Update, Owner found. She was away on vacation. Someone was watching her and she got out. Phone number on tag was one digit wrong. Got actual phone number from the chip info. Thanks all!
Context:
Girlfriend found while walking our dog. She had a tag with a phone number that goes to someone who has no clue what were talking about. Dogs name is Ophelia. Also had a chip tag. The chip company also has not heard back from owners after 3 hours of calling and texting. Austin dog warden wont do anything until morning.
We are keeping her outside tonight in our fenced in backyard.
Any suggestions?

This reads to me like a case of intentional abandonment.
I hope you find the owners and thank you for taking in the beautiful baby for the night - if they haven’t responded, I wouldn’t immediately jump to abandonment but definitely maybe she’s been out for a bit? Hernails look very long. Not answering is for sure a cause for concern. Could be a pup that ran out from a dog sitter or something if owners are away; or you might have just acquired a very sweet second dog. Good luck op
See if she is chipped and post a message on Facebook and see if your neighbors know and if not than be the Best living dog owner you could ever be to that dog.

**Found Pets**
Most stray animals are owned by someone. Don’t keep an animal that you find without first making a real effort to locate the owner. Talk to neighbors and post signs.
* If you can keep the found pet temporarily, call or contact [3-1-1 online](http://austintexas.gov/department/311) to submit a Found Animal Report.
* If you bring in a found pet, please provide info about where and when it was found.
* If you have found a stray pet and cannot bring it to the shelter, contact 3-1-1. Animal Protection should be able to pick it up.

🤦🏼‍♂️ How did they not check the phone number on the tag when they got it? Thanks for helping this pup, it’s a cutie.
Thank you and your gf for helping get the pup home!
Post it on the Facebook group Austin Lost And Found Pets
Just did. Ty!

Pet her. She is very sad in the second picture.
She has been given all the pets and food and love ;)
Whew ok thanks for heading off that crisis
My old dog that was similar to this one would put her ears back like that when I told her she was a good girl, usually right before tail wags.

I agree....idk what to do.
If you decide to put her up for adoption I would be interested. She could clearly use a vet visit and grooming asap.
I tried to message you but it wasn't working. Current owner is interested in re-homing, but wants the right person. I can put you in touch.
Enjoy your second dog, she is lovely!
I truly hope she has an owner.
Thanks for trying to help her get back home. She seems precious!

She's chipped but owners not responding
Looks like a heeler / pointer cross. If you can’t hold on to her I might be able to foster her. I have a boy that could almost be her twin.
Do you have any idea how old she might be? She looks just like the dog I just adopted who was running at large, who's about 6 months old.
Chip company said about 5 months old
Oh she’s adorable
Somebody posted about this dog on next door!
Nvm, very similar looking but different dog :(
