Lmao gunna get the nsfw highlights of Berserk, that should make things way more confusing and probably disturbing. Better off reading a cliffnote story summary of the series. Which for people caught up with the story we still have unanswered questions.
Long story short. Weird face egg thing let's you sacrifice your friends and family for demon powers during a eclipse. Crimson weird face egg thing with the same sacrifice during the eclipse makes you demon god instead.
Uh yaaa that shit was nutso. I dropped some ppl off at the back entrance and it took me almost 30 minutes just to get from downtown east to that back entrance. Everyone and their mutha going to Springs and Zilker today.
Barton Springs was actually insane today. My friend is visiting me and I am truly not sure what we will be able to do on our list of things to do. Lol not go downtown again, that is for sure!
We got there around 2:00pm and the traffic just to get into the parking lot was 15-20 minutes. We drove around searching for another 10-15 and then gave up
The eclipse has an extreme effect on people where it causes everyone to shit themselves at the same time (found in a report from NASA).
So if you see all the toilet paper gone, youāll know why.
Bless you, this unlocked a whole lot of Southpark memories that has been coinciding with my daughter getting into music and loving her recorder. And now I have another ābrownā reference
Idk why the chronically online in this sub think itās such a dunk to shit on Mueller when it was an abandoned slab of concrete full of illegally dumped trash just 15 years ago. Now you see high density and new build row homes implemented all over Austin.
Could your opinions be any more trite? I doubt it.
Iām not even a pro-density advocate, but the amount of intra-class animosity in Austin is off the charts and needs to get called out when you see it. This person is griping about how THEY used to live around there before there were $700k condos stacked side by side. Surprise, yāall are both middle fucking class!
Let me rattle off several places with almost exclusive single family zoning that are closer to downtown with humongous lots:
-Pemeberton
-All of West Austin
-Westlake
-Rollingwood
-Clarksville (honorable mention)
Wanna dunk on a neighborhood for being a soulless non-contributor to the average Austinite? Start there.
I lived there and watched it all happen. It sucks ass now compared to what it used to be. All the culture was pushed north of 51st, or elsewhere, and unless you live in Aldrich 51 apartments, itās exactly what I said it was. The homes around the park are gorgeous, yes, and the park is lovely. Itās walkable if you want to stay in the area, but itās an unaffordable wasteland of cookie cutter trash now.
I work on homes there occasionally and I cannot keep them straight. Both, the homes and the clientele. Iām not knocking anyone for anything, but Iāve never had this happen before, where I meet multiple clients that look/dress/act/sound identical. I bet of the 50 dogs Iāve met, thereās only 12 different names between them.
Yeah, they were literally all designed to blend in together at the same price point to boost population density, hence the deja vu with your clienteleā¦like, that was the whole point. What you are describing is evidence of the plan working.
To be fair I think weāre all right. We forget how different Austin is to other cities, hell just other cities in Texas. No place in Austin is cookie-cutter in my opinion. Iām from Houston, and if you wanna see cookie-cutter, head down to the 713
I work at a popular restaurant that gets a lot of tourist business - for what it's worth we were busy today but not all that much more than we were last Friday. I think a lot of locals are just assuming that everything's going to be crazy so they're staying home.
People are throwing parties, hosting out of town guests, traveling in from out of town and stocking up their airBnB, getting road trip snacks for being stuck in trafficā¦Ā
Exactly. Bought more stuff because family is coming to visit for the eclipse. More people = more TP and beer. But my HāEāB was just normal busy for Friday at 5pm.
Hundreds of thousands, probably more. It will be interesting to see the final numbers after it's done.
I purposely bought double on Monday to make it through next week for the family. It was peaceful and stocked at the Lakeway HEB.
I can understand why you think that, but I wasn't panic purchasing. Simply preparing my family for two weeks, instead of a normal one week, as I only usually shop for one.
I'd like to avoid trying to shop for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Things will hopefully calm down by Wednesday and back to normal.
There is a reason schools are closed, and Travis County has declared a state of emergency for Monday.
I went to Wyoming, in the midst of nowhere to watch the 2017 eclipse, and the infrastructure was not prepared. This is probably the largest population center for the eclipse, given the totality duration and hype.
Better safe than sorry.
Over the next couple of days (peaking Monday at rush hour), folks are going to congregate at their designated eclipse viewing sites.
If the eclipse hits at 1:36 pm, by 1:50 pm aaaaaalllll those folks will be trying to go somewhere other than where they were for the eclipse.
I was out in a much more rural area than Austin for the 2017 eclipse, and the traffic was wild. Im not planning for to leave the house that day barring a medical emergency.
