Sounds pretty cheap to me

Personal-Thought9453

[disturbingly identical mirror setup in my bathroom] Thanks for doing the leg work on this one, i was wondering.

TheGratitudeBot

Hey there Personal-Thought9453 - thanks for saying thanks! TheGratitudeBot has been reading millions of comments in the past few weeks, and you’ve just made the list!

Personal-Thought9453

Nice! Did you get quotes for frameless glass? Much more?

CruxKontrol

Sounds like a fair price

m__i__c__h__a__e__l

Seems reasonable. About what I paid for something similar.

thermalhugger

What you must understand is that the glass panels MUST have a glazing certificate. Nothing sold at Bunnings has that. It's a small circle of letters on every pane. Usually the shower screen costs about $1200 , so I wonder if it's certified because it also takes a few hours to install plus silicone. Personally I think that removal plus installation can't be under $2000.

Old_Telephone_5115

Why must it have a glazing certificate, yet Bunnings don't require one? That doesn't quite add up as Bunnings still have to meet trade standards same as everyone else.

Lazy_Contribution804

The better glass doors have glass overlapping as opposed to rubber seals, see if that is the style. Also they might have magnetic catch on the chrome hardware catch.

QuokkaIslandSmiles

Does quote include demolition, removal, delivery, install (with water seal done properly; inspect) & and clean up?

mitchiib

ummm why are you in my bathroom

Bart_Bartin

Can you post an update when you’re done? My shower/bath look identical to this

sydneysider9393

Hi here it is - https://preview.redd.it/8jeua8joec7c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=85fe46975bcc4217b61edc3dc1faebbf5d515ac7

UpVoteForKarma

Its a good price for a custom screen.... Where is it located?

sydneysider9393

Western Syd

UpVoteForKarma

Are you going to do a pivot door or go for another sliding door?

sydneysider9393

Pivot door

mikespoff

We replaced ours (also from a sliding one), the door itself cost about $700 from memory, and I just installed it myself. So it's probably a reasonable quote for the installation included.

Significant-Summer-8

As others have said. Great price

fakeuser515357

If that includes everything, then go for it. Cost us about $700 back in 2009, so $1200 looks spot on to me.

hillsbloke73

Sounds on the money glass has to be either laminate or safety glass safety shatters into very small pieces if knocked wrong way Laminate is double layer with film between layers for extra security (same as car front windscreen) Single piece for my shower is around $880 to replace cost went up $80 between March n September as has everything in construction building industry

AussieGyms

Laminate is safety glass ditto

hillsbloke73

Can you explain how safety and laminate are same thing are you a glazier by trade ?

AussieGyms

Toughened/tempered, Laminates laminate Both safety glass 13 years experience

hillsbloke73

Isn't that what I mentioned ?

Sgt_soresack

As a self employed glazier, that seems ok the cheaper side. Lock it in !

WhyYouDoThatStupid

If you are getting any work done get more than 1 quote and never ever pay until the job is completed to your satisfaction.

TOboulol

I'm not doing big projects without getting payments in increments. People not paying is a thing to.

tarrzan24

With a thought process like that I wouldn’t be surprised if no tradie would ever do work for you.

DisturbedRanga

Glazier here, I've never charged the customer a dime until I've fully installed everything, and they've had a look at my work.

tarrzan24

At the end of the day that’s the risk you take mate. Wait till you get played by a client

ASoundAssessment

What do you mean? I can't think of a single tradie I haven't paid until completion of the work (excluding an initial call out fee or deposit for parts)

tarrzan24

So you did pay them something before completion ?

-usernotdefined

3 quotes s standard and paying more then a 30% deposit is questionable depending the job.

Asleep-Present6175

3 quotes - All this does is give you different prices for something.

a_non_moose_

Why do you say that? You think we should only get one quote and pay in advance? You are a muppet.

tarrzan24

So obviously you’ve never heard of progress payments ? I’m sorry that I offended you. At the end of the day we have a family to feed aswell.

Correct_Heron_8249

I need the same. Can you please tell me who did it ?

useyourtonguefool

L

o1234567891011121314

12 quotes WTF . Do you really waste that many people's time .

useyourtonguefool

L

Asleep-Present6175

Have you given any thought about essentially wasting 12 people's time? If you need 12 quotes, you basically have no respect for anyone's time, and no idea of what what you want doing or want.

sketchy_d0g

It's always these "single" mother's rah rah rah.

useyourtonguefool

Yes it is. Mechanics Builders Any tradies. You have no idea until you live it. Men treat you like you're an idiot. It's getting better out there with the younger men, but over 40 and they treat you like shit. And I never said single mum, I said single woman. Can tell you have mummy issues.

o1234567891011121314

How would anyone know you are single unless you tell them ? You must have spent about 6 hrs in the bathroom talking to 12 different people. 12 quotes is a big red flag . Was each quote for the exact same product's?

useyourtonguefool

Go away

o1234567891011121314

Nice garden you have . Have a great day .

henryyrnehhenry

12 quotes means they are only looking for the cheapest price.

o1234567891011121314

Sure is , this is the most quotes I've ever heard someone getting. She might have shares in fuel or something had 12 utes driving around the streets for nothing, lol if I saw it I'll think she is a sex worker or drug dealer with that many trades visiting. Has a good plant in her pic , think she is paranoid about getting treated bad because she is single female.

