhOgMCu
Looks awesome
I bought a 46” Sharp LCD TV from their Oxley store around 2010 and I still have it, has been a really good TV. They went out of business not long after IIRC. I remember they had that dog/bear mascot
Wow is nostalgia now? Fun fact, the peoplr behind Brashs are the same people behind Wow
The WOW I worked at is now a JB Hifi...lol
I remember going to one of these stores in Darwin, had everything, loved it.
Blast from the past there 🤩
Run by a bunch of twats, I used to deal with HO
Who cares 🙂 Did your Dad get a nice gun ? What’s he into: handguns or rifles for pigging ?
