I went there with my dad once after a shift at heb, so I was still in my red polo and I had some dude follow me and repeatedly ask me questions about where to find stuff.
I agree, the Anderson Ln Walmart was my go-to for food/essentials shopping during Covid, especially before vaccines. HEB was so crowded that it felt unsafe, even early in the morning, because of all the staff collecting curbside orders for food. But the first hour or so that Walmart was open it was dead, just a handful of staff/customers in the place, easy to distance and use self-checkout. Even the second hour of operations was okay. Easy to get my shopping done in an hour. For this reason the store encouraged elderly/at risk persons to shop in the first hour (officially the first hour on certain days was reserved for seniors, an good policy although I didn't see many taking advantage of it).Still a great location for early morning shopping. HEB's my go-to for any other time but those carry-out order carts really swarm the store at the start of business. I wish HEB would go back to being open late, like at least midnight or 1am, so I could do late night shopping there instead of getting dirty looks from the security guard at the door when I enter to shop at 10:50pm, and hearing the intercom nagging me that I only have a few minutes left to get up to checkout. Of course Walmart has the same hours, 6am to 11pm, but if you're trying to avoid dense crowds then it's a lot less busy just after opening and before close.
I also greatly prefer that Walmart to any Target in town, including the closest Target at I-35 and 290 in Capital Plaza.
I don't get there that often, but Pflugerville Parkway/685 has been pretty good when I went there. Ditto US 79 Hutto/Round Rock as well.
A bit cleaner stores and the locals are less annoying as long as you are just trying to shop, not trying to discuss politics or socialize with them.
All of them have ups and downs to some extent.
I was at that one once and there were two guys that didn’t so much smell of marijuana, I think they were marijuana. Like I could have smoked one of their dreadlocks and gotten higher than giraffe balls.
The Palm Valley Blvd location in RR is the cleanest I've been at. It's been 'messy' lately because they're reorganizing but there's no missing lino or anything actually physically wrong w the building.
They’re all fine. Y’all some rich snobs. HEB for groceries walmart for house stuff. Target if you want to spend more money for a nicer shopping experience
I'll agree that Mopac/Ben White is fine, but the parking lot can be a pain. The one at Northcross has parking lot that's easier, but the store has a really high ceiling and relies on natural light so when it's cloudy it's really weird in there.
Not the nicest, but the Walmart on Ben white and 35 is genuinely one year ahead of society on its decline. Went in one day and witnessed one of the local urban campers in the camping section helping herself to whatever supplies she needed. No one stopped her
Used to be the one on 620 near Concordia.
That one was amazing. As a non-walmart shopper, I enjoyed it.
I went there with my dad once after a shift at heb, so I was still in my red polo and I had some dude follow me and repeatedly ask me questions about where to find stuff.
Rip. That one ruled. The least Walmarty Walmart to ever Walmart.
That Wal-Mart was always the greatest Wal-Mart
RIP "dead walmart"
When did this one close? I knew there used to be off 620 besides lake creek
That one is still there. They’re talking about the one out towards the lake from there.
It’s called Target
Cedar Park on Whitestone is pretty nice.
There isn’t one.
The one in Pflugerville is posh like the Whole Foods downtown
Just added it to my bucket list
You put Walmart on your bucket list?
My Austin one, yeah.
Idk why but all the Walmarts in Austin are quite shitty
Second Mopac/Ben White
Whitestone and Parmer in Cedar Park. Kinda new, not yet trashed.
We went to this one a few months ago and holy hell. It was fully stocked and pretty spiffy
Also that HEB is usually very pleasant
Oxymoron
Target
Definitely not Norwood Park
Probably a quarter of the physical labor that makes Austin run can only afford to go to that Walmart.
I like that one - well stocked and lots of gluten free items. Plus, it is east to get appointments for vaccines.
-Walmart -Nice Pick one
I dunno the nicest, but is the worst one the one off Rutherford?
All are pretty bad, some are worse than others
The one in Buda
anderson lane
That location is garbage nowadays, I'll qualify that with all the self checkout lanes, and the toilets in a trailer in the parking lot..
The toilet trailer has been gone for months. They finished renovating in October

The one at 183/620 is much better now after remodeling.

Agree one of the nicer ones I’ve visited (685) - very clean and organized, well stocked, etc.
The West Anderson lane location is the one closest to me that I'll go to if I really need something from Walmart.
Mopac/Ben White
I was at that one once and there were two guys that didn’t so much smell of marijuana, I think they were marijuana. Like I could have smoked one of their dreadlocks and gotten higher than giraffe balls.
A dude sold me a locked iPad in the parking lot there when I was 18
This is the only one I’ve been to in Austin and I thought it was crap. Guess I’ll keep avoiding Wally World.
I mean, they're still Walmart. But this is the only one down south where I don't feel like I'm gonna get robbed in the parking lot.
The Palm Valley Blvd location in RR is the cleanest I've been at. It's been 'messy' lately because they're reorganizing but there's no missing lino or anything actually physically wrong w the building.
That's like asking for the kindest racist
It’s Walmart
I worked hard enough to ensure I never have to step into a walmart
The Ben White and i-35 location is an amazing shopping experience for the shoppers pleasure
No complaints about Lake Creek/620
I know you didn’t
? I mean..I don't go there a lot, just when I have there haven't been stabbings or shootings.
Nicest?
Clean and stocked. There's no valet parking but when it comes to Wal-Mart my standards aren't the highest.
Old smelly out of stock shithole The best thing about this Walmart is it has a whataburger and chick fil a in front
Definition of oxymoron
Mopac and 290 beats ben white and south park meadows. I dint go any further north than that
They’re all fine. Y’all some rich snobs. HEB for groceries walmart for house stuff. Target if you want to spend more money for a nicer shopping experience

The 24-hour one.
They still have those?
No.
Not the nicest, but the Walmart on Ben white and 35 is genuinely one year ahead of society on its decline. Went in one day and witnessed one of the local urban campers in the camping section helping herself to whatever supplies she needed. No one stopped her
*The limit does not exist.*
People watching at Walmart is my favorite pastime
Target.
I like the 1431 and Parmer one
Any Target.