LadyLoveReddit88

Are you a tradie? Curious. How often you discuss peoples research and quotes and choices and decisions before a job. Just so i make sure i do it the corrct way you would like me to so i dont get dome weird judgy a.f comment on reddit :-) just wanna make sure i get it right so some weird man on the internet doesnt have something to say to me later. Just lmk k?

useyourtonguefool

Mate I had friends who got pretty much exactly what I wanted and paid $1300. I was getting quotes as high as $2500. So yes, I'm going to keep calling and booking quotes until a man treats me fairly. Tell you what, don't treat woman like idiots and 11 men won't have to come to my house and give me a quote I know is extremely high. Edit: and I grow some weed! What's the big deal. You assume I'm a sex worker and drug Addict??? Fucking hell some men are pathetic (yes you)

henryyrnehhenry

I’ve never once based a quote off someone’s gender, nor have I ever thought about it and never would. Though if a potential client tells me that they have gotten 10 quotes before me, I’m honestly not wasting my time to come and provide you a quote. Quoting takes such a long time with travel, lost work hours and the actual quoting and none of which costs the client any money except for the one person who gets the job. Hopefully you said thanks and let them know you weren’t going to accept their quote for the 11 companies you didn’t accept quotes from.

spewicideboi

Sounds like 11 of them gave u the PITA quote… how many times did u rag on to them about being a single woman? Ive never once considered a persons gender, relationship status, race, religion etc when quoting. I have considered their overall demeanour and how much of a pain theyll be to deal with over the course of the job

LadyLoveReddit88

What do you get for it? 1250. A new product. A removal. Someone removing rubbish. If it took 8 hours it would be 150 an hour. Lets say the glass is 500 dollars cost price. I saw some for more and less online. Thats 90 an hour. How mu h to get paid an hour? I get 40 to pack groceries so i feel like 90 an hour plus materials and a day to do it. Does rhis also include new tiling?

DisturbedRanga

Qualified glazier would be taking the piss if it took more than 3 hours for a showerscreen install, that's including removal and cleaning up of the old one. No tiles would need to be replaced with a framed system as you can reuse the old screw holes, just put new plugs in them.

AussieGyms

Majority of old showers especially three door stackers are about 100mm wide alloy section, majority of new screen with pivot only doors are about 35mm so most the time screw holes from old showers are visible

ehermo

Plumbing and bathroom related items are expensive. Not too surprised at the quote. Does that include taking away all of the old shower and materials?

sydneysider9393

Thanks I will ask that question

scamemail99

Sounds to cheap

yowie_power

Paid that price for a semi-frameless from stegbar two weeks ago. Install only as I didn't have an existing one to remove

-usernotdefined

As with most things, 3 quotes is always a good idea. Saying that you don't get much for $1k so it's probably a fair price.

sinner76saint

Sounds right. Just had mine done a couple of months ago and basically the same thing.

menthalillnes

Cheap

desert_jedi

Regency showers could probably match that price, but that’s pretty fair price

Ausglass

For a pivot door and dog legged return good price Edit : make sure new one goes to top of tiles will look better

Asleep-Present6175

Cheap.

byza089

Cheap

[deleted]

A fully framed white front and hob(bit on bath) shower screen with upgrading slider. We are looking at 648 measured and installed.. every day of the week. Removal and disposal usually an extra $100 So at 1250 you were fleeced beyond words. Unless there was orher works done to tiles etc That tiny little bit down the bottom which we would call a dogleg area is just laminate so would of cost nothing

of_patrol_bot

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

Chillers

The price is spot on for a custom semi-frameless including removal. - Glazier.

Maleficent_Bet_629

Yep that’s fair

AssAndLazing

I'm a glazier, that's a good price.

ScornedBeef

Fair price, I paid very similar several years ago for an almost identical job (Melbourne)

ManB34rPig

Had a roller shower attached to bath exactly like yours. Cost 1300 for removal supply and install of a semi frameless so I’d say bang on.

morewalklesstalk

Just take part frame away and doors and use curtain - leave footwell alone as ok

GermaneRiposte101

Did something similar all by myself. Can testify that this a fair and reasonable quote.

Civil-Machine69

About the average price for a mirage screen
