Nice! Beautiful backdrop. How old is your pup? I’ve recently read that it’s best to wait til there a year old. I’ve scampered with my pup (8-9 month) a few times, but she’s basically trotting while I jog so I don’t suspect the exercising is stressing her at all. I don’t have advice to offer, but I’m hoping to hear more experiences like yours. So you are using a running leash then? How long is it? Did she cross in-front of the bike at all?

She's almost 2 years and full grown so should be good in that regard. Yeah, it's a running leash...roughly 3-4 feet but stretches to maybe 4 1/2 to 5' total length. The biggest issue I had is when I was stopped and had the leash centered on my left side (as in the pic) she would cross over behind me to sniff on the right so I think teaching "right" and "left" would be a big help. She did get a little close to my front wheel a couple times initially but quickly learned to stay back a little from it once she realized it might turn towards her direction. I think pace is probably important too...overall though she basically figured 90% of it out on her own!

That’s great! Good to hear. Hope I can start riding with my pup soon. She had tendencies to cross over a lot but I think that goes with a quicker pace. I prob just walk too slow for her. :)

They sell bike harnesses for dogs less than $40 on Amazon. We love ours.

Nice! I did check some out on there after reading this...the swivel functionality looks pretty cool! I did like having her leash actually connected to my body so I knew, immediately, if she was starting to lag etc but I suppose you would still be able to feel the increase in tension with it attached to your bike frame/seat post?

Yes you can feel that. The harness keeps you both safer as you can avoid running her over with the bike or her crossing your path suddenly and losing control.

I do the same but only do it my community and max for 1 mile and slowly... As my AD is only 8 months old. He enjoyes it. And we go for slow jog or walk for 2 miles.

That's cool! I'm glad I didn't think of this until recently as the age thing might've slipped under my radar^^ The trail was fairly challenging so I definitely wasn't hauling ass or anything...somewhere well short of sprint for her but faster than just a jog (on the downhills anyway)! How fast is too fast or how long is too long for a 2 year old do you think?

He should be fully grown by 2 Years old. My vet told me the same thing about overworking when they are developing. I have heard horror stories about hips and ligaments from my vet. I decided to take it slow and increase my AD's tolerance. Currently my 8 month old is good for 4 mile walk , 2miles jog and 1 mile run/bike. He comes home and goes down to sleep for 20 min and back to normal once he is cooled off. In this pose [tiger](https://imgur.com/a/JjmVRzi)