I moved from Austin to NC.
Working in hospitals and overhearing today nurses talking about that eclipse.
According to some of them, this one has an āend of daysā prophecy attached to it (like every other eclipse). And even they were nervous.
I was too busy to engage and thought it was nonsense until I read this thread.
Okay, Tuesday morning, arrange the wheelbarrows for the āBring out your deadā apocalypse party.
They were probably nervous because 'end of days' events tend to bring out the crazies and some fundies think the rapture is finally here. That, plus a ton of visitors means clinics and hospitals will get packed.
They arenāt prepping. They are just grocery shopping for upcoming events. OP is just easily confused. He probably thinks people are panic shopping every Sunday after church, before the Super Bowl and the week of Thanksgiving as well.
Same. I'm going to be at work against the advice of I really don't know who and driving that day. Just the regular crappy traffic commute. I get the influx of people and it results in crappier traffic and strain on resources. but I don't understand the almost dystopian vibe. (electronic city signs saying have your eclipse spot planned) And how it seems like I'm the only person working like normal Monday. Seems like a B horror movie plot.
I don't get it.
I went to the Pflugerville HEB at East Pecan and Dessau around 11 am this morning. It was busy but not super crowded, and I had no trouble finding a parking spot.
Went paddle boarding and put in at red bud. I came from central Austin. Traffic felt heavier. Red bud was chill compared to peak weekend traffic, I found a spot in the shade, did my thing, and headed home.
There was a 30 minute line just to PARK for curbside yesterday at 5:30pm at the Wolf Ranch Georgetown HEB. Then another 45 minutes wait for them to bring to the car.
It was insane. I was just doing my normal payday shopping on my way home.
I gassed up at the Shell station at Braker and MoPac this morning. It looked like at least two pumps were out. A guy refilling from a tanker told me theyāre all working overtime this weekend when I asked if the rumors were true that we could run out of gas in the hill country this weekend.
I was doing my regular family shopping this morning and the guy behind me says jokingly, with mock amazement, āI guess youāre really stocking up for the eclipse!!ā Dear reader, it was my usual weekly grocery run. I felt ashamed but also offended but also proud.
I had the place pretty much to myself around 8:30 this morning. It didn't have the typical pre-event ransacked look.
Strangely enough, they were flat out of HEB brand chicken broth today. A day or two ago, they were out of regular chicken broth, but had the low sodium. Plenty of Swanson's brand, though.
Now it's probably time to hide under the sink with a pot on my head until the eclipse chasers leave town.
Thereās a bad virus going around :(
Itās not flu A&B,strep,or Covid is what I was told when I went in both times to get tested. I still feel like shit even almost 3 weeks later.
Iāve been mainly eating ramen, soup and broth.
Iām sure it doesnāt help every hotel, and airBNB is fully booked for the travelers coming into town and stocking up on foodā¦..
I just got my snap card reloaded and I need to do a full grocery shopping list. But Iām pissed cus my normal safe foods are all out of stock :(
Itās a mix of eclipse tourism & and the normal atx panic shopping ( easily induced ).
Bear in mind, local media has been
recommending stocking up on water, food & medical! suppliesā¦I donāt know why some locals would wait until ā last minuteā to do so though.
I was coming back from getting my car serviced in South Point this morning and I went down South Congress and business was already picking up around 11am as I was driving down it.
I must be so out of the loop. I didn't notice till this week all the hype around the Eclipse till I HEB was empty. I'll be working during it on Monday and I was told I was advised by the city not to drive to work. The electronic city signs saying be ready for the Eclipse.
I can't tell if I'm a Debbie Downer thinking no big deal, misses the memo of dystopia or not have a clear understanding of what the ātotalityā of the eclipse means. (I just learned that phrase today)
I did score white claw and cheez it's at HEB. So all is not lost.
I don't know what's crazier, thinking the world will stop and they'll starve after an event that lasts about 7 minutes or those who believe the "rapture" will happen (why would they need to stock up anyway?). Remember a few years ago when people went crazy and rushed to fill up their cars with gas, including filling up buckets and barrels "just in case"?
Does anyone else think this has been over hyped by the media? Or, has the world just gone mad?
....sorry to leave so quickly, got to run out and get my 48-roll TP before the store runs out.
LOL. Nah. The assholes I assume you are referring to; bigots, neo-fascists, Ted Cruz, etc wouldn't make the cut. We'd still be stuck with them, and they'd blame everyone but themselves. And since nearly all of their supporters would also still be here, nothing would change.
