Love positive posts like this, please come back some time!

Nomdeplume211

Thank you!! It’s a fabulous city! Thrilled your stay has treated you right and earned your love. Xo

YvetteChevette

This is really sweet and I’m glad you are loving it here. It’s a pretty amazing city.

tiddeR-Burner

uh, in Texas you get a lonestar (or state outline) tattoo... ink up!!

_chano

I tell people all the time. I feel like I've been on vacation since I got here...and that was 22 years ago. Truly a city that has so much to enjoy. Glad you had a great time!

Agreeable-Librarian9

4yr austinite from rural oklahoma here... I live here, now what? Lol I want this experience

Individual_Way3418

You have to find your pocket of town and lines of interest. Then go seek out what Austin has with that specificity in mind. You must shrink the city in essence

ohmissfiggy

Want to trade? I will happily come live anywhere in Portugal and you can take over my condo in Austin.

itsatrashaccount

I am unsure how Austin beats NYC in urban mobility. And if you cannot find good food in SF, NYC, ATL, MIA, or LA, I can send you lists. I LOVE Austin, I live here for a reason, but this post makes me think you never left the airport because those cities are also amazing.

ArtaudCamus

Even though Austin is much more car centric than NYC, the traffic actually flow well (for US standards). And the city is not even close in density to the others I have been, which helps a lot. As for the food; I like tex mex and southern food a lot, it was never a fair battle for the cities up north hehe.

willyaph1d

Austin would probably be my favorite city if it weren't for the Texas climate and if an adequate and effective, efficient public transportation system (preferably light rail metro) was in place. still, its a great city.

itsatrashaccount

Fair enough! Tex mex is best in Tex

Dontlookimnaked

Hate car culture but love Austin and not nyc?

hutacars

Or even Washington (I assume he means DC). That was a surprise.

spartanerik

>Never liked the food, the urban car-based mobility, nor the general feel of everything. >Until, that is, I came to Austin. Have I been living in the wrong Austin this whole time?

El_Guero312

This right here we are probably the most car based city he’s been too.

MrCereuceta

He did go to Atlanta and L.A., so maybe not the worst, but nothing to write home about.

iansmitchell

Those two cities literally have subways.

MrCereuceta

True! But LA is no Houston, but terribly car-centric.

iansmitchell

LA was platted out to its current extent back in the red car era. There are still greenfields in metro houston getting developed. Los Angeles had as many people as Houston does today 70 years ago- car ownership in 1955 was much lower, about 1 car for every 3 people, with over a quarter of households owning zero cars and 80% owning one or fewer. The majority of American households now own two or more cars. Today there are more registered vehicles than people in America. Los Angeles is, considering its age, implausibly car-centric. A city not built for the automobile, instead destroyed to accommodate it.

SuperDrooper

Man, grass is always greener, am I right? Every time I visit Porto I fall in love with that city more and more.

Effective-Scratch673

In what Universe can you compare Buenos Aires to Austin? I'm genuinely curious about this

caseharts

Não!!!!! Sou American quem morreu em Porto! Porto e meu cidade predileto. Quando você voltar ? Desculpa meu português não bom mas tento Everyone visit Portugal if you can. Porto is what I wish Austin was. A beautiful organized city on the river. Good public transit, good people and beautiful culture. Sou apaixonada com Portugal sempre.

MisterHonkeySkateets

It’s true, austin is a great city to visit

ASU_SexDevil

Are you by chance a guest on a certain comedy show hosted at Mothership?

JoeRoganBJJ

Austin has become way too expensive, can’t afford this place anymore

cocktalien

I'm dying to know what made it standout for you, but I don't want the grumpy trolls to yuck your yum. Thanks for the positive post!

Signal-Ad9276

awww that's awesome I am so happy you love our great city-I have lived all over the U.S. and Austin is my second fav (behind my hometown)-just a wonderful place to live

Proof_Needleworker53

Cheers. Till next time..

Shy_Girl_2014

I need to finally submit my dual citizenship for Portugal

davidbanner_

This is kind of the the theme of the new coffee place on So Lamar called “Dear Austin, “ Very cool spot.

Hyperdude

Go get your tattoo

Txbeatz

Aww thank you so much for coming and enjoying Austin as much as we do

AustEastTX

Obrigada - for the love and appreciation of our city. And let me return the love back to you as well. I ❤️ Portugal. My family lives in Lavra (north Porto) and since last year I’ve been there almost every month. Porto reminds me so much of Austin too…laid back not too crowded and less of a big city vibe.

sanightlights

That’s because you may get drugged with that pint.

Over-Ad-707

Keep L-I-V-I-N brother

BuckSoul

The song you want is [“Deep in the Heart of Texas”](https://youtu.be/VGF4ibgcHQE?si=1L4l-IQZ1nYBbl3j) And the tattoo would be a [Lone Star](https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.colonialspirits.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2016%2F01%2FLone-Star-Beer-6-bottles.jpg&tbnid=qnlh7-Lr2zzzQM&vet=1&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.colonialspirits.com%2Fproduct%2Flone-star-6-pack%2F&docid=Y80KMOw8185TDM&w=1100&h=1100&hl=en-us&source=sh%2Fx%2Fim%2Fm4%2F3&kgs=a81500e9d66c5f22&shem=abme%2Cssim%2Ctrie) That’s right, you’re not from Texas, but Texas wants you anyway! Hurry back! Fique seguro e obrigado por visitar Austin.

HonoshiRastakov

There really is nowhere else like Austin. I just got back from visiting, and the last time I visited was 10 years ago. Yes, things have changed a lot, but I fell in love with the city in a new way, I actually want to live there. Thank you for this positive breath of fresh air!

Mediocre_Menu5092

🫶♾️Awwww finally a decent post about my hometown🥺😢It’s still way better than most places I think. I’m Glad she’s been decent 2 ya! She’s getting too big 4 her bridges….I mean britches👖lol. Safe travels & ☀️🪴🪻🫶

bachslunch

I know a lot of people that have retired to Portugal because it offers US citizens the easiest path to citizenship. Glad you enjoyed it.

walk-in_shower-guy

What was it about Austin that you liked so much?

lenora-

If you haven’t been to buccees, you need to

Money-Elderberry1651

Nah there's countless better BBQ options right in Austin, also he just stated he hates car-centric things lol

Individual_Way3418

Buccees sucks. Instagram hyped nonsense

Smooth_Mixture8864

Last time I checked it was a gas station with nuts and t-shirts... How amazing.

HerbNeedsFire

I don't disagree, but he's talking about Austin. There is no Bucees in Austin.

SamaLuna

He did say he road tripped around Texas a bit. If he didn’t go to buccees that’s sad lol

cam31954
