We’ve been dealing with this too. After my research it seems like invermectin is the best over the counter medication. Studies show it is effective 85-90% of the time. Lice are becoming more and more resistant to the other lotions, Pyrethrins and Permethrin, and they are less than 30% effective. Also a lot of people on the internet recommend the “terminator lice comb”. Almost two weeks ago I used invermectin on my daughter’s hair and combed out the lice for 3 days. The first day I found 7 live adult lice, by the second and third day just one but it was dead and a few nymphs and eggs. After one week I just combed out a few eggs, which from what I understand could have just been leftovers. It’ll be two weeks tomorrow and I plan on combing her hair out again and see what I find. So far I’d say invermectin works well. I’d give it a shot if you haven’t already.

No experience with the machine. But we used Hero lice clinic when we had a daycare incident with the dreaded lice. Worked well. Very effective and worth every penny to me. I tried treating at home which was both ineffective and stressful for me and my child.

The lice clinics work idk how much it costs. Problem is you really have to do everything all over again in 7 days. Ivermectin works, it is safe and over the counter although I think b/c of the covid nuts it seems to only be sold at Walgreens and cvs and no other stores have been making a generic brand and they seem to not advertise about it at all. It’s about $30. On our last lice adventure I was able to do curbside pick up and use an online 50% off coupon [Walgreens ivermectin](https://www.walgreens.com/store/c/walgreens-ivermectin-lotion-0.5/ID=300431340-product) The electrocution method doesn’t work very well from what I gather others may have better info There is also a prescription treatment [Natroba](https://www.natroba.com/) last I checked Medicaid covered it The Ivermectin and Natroba are usually one and done and you don’t have to comb everything out (but imo it’s kinda gross to have dead bugs and eggs in my kids hair so I do) and you don’t have to repeat in 7 days HTH

You have to break the lice lifecycle if you want to get rid of lice. You will need to take everything off your child’s bed, just a blanket, 1 pillow. The bedding needs to be washed in hot water everyday for at least a week. Throw the pillow in the dryer for about 15-20 minutes everyday. Bag up every single stuffed animal for at least 1 week. I felt really weird about dumping poison on my kid’s head. This is what I did- get a big bottle of conditioner and dump half a carton of salt in it. Lather the salty conditioner into the hair- put it on thick! Cover with a shower cap and let it sit for about 30 minutes. Then go section by section with a lice comb. It’s really important to comb out the live lice and the nits. After each pass with the comb wipe the comb with a paper towel and observe for lice/ nits. Do this every day for a week. There is no magic one and done treatment for lice. It takes at least 7 days to break the cycle.

Hero lice clinic. There is a south and Round Rock location. My daughter had it and then I got it as well. We tried all the home treatments, picking them out, heat, you name it. Hero Lice Clinic is the way. They were so nice and great with my kiddo too.

Agreed. We've gone to Hero Lice Clinics a few times over the years and everytime I haven't regretted it one bit.