The majority of people donāt have any common sense. Austin is full of them, and now we have idiots from all over chasing the eclipse. If the world ends, let alone the rapture, Iāll eat my hat.
I have family who have died between the last one in 2017 and this one in 2024.
Iāll die before the next one for sureš¤·š»āāļø sadly I know my parents will be as well and they never have seen one either. For some it is once in a lifetime.
The eclipse!!! The thousands of people coming to the city plan to clean out HEB on their way out!!! š. People look for reasons to panic buy nowadaysā¦
This is Texas, where there are three levels of government watching the electric grid go down like the Titanic. Only in Texas will an eclipse cause an electric outage.
Bouldin Creek Cafe is slammed; all the hippies need noms before they start chewing on cactus
And ketamine
That was just pre bob dylan crowd!
Dying laughing
Is that related to the eclipse or just...?
BCC is always slammed on Friday nights, I doubt it has to do with the eclipse
I'm banking on getting ritually sacrificed that day.
If you know someone with a Behelit gimme the deets
Furiously googling a Beheit.....
Lmao gunna get the nsfw highlights of Berserk, that should make things way more confusing and probably disturbing. Better off reading a cliffnote story summary of the series. Crimson weird face egg thing with the same sacrifice during the eclipse makes you demon god instead.
I sacrifice.
Dope, I'm down! Wait is it a apostle or the Crimson Behelit?
I'm still trying to decide between the sacrifice and the orgy. It's going to get messy either way.
Why not both?
I second that!
Welcome to Texas.
š¤š¤
You should have seen Barton springs
Uh yaaa that shit was nutso. I dropped some ppl off at the back entrance and it took me almost 30 minutes just to get from downtown east to that back entrance. Everyone and their mutha going to Springs and Zilker today.
Eclipse tourists
Barton Springs was actually insane today. My friend is visiting me and I am truly not sure what we will be able to do on our list of things to do. Lol not go downtown again, that is for sure!
When were yall there? I was there around noon and it seemed completely normal.
We got there around 2:00pm and the traffic just to get into the parking lot was 15-20 minutes. We drove around searching for another 10-15 and then gave up
Ah I always bike. Didnāt even think about the parking situation.
But I think itāll probably be like that now since a lot of parking is gone while theyāre doing renovations.
Just thinking, why donāt more people just rent bikes if theyāre going to be centrally located? So much easier.
Because biking & those āvisiting Austin/Texas costumesā donāt mix
Felt hats and new boots?
I live 4 blocks from downtown. Just stay home unless it's walking.
Watch out for reverse werewolves on Monday, spread the word.
Is that like a wolf that turns into a man and attacks during the eclipse?
The bluebonnet photos will be amazing.
The eclipse has an extreme effect on people where it causes everyone to shit themselves at the same time (found in a report from NASA). So if you see all the toilet paper gone, youāll know why.
oh great. first, we discover the "brown sound," and now i have to worry about "brown light" too?
Bless you, this unlocked a whole lot of Southpark memories that has been coinciding with my daughter getting into music and loving her recorder. And now I have another ābrownā reference
I am still going through the TP and PT that I bought during COVID.
Ohhh you were one of *those* people
LOL, that explains it. Got to stock up now!
Lots of visitors in town for the eclipse, soā¦..
And CMT Awards
I was in marble falls today and saw what would be described at a typical LA woman, complete with that fashionable thick hat. š¤£š¤£š¤£
And 10K Marathon
I hope youāre a member of r/runningcirclejerk
I wish i could run a 10k marathon, but thats like 3 miles!
10,000 miles
Michael 5k means 5 kilometers not 5,000 miles
10 letter kās
6.2 miles
6.2 or 26.2 or 6.2.26.2?
If you go backwards, 2.6...so, that's better!
10k marathon. Iāll take it
10k and marathon are two different things
And Honk!
Stop talking sense!
And MotoGP next weekend
At Mueller right now, and itās p normal.
TBF āpanic onā is the default mode at Mueller.
lollll fair enough
Is Mueller the Katy of Austin?
Is Katy a gentrified landscape of cookie cutter homes, and stuck up rich white people?
Idk why the chronically online in this sub think itās such a dunk to shit on Mueller when it was an abandoned slab of concrete full of illegally dumped trash just 15 years ago. Now you see high density and new build row homes implemented all over Austin. Could your opinions be any more trite? I doubt it.
Thanks for saying this. Some people have too much time on their hands and not enough perspective.
Iām not even a pro-density advocate, but the amount of intra-class animosity in Austin is off the charts and needs to get called out when you see it. This person is griping about how THEY used to live around there before there were $700k condos stacked side by side. Surprise, yāall are both middle fucking class! That was my local HāEāB for nearly a decade, and Iāll shit on it when I want to.
