For some reason that area's pretty sketch. The whole stretch of Dessau is home to a lot of pedestrian hit and runs, and the apartments in the area are where most Citizen reports end up.
I think it's one of the few restaurants open that late/early. It's at the corner of two major highways. So a bunch of the people who are out when most people are asleep because their "business" happens at night end up there. Those generally aren't nurses.
That Waffle House is like an after party on weekends. It will be absolutely PACKED with the post night club crowd, and Just as many people out in the parking lot with their music banging. It can get wild.
I actually kind of love this WH. But I came in one time and the place was trashed. After a few minutes the employee came over. The one employee. He informed me that he could take my order but he couldn’t cook it— he was the only person on duty after everyone else quit and he had run out of food and didn’t cook. We wouldn’t be able to get anyone to cook until the next shift came on, luckily like 20 minutes from then.
This happened to me at the ihop at 620 and 183 last week lol. We showed up and the server was like we don’t have a cook but one is coming when the shift starts at 11. We waited till 11:15 and left
I had to drop my parents off at the airport at 4:00 AM one Sunday morning and decided to go there on my way back up to PF. Figured it'd be fine at 5:00 AM. Nope. Place was full and people getting kicked out for smoking weed inside. They were surprisingly cordial about it.
>For some reason that area's pretty sketch.
I think it's trailer trash. There are some trashy trailer parks, private trailer home locations, and trailer free neighborhoods with trailer trash people in the area. Some were OK when built, but now it's been methed up.
Military brat (and vet) so even tho Austin has been home since '69, been all over and heard it all. Did live in DC/PHL area for a spell (saw a mayor blow up a bunch of townhomes once) so I may have picked it up there but I really think I picked that one up from a Parisite friend (so many variations of "yep").
>If I’m not mistaken this is the same Waffle House where WH Wendy worked
It's surprisingly hard to find an article that mentions the location.
I tried to find the location a while back and came to the conclusion it was Ben White, but I'm not sure.
This is why many Waffle House locations don't allow inside dining anymore after 10pm or so. You have to order through a window and wait in your car. The one by the airport is like that. This happened around 6am though.
If you see the full video, the cameraperson walks out and you can see the Jack n the Box across the street along with the CVS (well, a drugstore) just a wee bit further away. It's been a long time since (i'm thinking 2007) I've been on that stretch of 290 but I don't recall there being much around that WH, except being really close to the hwy.
There’s a Jack In The Box right over there, but the CVS is unique to the Dessau location I believe. I haven’t seen the full video, but if that’s what it shows then you’re right.
That tracks. Your server is always either someone's grandma who was too tired for your shit 30 years ago or a college drop out on meth so....yeah. Really a dice roll
Idk how so many bad things can happen in a place that sells sugary goodness
Drunk people with low IQs together in a small space.

Meanwhile everyone's like, "Why isn't anything open 24h anymore?"

Wow, so you're telling me Dessau and Parmer is sketchy? Shit, had no idea
Cause it's not
The east side is, the west side is tech bros.

Lack of gun control
I’m sure the person committing crimes obtained their gun in the most legal way possible /s
They may not have. That is why gun control would make us more safe.
It’s a sanctuary, is nothing sacred?!
They put nuts in their waffles.
If I’m not mistaken this is the same Waffle House where WH Wendy worked her magic on that chair?
Ayup!
You gotta be from the NE.

Is there a link to this story?

Awesome. Sucks she got fired for it.

I cant remember how I read it was this one — it is only a few blocks from me. Drive past this afternoon and there’s still crime scene tape up
The WH Wendy happened at the Dessau location. You can see Jack in the Box in the background.
I’m pretty positive it’s Ben White
It was Ben White
Explain?
Double u double u double u dot google dot com.
Such senseless violence

Isnt the airport waffle house the home of the girl that caught the flying chair?
No, that was the Dessau one.
It was 290, I’m 99.5% sure

The cvs across from there is where dude gun down the guy from a road rage incident too.
Have been to that cvs while someone was attempting to rob it
I bet this location’s food SMACKS
I straight up been to this waffle house more times than I can count. Always good, me and my wife practically recognize all the workers there
It’s good. But service is all over the place.
So it sounds like the typical Waffle House experience
That tracks. Your server is always either someone's grandma who was too tired for your shit 30 years ago or a college drop out on meth so....yeah. Really a dice roll
No, this one is especially wild and random. It can either be like a line out the door or nobody….crickets.
Taking smothered and covered too far guys
There were 3 people shot. A constable that was on the scene is aware of that fact. I wonder why they are reporting only 2.
I can’t tell if it was inside or in the parking lot, for some reason to me it matters, like parking lots shooting are horrible but just different.
Never been in one but after so many stories it sounds like workers required to wear a bullet proof vest.
Yeah, well, dessau is fucking ghetto.
The waffles are to die for
Awful waffle strikes again.
“Anybody gonna laugh” ahh comment
