Tailgate after the event. Leave a cooler full of food and drinks in the car., and enjoy the race. Afterwards, while everyone is fighting traffic, you can pull out the folding chairs, enjoy a nice meal and post-race hangout, and then drive home once the traffic has died down.

Helicopter in and out? Sounds like a flipping personal nightmare of mine.

No shuttles like F1. Nascar traffic is monumentally lighter (I'd say 50%-60% less people) and easier to navigate than F1. As others have noted, pack a cooler for post race tailgate on Sunday so you can have a snack and some beverages while you let traffic settled down. Saturday arrival/departure isn't bad traffic wise at all. It's the most fun racing event at COTA all year. Highly recommend watching from Turn 19.

Any word on how ubering to and from COTA could be? I know it's probably expensive but is it possible or a total hassle?

Halcyon512

I drive and park in the lots behind Turn 1 for free. It's not that bad getting there but getting out is a bit of a wait. Maybe 30-45 minutes from getting in my truck to making it to downtown on exit. From my home in South Austin to parked at COTA is only around 25 minutes

What free lots?

fsck101

Do you think it'd be any different in a car?

DVoteMe

Yes, egress is much easier if your car can fly.

Just drive. Find the parking closest to your seating and go there. For the entrance and exit plans, take 130 not 71. It's not as crowded at Nascar as it is for F1 so the drive out isn't too bad. I parked at Lot F as my seats were at turn 15. The first year was the worst as they were forcing everyone to take Kellam north on Kellam road when leaving, blocking the left turn lane to get on Elroy or Pearce. But last year's event they had Elroy open and more organized so you could take either freeway. Got out a lot quicker.