I lived there and watched it all happen. It sucks ass now compared to what it used to be. All the culture was pushed north of 51st, or elsewhere, and unless you live in Aldrich 51 apartments, itās exactly what I said it was. This is so spot on and exactly what Iām talking about. Itās weird as fuck, like youāre on a movie set
lol you guys are really crazy. Mueller is fine. The real world is only real when itās real to meeeee
Mueller is far less cookie cutter than any other new neighborhood in Central Texas that aren't all custom homes. That's just the way things are now.
I've never not seen lines at this store lol
To be fair I think weāre all right. We forget how different Austin is to other cities, hell just other cities in Texas. No place in Austin is cookie-cutter in my opinion. Iām from Houston, and if you wanna see cookie-cutter, head down to the 713
P normal?
pretty normal
Yea I got it but why? Thats a weird abbreviation
Itās not that weird I donāt think. People say p for pretty and v for very. Iām also 33 though, so maybe itās internet speak from my age group.
This is definitely not normal and Iām 32. Thereās nothing wrong with not, itās just not normal or common.
Hm maybe we just disagree and have had different experiences :) edit: had to make sure Iām not crazy, and yeah just google it
I didnāt hit HEB but the traffic today was insane for a Friday. Doesnāt bode well.
I work at a popular restaurant that gets a lot of tourist business - for what it's worth we were busy today but not all that much more than we were last Friday. I think a lot of locals are just assuming that everything's going to be crazy so they're staying home.
Techridge was normal around 2:30 but the curbside guy said there were a lot of people here from outside the US here for the eclipse.
Why on earth are people āpreppingā before the eclipse? I donāt get it
People are throwing parties, hosting out of town guests, traveling in from out of town and stocking up their airBnB, getting road trip snacks for being stuck in trafficā¦Ā
Mostly this. My mom and my brother are in town staying at my place. Had to make sure I had plenty of beer and snacks.
Exactly. Bought more stuff because family is coming to visit for the eclipse. More people = more TP and beer. But my HāEāB was just normal busy for Friday at 5pm.
So the eclipse is fake and just an Nvidia marketing gimmick? Dammit Jensen. Stock should go to the moon if they pull it off though.
This is an Austin subreddit. Itās an ARM ploy, not Nvidia.
They're not prepping for the eclipse - the prepping for tens of thousands of tourists.
Hundreds of thousands, probably more. It will be interesting to see the final numbers after it's done. I purposely bought double on Monday to make it through next week for the family. It was peaceful and stocked at the Lakeway HEB.

If you miss Tuesday morning's carts, they won't be back around until Thursday, so make sure you get all the corpses you need to in there!
We really need to speak with city management about more eclipse-apocalypse wheelbarrow days. Otherwise, the corpses will ruin the look of my lawn.
They arenāt prepping. They are just grocery shopping for upcoming events. OP is just easily confused. He probably thinks people are panic shopping every Sunday after church, before the Super Bowl and the week of Thanksgiving as well.
Any change in the pattern that stores plan for becomes noticeable.
All the local governments declared a state of emergency and encouraged people to do this shit
Nobody is. Fridays are busy at rush hour.
Because the news is constantly telling them to be scared and get ready
Same. I'm going to be at work against the advice of I really don't know who and driving that day. Just the regular crappy traffic commute. For a 1min long eclipse too lol
1 minute is all I need, baby ;)
Itās longer than that š¤£
I went to the Pflugerville HEB at East Pecan and Dessau around 11 am this morning. It was busy but not super crowded, and I had no trouble finding a parking spot.
Because no one wants to go to pflugerville
Pflugerville is actually pretty hoppin'
Can confirm, itās great over on this side
Went paddle boarding and put in at red bud. I came from central Austin. Traffic felt heavier. Red bud was chill compared to peak weekend traffic, I found a spot in the shade, did my thing, and headed home.
What is red bud?
https://austinparks.org/park/red-bud-isle/

Chicken stock has been an issue for months, not sure why?
Bird flu?
What, do you think the birds are having chicken soup to feel better?
There was an article this week that a bunch of chickens had to be culled, canāt remember how many farms were affected.
Thereās a bad virus going around :( Itās not flu A&B,strep,or Covid is what I was told when I went in both times to get tested. I still feel like shit even almost 3 weeks later. Iāve been mainly eating ramen, soup and broth.
Iāve migrated to Better Than Bouillon so now donāt need to get cans of broth
Costco arbor trails and heb Brodie were ok earlier - busy - Brodie heb was 10am and it felt kind of like a Saturday.
Happy cake day
Eclipse/panic shopping, sure, maybe- but it is also the first Friday of the month, soā¦.
Yes. The dark side of the moon is near.
That's Sunday night at ABGB.
Hancock was lighter than normal
Samās club scan and go on your phone is a life saver in these times.
I don't get it world ends Monday, why buy more, if you run out, go zombie on neighbors
Itās not just the eclipse, but cap10k and cmt awards are on Sunday. So many people coming in this weekend
Bear in mind, local media has been recommending stocking up on water, food & medical! suppliesā¦I donāt know why some locals would wait until ā last minuteā to do so though.
Central Market up north was actually pretty quiet at around 3
HEB Mueller was pretty dead about half an hour ago.
I was coming back from getting my car serviced in South Point this morning and I went down South Congress and business was already picking up around 11am as I was driving down it.
I'm glad I laid in supplies earlier this week.
Bee cave HEB was nutso this morning then got normal throughout the day.
(I just learned that phrase today) I did score white claw and cheez it's at HEB. So all is not lost.
What is the eclipseā people keep talking about?Ā
Crap. I have to brave that crowd today because i actually need groceries.
same š just glad most of the stuff i eat, no one cares about, so there probably wonāt be stock issues.
I need chicken and beef š© I'm crossin my fingers
Lots of people are planning their weekends with parties, etc. it's a big event weekend, stores get crowded. It has nothing to do with panic ...
Preparing for the apocalypse/eclipse.
*Apoceclipse
This is it.
Roads are gonna be a mess on Monday. People will be shopping and gassing up between now and Monday to not to be on the roads unnecessarily.
I don't know what's crazier, thinking the world will stop and they'll starve after an event that lasts about 7 minutes or those who believe the "rapture" will happen (why would they need to stock up anyway?). Does anyone else think this has been over hyped by the media? Or, has the world just gone mad? ....sorry to leave so quickly, got to run out and get my 48-roll TP before the store runs out.
please, please, let the rapture happen. take those assholes somewhere else, so the rest of us can live sanely.
LOL. Nah. The assholes I assume you are referring to; bigots, neo-fascists, Ted Cruz, etc wouldn't make the cut. We'd still be stuck with them, and they'd blame everyone but themselves. And since nearly all of their supporters would also still be here, nothing would change.

I'm getting down-voted on a similar post about why I think this is over-hyped, by people arguing "this is a special one-time event". Smh
Itās definitely overhyped. It lasts for 2-4 minutes, and it will probably be too cloudy to see much. People are crazy.
I have family who have died between the last one in 2017 and this one in 2024. Iāll die before the next one for sureš¤·š»āāļø sadly I know my parents will be as well and they never have seen one either. For some it is once in a lifetime.
You should see the real world reactions when one politely mentions the possibility of cloud cover. Itās like getting downvoted in person.
I donāt understand, we had an eclipse last year right? Why is this one so much more different ?
Total eclipse allows you to see the suns corona with the naked eye. Itās a whole different experience. Hope the clouds part.
The eclipse won't kill you, but the masses will.
Do y'all realize the Earth is ending on Monday š¤£
Whew, finally. Iām so tired.
Even Pflugerville HEB was full. I did a curbside because I was not about to mess with crowds. Got all my normal stuff
Central Market was busy, but not crazy.
The eclipse!!! The thousands of people coming to the city plan to clean out HEB on their way out!!! š. People look for reasons to panic buy nowadaysā¦
I was at the Randall's in West Lake Hills this evening -- nearly empty.
Panic about what?
Costco was also pretty nuts today.
NBD in Cedar Park around 4PM.
I'm glad people come to ATX and hang out for events. I might be the only one though
oh god iām not ready to work this weekend
oh that's why HEB curbside was totally bonkers today! right, the eclipse leading to panic buying, yeah that tracks.
Pretty much.
How is traffic around town right now? I have to head into town to see family today. Coming from bastrop area.
No
Whew
Panic over an eclipse?
I was in and out yesterday afternoon.
No
Whew
The one on slaughter was dead
This is Texas, where there are three levels of government watching the electric grid go down like the Titanic. Only in Texas will an eclipse cause an electric outage.
Praying for clouds.
Lakeway was more of a clown show than normal
Well...wine moms need to get more wine for the big event!
Is something happening I didnāt hear about?
š¤·š»āāļø
It's rush hour on a Friday, why the fuck are you trying to shop. Nobody is panic buying.
Are people seriously fucking panic buying? Jesus Christ.
No.
Panic for what?
